"If you want to see what will happen in countries when the Muslims' numbers increase, listen to a video by Brigitte Gabriel doing an interview at Duke University.   She explains how Lebanon was a free, democratic country not too long ago and how they let anyone come to live there including Muslims.  It wasn't too long before road blocks and check points were set up.  If you weren't Muslim, often you were shot to death right then and there on the road.  Plus you will not believe some of the other evil stuff the Islamists did.  It is an amazing video"  (Commenting on the above video)

U.N. American Activities

U.N. American Activities

United Nations-affiliated election monitors from Europe and central Asia will be at polling places around the U.S. looking for voter suppression activities by conservative groups, a concern raised by civil rights groups during a meeting this week.
[...]
Liberal-leaning civil rights groups met with representatives from the OSCE this week to raise their fears about what they say are systematic efforts to suppress minority voters likely to vote for President Obama.

The intervention has drawn criticism from a prominent Conservative-leaning group combating election fraud. [Full]

Criticism?  Go figure?

Jummy Carter started this crap of inviting the U.N. to monitor our elections, as though we were some third world country.  I once polled the United States,  asking everyone to swear to shoot on sight any Blue Helmeted intruders, and as I remember it 100% of respondents did.   Draconian?  Hardly.  Of course,  since then we've allowed a president to give  Chinese spies unlimited access to his administration, and another has a steady stream of officially designated Moslem (and American) terrorists visiting the White House [Islamist radicals find warm welcome in Obama White House] But I digress.  Finish reading on your own.  Lest I stroke out. Or violate the court order to be civil to ratbastard democrats on Mondays.

U.N. takeover of the Internet must be stopped

THE UN MONSTER THAT ATE THE WORLD
U.N. takeover of the Internet must be stopped

Res Ipsa Loquitur

Democratic and Republican government officials warned this morning that a United Nations summit in December will lead to a virtual takeover of the Internet if proposals from China, Russia, Iran, and Saudi Arabia are adopted.
    [...]
“These are terrible ideas,” Rep. Fred Upton, a Michigan Republican, said during a U.S. House of Representatives hearing. They could allow “governments to monitor and restrict content or impose economic costs upon international data flows,” added Ambassador Philip Verveer, a deputy assistant secretary of state.

[...]
Called the World Conference on International Telecommunications, or WCIT, the summit will review a set of telecommunications regulations established in 1988, when home computers used dial-up modems, the Internet was primarily a university network, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was a mere 4 years old.

[...]
Unless the U.S. and its allies can block these proposals, they “just might break the Internet by subjecting it to an international regulatory regime designed for old-fashioned telephone service,” Rep. Greg Walden, an Oregon Republican said. [FULL]

Socialist Nations

Proposed:
Any member of the UN is a card carrying socialist nation

Rodger,

I hope you are feeling well with Christmas approaching.  If so, here’s a big downer for you.

We have been at war with communism for about 90 years.  Not all our politicians have been fully involved, but over time, we’ve stayed ahead of the commies.  The Soviet Union collapsed under the weight of socialism and Ronald Reagan.  However …

Filthy Democrats
Europe is socialist, despite proof it doesn’t work.  While their economies are collapsing, and the reason for the collapse is well known (socialist spending schemes), there is no rush away from socialism.  Russia and its former empire are heading backward toward communism, with few exceptions.  Asia is mostly communist or socialist, with China attempting to have it both ways with a semi-free economy in cities, but crushing socialism in the interior.  Only Japan and South Korea are not fully socialist.  India, which began as socialist, is having second thoughts.  There’s hope there.  South America and Africa are generally socialist.  Mexico is a socialist narco government, imitating Afghanistan.

The United States has been sliding toward socialism, and now has a communist president.  Republicans, supposedly the opposition, seem bent on going the same way, just more slowly.  Maybe not much more slowly anymore.

So Rodger, is the war already over?  Before we actually have a chance to win?  Look at a map and tell me what you think.  The communists may already have won.

Skoonj

Good points skoonj.  There does appear to be some disagreement about which countries are socialist/communist.  For instance, Wikipedia does not even hint that the United States is socialist despite this As a rule of thumb and four fingers, I propose that  any member of the UN is a card carrying socialist nation.

The UN- A Way Out!

NUKE THE UN
A light in the tunnel

UN funding from USA

Because of laws passed in the early 1990s that bar American funding for any U.N. agency that grants membership to Palestinians, Washington must now withhold $80 million from UNESCO, about 22% of its budget.

That excerpt from today's LA Times editorial Using the United Nations
"The lopsided vote for Palestine's entry into UNESCO shows how isolated the U.S. and Israel are."

The U.S. was on the losing side of a 107-14 vote in favor of membership, with 52 countries abstaining, including staunch U.S. ally Britain; another close European ally, France, voted in favor of the Palestinians. That result came in spite of a fevered campaign by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to shore up support in foreign capitals for the U.S. position (rather absurd theater given the Obamunist record)..

I'm always annoyed by our membership in the UN, and lately (since 9-11-2001) even more. Here are the actual voting records of various Arabic/Islamic States which are recorded in both the US State Department and United Nations records:

UN funding from USA
Kuwait votes against the United States 67% of the time Qatar votes against the United States 67% of the time→ Morocco votes against the United States 70% of the time→  United Arab Emirates votes against the United States 70% of the time→ . Jordan votes against the United States 71% of the time→ . Tunisia votes against the United States 71% of the time→ . Saudi Arabia votes against the United States 73% of the time→ . Yemen votes against the United States 74% of the time→ . Algeria votes against the United States 74% of the time→ . Oman votes against the United States 74% of the time→ . Sudan votes against the United States 75% of the time→ . Pakistan votes against the United States 75% of the time→ . Libya votes against the United States 76% of the time→ . Egypt votes against the United States 79% of the time→ . Lebanon votes against the United States 80% of the time→ . India votes against the United States 81% of the time→ . Syria votes against the United States 84% of the time→ . Mauritania votes against the United States 87% of the time . [Full]

BUT WAIT!  Did you catch that opening excerpt?  The one about "... laws passed in the early 1990s that bar American funding for any U.N. agency that grants membership to Palestinians ...?"  That means if the UN grant Palestine full UN membership, which appears more and more likely, it will be illegal for us to give them so much as a farthing!  I think the LA Times caught the significance of the law, because in true Liberal "blame the US" fashion, the editorial ends—

The anti-Palestine laws should be repealed.

