ABC Climate Crap
They really like rats.  You just can't kill them fast enough ...

A  Comment :

"Just keep shifting the parameters of “acceptable” thinking, until you are comfortable.
Only, your successors will just continue to shift parameters, which strips away the “comfort zone” once so desirable for your younger self.
There are rules and customs, evolved over the centuries and millennia, that have set forth the basic guidelines for human interaction. It is not always wise to challenge the existing rules without considering the consequences. Most social experiments fail, not because they are too unique, but because they have been tried repeatedly in the past, and those experiments failed then, too." alloysteel

Progressive Science *SPIT*

            Global Warming Fade-Out

"The scientific method is not a partisan issue, it's not something that should be divisive," said Harrison Hayward, a fourth-year UConn medical student organizing a Hartford rally, which will begin at noon at Mortensen Riverfront Plaza.

Scientists and academics in Connecticut and across the country will head out of the labs and into the streets on Saturday — Earth Day — to confront what one organizer described as a lack of respect for science among some members of Congress and President Donald Trump.

SPELL SCIENTIFIC METHOD
Harrison Hayward is today's poster boy for "Millennial With High IQ Who Flunks Critical Thinking 101" Because, well, he's suffered an average Millennial's education.  And become just another insufferable twat.

ASIDE:  When my old Blog blew up, I lost my list of  "Critical Thinkers," as Linda calls them.  So, when I wanted to go to the number one, most visited Scientific Method Climate Change site, I had a brain fart. Couldn't remember the name.  So I Googled Climate Science.  Nope.  So I tried "best climate change blogs."  And got this:

AHEM. "THINK PROGRESS" says it all.

Then, of a sudden, I remembered WATTS.  JAMES WATTS! So, if you're watching, Mr. Harrison Hayward, Start here.

Nobel Winner to Obama ...

The Obamissariat

(CNSNews.com) -- President Obama’s statements on global warming are “dead wrong,” said Nobel laureate Ivar Giaever, who rejected the president's claims that man-made global warming is causing climate change.

“I think Obama is a clever person, but he gets bad advice. Global warming is all wet,” Giaever said in a speech entitled Global Warming Revisited he gave on July 1 to scientists from 90 countries attending the 65th annual Nobel Laureate Meeting in Lindau, Germany.

Giaever, who was born in Norway and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1964, was one of three recipients of the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1973. (cuzzin ricky)
God bless you Ivar Giaever, but I'm afraid you're pounding sand (and prolly know it).  Obama doesn't give a rat's ass about the truthfulness of anything that would interfere with his globalist initiative to take control.  What the hell, we've been adequately  warned about him and his ilk, so let's hope.

Top Physicist Bolts from AGW ....

            Global Warming Crap

Freeman Dyson is a 91-year-old theoretical physicist who was a contemporary of Einstein at Princeton, has received multiple international awards for his scientific efforts, and has published numerous books and papers on a wide range of topics.

“That is to me the central mystery of climate science. It is not a scientific mystery but a human mystery. How does it happen that a whole generation of scientific experts is blind to obvious facts? ... I’m 100 per cent Democrat myself, and I like Obama. But he took the wrong side on this issue, and the Republicans took the right side.”
Dyson is criticizing scientists who advance what he describes as an ‘agenda-driven’ perspective on global warming.
In an interview with The Register, Dyson responded to questions about the forward he just wrote for a scientific paper that confronts the “overrated” concerns about CO2 in the atmosphere:

“That is to me the central mystery of climate science. It is not a scientific mystery but a human mystery. How does it happen that a whole generation of scientific experts is blind to obvious facts?”

Dyson, who describes himself as 100% Democrat, strongly disagreed with President Obama:

“It’s very sad that in this country, political opinion parted [people’s views on climate change]. I’m 100 per cent Democrat myself, and I like Obama. But he took the wrong side on this issue, and the Republicans took the right side.”

Part of the issue, according to the interview and the CO2 paper, is that the scientific models that have been used to predict climate outcomes have been wrong:

“What has happened in the past 10 years is that the discrepancies between what’s observed and what’s predicted have become much stronger. It’s clear now the models are wrong, but it wasn’t so clear 10 years ago. I can’t say if they’ll always be wrong, but the observations are improving and so the models are becoming more verifiable.”

For example, NASA has admitted that it is unable to explain a 17-year hiatus in an average global temperature increase, which has led to 95% of manmade global warming projections being false.
Explaining why this refusal of scientists to adjust their opinions when confronted with facts that seemingly refute their manmade global warming hypothesis, Dyson gives a couple of reasons.

