Hey,ACC. Blow Us

ACC countdown

I'm getting up for what may be the Terps last ever game in the ACC.  They play FSU at noon in the Carolina Jamboree, a.k.a. "ACC toonamit."  In the meanwhile, some light heartred crap is all I can muster. Hopefully one will add a little sunshine in your otherwise "I'm too knowledeable to be happy" life.  Lousy refs.

The GOP underperformed tonight in the - a district they've held for decades. Here's why:

“

Republican David Jolly was victorious over Democrat Alex Sink 48.5 percent to 46.7 percent, with Libertarian Lucas Overby collecting 4.8 percent of the vote.

It was the first major test of the Obamacare effect on an election, with both sides spending millions of dollars rehearsing national campaign strategies.

Wasserman Schultz, whose Twitter handle is @DWStweets, sent out a brief tweet, stating: “The GOP underperformed tonight in the #FL13 – a district they’ve held for decades.”

It provided a link to a longer comment, in which she noted:

“Republican special interest groups poured in millions to hold onto a Republican congressional district that they’ve comfortably held for nearly 60 years. Tonight, Republicans fell short of their normal margin in this district because the agenda they are offering voters has a singular focus – that a majority of voters oppose – repealing the Affordable Care Act that would return us to the same old broken health care system.

Ahem-FAIL
... the evenly divided district (a district Barack Obama carried in both 2008 and 2012) had been considered a toss-up.

“ Clinton recorded a phone call last week seeking local volunteers to help with Sink's campaign, and a half dozen House Democrats emailed fundraising appeals to their own supporters on her behalf.

“  Sink outspent Jolly by more than 3 to 1 on television advertising, though outside groups aligned with the GOP helped narrow the overall Democratic advantage. -myway.com/

How Criminally Stupid Are They?

Summing Up, Then

Black Obesity Cause? Racism

“
GAH!

Once upon a time, Americans believed that G-d was the First Cause of the universe. Then along came the left and Racism became the new First Cause of the universe.

In the Unified Field Theory of Racism, everything was caused by racism.

If America went to war, it was because it was racist. If it didn’t go to war, it was because it was racist. Even Global Warming was ultimately caused by the racist disregard of Americans for the Third World.

The study only measures perceptions of racism, not actual racism, but again that’s a distinction that long ago went out the window in research studies. And that assumes these numbers are even valid. There’s no reason to believe that they are.
And obesity? Obviously racism.

Frequent experiences of racism are associated with a higher risk of obesity among African American women, a new study claims.

Scientists found that women who were more frequently victimized for their race, were more likely to be obese.

The Black Women’s Health Study collected information on experiences of racism, height and weight and other lifestyle factors via biennial questionnaires.

The participants were asked in 1997 and in 2009 to rate the frequency of ‘everyday’ experiences of racism, such as receiving poorer service in restaurants and if they had been treated unfairly because of their race in their job, in housing or by the police.

Women who reported more lifetime racism were also at increased risk of obesity, according to the study, which was published in the American Journal of Epidemiology.

There was a time when researchers knew the difference between correlation and causation. That long ago went out the window. Correlation is treated as causation. If two things overlap, then one must cause the other. And since obesity can’t cause racism, racism must cause obesity. [Full Fatness]

TECHNO THRILLS

thorium
“

If your car was powered by thorium, you would never need to refuel it. The vehicle would burn out long before the chemical did. The thorium would last so long, in fact, it would probably outlive you.

That’s why a company called Laser Power Systems has created a concept for a thorium-powered car engine. The element is radioactive, and the team uses bits of it to build a laserbeam that heats water, produces steam, and powers an energy-producing turbine.

Thorium is one of the most dense materials on the planet. A small sample of it packs 20 million times more energy than a similarly-sized sample of coal, making it an ideal energy source.

The thing is, Dr. Charles Stevens, the CEO of Laser Power Systems, told Mashable that thorium engines won’t be in cars anytime soon.

“Cars are not our primary interest,” Stevens said. ”The automakers don’t want to buy them.”

