Millionaire businessman Ehsan Abdulaziz, 46, was charged with raping an 18-year old woman at his London flat.

The Saudi property developer said he had already had sex with the young woman’s 24-year-old friend and it was possible his penis may have been poking out of his underwear when he tripped and fell on her. .

The jury acquitted Abdulaziz after just 30 minutes of deliberations. [story]

If you're wondering about my chronic absences; it's because I am consumed with getting my book finished in time for Christmas, and tending to other art projects.

"If you want to see what will happen in countries when the Muslims' numbers increase, listen to a video by Brigitte Gabriel doing an interview at Duke University.   She explains how Lebanon was a free, democratic country not too long ago and how they let anyone come to live there including Muslims.  It wasn't too long before road blocks and check points were set up.  If you weren't Muslim, often you were shot to death right then and there on the road.  Plus you will not believe some of the other evil stuff the Islamists did.  It is an amazing video"  (Commenting on the above video)

Insight: “[P]rudent minds have as a natural gift one safeguard which is the common possession of all, and this applies especially to the dealings of democracies. What is this safeguard? Skepticism. This you must preserve. This you must retain.” —Demosthenes (384-322 BC)

Most government jobs = permanent jobs: “I’ve never encountered an organization where leadership was measured by how many people you fired. You can’t fire your way to excellence.” —VA Deputy Secretary Sloan Gibson

So it’s all just for show? “The fact is that even if every single American citizen biked to work, carpooled to school, used only solar panels to power their homes, if we each planted a dozen trees, if we somehow eliminated all of our domestic greenhouse gas emissions, guess what — that still wouldn’t be enough to offset the carbon pollution coming from the rest of the world.” —John Kerry at the Paris climate summit

“The planet will be ok, there just won’t be any damn people on it.” —Han Solo Harrison Ford’s alarming prediction about man-made global warming (Of course, without warming, he’d still be frozen in carbonite…)

Dezinformatsia: “[Democrats] have to speak up and just tell the American people we can’t get anything done on gun violence because Republicans are in the way. Put it on the obstructors. Put it on the people who always defend a piece of paper that was 225 old or whatever, back in a society that doesn’t even exist today. … Then maybe you might strike a nerve with the American people to get rid of some of these jackasses who live by an old document that is just totally outdated.” —Ed Schultz

What could go wrong? “Ban guns. All guns. Get rid of guns in homes, and on the streets, and, as much as possible, on police. … Ban guns! Not just gun violence. Not just certain guns. Not just already-technically-illegal guns. All of them.” —New Republic’s Phoebe Maltz Bovy

Non Compos Mentis: “What I’m observing is that it’s tragic that in the immediate aftermath of a series of high-profile mass shootings people feel like they have to go out and purchase a gun. … [I]t’s tragic and ironic.” —Josh Earnest (What’s tragic is how the Left stands on the coffins of innocent people to politicize shootings.)

And last… “To think there is a right to bear arms because of the 2nd Amendment is to mix up cause and effect.” —Frank Fleming

FYI- I've been subscribed to Patriot Post for..., like forever.  Delivered daily,  I rarely give it a look amongst the flotsam and jetsam, but whenever I do, as I did this morning, it's ALWAYS spot-on and interesting.  I will invite all of them to my next barbecue.

RIVER and DETECTORISTS

cinema à la carte

RIVER

The original drama series centers on John River (SkarsgÃ¥rd), a brilliant police officer whose genius and fault line is the fragility of his mind — a man haunted by the murder victims whose cases he must lay to rest. Nicola Walker (Last Tango In Halifax and "Ruth on SPOOKS) will play River’s colleague and confidante, Detective Sgt. Jackie “Stevie” Stevenson, with Adeel Akhtar (Utopia) as Detective Sgt. Ira King. Lesley Manville (An Adventure In Space And Time) will play their superior, Chief Inspector Chrissie Read. Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan) plays a notorious killer who haunts River. Additional cast includes Sorcha Cusack (Father Brown) as Stevie’s mother, Bridie, and Georgina Rich (Sherlock) plays Rosa, a police psychiatrist.