He suggests that there has been a confusion between “pollution,” something definitely man-made and solvable, and “climate change,” a feature of nature and mostly beyond the control of humanity.
Furthermore, he also asserts that there’s not only a “large community of people who make their money by scaring the public,” but an element of groupthink at play, as well:

“Real advances in science require a different cultural tradition, with individuals who invent new tools to explore nature and are not afraid to question authority. Science driven by rebels and heretics searching for truth has made great progress in the last three centuries. But the new culture of scientific scepticism is a recent growth and has not yet penetrated deeply into our thinking. The old culture of group loyalty and dogmatic belief is still alive under the surface, guiding the thoughts of scientists as well as the opinions of ordinary citizens.”

Dyson concluded with an assertion and an appeal to dispassionately evaluating facts:

“Climatic effects observed in the real world are much less damaging than the effects predicted by the climate models, and have also been frequently beneficial. I am hoping that the scientists and politicians who have been blindly demonizing carbon dioxide for 37 years will one day open their eyes and look at the evidence.”

If anything, Dyson’s disputation of manmade global warming just adds to the list of scientific voices who are bucking the received “consensus” on temperatures.

  (cuzzin ricky)

At 91-years of age, the very idea that " a whole generation a fair percentage of climate science academia" could be corruptedas they so utterly have beenby the lure of (Liberal) government grant money (with their acquiescence hinging on it), is too new school for Mr. Dyson to contemplate. Hell, I still have a hard time getting used to it.

* No, Mr. Dyson, Obama is backing his group's side of the AGW gambit.

Sierra Club President Destroyed in Senate

GREEN NAZIS

“Based upon the preponderance of the evidence the science is settled, but the thing is that anything is up for debate, Senator. We can debate,” Mair answered.

“I would note that even the phrase ‘preponderance of the evidence,’ having been a practicing lawyer for many years means 51 percent…at least 51 percent is what the preponderance means. I would ask, for example, if you want to end debate, you don’t want to address the facts, how do you address the facts that in the last eighteen years the satellite data show no demonstrable warming whatsoever?” Cruz asked.

...we have satellites, they’re measuring temperature, that should be relevant—and your answer was ‘pay no attention to your lying eyes and the numbers that the satellites show; instead listen to the scientists who are receiving massive grants who tell us do not debate the science,” Cruz added.
“Sir, I would rely upon the Union of Concerned Scientists, I would rely upon the evidence from our own NOAA officials; the data are there,” Mair responded.

“Is it correct that the satellite data over the last eighteen years demonstrate no significant warming?” Cruz asked again.

“No,” Mair responded.

“How is it incorrect?” Cruz asked.

At this point, Mair leaned back from his chair on the witness table and listened to a bespectacled aide, who whispered in his ear.

“Based upon our experts, it’s been refuted long ago, “ Mair asserted confidently. “And it’s not up for scientific debate.”

“I do find it highly interesting that the President of the Sierra Club, when asked when asked what the satellite data demonstrate about warming apparently is relying on staff. The nice thing about the satellite data is these are objective numbers,” Cruz stated.

“Correct,” Mair answered.

“Are you familiar with the phrase, ‘the pause’?” Cruz asked.

After a long pause of his own (presumably to consult with his staff), Mair responded.

“The answer is yes, and essentially, we rest on our position,” Mair said.

“To what does the phrase ‘the pause’ refer?” Cruz asked.

Once again, Mair leaned back in his chair to hear from his staff.

[...]

“Essentially it’s the slowing of global warming during the ‘40s, sir,” Mair finally responded.

“During the 40s? Is it not the term that global warming alarmists have used to explain the inconvenient truth—to use a phrase popularized by former Vice President Al Gore—that the satellite date over the last eighteen years demonstrate no significant warming whatsoever? Global warming alarmists call that the pause because the computer models say there should be dramatic warming, and yet the actual satellites taking the measurements don’t show any significant warming,” Cruz asked.

“But Senator, 97 percent of the scientists concur and agree that there is global warming. Anthropogenic impact with regards to global warming.” Mair began. (emphasis added)

“The problem with that particular statistic, which gets cited a lot,” Cruz said, “is it’s based on one bogus study, and indeed your response…is quite striking. I asked about the science and the evidence, the actual data—we have satellites, they’re measuring temperature, that should be relevant—and your answer was ‘pay no attention to your lying eyes and the numbers that the satellites show; instead listen to the scientists who are receiving massive grants who tell us do not debate the science,” Cruz added. Memo to Pope Francis

stuff I think about

I addressed this in January (Just My Opinion), and I stand by it. Or, more profanely.

