Can you see the sunny day outside?
No, because the sun isn't up yet.
What is Grampy doing up then?
Somebody who doesn't drink red whiskey wanted to eat breakfast.
It's sunny inside now.

Spillage

Boned Jello

With all the news about spillage lately, I thought this appropriate.  I put it here so you'd have workspace.  It took Blogdog less than a day to finish the last one, and there were some tragedies too.  Tim W lost power after 6 days of toil.  Ouch.

Gizmodo doesn't explain the why of Best Buy's visceral response over this video.  I'm left to believe it's because of their vested interest in selling the iPhone.  It does go to the heart of Apple cultists however. Clap Calp Clap

Public sector unions

J'accuse!
The Governor wants to cap annual property tax increases at 2.5%, on the model of the successful cap that Massachusetts imposed in 1980. Over the next 27 years, property taxes in the Bay State rose 22% compared to 68% nationwide and 102% in New Jersey.

The cap is crucial to preventing local Garden State school districts, which are dominated by teachers unions, from raising taxes and thus defeating whatever spending restraint Mr. Christie can impose on Trenton. The unions know this, which is why they've spent some $7 million in TV ads portraying Mr. Christie as the scourge of police, firefighters and children.

Boned Jello

I think it's important to know the identities, so as to dishonor their memory in perpetuity, of America's  rat bastard politicians.   Reading  Chris Christie fights for a cap on property taxes caused me to wonder which RB to blame for allowing public sector workers to unionize in the first instance?  I mean, the idea of allowing inmates to run the asylum is so manifestly an insane circular error,  how did it happen?  Believe me, it's not easy to find the answer, but  Doug Ross knows.

We can thank a  mayor from NYC, Robert Wagner, for promulgating the initial outrage, and John F. Kennedy for taking his pass over the national goal line.  Come to think about it, aside from being the first good looking American president, this seems to be JFK's single, aside from being assassinated,  legacy.   And a very bad one.  To the pitchforks then!

In “Summer camp caters to kids of atheists, agnostics,” Meredith Heagney touted Camp Quest as being just like any other summer camp, but she admitted that, while there is an “emphasis on open-mindedness, poking fun at faith isn’t forbidden.”

One teenage camper stated that they “do talk sometimes about how silly … [other] religions are and what they to do.”

Health law risks turning away sick
By Julian Pecquet - 07/01/10 07:13 PM ET

The Obama administration has not ruled out turning sick people away from an insurance program created by the new healthcare law to provide coverage for the uninsured.

Mental Illness: Obama's family
tree is replete with the unbalanced.

Almost immediately after posting on  A Shrink Asks:What's Wrong with Obama? yesterday, and recognizing that relatively few people move on to read full articles, I regretted not including this excerpt. Now I have.
--Mental Illness: Obama's family tree is replete with the unbalanced. His maternal great-grandmother committed suicide. His grandfather, Stanley Dunham, was particularly unhinged: He was expelled from high school for punching his principal; named his daughter Stanley because he wanted a boy; and exposed young Barry to not just drunken trash talk, but unrestricted visits with alleged pedophile Frank Marshall Davis (who might or might not be Obama's biological father). Barack Sr. was an abusive, alcoholic bigamist.

Since mental illness runs in the family, does Obama have any signs? Yes and no. No, he is not a schizophrenic babbling about Martians. But there are red flags for some other conditions.

Mayor Daley lays out strict
speech rules for Chicago

CHICAGO (AP) — Annoyed by recent court rulings that expanded First Amendment rights, Mayor Richard Daley on Thursday introduced what city officials say is the strictest Speech ordinance in the United States.

The measure, which draws from ordinances around the country, would strictly limit political speech in Chicago, even prohibiting home owners from stepping outside their homes, even onto their porches or garages, with an unauthorized sign.
What? I'm sorry, that should read "Second Amendment"  rights.  Silly me.  All Bill of Rights amendments look the same to me.

Edward "Ted" Kennedy

A Kennedy who actually deserved being shot

The recent laughable results (see post below) from academics attempting to select the best presidents ever, and my own experience with many of them, forced me to this conclusion. They can no longer be trusted to do surveys, or make pronouncements, and are certainly unqualified to select the "Most Vile American Ever'"  I'm not talking about things like putting gerbils up your ass.  I'm talking people whose actions damaged the foundation of this great nation.  As this blog's leading historian, I've been honored by my peers who asked me to make that selection.  In doing so, I draw from nearly 100 years, give or take, of collected  readings, watchings, and most importantly today, feelings, to announce the "winner," and four runners-up.  Without further ado then -
  1. George Mc Govern
  1. FDR tied with Roger Baldwin
  1. William Jefferson Clinton
  1. Barry Marshall Obama Soetoro
....  and the number one "Most Vile American Ever.".

