The Los Angeles Times reports: “Foreign spies use hacked data to identify U.S. intelligence agents.”     Foreign spy services, especially in China and Russia, are aggressively aggregating and cross-indexing hacked U.S. computer databases — including security clearance applications, airline records and medical insurance forms — to identify U.S. intelligence officers and agents, U.S. officials said. Russia and China have repeatedly carried out acts of war against the United States, perhaps emboldened by the knowledge that our administration doesn’t like America any better than they do.     At least one clandestine network of U.S. engineers and scientists who provide technical assistance to U.S. undercover operatives and agents overseas has been compromised as a result, according to two U.S. officials. And yet, as best we can tell, the Obama administration has done nothing to retaliate, even though our own technical capacities are, if we ever were to use them, far greater.     The Obama administration has scrambled to boost cyberdefenses for federal agencies and crucial infrastructure as foreign-based attacks have penetrated government websites and e-mail systems, social media accounts and, most important, vast data troves containing Social Security numbers, financial information, medical records and other personal data on ­millions of Americans.     Counterintelligence officials say their adversaries combine those immense data files and then employ sophisticated software to try to isolate disparate clues that can be used to identify and track — or worse, blackmail and recruit — U.S. intelligence operatives. This is a very big problem. Is Barack Obama concerned about it? Or is his attention devoted entirely to fomenting race hatred in the United States? National security is, apparently, the least of his concerns.     Asked whether adversaries had used this information against U.S. operatives, [William Evanina, a top U.S. counterintelligence official] said, “absolutely.”     U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, say China and Russia are collecting and scrutinizing sensitive U.S. computer files for counterintelligence purposes.[Full Powerline] Unless you've been sleeping for the past 7 years, none of this will surprise.  The public statement, by a respected source however,  that Russia and China know that Obama doesn't like The USA any better than they do, has for me the same impact as did the New York Time's 1996 Essay, "Hillary is a Congenital Liar."  Alas, that came to naught.

It calls for an independent investigation of the president next year, timed for maximum negative impact on Mr. Bush's re-election effort. Saddam Hussein had stores of WMD, Democrats suddenly pretended they hadn't. WTF?   The (treasonous) Rockefeller memo is one example of the DEM's new strategy; disagree and confront Bush over everything he does in the War Against Terror, or get steamrolled by the GOP in the coming elections.   The New York Times was a willing messenger.  As a result, every comedian would need only mention "Bush" and "Weapons of Mass Destruction" in the same sentence to bring the house down. So now the Times are reporting on Saddam's WMD—that ever existed.  Do they  at least reference their error?  No, they  blame  Bush and Rumsfeld for keeping silent about the WMD they discovered in Iraq! There is a reason why polls conducted with knowledgeable Americans show that 87% agree that, had the 9-11 Islamos instead crashed planes into the New York Times building; Rockefeller Center, and  Democrat Party H.Q.; nobody would have much cared. ”

Keeping to the spirit of Death Penalty Month, let's review the execution of Pvt. Eddie Slovik. Slovik's offense: desertion in wartime. (See the tie-in?) Unlike Bowe Bergdahl, who deserted his unit, according to the accounts of his comrades, Slovik never actually deserted. He also didn't call America a "disgusting" country or say he was "ashamed to be an American." Slovik was just a chicken. In October 1944, as Allied forces were sweeping through France, Slovik left his position on the front lines, walked to the rear of his unit and handed a note to the cook, confessing his desertion. The letter explained that he was "so scared" that he had already abandoned his unit once, and concluded: "AND I'LL RUN AWAY AGAIN IF I HAVE TO GO OUT THERE." Slovik was like Bradley Manning minus the lipstick and eyeliner. A lieutenant, a company commander and a judge advocate all tried to persuade Slovik to shred the letter and return to his unit, warning him that he'd be tried for desertion otherwise. Slovik refused. In the middle of World War II, the military court-martialed Slovik, tried him and sentenced him to death. Allied Supreme Commander Dwight Eisenhower denied Slovik's pardon request, saying it would encourage more desertions, just as the fighting was getting especially hot. Slovik was executed by firing squad and buried among the numbered graves of court-martialed rapists and murderers in an American military cemetery in France. Contrast Slovik's story with the beloved troop whose return just cost us the release of five of the most dangerous terrorists in the world. Three days before he walked off his base, Bergdahl emailed his parents: -- "I am ashamed to be an american." -- "The US army is the biggest joke ... It is the army of liars, backstabbers, fools and bullies." -- "These people need help, yet what they get is the most conceited country in the world telling them that they are nothing and that they are stupid." -- "The horror that is america is disgusting." Hitler's Mustache                WHY?   Here's the real question.  Why?  Why now?  Obama knew that by giving congress a 30 minute heads-up, instead of the by-law required 30 days, there would be a firestorm.   This was always going to be for him a lose-lose political action, and yet he did it anyway.  Why?  I've had stuff swirling about in my minimalist brain, and this is the best I could come up with. Obama has planned a "terrorist action" so devastating that he can use it to declare martial law- a total lock down- and rule imperiously.  I mean more imperiously than usual.  A glitch of some kind developed, and his al-Qaeda benefactors desperately needed leadership from the likes of the Gitmo Dream Team.  The pretext, also suggested by his "advisors," was a swap for Taliban captive, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.  It's likely that Obama did not anticipate that Bergdahl's back story of treason and desertion would be noticed, if he even knew himself.  Gird-up! By the by, here's the most precious (and oh-so telling) thing in the aftermath. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) warned Wednesday that Republican lawmakers would call for President Obama’s impeachment if he released more prisoners from Guantanamo Bay without congressional approval.