THIS JUST IN -
  • Pope Francis Confesses He Knows Little about the Economy

In a striking series of admissions, Pope Francis told journalists on the flight back to Rome from Paraguay that he has an aversion to the economy, which he does not understand very well, and that he has neglected the middle class. On the plane, journalists asked the Pope his opinion of the economic situation in Greece and its relation to the rest of the European Union. Francis responded that he has “a great aversion” to the economy because his father was an accountant and used to bring his work home with him on the weekends. “I don’t understand it very...

Global Clots

and other goofy bastards

It was satisfying, and pompous of me, to think that I was the first to recognize that it would only follow the logic of  AGWers to blame the automobile for our Sun's (and Algore's favorite planet) cooling period. I mean, what else could it be?  There goes my Nobel for Best AGW Bitch Slap.
The conceit that human production of carbon dioxide is capable of driving the earth’s climate is running smack into the sun. CO2 accounts for a mere 0.039% of the atmosphere, while the sun accounts for 99.86% of all of the mass in our entire solar system. And Ol’ Sol is not taking the insult lightly. Vencore Weather reports:
For the past 5 days, solar activity has been very low and one measure of solar activity – its X-ray output – has basically flatlined in recent days (plot below courtesy NOAA/Space Weather Prediction Center). Not since cycle 14 peaked in February 1906 has there been a solar cycle with fewer sunspots.

Fiddling with temperature data for fun and profit

... and other lying bastards

"[garbled] If they ever hit you with it just say 'no' and go on, there's nothing they can do."
Bill Clinton,1992.  The father of the modern Democrat Party

How does this climate fraud fiasco survive?  Forget focusing on climate data studies.  Concentrate instead on the number of lies, and inaccuracies  exposed over more than 30 years.  Who was it doing the lying? Who used faulty data?  The answers exclusively point to the AGW lobby, and that makes them unreliable at best, and many of them flat-out liars. When did we stop holding liars accountable? Sheesh

Real Science and AGW Science

and other lying  bastards

NEW YORK- Scientists who made headlines last March by announcing that they'd found long-sought evidence about the early universe are now abandoning that claim.

"It's disappointing," he said in a telephone interview Friday after the European Space Agency publicized the results. "It's like finding out there's no Santa Claus. But it's important to know the truth."
That signal is what the researchers claimed they had found in observations of the sky taken from the South Pole, in a project called BICEP2.

But now, in a new paper submitted for publication, "we are effectively retracting the claim," said Brian Keating of the University of California, San Diego, a member of the BICEP2 team.

The Pope and AGW

Just My Opinion

Pope Francis I: First Jesuit Pope Shatters Centuries Of Mistrust
Father Thomas Reese, a Jesuit and former editor in chief of the order's weekly magazine America, told CNN in 2005 that  the word "Jesuit" had become synonymous through the centuries with scheming, and that their very reputation as the most free-thinking of Catholics had made them suspect in the eyes of the church hierarchy.

Pope removes Cardinal Burke from Vatican post
A prominent devotee of the traditional liturgy and outspoken defender of traditional doctrine on controversial moral issues, Burke had appeared increasingly out of step with the current pontificate.

Obama finds an ally on political controversies at the Vatican
President Obama increasingly is finding a key policy ally in the Vatican, with Pope Francis standing virtually shoulder to shoulder with the White House on income inequality and a historic diplomatic reboot with communist Cuba. The pontiff next year also appears poised to offer greater support to the president on climate change initiatives and reportedly wants to be a leading voice at a U.N. global warming summit next year, where the American president will make perhaps his greatest pitch to date for more dramatic action on the environment.

Papal Text Says Man Betrays God by Destroying the Environment
MANILA — Pope Francis waded into the global debate on climate change and the environment on Sunday, saying in the text of a speech that man was destroying nature and betraying God's calling to be stewards of creation.

I think my aversion to Jesuits has much to do with my casual acquaintance with those who've served in South America.  My general view (bias) is that, from Mexico south, the predominantly Spanish SA governments are among the most corrupt and cruelest in our hemisphere, if not the world.  For that reason Jesuits serving there have become militant in efforts to protect their flocks, and that militancy manifests itself politically.  Okay.  But, simply put, that mindset ought not include North America, the cradle of worldwide democracy and freedom.   I think I see some of that attitude in Pope Francis (via Argentina).

