She slammed the party elites who smear and sneer at the conservative grassroots as fringe while pretending to support causes they care about at election time. When it came to Common Core she named names, singling out John Kasich for claiming he believed in local control of education. About Bush, she said: “There are three reasons why Jeb Bush failed. His last name, his support for amnesty and his cheer-leading and cashing in on Common Core.” This was the first time Malkin has spoken at CPAC in 13 years and it was well worth the wait. Coulter vs. Malkin: Female conservatives clash over Palin NO While I've  noticed some leftward drift from Ann Coulter, I will for now side with the argument that Michelle Malkin (whom I also love) is making a bit much her statement "that the eventual Republican candidate shouldn’t pick “a novelty candidate” as their vice presidential nominee because it “would ring too much like Sarah Palin.”  In fact, and without knowing about this kerfluffle, I had exactly the same thought when I saw that Romney had South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley on his "short list."  It would be exactly what some (ahem) would expect from Romney,  whose campaign ideology seems to be one of meeting perceived  expectations of a group he really doesn't understand.  Conservatives.
