This was funny in 2008.  Now I realize how bigamistic I was to to laugh. You should too.

A Political Allegory

A MAN AND A  MULE
dead-mule.jpg
While hiking the Appalachian Trail, Jim's foot dislodged some loose shale, sending him ass over tin-cups into a rocky gorge 75 feet below.

 SPLAT!

It took several minutes for Jim to realize that he had, somehow, survived a certain death!  Then, the mighty stench kicked in.  He saw a mule's rotting head, with
empty, maggot eaten eye sockets staring blankly.

Whoa! He had quite miraculously landed atop the bloated corpse of this mule
that  had similarly fallen just days before.  It exploded under his mass, sending gases and offal spewing everywhere,  but cushioning his fall.

Gagging from the stink, and horrified by this specter, Jim (a fastidious man) suffered a massive heart attack and died on the spot.

Call Me GOOROO

AHEM

Saturday, August 22, 2015

So far I've pretty much ignored the 2015 Whack-a-Mole campaign season.  Try as I might, I just cannot concoct a believable scenario where Jimmy Stewart is elected president after Air Force General James Mattoon Scott ousts the Manchurian candiate president, and throws the lot down a volcano.  Only Donald Trump makes noise that interests me, and because he's thus scared the crap out of entrenched Republicans there seems to be a chance of removing some of the party's colon cancer (Boehner Blastoma). To wit:

  6/14/2016

Since I see a parallel between Trump-Clinton? & 1980's Reagan Carter contest—both being  the worst president in history at the time—Carter is now 3rd—I've included the polling history above.  In that race Reagan (32%) trailed Jummy (39%) in early June/July.  By early August Reagan was up  45% - 29%.  That lead that dropped to 47% - 44% on election day.  But, Reagan won 51% - 41%,  winning all but four states (including Maryland), and DC.  The term "silent majority' was born, and has driven Democrats nuts ever since (leading to  the Left's war against the "Christian coalition."  Anyway, bookmark this so you can give me the raspberries after the election, or marvel at my political prescience.

Jimmy Stewart and more

Ron Metzger "Hat Dance" sent me these pics.  I've been an inveterate collector of pictures found on the net since 1992, so it's a treat to find iconic images  I've never seen before.  This picture of Jimmy Stewart, home on leave,  and sitting in his dad's Indiana, Pennsylvania hardware store,  really resonated.  He was the real-deal solid American hero,  and real life nice guy.  And, talk about tolerant! Even though Jimmy was a staunchly conservative American, his best friend in Hollywood was Henry Fonda, a rat bastard commie mofo. So, who are today's ...whoops; I'm getting carried away. Sorry.

ACC countdown

I'm getting up for what may be the Terps last ever game in the ACC.  They play FSU at noon in the Carolina Jamboree, a.k.a. "ACC toonamit."  In the meanwhile, some light heartred crap is all I can muster. Hopefully one will add a little sunshine in your otherwise "I'm too knowledeable to be happy" life.  Lousy refs.

Lies about the debt ceiling

Enter stage left, Lord Smug and his many words

In remarks in the White House Rose Garden, the president linked two of the most high profile issues facing his presidency - the weak economy and a massive budget deal to meet an Aug. 2 deadline to increase the debt limit.

"The sooner we get this done, the sooner that the markets know that the debt limit ceiling will have been raised and that we have a serious plan to deal with our debt and deficit, the sooner that we give our businesses the certainty that will need in order to make additional investments to grow and hire," Obama said. [Grim jobs report]
Queen Arrogance

I can guarantee that everybody in the room has been subjected to the "if we don't increase the debt ceiling the world will end" harangue.  Noel Sheppard  [Media's Debt Ceiling Hysteria Ignores How Bonds, Budgets and Taxes Work] does a yoemanlike job of putting the lie to it all.

If you believe every word uttered by hysterical news anchors and political commentators lately, you would think the world ends August 2nd if the debt ceiling isn't raised.

