Coals to Newcastle

"To carry Coals to Newcastle, that is to do what was done before; or to busy one's self in a needless imployment."

The Circle of Jerks went blind the other day over a quote from Scott Walker about ultrasounds prior to an abortion being “cool.” The Politico ran it. Various left leaning journalists circulated it. It’s as if they had an email server and they all descended at once with their stories printed on kleenex.
The only problem is that the story was made up. Some of the lefty journalists refused to retract their stories even after the quote was proven to be fabricated. It just fit their narrative too well.
Now comes another one and this time it involves Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100%. Cruz opposed an aid package for Hurricane Sandy. But now he is supporting an aid package for Texas floods. The left-leaning New York Daily News swung into attack mode and with it came the very same “journalists”who had attacked Scott Walker. But, like with Walker, they got their keyboards sticky and their story completely wrong.
Legal Insurrection has the complete play by play. The issue here is that no one in the Circle of Jerks has the ability to nuance. They go straight for the release as quickly as possible and leave out every detail imaginable that does not fit their narrative.
For example, the Texas flooding happened this week. The Hurricane Sandy aid package was formulateda month after the hurricane hit. It was not emergency spending by any stretch of the imagination.
Next, Cruz was not alone in his opposition to the Sandy package because  .... http://www.redstate.com/2015/05/28/the-circle-of-jerks-turns-from-scott-walker-to-ted-cruz/

“The difference between Bush’s mistakes and his disappointments may just be that he hasn’t yet taken ownership of the latter,” Massimo Calabresi wrote in Time as he covered President George W. Bush’s final press conference in January of 2009. Four years earlier, left-wing journalist John Dickerson had begun a trend among the Bush White House press corps, demanding from the President a recognition of his mistakes.

Dickerson, now like George Stephanopoulos, plays an objective Sunday news program questioner and he, along with the circle of jerks who pose as objective reporters of the Obama Administration, would rather blame George W. Bush for ISIS, and not Barack Obama. But, objectively, in 2009 as George W. Bush left the White House, the surge had worked, Iraq was stabilizing, Iran was on the sidelines, and ISIS did not exist.

When Barack Obama entered the White House, he had made a campaign promise to get out of Iraq. On July 14, 2008, then candidate Barack Obama wrote in the New York Times, “We can safely redeploy our combat brigades at a pace that would remove them in 16 months. That would be the summer of 2010 — two years from now, and more than seven years after the war began.” Politifact, which once attacked those who said President Obama was lying with his claim that you could keep your doctor only to then declare the President’s claim a lie, has never wavered from declaring President Obama has stuck to his Iraq withdrawal plan.

In fact, the Obama Administration was so intent on withdrawal, it is now both documented and accepted as fact that the Obama Administration ran from negotiating an agreement to keep American troops in Iraq. Dexter Filkins, writing in the New Yorker’s April 28, 2014, issue, documented our disastrous withdrawal.  This Way Comes

At the beginning of this year, President Obama referred to ISIS as junior varsity. Later in the year he declared them amateurs. Less than three weeks ago the President said he had no strategy to combat ISIS. Less than two weeks ago, President Obama referred to the non-ISIS rebels in Syria as farmers incapable of leading the resistance against ISIS. This past Wednesday night, President Obama’s bold new strategy is to arm the very rebels he says are incapable of leading resistance to ISIS.
But who are the rebels? They are people who have been in a civil war against the Syrian government. But from the rebels have also come loyal foot soldiers for ISIS. How does the President know the rebels will not use our weapons and funds to fight Syria instead of ISIS? Likewise, how does the President know some of the rebels will not take our weapons to ISIS?
More troubling, how does the President know these rebels will not turn on us? And is it not possible the Syrian government and ISIS may now make an alliance of convenience to rapidly and jointly crush the rebels? The sad truth is Barack Obama knows the answers to none of those questions, but wants Congress to approve sending arms and training to the rebels anyway. More DOOM! from the polls.

