Concealed carrier takes down
shooter at South Carolina nightclub
Thank the Lord it wasn't Maryland 'cause we all be kilt.

A South Carolina man is facing multiple attempted murder charges after he opened fire on a crowd gathering outside a nightclub early Sunday, police said.

Deputies with Spartanburg County said 32-year-old Jody Ray Thompson pulled out an illegally carried firearm during an argument with another man and fired several rounds toward a crowd outside Playoffz nightclub in Lyman, a local NBC News affiliate reported.
His rounds struck 3 victims, and almost struck a fourth victim, who in self-defense, pulled his own weapon and fired, striking Thompson in the leg,” Lt. Kevin Bobo said.

Lt. Bobo said the man who shot Mr. Thompson, who has not been identified, has a valid concealed weapons permit and will not face any charges.

None of the victims’ injuries were life-threatening, police said.

Citizens w/guns

The four volunteer “good guys” were placed into three different scenarios:
  • A workplace mass killing, where a fired employee came back to shoot up his office after being terminated. The “good guy” is armed with a handgun as the “bad guy” enters the office and indiscriminately opens fire with an AR-15 while wearing body armor.
  • A terrorist attack eerily similar to San Bernardino where a terrorist forces his way into a packed conference room and begins executing hostages with an AR-15 while wearing body armor.
  • A workplace domestic violence situation, where an armed husband threatens his wife in her office with a gun.

Our sister site Bearing Arms has video of a fascinating experiment conducted by a DFW television affiliate as to whether an armed citizen stands a reasonable chance of materially affecting the outcome in an active shooter situation. One of the tiresome canards of the left is that citizens with concealed handguns would be of absolutely no value in an actual active shooter situation versus someone with a rifle.

To put this theory to the test, the television station pitted four ordinary gun owners with various levels of firearm training against a 22-year veteran SWAT cop with highly specialized training. The least experienced shooter had only 6 hours of training, like you would get in a standard CCP class. The most experienced had 50 hours of handgun training from the DFW shooters academy.

Full Experiment Proves that Armed Citizens CAN Take Down an Active Shooter

Was there ever any real doubt about this?

Home Inavder Pays The Price

The woman was working in an upstairs office when she spotted a strange man outside a window, according to Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman. He said she took her 9-year-old twins to a crawlspace before the man broke into the home,  using a crowbar.
The perpetrator opens that door. Of course, at that time he's staring at her, her two children and a .38 revolver," Chapman told WSB-TV.
The woman then shot him five times, but he survived, Chapman said. He said the woman ran out of bullets but threatened to shoot the intruder if he moved.

Illinois Gun Victory

Huge victory for gun owners

“We are disinclined to engage in another round of historical analysis to determine whether eighteenth-century America understood the Second Amendment to include a right to bear guns outside the home,” Judge Richard Posner wrote in the court’s majority opinion.

“The Supreme Court has decided that the amendment confers a right to bear arms for self-defense, which is as important outside the home as inside. The theoretical and empirical evidence (which overall is inconclusive) is consistent with concluding that a right to carry firearms in public may promote self-defense,” he continued.

“Illinois had to provide us with more than merely a rational basis for believing that its uniquely sweeping ban is justified by an increase in public safety. It has failed to meet this burden,” Posner wrote.

Enter Lib-Think:

The Illinois legislature reasonably concluded that if people are allowed to carry guns in public, the number of guns carried in public will increase, and the risk of firearms-related injury or death in public will increase as well

Gun homicides in Chicago(2001-2111) totaled 5588, or an average 508 per year. Recent Drudge headlines scream "Chicago 2012 Homicide Total Reaches 500." I'm just saying.

Using common sense and leisurely collected anecdotal evidence, one might conclude that the overwhelming majority of these killings were perped by the city's lawless street thugs.  So then, it is true that—in the short term— "the number of guns carried in public will increase, and the risk of firearms-related injury or death (by a public defending themselves and shooting MFCS) will increase as well."

 Boo-Hoo, and Pass the Ammunition.

And, as an aside—stop me if I've said this before—our prisons are choked with gang members sporting tattood gang membership badges.  A condition of membership. in many of these gangs is killing somebody.  So, my first act as Dear Leaser will be to cull through our prison population and dispatch them all, willy nilly..  In California alone the roll of illegals would be sliced in half.   I'm just saying.

Stop Thief!

Garden Grove, CA

"They demanded everyone get down on the ground. They asked for valuables inside the store," Nightengale said.

Moments later, the 65-year-old owner whipped out her handgun and shot two rounds at the group of thugs, sending them scrambling out the front door.
"She felt her life was in jeopardy. She felt it was appropriate action to protect those people in the store," Nightengale added.

The store owner declined to comment on her heroic actions.Police say the suspects could be the same men who tried to rob another jewelry store at the Asian Garden Mall in Westminster one day later. In that heist, the store owner shot a suspect in the face. Garden Grove police say it may be the same crew, but they caution store owners about defending themselves with guns.

When Guns Stopped A Massacre

When Guns Stopped A Massacre

Res Ipsa Loquitor

On February 12, 2007, a lone gunman, Sulejman Talovic opened fire at the crowded Trolley Square shopping mall killing five bystanders. Armed with a shotgun with a pistol grip, a 38-caliber handgun with rubber grips, and a backpack full of ammunition, he set forth on his rampage through the Mall.

But he did not get as far as he had hoped.

He was stopped when off-duty police officer Kenneth Hammond of the Ogden City Police Department who was at Trolley Square having an early Valentine’s Day dinner with his pregnant wife. When they heard shots, she called 911 and he drew his weapon and confronted Talovic. He was joined by Sgt. Andrew Oblad of the Salt Lake City Police Department. They pinned down Talovic, stopping further deaths, until a SWAT team from the Salt Lake City Police Department killed him.

Hammond, a man with a weapon, was credited with saving “countless lives.”

In Aurora, Colorado, there were no armed bystanders and Holmes was unimpeded in his deadly rampage. Gun control advocates use the grizzly story of the Aurora movie theater to push their cause. But common sense tells us that it is easier to put guns into the hands of law-abiding citizens and to instruct them in their use than to keep them away from the insane or evil people who perpetrate these shootings.

If the movie-goers in Aurora had one or two armed and trained men or women, the shooting would have gone the way of the Trolley Square massacre, not the bloodier outcome in Aurora. [