Not only isn't this true, it's another indication of the press's total ignorance about our nation's budget and/or their willingness to lie to the American people in order to get taxes raised.

Sadly he resorts to using graphs and charts, stuff no Liberal and few women understand, so let me sum-up.  What does the wise consumer do when circumstances make it impossible to make the house payment?  Pay the monthly interest, and you'll not be pestered by the bank.  The Obamunist argument is rubbish.

Ten Times Right

Five Ten times the conspiracy theories turned out to be true

Being Right
  1. The Glomar Explorer and Project Azorian
  2. The Reichstag Fire
  3. The Cuban Project
  4. Andrew Young and John Edwards
  5. Watergate
Glomar, and John Edwards are pretty pedestrian examples.  Watergate - do you have a few days free?  Below are five more conspiracy theories of some consequence that turned out to be true.
  1. Warren Commission Report Doubters  — redacted information, eliminated testimony, and otherwise covered up. Much of which was the Kennedy-Mob-Cuba ties.
  2. Hillary's "Right Wing Conspirators" —  were right. Bill Clinton was a serial liar, rapist and perjurer.
  3. Global Warming Deniers —  were right. Anthropogenic global warming was the product of disreputable research grant seeking "scientists, True Believers, Scam artists,  and political opportunists who used it to increase their control over our economy.
  4. Birthers —  are right. Obama has not produced a valid birth certificate, is not eligible to be president, and his entire history seems to have been manufactured. Yes, it is proved, unless you're, well, dull? In the best way of course.
  5. I am right — all elected democrats and their enablers are liars.  No exceptions discovered to date.

Y'arrr. I be a Medved crazie

Taking Mr. Medved for a walk here boss

Boned Jello

I like Michael Medved a lot, and Lord knows he's a whole lot smarter than I.  But.  I think he got a little carried away with this  "deranged radicals crap" (60 second clip, I'll wait).
 ............................................................

In speaking my mind here, I know I reflect what some of the crazies he referred to also think.  Which is, the threat, nay, the duty, to rebel against tyrannical government is legitimate.  Successful revolt would necessarily require sizable support from those "uniformed heroes" he accuses us of wanting to fire on.  And that in turn means the threat must be clear and dangerous.  JFC, we are the cops and the military,  not underground anarchists  like Obama's Weathermen pals. Are the "Oath Keepers" fringe?

To take Medved seriously in this, is to deal away Jefferson's Tree of Liberty, just as JFK squandered the Monroe Doctrine - to our continued detriment.  I love you Mike, but you sound like you're currying favor with the left with this crap.  Blah-blah-blah.

Great Notions

Radical Housing Proposal of the Day

Boned Jello
I've come up with a radical scheme that could possibly work to end the housing crisis:

1) People that can't or won't pay their mortgage lose the house.
2) The banks take the house and sell it to people who can afford it.

There are a few flaws:

1) It doesn't require massive amounts of government money.
2) It doesn't protect people from their mistakes.
3) It doesn't punish responsible people who are patiently waiting for houses to become affordable.
4) It could result in the banks that helped create this mess failing.

In spite of these issues, I believe we should give it a try.  Pedigree, via Doug Ross

Glen Beck v. Che, Hitler and Stalin

Saturday Matinée

I stumbled across Glen Beck's  most excellent "The Cult of Che" last night.  It's the second? installment of his documentary series 'The Revolutionary Holocaust, that sets out to "correct progressive lies" - which of course is damned near everything.

The video on the right was the opener, and I'm just now watching it myself.   The Cao girl bundled the first five segments here.

Lessons

The Hong Kong of Africa?

Curmudgeonly & Skeptical

Bouake, the second largest metropolis in the Ivory Coast, seems to be 180° out of phase with ussens. Sigh.