Vivint Solar Update

People With Glass Roofs ....
This is an update to my previous post about our free solar panel deal.  Tuesday night we were having dinner when  Vivint Energy Consultant (our salesman) Weston Marlowe stopped by for a follow-up.  Impressive after sale response, and we appreciated it.  His phone number is 757 329 0115; e-mail weston.marlowe@vivintsolar.com.  If you (from any state) want to look into, or have questions answered about how this program works, feel free to contact him.

Those bastids!

WTFF!?

What a  disturbing the development ...  I'm watching ESPN's  A Football Life_John Riggins that I recorded overnight.  Amazingly when I try to skip through the commercials like I always do it wouldn't do it !  Remember- this is recorded on my DVR, and once the commercial ends I can FF through the story. Have they figured out a way to keep people from skipping through commercials?  This has got to be Verizon allowing this.   What a revolting development.

Voice dictation sent from my Ipad.

UPDATE
This afternoon I was able to FF the commercials.  Another Verizon FIOS anomaly I reckon.

As an aside, I've had a poison ivy rash that will match or surpass anything you'll see in this gallery.   My Doc put me on 2 weeks of  steroids a few days ago.  He warned that among possible side effects I might have trouble sleeping, and that was spot—on!  But, lack of sleep hasn't left me without energy.  Earlier this morning—about two-ish—I drove to the local batting cage, and damned if I didn't hit 62 home runs! DECLASSIFIED DOCS: HILLARY AIDED RISE OF ISIS
Confirm reports of U.S. arming Middle East jihadists

I saw that headline; HILLARY AIDED RISE OF ISIS; and remembered a comment I read earlier in the week.

"I read this and I think I must have slid into a parallel universe where history does not exist. Because not that long ago, I blogged on the same issues based on a TIME Magazine story titled  ...."  Liberal angst on the civil-military divide. Part 1000 by  Erick Erikson

Indeed, no sentient human can have escaped similar feelings when the owned media suddenly find it convenient to belatedly report an old story in order to reverse some political polarity (like reporting decades old Hillary crimes because they are now backing Obama); or because it had become impossible to ignore the elephant in the china shop (like Clinton's impeachment crimes).

We knew via news reports after the Benghazi terror attack, on September 11, 2012, that Hillbat and boss had mucked things up, again, and were hiding documents under the carpets.  Here's a snippet from a year old report about
how how Obama birthed ISIS.

Administration policy has fanned the rebellion in Syria and kept it going for three full years, while doing nothing to bring it to a successful close. Sometimes the administration has explicitly tried to keep the rebels in a stalemate with Assad; Secretary of State Kerry said that it was his policy to do just that, in order to promote negotiations and “peace.” The result, so obvious as to make that statement a shameless Orwellianism, has been to keep the war dragging on.

This has provided the hothouse for the growth of the extremist Islamic State. In due course, it spilled over from Syria into Iraq, and it has issued threats against the American homeland. The Obama-Kerry policy has also made for the more than 190,000 deaths in Syria, 500,000 wounded, and 8 million refugees (more than 2 million abroad, 6 million inside Syria) — this, out of a population of about 22 million. [How Obama Caused ISIS; August 27, 2014]

So, everyone without blinders on saw the danger. And  now this: ISIS Leader Admits: We Are Being Funded By The Obama Administration

Gird your loins.  I foresee a scenario where Martin O'Malley, a known Obama peg boy, and almost certainly the Dems 2016 nominee, will start pinning some blame on this administration (mistakes were made).  If he plays to form though, he'll find a way to show how it was all Bush's fault.

A Bad, Bad Agency

[How EPA flooded the zone on water rule] ...

What McCarthy did not mention, and what was reported last week in the The New York Times, is that the EPA used government resources to coordinate with environmentalist groups in order to achieve this 90 percent support. Through an intense effort in what is known as "grassroots lobbying," the government worked to encourage people on one side of the debate to make their voices heard, so as to skew perceptions of public opinion.

In addition to meeting behind closed doors with environmentalist leaders supportive of the rule, the agency used a social media tool called Thunderclap. It is like Kickstarter, but users donate social media shares instead of money. By getting just under 1,000 left-wing activists to sign on, the EPA was able to urge 1.8 million people in their political circles, all at once, to comment favorably on the proposed rule. This helped generate levels of support for the rule more appropriate to Saddam Hussein's re-election results than to any serious issue discussed in a democracy ......