Moving on then.  It's my nature to look to tradition when it comes to institutions.  I am a strict constitutionalist politically.  I side with Cardinal Burke's  resistance to  some of  Pope Francis's attempts to "modernize" Catholic doctrine. Also, there's  Francis's ascendancy after Pope Benedict's unprecedented resignation.  Resignation.  Made me wary.   But nothing has concerned me more than Francis's  recent, as reported by the New York Times lobby, dalliance with Brock Obama.  I have no real problem with his lobbying Il Douchebag on the Cuba issue.  I do have a major problem with him embracingin a possible quid pro quo imprimaturman caused (AGW) global warming.  The incontrovertible facts are:
  • Obama is a liar.  Obama is a proponent for, and long time facilitator of infanticide.  Obama is the nearest thing to an Augusto Pinochet or Hugo Chávez dictator that El Norte have known.  He ought, on those points alone, have earned the Pope's enmity.  There's more. The entire "climate movement" is manifestly a leftist operation designed to establish one world government, and bring the United States into economic equilibrium. And!, every pseudo-scientific pronouncement, study, white paper, or law passed on man caused climate change, over the past 50 years, has been systematically shown to be fabricated.  Lies. Every diligently scientific study extant agrees.
So.  AGW climatists are liars.  Obama is a liar.  The American left are liars.  If it's true that Pope Francis has indeed signed on to using AGW climate change as an instrument to achieve social change, then he too would be a liar.  Yes, he is still  Vicarius Christi, but we've had bad Popes before.  A Pope's infallibility extends only to proclamations of doctrine of faith or morals.  He hasn't crossed that line. Pray he does not. Because if he does, he would be an illegitimate pope. IMO.

Ice Tsuami

GREEN NAZIS

ICE IS PISSED!

It could be a scene out of a 1950s horror film - an unstoppable 'ice tsunami' gradually moving ashore, destroying everything in its path.

But this footage actually shows the weather phenomenon known as ice floe in action in Minnesota, north America, over the weekend.   Read more:

Ice Tsunami, an extraordinary phenomenon I'd never heard of.  But, I know what this is.  Ice is furious with Al Gore and his  AGW thugs for dissing her (yes, ice is a she, natch) with unfounded rumors and lies about her melting away like, well, a snowman in August.    Minnesotans have only themselves to blame.  They regularly elect Green Liar henchman, giving Gore's followers access to enabling public funds, and a facade of legitimacy they don't deserve.  I am not making this up.  You don't see this happening in Texas or Florida do you?

AGW, Alger Hiss, and Obama was born in Hawaii

Beating Dead Horses Because They Aren't Really Dead
should be dead, but they ain't

But this is how mass hysteria works - and how it always has worked, as the French author Gustave Le Bon observed in his influential 1895 work The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind. One of the key methods by which demagogues work their magic and sell their snake oil to the delusional masses is through the medium of repetition, which acts on people's brains like a virus.
"Science has spoken. There is no ambiguity in their message. Leaders must act. Time is not on our side," said the UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon at the launch of the report yesterday in Copenhagen, Denmark.

"Those who choose to ignore or dispute the science so clearly laid out in this report do so at great risk for all of us and for our kids and grandkids," said US Secretary of State, John Kerry.

What neither appears to have realised is that the report contains no new "science" whatsoever. That is because it is a political document not a scientific one. It merely synthesises the three (heavily criticised) reports released over the last 13 months by the IPCC's three Working Groups, cherrypicks the scariest bits, turns the hysteria up to 11, then asserts on this basis that drastic measures must be taken if disaster is to be averted.

Again, what is going here most definitely isn't science. It's pure propaganda.
Here, as summarised by the BBC's Environment Reporter Matt McGrath, are some of the synthesis report's key claims:
1. Warming is "unequivocal" and the human influence on climate is clear
2. Since the 1950s the observed changes are unprecedented over decades to millennia
3. The period from 1983 to 2012, it says, was likely the warmest 30 year period of the last 1,400 years
4. Warming impacts are already being seen around the globe, in the acidification of the oceans, the melting of arctic ice and poorer crop yields in many parts
5. Without concerted action on carbon, temperatures will increase over the coming decades and could be almost 5C above pre-industrial levels by the end of this century

None of these statements holds up to serious scrutiny.