River was commissioned by BBC One Controller Charlotte Moore and Ben Stephenson, Controller of BBC Drama Commissioning. Jane Featherstone, Manda Levin, Abi Morgan and Lucy Richer are executive producers. Chris Carey (Run, Ambassador, Dirk Gently) produces, and Richard Laxton (Burton And Taylor, Him And Her) directs.

Note: If you watch this series you will almost certainly wonder what the hell is the name of that song Nicol Walker sings.  Here it is (I Love To Love).

In a nutshell, River's partener is murdered and in death still hangs around.  "I see dead people" for adults. Brilliant.

Here's another jewel I tripped over; "Detectorists"

“ Not a great deal happens in Detectorists, which began its second series tonight. For those who've not managed to catch this novel sitcom you need to know the following. First, well, not much happens. Very much like the lives of the metal "detectorists" (never "detectors" – those are merely the machines they use, you see), things meander along at a pace which makes Last of the Summer Wine feel like Spectre.

It has a slight Vicar of Dibley feel to it too, but it is much more intriguing and edgy than any of its gentle comedy predecessors. Which brings me to my second point – it is very nicely written and directed by Mackenzie Crook, who also plays one of the major roles, the semi-happily married Andy, and, no, I can't resist adding that he has come a long way since he played the gawky, immature and bizarre-looking Gareth Keenan in The Office. Crook is joined in his quest by his older and lonelier mate Lance, as portrayed by the brilliant Toby Jones (whose resemblance to Ian Hislop, by the way, is unnerving). Andy's mother-in-law is Diana Rigg, who does a fine line in withering contempt. ”

Media Irrelevance

"Most of those who were persuadable have been persuaded. "
In the early days of blogging there was a blog called Oh, that liberal media, which regularly exposed instances of liberal media bias. In fact in the early days of blogging that was one of the top achievements of the blogosphere, to point out the easy political bias most supposedly objective news sources engaged in. I used to think that the blogosphere would serve as a necessary corrective to the media, but that hasn’t happened.

In recent years, I don’t think that the criticism has had the same effect, even if in some ways the media cocoon has worsened. I think that conservative media critics have convinced all those who can be convinced of the bias and now either people accept the bias because they agree with it or look to alternative news sources because they don’t trust the MSM. And the MSM started paying less attention to the criticism. Most of those who were persuadable have been persuaded. (As far as those who deny that such bias exist … it’s hard to deny when prominent journalists have boasted of the bias.)

But I still believe that it’s possible for the media to jump the shark. At some point the media will show that they are so hopelessly out of touch with most voters, that even non-ideological types would cease to believe them.

Glenn Reynolds’ op-ed Monday in USA Today makes me wonder if the media may have just reached that point with the front page New York Times editorial over the weekend calling  for confiscation of all guns in the wake of last week’s San Bernardino terror attack.

In his op-ed Reynolds (Instapundit) wrote that there’s a very good reason that President Obama and his supporters may want  to focus on something other than the Middle East, the economy or personal safety: [Continued]

This Legal Insurrection phrase "have convinced all those who can be convinced" was a splash of cold water.  I've railed about the lack of critical thinking goin' on out there, and this is the result in just a few words.  'Argh matey, we be farkt.  It's stage 4 doctrinairism.

Skip Church or .... else?

Santa Claus has a message for Americans: "Go ahead and skip church and simply be good for goodness' sake."

Atheist Santa, that is.

The American Atheists announced Monday that it was posting billboards in the Raleigh, N.C. and Colorado Springs, Co. with the anti-church message.

"Last year's billboard showed a child writing a letter to Santa, telling him that all she wanted for Christmas was to skip church. This year, Santa wrote back," said David Silverman president of American Atheists.