He said too much of the automobile industry is focused on making money off of gas engines, and it will take at least a couple decades for thorium technology to be used enough in other industries that vehicle manufacturers will begin to consider revamping the way they think about engines.

“We’re building this to power the rest of the world,” Stevens said. He believes a thorium turbine about the size of an air conditioning unit could more provide cheap power for whole restaurants, hotels, office buildings, even small towns in areas of the world without electricity. At some point, thorium could power individual homes.

Stevens understands that people may be wary of Thorium because it is radioactive — but any such worry would be unfounded.

“The radiation that we develop off of one of these things can be shielded by a single sheet off of aluminum foil,” Stevens said.” ”You will get more radiation from one of those dental X-rays than this.”

Back in the day I was one of a billion kids who built this model of the yet to be launched nuclear submarine Nautilus. Memory says it was a Revell kit, but evidently not.  I also have a vague remembrance of a controversy over how the model maker was able to get the very accurate exterior plans of this top secret boat, but can't find any supporting documents.  But that's not what  I'm writing about.

The peaceful use of atomic power was a very big deal  in the 1950s.   One of the more promising predictions was that  nuclear powered electricity would become a virtually free commodity.  Woot-Woo! People believed it.  Were we naive back then, or what?

Think of the geopolitical consequences if, today, you discovered that adding a cup of sand,  ½ oz. of urine, and some eye of newt to a thousand gallons of seawater would produce1000 gallons 98 Octane gasoline. If you were foolish enough to demonstrate the finished product—without divulging the formula—I suspect you'd be lucky to make it to the weekend before succumbing to a sudden heart attack, or freak boating accident.

So, even if a  thorium-powered car engine proved to be safe and doable, guess what?  Won't happen. For one thing, the Arab's power and influence would revert back to the 18th century model.  The world economy would convulse.  So, if you ever find some successful alchemy that replaces a need for oil, release the formula before the Feds can find a way to tax it (no way,  that) stop it.

Gangster Government

Clinton Culture

“

 Paul  Harvey

  Conveniently Forgotten Facts.

Back in 1969 a group  of Black Panthers decided that a  fellow black panther named   Alex Rackley  needed to die.  Rackley was suspected of disloyalty.  Rackley was first tied to a   chair.  Once safely immobilized, his friends tortured  him for hours by, among other   things, pouring boiling water on him.

When they got tired  of torturing Rackley, Black Panther member, Warren Kimbro took   Rackley outside  and put a bullet in his head.  Rackley's body was later found floating in a river about 25 miles north of New Haven, Connecticut .

Perhaps at  this point you're curious as to what happened to these Black Panthers?

In 1977, that's only  eight years  later, only one of the killers was still in jail.

The shooter, Warren Kimbro, managed to get a scholarship to Harvard and became  good  friends with none other than Al Gore.  He later became
an  assistant  dean at an Eastern Connecticut State College.

  Isn't that  something!!!

As a '60s radical  you can pump a bullet into someone's head and, a few years later,   in the same  state, you can become an assistant college dean!

  Only in America !!!

Erica Huggins was  the woman who served the Panthers by boiling the water for Mr.   Rackley's torture  .. Some years  later Ms. Huggins was elected to a California School Board.

How in the world do you think these killers got off so easily?

Maybe it was in some  part due to the efforts of two people who came to the defense of  the Panthers.

These two people  actually went so far as to shut down Yale University with   demonstrations in  defense of the accused Black Panthers during their trial.

One of  these people was none other than Bill Lan Lee.   Mr. Lee, or Mr. Lan  Lee, as the case may be, isn't a college dean.  He isn't a member of  a California School Board. He is now head of the United  States  Justice Department's Civil Rights Division, appointed by none other than Bill Clinton.

O.K., so  who was the other Panther defender?  Is this  other notable Panther  defender now a school board member?  Is this other Panther apologist  now an assistant college dean?

  No, neither!

The other Panther  defender was, like Lee, a radical law student at Yale University at the time.  She is now known as The "smartest woman in the world."  She is  none other than the former Secretary of State and former Democratic senator from  the State of New York ---- the former First Lady, the incredible Hillary Rodham Clinton .