1. Is so trivial as to be meaningless. Everyone agrees - dependent on timescale - that warming is unequivocal and that humans have an impact on climate, from the farts of beef cattle to the localised warming effects of cities.
2. Is a flat out lie. There have been several recorded instances of temperature rises at least as steep as the one post 1950. The most recent of these was the one between 1910 and 1940.
3. Dishonestly attempts to write off the Medieval Warm Period which - as even Michael Mann once admitted before he fully embraced the alarmist cause - saw average temperatures higher than in the late Twentieth century.
4. Is a litany of half-truths and straw men. Ocean acidification is little more than an urban myth. Arctic melting (or refreezing, as it is doing at the moment) tells us nothing about anthropogenic influences. The crop yields claim is misleading since the one thing we do know about the effects of growing CO2 levels is that they have contributed significantly to the greening of the planet.
5. Is a spectacularly arrogant assertion, giving the paucity of the evidence provided so far to justify it. As for that "5 degrees C by the end of the century" claim: not one of the computer models making such extravagant predictions has had any of its doomy prognostications to date validated by real world evidence.

None of this, of course, will prevent the report being enthusiastically trumpeted by the usual suspects across the mainstream media from the Guardian and the BBC to the New York Times as representing incontrovertible truth that climate change is the most serious issue of our time and that we must act now.  [FULL]

As I see it, the hallmark characteristic of "Progressives" may be found in this statement of fact; they still preach that communist spy Alger Hiss was an innocent victim So, yeah, it is necessary to beat these dead horses incessantly.   They are Demon Screwtape ministering to his nephew Wormwood, a.k.a. the intellectually lazy.

The Climate State
Okay, the BIG LIE is still being propagated by the media, if only by neglecting to report the myriad scandals plaguing the AGW scam.  And, yes, too many dull-witted activist school teachers are still shilling for the movement, and plumping their charges' brains with climatecrapand have been for so long that many of them are now of voting age.

Still, at some point,  people who still buy into the leftist, man-caused climate change scam must be held accountable for what is nothing less than their willful ignorance, which if not stopped will bring a nation to economic ruin, and enslavement on the Liberal plantation.

Yes moms and dads, it's time FOR YOU to tell your brats that climate change is ongoing, natural, and unchangeable! And anyone who says differently is evil, which will come out from under their beds at night and and eat them. Because  they will.
Sheesh!

Michael E Mann comes clean ...

            Global Warming Fade-Out

Michael E Mann; Climate Twat
“an opportunity to denounce capitalist greed.”
"an opportunity to denounce capitalist greed.””

“Instead of discrediting Erlich, his work, somehow, gave birth to what Mann calls “environmental politics.” Continuing, Mann asserts that Earth Day “became an opportunity to denounce capitalist greed.””
Climate change a symbolic battle against an unpleasant, toxic way of life

Mann is obviously a believer in anthropogenic (or man-made) climate change. Much of his essay is spent deriding the left for its unrestrained rhetoric that it uses to “scare Americans into action.”  He says: “the chatter itself, I would argue, has done its share to stall progress.”

Within his argument is some history and context that is illustrative for those who see climate change as cyclical — something natural that has happened before and will happen again, rather than something that is new, scary, and human-caused. Those of us who believe the climate changes, but that human activity is, certainly, not the primary driver, struggle to understand the cult-like following of alarmists like Bill McKibben, founder of 350.org (“A group that seeks to create a mass movement against climate change”) — who Mann spends several paragraphs criticizing.

While I doubt that this is Mann’s intent, a careful reader will realize that today’s climate hysteria has less to do with the climate and more to do with control and economic change.

(Hockey Stick) Mann starts his history lesson with Paul Erlich, author of The Population Bomb — whom I wrote about in June. Mann calls Erlich’s book “a foundational text in the environmental movement” — yet, he points out that Erlich’s “predictions didn’t pan out.” Instead of discrediting Erlich, his work, somehow, gave birth to what Mann calls “environmental politics.” Continuing, Mann asserts that Earth Day “became an opportunity to denounce capitalist greed.”

Using acid rain as an example, Mann points out: “environmentalists meanwhile found out the problems were less dire than they had claimed” and that “Today, most scientists have concluded that the effects of acid rain were overstated to begin with.”

Because I follow the politics of energy policy, I found this point Mann makes most interesting: “Environmental issues became ways for politicians to signal their clan identity to supporters.” He observes: “As symbols, the ideas couldn’t be compromised.” And, he states: “climate change is perfect for symbolic battle.” He calls carbon dioxide “a side effect of modernity.”

Addressing the charts and graphs that so frequently accompany the climate change hyperbole, Mann says: “In the history of our species, has any human heart ever been profoundly stirred by a graph? Some other approach, proselytizers have recognized, is needed.”