Bouake is the ex-rebel capital of "Soroland", as the zone is sometimes nicknamed, after the New Forces leader, Guillaume Soro....Soroland may not be a breakaway zone, but for seven years the inhabitants of this zone have got used to living without government taxes, customs charges and even water and electricity bills....

Hussein Doumbia is one of many local business leaders who have learnt to profit from this vast black market zone.

"Things are a lot cheaper than in the south - we see that people from the south often come here to stock up, above all the military who come for all their electronics - mobile phones, DVDs, televisions, everything," he says.

When civil servants fled south, volunteer teachers, like Ali Ouattara, stepped forward to try to keep things going.

"We didn't want the kids to become child soldiers, so we tried to give them something. This is how we became teachers," says Mr Ouattara, who lost his job at the university at the start of the crisis....

Gradually with contributions from parents, the ad-hoc schools helped save a generation of children, and in some years the rebel zone got better results in national exams than the government zone.

Other volunteers helped cover for the absence of the state in other ways: setting up an ad-hoc postal service; their own television stations and some basic policing. [Reason]

The House Bitch

The NUTC's Choice

Red State's Dan Perrin looks at what happened Saturday night, and sees a bitch from hell throwing her babies into the fire for a moment of self aggrandizement.
Had Rep. Stupak’s amendment failed, the House bill would have failed.

No doubt, and the shock of seeing 64 Dem votes for Rep. Stupak’s don’t use public money to kill the innocents was a Maxell moment for both the Democratic and Republican House Leadership. No one predicted that high a Yes Dem vote.

The desperate position the Speaker must have been in to have to accept the Stupak amendment should not be understated. She and her pro-abortion pals understand that Stupak was a huge step down the path of America becoming a pro-life nation. They have imposed upon themselves and their ilk a negative precedent which cannot be undone.

Dropping the Stupak amendment in conference, should the bill pass the Senate, which I doubt — will mean the conference report will fail on the House floor.

Just think of the desperation of the Speaker, to be FORCED to accept this political price. She pivoted on abortion, and decided the Stupak amendment was worth the price to pass the bill.

For the Jamestown Kool-aid brigade of Dems who voted with the Speaker who are from Red States — you will die a hard and agonizing political death of your own making. Whatever rationale you used to vote for this politically and fiscally toxic bill $3 Trillion spending ObamaCare bill — you are wrong and you are TOAST. (Here is the Congressional Budget Office letter on the $3 Trillion in spending number.)

Rolling Stone Mag

Stoned for the first time
The tip-off was they slit their throats, after they were dead.  In Mexico they decapitate. --  How the Cartels Work

I spent a goodly time at the dentist Tuesday, and chose from the waiting room liberry a copy of Rolling Stone (Sept 17, 2009).  Had I ever  read a whole issue before?  Don't think so.  First thing were reader letters.  Here's all you need to catch the general drift of the mag's political slant, in case you thought a rag celebrating drugs and Hollywood might be conservative.

Is that great, or what?  Miss Suzanne Phipps finds a judging panel comprised of Gergen, Krugman, and Moore-the-Oaf  quite satisfactory, but where was the diversity?  Wonderful self-parody, that.  Since mags like this, I'm guessing, constitute a great % of this segment of the entertainment world's reading material, there should be no surprise that the industry is mindlessly leftist. I was not.

Particularly delicious is the Threat Assessment (shown above),  where the three best things to occur for we the people were Justice Sotomeyer, Obama bowling a 141, and Mexico legalizing pot.   Conversely, the three greatest threats to the Republic are Rep. Michelle Bachman threatening to run for President, "Sleaze ball" Tom DeLay "Dancing with Stars," And Exxon getting some Green award.   What a world they live in.

An article by Guy Lawson, "How the Cartels Work,"  was so engaging that I was  compelled to smuggle the copy out in order to finish it.  Oh stop.  I'll return it my next visit - Jan 19.    You can read the article here, but I found that this video captured about 90% of the written content, so I recommend that.   A real mess, that, and we have nowhere near the political will to do anything about it.