Snipettes from Amy Miller's  I Will Stand Behind Jan Brewer
...  I think Governor Brewer’s obvious anger is a good thing, because it finally shows–if I may be so bold–that Jan Brewer is OVER IT. She’s done the dance, sung the songs, met with the bureaucrats, and what has it gotten her? A pretty lawsuit, and a battalion of Obama’s flying monkeys bearing a friggin’ POWERPOINT presentation.

The situation is so devolved it’s almost comical. On one hand we’ve got the President of the United States throwing together a slideshow basically telling a fellow executive officer to go jump off a bridge; on the other, we’ve got idiot politicians rolling over for the minority vote, and US cities feeling completely comfortable with giving the finger to federal immigration laws ....

...  right now, Obama is daring Jan Brewer to defy his Administration.  ...

Standing behind Jan Brewer means standing up in the court of public opinion. It means not keeping your mouth shut when you hear people talking about that disgusting bunch of racist pigs down in Arizona. It might mean losing friends; I personally have lost two over this whole mess, but I’m okay with it if it means that by doing so, I regained little bit of control over the debate.

Obama trumps Reagan, academics say in survey

The 2010  survey included Mr. Obama  and gave him a surprisingly strong showing - in the top third of the pack and ahead of the 18th-ranked Reagan. And Mr. Obama wasn't even tops among living Democrats - that honor went to 13th-ranked Bill Clinton, one of only two presidents ever to be impeached.

Sea Change

Inquiring mind ...

Boned Jello

I've asked this before as an aside, or a comment,  but I really do want to know.  In the event that, say, the entire left coast fell into the sea, would California, Oregon and Washington's congressional delegation be unseated?  When?    Who decides?  I think this needs to be settled anon! I've been praying real hard, and there's a " tingling."

A Shrink Asks:
What's Wrong with Obama?

Cuzzin Ricky brought this, what I missed, to my attention.  First thing I saw was this apparent lede --  The 9mm won't save your ass Obama!  It's actually an oddly placed advertisement for combat arms training, but it made me wet.

Robin of Berkeley, a shrink from  ... you know,  begins ... "Obama's odd mannerisms intrigue a psychotherapist like me. He also presents a serious diagnostic challenge. "   Actually this is a good read even if it was about a nobody.  Here's a few snippets about Mr. Nutjob.
Boned Jello
For one, Obama's teleprompter and the men behind the Blackberry keep him well-scripted. We know so little about the facts of his life.

But it's more than just a lack of information. Obama himself is a strange bird. He doesn't fit easily into any diagnostic category.

Many people attribute Obama's oddness to his narcissism. True, Obama has a gargantuan ego, and he is notoriously thin-skinned.

Yet a personality disorder like narcissism does not explain Obama's strangeness: his giggling while being asked about the economy; his continuing a shout-out rather than announcing the Ft. Hood shootings; or his vacations, golfing, partying and fundraising during the calamitous oil spill.

Take also Obama's declaring on the "Today Show" that he wants to know whose ass to kick. Consummate narcissists would never stoop to this vulgar display of adolescent machismo.

Obama is flat when passion is needed; he's aggressive when savvy is required. What's most worrisome is that Obama doesn't even realize that his behavior is inappropriate.

So if it's not just simple narcissism, what is wrong with Obama? Since I've never evaluated him, I can't say for sure. But I can hazard some educated guesses.

If I saw a client as disconnected as him, the first thing I would wonder: Is something wrong with his brain? And I'd consider the following theoretical diagnostic possibilities.

--Physical problems: There are a multitude of physiological conditions that can cause people to act strangely. For instance ... continue
What the hell is it with Democrats? Bill Clinton almost certainly a sociopath, Algore completely unhinged since voters dissed him in 2000; John Kerry afflicted with pathologies that break new ground, Obama a  ... . .  I just read  Congressional Democrats think Americans want what they’re selling, by Gary Andres.  More of the same.  These people are so sure that they're right to the point of insanity.  Like I said, rabid dogs, all.