And now, as Paul  Harvey said; "You know the rest of the story".

  Pass this  on!

This deserves the  widest possible press.

Also remember it when she runs for President!

Mark S. Gilstrap

Member of the Kansas Senate

1997-2008

Mark, thanks for sending this! People need to be reminded of this. They also need to be reminded that (as I've pointed out many times), Queen Hillary was (and is) every bit as much a dedicated disciple of Saul Alinsky (author of "Rules for Radicals", a manual for the destruction of the U.S.A.) as was (and is) Barack Obama.

I consider myself something of an expert on all things Hillary Robbem, but had never heard this one before. You can check out the Snopes treatment, for what it's worth.  Snopes of course has long since burned all credibility on anything Democrat; they are liars and totally in the bag.   Bottom line for me; both the radical Lan Lee and Hillary were at Yale during that time so, since the story is consistent with  actions I know the two of them engaged in, I can't quibble withMark S. Gilstrap's  account on the Panthers.

FONT MAGIC

La la la la la .....

I'm a font junky, always on the lookout for new stuff.  For a long time I've wished there was a way to identify a font used by a site I wanted to parody, rather than scroll through my thousand font collection looking for a close match.  WHAT THE FONT, seemingly, was the answer; and after a fashion it prolly is.  To test it,  I submitted the font pic from the Sharyl Attkisson Resigns post.

It found 27 matches, none of which was the correct Jokerman, but several that were damned close.  For snickers, I searched their site for Jokerman, and sure enough they had it.  It's a very distinctive font, so I'm surprised their software didn't nail it. Good enough for government work though.

NEXT: 1001 FONTS

1001 FONTS is a delicious asset.  If I'm looking to create a Commie looking document, I select "Russian."  That causes their full list of Russian fonts to cascade.  I can then type the text I'm after, and screen cap the one I want.

You're welcome

Sharyl Attkisson Martyred for the Truth

Democrat Media Monkeys

Citing Liberal Bias, Investigative Reporter
Sharyl Attkisson Resigns From CBS News
“While some at CBS championed her relentless dedication to investigations — ranging from defective Firestone tires to the Fast and Furious gun-walking scandal — others saw evidence of a political agenda, particularly against President Barack Obama [...] led network executives to doubt the impartiality of her reporting”

CBS News investigative correspondent Sharyl Attkisson has reached an agreement to resign from CBS News ahead of contract, bringing an end to months of hard-fought negotiations, sources familiar with her departure told POLITICO on Monday.

Attkisson, who has been with CBS News for two decades, had grown frustrated with what she saw as the network’s liberal bias, an outsize influence by the network’s corporate partners and a lack of dedication to investigative reporting, several sources said. She increasingly felt that her work was no longer supported and that it was a struggle to get her reporting on air.

At the same time, Attkisson’s reporting on the Obama administration, which some staffers characterized as agenda-driven, had led network executives to doubt the impartiality of her reporting. She is currently at work on a book — tentatively titled “Stonewalled: One Reporter’s Fight for Truth in Obama’s Washington” — that addresses the challenges of reporting critically on the administration.

Like many of you, I automatically read any CBS reporter's musings with a jaundiced eye.  In fact, I have often wondered in print about the possibility that Edward R. Murrow was a Soviet mole who hired fellow travelers (like Wally Cronkite) to build a great disinfo media outlet for his masters.  So it is that I was always surprised when a Drudge linked Obamunist exposé led me to CBS News,  and a report by Sharyl Attkisson.  After a fashion I was less inclined to lump all things CBS with Obamunist agitprop.  That's over.

The Town Hall article ends,"
This is an incredible loss for CBS and no doubt another network's gain. Hopefully she'll land at a place where her important work will be aired and promoted."  There is then only one option, isn't there?

Blah-blah
By the By, I wonder if the Drive-by 'tooninsts will react the same way they did after Dan Rather was fired (after  CBS brass ran out of ways to excuse him?
