Trump's Lust for Respect Makes National Unity Implausible (But, is that a bad thing?) Jonah Goldberg writes: “For many years,” Donald Trump tweeted Sunday afternoon, “our country has been divided, angry and untrusting. Many say it will never change, the hatred is too deep. IT WILL CHANGE!!!!” As persuasive as the ALL CAPS are, I have my doubts. Put aside Trump’s specific shortcomings for the moment. The presidency has become ill-suited to the task of unifying the country, because the presidency has become the biggest prize and totem in the culture war. Like the religious wars between Catholics and Protestants in England, if one side controls the throne, it is seen as an insult and threat to the other. And whoever holds the throne is seen as a kind of personal Protector of the Realm. The political parties have been utterly complicit in the process. Exploiting social media and other technologies, Republicans and Democrats shape their messages around the assumption that they — and they alone — have legitimate ownership of America’s authentic best self. That’s why whichever party is out of power promises to “take back America” — as if the other side were foreign invaders. Barack Obama was elected in 2008 in no small part to fulfill the promise of his 2004 Democratic Convention keynote address: to banish the slicing and dicing of America into Red States and Blue States. The colors of the electoral map may have been smudged and scrambled over the last eight years, but the underlying polarization Obama inherited from George W. Bush only intensified on his watch. Trump will be the third president in a row to promise to unite the country, and he will almost certainly be the third in a row to fail. [ETC] I have, a few times over the years, hyperbolically offered that what this nation needs is a benevolent dictator, and volunteered myself as being ideal for the job.  Like, for example, since California's prisons are choked with felons sporting gang tats, which membership require that newbies murder someone, I promised to use that prima facie evidence and execute them all for murder-one.  Now!  Stuff like that.  Harsh for the perps, good for the commonweal. Well, guess what?  It's like I've invoked string theory and created  that very world in the multiverse (which is where we are right now. Else you wouldn't be reading this, and Donald Trump wouldn't be President elect) Oui? So, what Jonah says makes all the sense in a world — a world that had not yet experienced the horrors of Clinton, and Obama occupations.  Nor been dragged into a one world government vortex by the Bushmen.  This, today, is that world.  I will posit again that Mr. Trump is the only person on earth who can assume that roll of benevolent dictator, and save our nation from governance by the United Nations (again, hyperbolically). Even if he doesn't clean out Cally prisons. You know I'm right. That very moment when the final election results were announced we witnessed an explosion of green slimy ectoplasm—the very personification of evil— Hillary  adherents writhing in twisted agony just like ... like in Ghost Busters.  You know I'm right. So, this avenging angel, Trump, will hopefully do what he has to do.  Eviscerate the infrastructure that's allowed people like Obama to seize power behind a bodyguard of media lies, misdirection, and pure evil.  Sunshine is just around the corner. .

In the past, and we're talking 14 years here, a sudden sparsity of blog posting was due to miasma.  Now it's due, largely, by having so much to rail about that I don't know where to begin.  Okay, there is a certain miasma, perhaps, in that I really can't see a way to to reverse our country's slide into .. into something that was unimaginable even 20 years ago.  Where tyranny by a minority trumps the constitution and half the population applauds.  I reached a point where I was so filled with hatred for anyone I saw as part of the problem, aka anyone who was not apologetic for ever voting for any Democrat, that, not only was I miserable, but I made anyone around me .... erm, uncomfortable.  Odd as it seems, a turning point came when MoSup and I began watching the Blue Bloods series.  Every episode rang true—well, except for the Black mayor who is not only open to suggestion, but shows a good deal of common sense to boot.  There are no Democrat politicians in my experience who have those qualities (but it is the liberal wet dream, as witness the Black President in the 24 series, who, with the verisimilitude rating of minus-6, is more Thomas Jefferson than Brok Obama).  Anyway, at the end of each episode the Reagan family get together for a family meal, a wonderful model for any family.  It's here that — one reader here called it the "Greek Chorus"— they toss around current events, ideas and philosophies.  I felt good after every episode; I think because so many of the values I grew up with were in evidence.  I did that video a month ago.  That's how far behind I am.  Maybe its the cork in the monkeys ass.

Launched yesterday, it's way early to be predicting how successful Rightnetwork will be.  However, I've found a reliable bellwether in these matters is to look at the asshat left response as a gauge to the perceived threat.   Example: Sarah Palin.  Her surprise selection as McCain's running mate two years ago ='d  mass left-tard hysteria. Within days McCain took his first lead in some polls, and the entire television news and entertainment universe was devoted to trashing her.  "Unqualified hick hack" ; "no experience" ; "poor speaker without a teleprompter"; "no birth certificate ," blah, blah, blah.  Between SNL skits however, the left found it necessary to trigger "ruin the economies of every nation on Earth," a.k.a.  Plan B From Outer Space in order to save Obama's ass.    It is then a scientific certainty that threat level is directly proportional to the level of smug, condescending, and ad hominem insults forthcoming. Segue TV HUNTER “ "Today, we step forward get the party started … because that's how we roll, like a powerful elephant and a nimble gazelle combo -- a gazelephant. I'm not attempting here to draw direct parallels betwixt General Stanley Allen McChrystal and General Edwin Walker, but a tenuous association is inescapable. Walker was sacked by Robert McNamara (JFK) in 1961.  “ In 1959, General Walker was sent to Germany to command the 24th Infantry Division. In 1961, however, he became involved in controversy. Because I've just come across a letter she wrote to her fellow Americans on November 6th of last year. I did not vote for Barack Obama; I wrote in Ron Paul's name as my choice for president. Most importantly, I am not race conscious. I do not require a black president to know that I am a person of worth, and that life is worth living. I do not require a black president to love the ideal of America. I cannot join you in your celebration. I feel no elation. There is no smile on my face. I am not jumping with joy. There are no tears of triumph in my eyes. I would have to believe that "fairness" is equivalent of justice. I would have to believe that man who asks me to "go forward in a new spirit of service, in a new service of sacrifice" is speaking in my interest. I would have to accept the premise of a man that economic prosperity comes from the "bottom up," and who arrogantly believes that he can will it into existence by the use of government force. I would have to admire a man who thinks the standard of living of the masses can be improved by destroying the most productive and the generators of wealth. Finally, Americans, I would have to erase from my consciousness the scene of 125,000 screaming, crying, cheering people in Grant Park, Chicago irrationally chanting "Yes We Can!" Finally, I would have to wipe all memory of all the times I have heard politicians, pundits, journalists, editorialists, bloggers and intellectuals declare that capitalism is dead - and no one, including especially Alan Greenspan, objected to their assumption that the particular version of the anti-capitalistic mentality that they want to replace with their own version of anti-capitalism is anything remotely equivalent to capitalism. So you have made history, Americans. You and your children have elected a black man to the office of the president of the United States, the wounded giant of the world. The battle between John Wayne and Jane Fonda is over - and that Fonda won. Eugene McCarthy and George McGovern must be very happy men. Jimmie Carter, too. And the Kennedys have at last gotten their Kennedy look-a-like. The self-righteous welfare statists in the suburbs can feel warm moments of satisfaction for having elected a black person.