Netfinger

George Soros, Netfinger
UN Internet agenda tied to George Soros

Soros is NETFINGER

"Frank La Rue, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on freedom of expression who made summer headlines when he proclaimed Internet access as a basic human right[...]

Advocates of net neutrality, a position championed by the billionaire Soros and by the U.N., argue governments must regulate private censorship and bandwidth online to ensure it remains open and free. Soros, a philanthropist known for supporting [very] liberal causes, has articulated his belief in the need for greater U.S. government regulation of the Internet." The Internet is good, therefore it's a "basic human right." Therefore, all the people around the world who work every second of every day to keep the Internet running must continue to do so, or else they're violating our human rights. That doesn't really sound enforcable. [In America, no; in AmeriKa, "enforcement" is a piece of cake] Hey, maybe Soros is just meddling in the Internet to shut up people who criticize him and the ideas he's promoting? [
UN Internet agenda tied to George Soros]

* " NETFINGER" coined by Jim Treacher

I snipped this comment at the time La Rue released his "report," wherein he claimed the internet was a human right.

David Collier-Brown says:

I wonder if this is something of a “category error”?

As a matter of policy, both the Canadian and U.S. governments contributed money and effort to rural electrification, to near-universal availability of telephones, and now to rural high-speed internet.

At the same time, none of the existing human rights legislation that I know of considers access to any of these a right.

Methinks we need a phrase, like the U.S. “pursuit of happiness”, which sums up things which one may or may not chose to have, but which cannot be frivolously denied to us…

Of course in its simplest form, we know net neutrality is evil because George Soros is funding the effort to make it happen.

It's Time To Send The UN to Hell ..

“theater of the absurd,”
I write to draw attention to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations today. As Daniel Patrick Moynihan demonstrated once upon a time, there is something especially thrilling about the truth being told in this particular forum (a “theater of the absurd,” in Netanyahu’s reckoning). It happens rarely, but it happened today. Attention should be paid: [Powerline]

And it was here in 1980, right here, that the historic peace agreement between Israel and Egypt wasn’t praised; it was denounced! And it’s here year after year that Israel is unjustly singled out for condemnation. It’s singled out for condemnation more often than all the nations of the world combined. Twenty-one out of the 27 General Assembly resolutions condemn Israel — the one true democracy in the Middle East.

Our Third Order of BusinessWell, this is an unfortunate part of the U.N. institution. It’s the — the theater of the absurd. It doesn’t only cast Israel as the villain; it often casts real villains in leading roles: Gadhafi’s Libya chaired the U.N. Commission on Human Rights; Saddam’s Iraq headed the U.N. Committee on Disarmament.

You might say: That’s the past. Well, here’s what’s happening now — right now, today. Hezbollah-controlled Lebanon now presides over the U.N. Security Council. This means, in effect, that a terror organization presides over the body entrusted with guaranteeing the world’s security. [Full]

Blowing Up The UN Extravaganza

10 of about 11293
In my second novel, "The Osterized Weekend" (Classic Press, out of print)  the action began with American  commandos blowing up the New York Times building. I'm thinking of updating and republishing it.  If I do, the opening sequence will have our heroes blowing up the UN Building.  While it's in session,  so no innocent cleaning service employess would be harmed.  This thought prompted by The top 10 UN-believable moments of 2010'
Coming in at No. 10 is the resolution to “combat defamation of religions”

At No. 9, we have an anti-Semitic classic — good old-fashioned blood libel in a session of the Human Rights Council

At No. 8, we have cheers for Hezbollah when Israel objects to Lebanon referring to it as a “Zionist entity on Palestinian territory.”

No. 7: Have you ever wondered what it might look like if the U.S. subjected itself to a peer review of its human rights record by the world’s leading violators of human rights?

But Wait ... this is easier:

... other forces are at work.

"This is not science;
other forces are at work."
- Hal Lewis

This is not science; other forces are at work -H Lewis

This is an important moment in science history. I would describe it as a letter on the scale of Martin Luther, nailing his 95 theses to the Wittenburg church door. It is worthy of repeating this letter in entirety on every blog that discusses science. Anthony Watts

It's not necessary for everybody to get so wrapped up in the science of the global warming fraud that it distracts from life, especially when people like Anthony Watts do it for us.  It is necessary that we know the truth about what's been going on however.  The resignation of a previously strong advocate of man caused climate change was a major big deal in that community, yet garnered nary a mention in the Algore media. I don't think any of us, me included, appreciate just how close we came, and still could, to abject slavery.

While Copenhagen and its excesses rage, a quiet revolution is starting.

Indeed, not so quiet now. It looks like it is getting ugly inside with the public airing of the resignation of a very prominent member who writes:

I don’t believe that any real physicist, nay scientist, can read that stuff without revulsion. I would almost make that revulsion a definition of the word scientist.
    …
In the interim the ClimateGate scandal broke into the news, and the machinations of the principal alarmists were revealed to the world. It was a fraud on a scale I have never seen, and I lack the words to describe its enormity. Effect on the APS position: none. None at all. This is not science; other forces are at work.- Hal Lewis