"It is important for these folks who are on the fence about their beliefs to know that they can take that first big step and leave church," said Nick Fish, national program director of American Atheists. "There are tens of millions of atheists in this country. We're everywhere. And we don't need church or gods to tell us how to be good people."

I, for one, and believe I'm in the majority here, don't give a rat's ass about what faith people do or do not adhere to, including the atheist religion being promulgated by these left-wing mofos.  Yes, atheism is a religion ("a particular system of faith and worship") for them. So, lets do a little critical thinking here.  Why?  What's motivating them?  It seems to me that ordinary people who don't believe in God simply ignore it.  It's called live and let live. Historically, proactive wars against religion are conducted by statists (totalitarian) governments.  They are every bit the menace as theocracies.  These are either bad people, or true believers searching for relevancy.  In any case, they are my enemy, and from that same ilk who want people imprisoned who don't buy into man caused climate change, et al.  MFCS.

BARN ARMY TRAINING

Interesting that we (Canadians, anyway) knew about the benefits of heavy sloped tank armor in 1942, yet only the Soviets used the technique in their T-34 tank that defeated Hitler's  more heavily armored Tiger tanks.

TERPS ARE BEST!

Res Ipsa Loquitur                                                                                                  WHAT A WEEKEND!!!

Not only did the Terps win the BIG 10 football title Saturday, demolishing MSU52-6 (and finishing the season 10-1), but the men won the NCAA soccer title; the Terps women hoopsters beat UConn 92-77;  and Terps men are picked to win the NCAA Hoops.  What a year.  USA USA USA.  What a country!
The sports savvy among you will of course know that this is mostly a bunch of crap, but readers who don't care about sports will leave believing that Maryland sports is preeminent.  Today's  truth is what you believe.  It's why we are doomed, so fuckit.

Also from S&T:  "A peek inside the Trojan Horse"

http://www.wnd.com/2015/09/migrants-discuss-raping-robbing-other-travelers/

A Ukrainian journalist who traveled by train with some of the hundreds of thousands of Mideast migrants seeking asylum in the West is warning that many are not the peace-loving job-hunters the new host nations desire.

A fluent speaker of Arabic, Aida Bolivar said she overheard them openly speak of robbing and raping fellow travelers.

Read it and watch the video. As with a lot of stuff I send out, this will not be news to anyone who has been paying attention. As for those who have their heads in the sand, even this may not convince them.

Excerpt:

WND previously reported that among the demands from the Muslim migrants is that they be allowed to go to nations where they get the most benefits from taxpayers.

“And for what job are they being paid?” wrote Islam expert Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch.

“Proving Europe’s multicultural bona fides?”

His retort came after the London Express reported migrants from Syria “are demanding they are allowed to go to Sweden or Finland because the terms of asylum are more favorable for them.”

The report quoted asylum seeker Marwen el Mohammed giving his reasons.

He said he wants to avoid Denmark, because “the salary for refugees decreased about 50 percent from 10,000 kroner, about $1,500, to about 5,000 kroner.”

Further, he said in the report, Finland and other countries allow families to join together “within two or three months,” but Denmark requires them to wait a year.

Meanwhile, U.S. national security officials have discussed boosting the projected number of refugees accepted from 70,000 in 2015 to 85,000 in 2016 and then 100,000 in 2017.

President Obama has called for cooperation from European countries on the migrant problem. The Department of Homeland Security and the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration say there is resistance to a flood of newcomers, and Democrats and Republicans are divided on the issue.

Democrats charge that the U.S. isn’t doing enough, while top GOP officials have warned that taking Syrian refugees creates a national security risk, as terror-seeking individuals may come to the country amid those who truly are fleeing violence.

ISIS has confirmed its intent to infiltrate the West through the flow of migrants.

A Hungarian government official recently made the astounding prediction that up to 35 million migrants could flood into Europe as part of a historic population shift.