BLUE BLOODS MOMENT

Tom Selleck stars as Frank Reagan, the chief of police in New York and patriarch of the Reagan clan, a multigenerational family of cops. Frank's oldest son is Danny, a seasoned detective and Iraqi War veteran who occasionally uses dubious tactics to solve cases. Daughter Erin, the lone female, is an assistant district attorney. Fresh out of Harvard Law, Jamie is the youngest member and "golden boy" of the family. Jamie gave up a lucrative future in law to continue the family's tradition in police work, and is asked to participate in a secretive investigation that even his father does not know about.

I've mentioned that Blue Bloods has become our all time favorite dinner series, primarily because we always feel good at the end.  Here's a clip from  the episode (Loss of Faith) we watched last night (Netflix) that's representative.  In this instance a nice Catholic girl dies because she retrograded to Islam.  The obvious suspect is the the hateful, radical brother of the  Muslim  kid she fell for (an honor killing).  Not. Her father accidentally strangled her whilst trying to stop her from leaving home.

Every show ends at the family dinner table, and here's a situation where we might expect a wholesale Hollywood rant about homophobic, Islamo hating right-wing fanatic mo-fkrs.  But no; there is room to recognize cultural differences (and subtle disapprobation for certain parties, ahem),  but a need to accommodate where we can.  With humor.

Missing Bill

It doesn't matter  what party you belong to - this is good natured political humor from a show on Canadian TV, where Ian Brown, a black commedian,  said he misses Bill Clinton.

"Yep, that's right -      I miss Bill Clinton *He was the closest thing we ever got to having a real black man as
President.

*He played the sax.

*He smoked      weed.

*He had his way with      ugly white women.

*Even now? Look at him ... His wife works, and he doesn't!  And, he gets a check from the government every month.

*Manufacturers   announced today that they will be stocking America 's shelves this week  with " Clinton Soup," in honor of one of the nations' distinguished men. It consists primarily of a hot dog in hot water.

*Chrysler Corporation is adding a new car to its line to honor Bill Clinton. The Dodge Drafter will be built in Canada.

*When asked what he   thought about foreign affairs, Clinton replied, "I don't know, I never  had one."

*The Clinton revised  judicial oath: "I solemnly swear to tell the truth as I know it, the  whole truth as I believe it to be, and nothing but what I think you need  to know."

*Clinton will be      recorded in history as the only President to do Hanky Panky between the   Bushes.

CASHBACK

cinema à la carte

I won't kid you; it's obvious why I might have been drawn to "CASHBACK."  Twice.  I like retail store movies.  Seriously.  I watched "Career Opportunities" several times back in the day, and really liked The Good Girl.   The supermarket scene in Animal House was a triumph. Even more srsly, someone recently recommended it to me, and when I pulled it up on Netflix I discovered I'd rated it with 4 stars and then forget about it.  I watched it again Saturday night. Now I give it 5 stars.  Yes, there are naked girls, but I swear, I found them no more prurient than walking through an art galley where nudes are displayed. I'd watch it during Lent.  This is a just a technically sound, subtly hilarious, and well executed film. All of you except for some will agree with me. You're welcome.

VIVINT SOLAR ENERGY

PREVIOUSLY
"... anyone know anything about VIVINT.SOLAR?"

: The deal with Vivant is, in our case, is they will sell us energy collected from "their panels" for 10.5 cents per kwh. Pur current cost is around 36 cents. If we use less than what is generated, the excess is sold back to BG&E and credited to us. There are ZERO costs involved for the installation; there are no battery devices involved. This all sounds pretty sweet. However, even while the sales guy was pitching us I Googled them. While there were just a few entries on the consumer page, all were negative. Yesterday the surveyor was here a 8AM and did a full roof sun collection survey on our roof and told us when he was finished that he's sure we will qualify and get panels. On the upside is the promise of reducing energy costs, and but also the positive effect it ought have when we sell. I sent the contract to our son who now living in Utah (Vivant's home). While going through the packet I noticed that the salesman did not leave his workup sheets. I feel uneasy which is why these queries.  - April 28th

Had many requests for updates on Vivint's offer of free solar panels .  Here's a brief summary of how this made sense for us after some due diligence.

