Krauthammer v. Limbaugh

The Duelists
Q. When two people you have the utmost respect for square off, holding diametrically opposed positions, who do you root for?

A. The one who's on the right side.

Krauthammer: Palin & DeMint Endorsements of O'Donnell are Destructive, Capricious, and Irresponsible

The Limbaugh Rule: Vote for Most Conservative Candidate in Primary

Charles Krauthammer: The Palin endorsement, I think, is disruptive and capricious. Bill Buckley had a rule that he always supported the most conservative candidate who was electable; otherwise the vote is simply self-indulgence.

Baier: Now Jim DeMint, from South Carolina, also endorsed Christine O'Donnell:

Krauthammer: equally capricious and irresponsible. I'm not sexist on this. It's a big mistake....

We still have people who think that professional Washington politicians are the way to fix this, and clearly it isn't.  Some of these people are citing the Buckley Rule.  ...  I know what the Buckley Rule is.  ... You vote for the Republican, slash, conservative who can win.  To me, this requires clairvoyance ...

Okay, let's just assume that it's correct. Let's assume that Christine O'Donnell is down in the polls, Democrat polls, by the way, by 25 points.  Okay, fine.  If she's the best option we have to stop what's going on once she gets to Washington, why not try to make up the 25 points?  We got socialism, communism, liberalism on the ropes.  It's too risky?  Let me tell you something.  It's worth the risk.  We're talking about saving the [blank] damn country.  What do you mean, too risky?

Conservative Comedians - Who Knew?

I know many of you will remember Evan Sayet's five star "speech of the century," How Modern Liberals Think.  Sayet was once a joke writer for Bill Maher, until he couldn't anymore  I ran into him again today at Rightnetwork's Right2Laugh: series premiere (embedded above).  I was fearful going in.  Yes, fearful that this attempt at conservative comedy would be as dreadful as FNC's“ 1/2 Hour News Hour."  What's that?  You never heard of it?  That's right.  Okay, a few of the sketches had merit; very few. Fox dropped it.

Sayet hosts this one, and while I've only watched two sets so far (so excited am I to offer something fun), I'm giddy over the possibilities.  Humor is a powerful weapon, and so far the left has owned the venue.  .

Saudi Arabia May Receive $90 Billion in U.S. Arms
If consummated, the sale comes at a moment when Saudi society is in flux, facing heightened contradictions. Saudi king Abdullah, who has made various attempts  at social and political reform, remains isolated and opposed by many of his retrogressive family members and the official Wahhabi clerics.  Irfan al-Alawi and Stephen Schwartz
The Wahabbis of course schooled all (or nearly all) of the 9-11 bombers. Ahem.

So here we have it.  A president named (and acting like it) "Hussein," who is famously anti-American in thought, word and deed; and who pisses away a  billion dollars like it was a party favor,  wants this $90B.  Me too, except I know that nearly all of it will be used to solidify his radical political base, just like nearly all the rest of the $900B in "shovel ready" stimulus funds have.  Also, is the technology he is selling comparable to the missile guidance technology Bill Clinton sold to the Chinese Red Army?  Because anything the Saudis get is likely to become available via lend-lease to any group that hates our guts and promises to use it.  I don't for a second think that would bother Barry. I don't trust him. The country can't afford to.

Note that I didn't call Obama a prick, so everything here should pass muster.

PRUDEN: The time to fight is a time to flee
Here we go again. Republicans just can't help acting like Republicans.
Surrender first, fight later, but only if absolutely necessary. It's in their DNA -

Republican elites have no taste for tea, not even of the mildest Ladies' Fruitberry Herbal variety. The elites have been rattled by the Tea Party revolt, not sure what it means, nor whether and how it can be controlled (or, preferably, becalmed). Instead Mr. Boehner and his timid fellows think the revolt against Barack Obama  and his radical agenda is all their doing. They're unable to comprehend the fact that the Republican triumph in November, if there is one, will be because the Republicans are the only available alternative. Any lifeboat looks good if you're standing in a cold rain on the deck of a sinking ship, no matter who you might have to sit next to.

There is no right way to do the wrong thing

It appears this ethic (that I call "There is no right way to do the wrong thing") is taking root.  I'm not real sure about Sen. Mitch McConnell's core values, other than survival, but he quickly sensed the negative vibrations after Boehner  agreed to ride in Obama's tax the rich posse, and responded with "new correctness." - "Forget Boehner; We'll Filibuster."

Today's Delaware Republican primary is I think a bellwether event.  The GOP establishment has waged total war on the conservative, Teaparty backed candidate running against their designated RINO.  If Christine O'Donnell manages to beat Mike Castle, as I suspect she will, winning the general will be icing on the cake.

Even as Democrats  ponder "life without Pelosi," and who among their leadership, if any, will survive, the question  for the good guys is, will, or even should, the GOP survive at all?  Certainly any vestige of the old leadership must be vacuumed up with extreme prejudice.  As many Whig leaders did in 1860, when they followed their voter base to the Republican Party, it may  be time for another migration.  The old GOP guard will make a wonderful base for a reconstructed Democrat Party, and thirty years or so of honest government will ensue.
