Half of Detroit Votes May be Ineligible for Recount The Detroit News December 6, 2016 One-third of precincts in Wayne County could be disqualified from an unprecedented statewide recount of presidential election results because of problems with ballots. Michigan’s largest county voted overwhelmingly for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, but officials couldn’t reconcile vote totals for 610 of 1,680 precincts during a countywide canvass of vote results late last month. Most of those are in heavily Democratic Detroit, where the number of ballots in precinct poll books did not match those of voting machine printout reports in 59 percent of precincts, 392 of 662. According to state law, precincts whose poll books don’t match with ballots can’t be recounted. If that happens, original election results stand. “It’s not good,” conceded Daniel Baxter, elections director for the city of Detroit. He blamed the discrepancies on the city’s decade-old voting machines, saying 87 optical scanners broke on Election Day. Many jammed when voters fed ballots into scanners, which can result in erroneous vote counts if ballots are inserted multiple times. Poll workers are supposed to adjust counters to reflect a single vote but in many cases failed to do so, causing the discrepancies, Baxter said. Even so, Baxter said it’s unlikely all 392 of the city’s precincts with mismatched numbers will be disqualified from a recount. The city is in contact with elections officials at the state of Michigan and Baxter predicted the numbers will match when the ballot boxes are re-opened for the recount, which starts Tuesday in Wayne County at Cobo Center. “It’s a challenge, but we’re confident the ballots will match,” Baxter said. “I don’t think it’s going to be 100 percent, but it never is with a recount.” Dan in Ohio County reports obtained by The Detroit News, though, indicate canvassers were provided no explanation for why the numbers didn’t add up in those precincts. She launched her laughable recount effort in a vainglorious attempt to raise money. As Conservative Review’s Rob Eno explained: “Stein did this to increase her donor file. Many politicians ‘buy’ their donor files from their campaigns. It is a valuable source of income for the candidate. In a report on Ben Carson’s donor list an expert told NBC News that each email address of an active donor is worth $5-$6 on the open rental market over a three year period. Stein is looking to cash in.” Should Lisa Lyons’ bill pass in Michigan, it would be retroactive to Jan. 1, 2016, forcing Jill Stein to pay for her own demands. It would justifiably save the state’s taxpayers millions, and stick it to the Green Party con artist. ASIDE: Sorry this is so late. Michigan Appeals Court Order to Halt Recount Sets Up Conflict with Federal Courts FLASH BACK It looks increasingly likely that at least one member of the United States Senate may owe his seat in the world’s greatest deliberative body not to his charisma or the persuasiveness of his message but to voter fraud. As the Wall Street Journal's John Fund reports, Minnesota Democrat Al Franken’s narrow, 312-vote victory in 2008 over incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman may have come as the result of people being allowed to vote who, under existing law, shouldn’t have been. It also sparked an investigation by Minnesota Majority, a conservative watchdog group that compared the list of those recorded as having voted in the election against what Fund calls “criminal rap sheets.” The group found, in what appears to clearly warrant further and official inquiry, that … At least 341 convicted felons voted in Minneapolis's Hennepin County, the state's largest, and another 52 voted illegally in St. Paul's Ramsey County, the state's second largest. Dan McGrath, head of Minnesota Majority, says that only conclusive matches were included in the group's totals. The number of felons voting in those two counties alone exceeds Mr. Franken's victory margin. [FULL] SIDE BAR:  Coleman was initially named the winner. It was only after a series of recounts, where new ballots were "discovered," that a Minnesota judge ruled that enough was enough and gave the seat to Franken. This was the same tactic Democrats used in Maryland, and Washington state. Failed Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein sued for a recount in Michigan. That suit has created tension between Michigan’s state government and the federal government. Tuesday evening, Michigan’s Court of Appeals ordered a halt to the recount, saying Stein was not an aggrieved candidate who would benefit from a recount. At the same time, the 6th Circuit ruled the must proceed. [FULL] The state panel said that to qualify as “aggrieved,” Stein “must be able to allege a good faith belief that but for mistake or fraud,” she would have had a reasonable chance of winning.” Without going back for the actual numbers, I'll say the SCOTUS ruled  472 times that a challenger to Obama's eligibility (phony birth certificate) "had no standing."  End of story. Here's what worries me about Jill Stein's farcical recount scheme.  We know from past Democrat challenges to the election of a GOP candidate what he game is. Just get it close enough.  Somewhere in a warhouse misplaced, uncounted ballots, will surface and .... you know.

... on top of a telephone wire Unplugged I'm surely not the only person who's noticed the "coming out" of publications that were generally reliably conservative that now,  in the matter of Trump, are dancing with the New York Times.  One is the Washington Examiner. Example: Carney: The death of Republican outrage? It's well and good to point out the inconsistency of liberals who defended Bill Clinton in the 1990s and are attacking Donald Trump now. But sometimes inconsistency means moving from error to correct opinion. The Clinton-defenders-turned-Trump-attackers might be partisan hacks, and they might be insincere in their concern for women, but this time around they are correct. The important thing is, we conservatives were right back then. And we should have the same standards today. THEIR ERRORS DO NOT MITIGATE TRUMP'S SINS This is freaking bizarre.  The below mentioned WaPost's "no, we are not making this endorsement simply because Ms Clinton's chief opponent is dreadful" reasoning is typical. No argument advanced that delves into Trump's inadequacy as a leader of men, failed business acumen, lack of success, or any other reasonable measure executive ability.  Instead we get feigned outrage over locker room "grab'em by the pussy" talk—that every man in the world has engaged in—and used as a disqualifier.  In the next breath we are told that Hillary history isn't worthy of discussion. Nine months later a vote in an election was cast under Cluck’s name. John Grosso of Denver, a father, grandfather and World War II veteran died on Dec. 13, 2004, and records show that Grosso then voted two years later, in a 2006 primary election. El Paso County officials have found 78 dead people on their voter rolls after the CBS4 report was published and they have previously removed 448 people from the registered voter list since 2012. yadda yadda yad ....

Even before the FBI identified new cyber attacks on two separate state election boards, the Department of Homeland Security began considering declaring the election a "critical infrastructure," giving it the same control over security it has over Wall Street and and the electric power grid. At the time, Johnson did not mention specific security issues, but the FBI has since cited one hack and another attempt. The latest admissions of attacks could speed up that effort possibly including the upcoming presidential election, according to officials. "We should carefully consider whether our election system, our election process, is critical infrastructure like the financial sector, like the power grid," Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said. "There's a vital national interest in our election process, so I do think we need to consider whether it should be considered by my department and others critical infrastructure," he said at media conference earlier this month hosted by the Christian Science Monitor. [Arghhhhhhhh] Let's get this straight.  A government that fights tooth and nail against any effort to require voter ID, and have expanded the early voter system to a month before the election (making it impossible to monitor); and are now facing the possibility, if not likelihood, of massive voter revolt,  now decide they must protect this  "critical infrastructure"  by turning the process over to ... themselves?  Suggestions?