The People's State of MD (some other states are also on board with this) are fining BGE about one million dollars a day until they show proper progress toward promoting renewable energy.  That right there is the incentive.  BGE not only pay agents like Solar City, Vivint, et. al., to find good candidates (lots of sun), they supply the panels.  They allow the agent (Vivint) to sell generated electricity to the homeowner at, in our case, 10.5¢ kWh (we currently pay about 35¢).  In effect then, Vivint is renting our roof for 20 years.  Vivint will also collect all federal and state rebates.  There are no batteries; nothing is saved locally.

Our initial concerns were an abundance of bad Googled reviews from people who'd dealt with Vivint.  Most were about not getting response back about what was going on; probably people who failed the test (a guy comes out and surveys your sun footprint), and the sales person was not considerate enough to tell them.  One claimed that after a few months they were actually paying more for electricity than before.  That's only possible if the owner started using considerably more power, like buying room air conditioners for every room when they had none before.  Another claimed the installer damaged his roof.

Vivint is a Utah company with a good history, but  new to the solar game. Fortunately we have a son who's a big shot corporate lawyer, and who just bought a home in Utah.  Sent him the contract to check it out.  They passed muster. We said okay.

We were scheduled to have our install on June 30, but our salesman called Friday and said they had a crew available to install this Saturday.  Since you can opt out of the deal up to the point where they're climbing the ladder, I'm guessing someone did just that.  We said OK.  They showed up around noon, and less than three hours later had installed 34 panels—worth $44,000 according to the state permit— and were gone.  Now we await BGE's installation of the collection meter.

FWIW, the installer said his mom had the panels installed.  Her first month's bill was 6¢.  We'll see.  The pitch of our roof is such that we can't see the panels unless we go across the street, which is the view you see.

HARK! Nihilism

Drinks on the house!

This blogging thing.  I'll guess that most everyone who participates in "social media" is prone to a conceit that what they say can actually matter.  Change things.  But, we've reached a point, IMO,  where truth is an ethereal concept open to individual interpretaion.  So we're fucked.  I forget that sometimes, and get terribly frustrated even though I know better.  My "About" page states, simply:

"This blog is really like a neighborhood bar.  That explains everything.  Sooner or later you'll be happy,  pissed off, laughing, and then disappointed. Drinks are not free. Neither is the Prozac. Also, all professional democrats are liars. "

Okay then.

A young blonde woman is distraught because she fears her husband is having an affair, so she goes to a gun shop and buys a handgun. The next day she comes home to find her husband in bed with a beautiful redhead. She grabs the gun and holds it to her own head. The husband jumps out of bed, begging and pleading with her not to shoot herself. Hysterically the blonde responds to the husband, ''Shut up...you're next!''

Provoking Racial Unrest

ACORN’s successor group in Missouri has been paying protesters $5,000 a month to generate civil unrest in Ferguson ....

MORE is the rebranded Missouri branch of the former Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) which filed for bankruptcy in late 2010. That ACORN state chapter reconstituted itself in December 2009 as MORE under orders from ACORN’s national headquarters. President Obama used to work for ACORN and he represented it in court as a lawyer. (See my previous article on MORE.)

MORE has been active in the Ferguson protests and in efforts to free jailed demonstrators so they can continue vandalizing businesses, intimidating perceived adversaries, setting fires, throwing projectiles and human waste at cops, and engaging in the Left’s usual modes of so-called nonviolent protest. MORE believes that protesters should be given a blank check to inflict whatever harm they wish on the community in pursuit of social justice.

The unpaid rent-a-mob operatives complain that MORE stiffed them the same way ACORN did to hired protesters throughout its 40 years of radical left-wing rabble-rousing. The ACORN network’s leadership was always predominantly white while its foot soldiers were mostly non-white, a fact that caused tension within the criminal community organizing outfit.
