Those are the only words to describe the Obama Administration’s policy of targeting those who they view as political enemies. The latest shoe to drop involves the Justice Department. Documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) reveal that the DOJ engaged in a coordinated effort with the far-left Soros goon squad, Media Matters, to target then-Daily Caller reporter Matt Boyle. What was Boyle’s sin? He was pursuing a story on whether elected officials were inclined to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt for stonewalling Congress on the “investigation” into the Obama Administration’s botched Operation Fast and Furious sale of guns to Mexican drug cartels.  In a boomerang that only the most naïve could not have anticipated, criminals then misused those guns to murder U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. Imagine that, a reporter in Washington, D.C. actually working a story and contacting congressional offices to determine their reaction to it? Apparently to Holder and his Soros-minded cronies at Media Matters this type of activity could not be tolerated. Sound familiar? [It should ....] To put this in perspective, let's examine stuff that used to threaten the political careers of presidents and vice presidents. Bobby Baker was a wheeler-dealer friend if LBJ, and appointed to Senate Secretary to the Majority Leader.  In September 1963, an investigation was begun by the Republican-led Senate Rules Committee into Baker's business and political activities. Baker was investigated for allegations of bribery using money allocated by congress and arranging sexual favors, in exchange for votes and government contracts. Criticized increasingly, Baker resigned as Secretary of the Senate on October 7, 1963.  Although Lyndon Johnson was not involved in Baker's business dealings after 1960, the Senate investigation looked into their questionable financial activities in the 1950s. This was such a problem for Johnson that there were rumors he would be dropped from the 1964 presidential ticket.[11] After word of the assassination of John F. Kennedy reached Washington on November 22, 1963, the Senate investigation was delayed. “ SNAILGATE: THE SLIME TRAIL LEFT BY THE ROYAL SOCIETY'S VANISHING CREDIBILITY The story of the "extinct" giant snail - supposedly killed by global warming, but recently found alive and well on the same Indian Ocean atoll it has inhabited for the last 80,000 years - is developing into a major environmental scandal. A scandal that obviously deserves the title Snailgate. As we reported ten days ago under the heading Extinct Giant Snail Killed By Climate Change Crawls Back From The Dead, the sorry tale began in 2007 with the publication in one of the Royal Society's journals Biology Letters of a "peer-reviewed" study by Justin Gerlach. Gerlach's study claimed that the Aldabra Banded Snail (Rhachistia aldabrae) had gone extinct in the late 1990s due to climate change. However, this was immediately disputed by four experts in the field, led by Oxford University ecologist Clive Hambler who argued that there simply wasn't enough evidence to justify to claim, and urged Biology Letters to print their prepared rebuttal. It said: "The vast majority of the habitat is virtually inaccessible and has never been visited. It is unwise to declare this species extinct after a gap in known records of ten years. We predict ‘rediscovery’ when resources permit.” Had Biology Letters published this, it would have spared itself the embarrassment of being proved wrong this year when the snail was indeed rediscovered, alive and well, on its island home. Instead, Biology Letters refused to publish the rebuttal on the grounds that it had failed to pass "peer-review." Thanks to new research by Times environment correspondent Ben Webster, we now have an inkling as to how this may have happened. The two "peer-reviewers" who accepted the erroneous J Gerlach paper were the same two referees who rejected the subsequent rebuttal paper. Though their reasons for doing so are unclear, one evident possibility is that they did not wish to make themselves look foolish by accepting a paper explicitly rejecting the one they had so recently approved. None of this would have come to light if the snail had stayed conveniently "extinct." Unfortunately for the Royal Society, Biology Letters, J Gerlach and those two "peer-reviewers", the resurrection snail has come back to haunt them by raising some very awkward questions. Like: .... Bob McDonnell and his wife were convicted Thursday of using his office to promote a dietary supplement in exchange for gifts in a public corruption case that derailed the career of a onetime rising Republican star. Texas Republican Gov. Rick Perry was indicted Friday for allegedly abusing his veto power during a dispute with a public corruption prosecutor over her drunken driving arrest -- in a case that could mar the potential 2016 presidential candidate’s political prospects. I'm just sayin'.  These have all the markings of 2005 when Howard Dean asserted that "Republicans have made their culture of corruption the norm."  Nancy Pelosi grabbed it and used it (absurdly, given the long list of Democrats whose indictments were somehow sent instead to the House ethics committee hearings) to wrest the House from the Republicans, making her Speaker.  The list of slain Republicans included ... Tom DeLay, as raw a political attack as has ever occurred.  DeLay was ultimately cleared of any wrong doing, but was forced out of his House Whip position just the same. Duke Cunningham (who manned-up to taking Jack Abramoff $$, and took his punishment, while Sen. Harry Reid, who was up to his neck in Abramoff  kickback cash went unscathed.  Rep Curt Weldon's office was raided on election day eve, to big headlines.  Supposedly to find evidence of his daughters wrong-doing??- He narrowly lost to the Democrat. Mark Foley was charged with "allegations of sending teenage boys explicit sexually solicit e-mails and instant messages."  All charges were later dropped because of lack of evidence. Rep Sue Kelly lost because she was somehow tied to Mark Foley ... Huh? U.S. Congressman Don Sherwood - Lost after an extra martial affair was made public. It's probably unfair to say that Democrats have an advantage because, for the most part, their constituencies are Lo-Fos who are themselves inured to infidelities and petty crime.  So I won't say it.  Democrats (and that incudes major media) are in full panic, so expect anything from that lot.  Won't matter if it's true, just that it muddies the election water. ”

Making Do

You know how when MoSup goes off on her class reunion, and I immediately, despite my most determined other-wising, revert to bachelorhoodity?  And when she calls and says she's reached Tappahannock on her way home, and I spring into a frenzy of cleaning, washing and picking up?  Well, she hasn't called from Tappahannock yet, but she will soon, and, holy mother of God, I bent over to tie my boots this morning and snap!  I threw my back out in a major way.  Srsly, while I am sitting in my computer chair right now, even moving to engage the Caps Lock key sends a jolt through me.  Most people in this state would be screaming out an open window, "Help, I've fallen and can't get up," but I am a warrior and will not!.  Instead, I will spend this time setting the scene so that when she does get home, I will receive her approbation for suffering through instead of her  going into a sullen silence while she bangs loudly about in the kitchen, clanging dishes (and my good knives) and thrown into the dishwasher; and then storming into the den picking up strewn socks and underpants;  and without asking "can I run the vacuum cleaner?,"  fires up the old Hoover that sounds like a jet engine and, one which pitch causes me excruciating pain, which she knows is an audio form of water boarding for me.  You know how that is? But no.  When she arrives home, she will find me laying on the floor, with a six day growth of beard, a broom in my hand and dust pan not far away.  A scene not unlike the Marine who covered for his platoon and was later found with a .45  clutched in his hand, empty, with 8 Japanese troops, dead – three of them with bullet-holes in the middle of their forehead.  And I will have peach pie served to me, and a back rub. I am not making this up.
