"Farkle !!  No fargin words for this!"

On Friday, the Army revealed that it is nixing the grenade throwing requirement, where recruits had to show that they could hurl the explosive a minimum of 25 meters, because “a large number of trainees” can’t meet the distance, even lacking the physical ability “to throw a hand grenade 20 to 25 to 30 meters.”

[...]

Some have questioned whether the removal of the grenade requirement was an accommodation for female recruits, though the Army has denied those allegations ...

M1A2 Abrams didn’t place.

OBAMUNISM, The Party
,

Six NATO countries squared off last week in the Strong Europe Tank Challenge, a two-day competition that pitted some of the alliance’s best tank crews against each another in a series of events centered on armored warfare. The challeng was the first of its kind there since 1991.

The challenge featured seven tank platoons in total. Denmark, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Poland all competed with one platoon, while the United States sent two. Each platoon included four tanks manned by four men. Germany took the gold in its Leopard 2A6 tanks, followed by Denmark and Poland in second place and third place respectively, while the U.S. Army in the M1A2 Abrams didn’t place.
I am mildly surprised that the Abrams tank, the preeminent tank in the world just 8 years ago, had lost some edge;  but JFC! The U.S. Army in the M1A2 Abrams didn’t place?  And that's against NATO tanks.

Like all of you, the Obama occupation has been a nightmare event for me; but I, we here, have done just about all we could do without .. you know—being responsible for a slew of Obama Highs, and Obama  airports.   However, and I'm not making this up, while I am grateful for a long life of living in the greatest country the world has known, a current blessing is that I am 95 years old, and waiting for my ship to sail into the sunset.  Oh, one other thing, knowing my kids will eventually say, "Mom and Dad were right."

Obama's High Heel Troopers

OBAMUNISM, The Party
,

The wussification of our military is in full swing, thanks to all the empty suit "yes-men" clad with stars and medals prancing about the Pentagon promoting political correctness [PC]. Obama has done a remarkable job hiring, inspiring and attracting military leaders who check their backbones along with their cell phones at the Pentagon's front door. Valiant leaders like Gen. Stanley McChrystal had to exit before the spine removal surgery could begin.

You may recall the Washington Times piece awhile back reporting that Arizona State University Army ROTC cadets were allegedly pressured by leadership to walk around in high heels to "raise awareness of sexual violence against women." Raise awareness? I reviewed the pictures and fail to grasp how male soldiers sporting heels, many in uniform, did anything but serve to demoralize those who voluntarily serve.

Meanwhile, the Commander-in-Chief wearing mom jeans sits in the Oval Office with his pen and phone diligently working to leave his legacy of a softer, gentler, more touchy-feely military.

Meanwhile, the Commander -in- Chief wearing mom jeans sits in the Oval Office with his pen and phone diligently working to leave his legacy of a softer, gentler, more touchy-feely military.
Mr. Obama recently added verbiage to the Army's section of the 2017 DOD budget, ensuring the Army "will provide every Soldier and civilian equal opportunities to rise to the level of their merit regardless of their gender, their race, or their self-identity," reports the Washington Times.

While unbiased opportunity is terrific, what place does "self-identity" have in an organization steeped in conformity and tradition, not individualism?

In this brave, new age of "Call Me Caitlyn" and Rachel Dolezal, the corrosive effects of political correctness in our public restrooms will do the same to the military. As it stands, the next president will inherit a squishy U.S. military, so slimmed down and overrun by political correctness it is virtually unprepared to address the rising threats of a dangerous world and defend the United States as the Constitution so charges. Women Packing Iron

a major award

Last women wash out of Ranger School
Biology: 1 Political Correctness: 0

[...] For those who aren’t familiar with the course, it is 61-days of intense stress, sleep deprivation, lack of food and any other item that could conceivably make life at the bottom of Maslow’s Heirarchy not a challenge, and general suck. The graduation rate is a [deleted]-hair above 50% but this masks the fact that 37% of all graduates have to repeat at least one phase. So 61-days is really a best case and most graduates spend closer to 75-days in the course. One of my officers started the course three times before finally completing it as distinguished honor graduate.

One hardly knows what the Army was thinking. If physical standards aren’t radically changed for women, and Bruce Jenner isn’t in the class, human physiology in terms of muscle mass, weight, bone structure, and upper body strength indicate that few, if any, birth-women (I guess we have to start using this now to be clear) can pass the program. Personally, I was betting the Army would fold like a cheap suit. When the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff says:

“Importantly, though, if we do decide that a particular standard is so high that a woman couldn’t make it, the burden is now on the service to come back and explain to the secretary, why is it that high? Does it really have to be that high?”

The remaining eight female Ranger School candidates failed the first phase of the U.S. Army’s elite infantry program, the Army said in a statement late Friday. Of the eight women, five were kicked out of training. Three others will be allowed to start over from the beginning of the first phase of Ranger School. Those three will start class on June 21. The Army said in a statement that 29 students failed to meet the standards of phase one, also known as the Darby Phase. A vast majority of the students who are being dropped from the course were unable to successfully lead a patrol. All students received multiple opportunities to lead a patrol as a squad or team leader, the Army said.
And, of course, the reason we would be questioning that is that any woman’s career is much more important than any number of bodies left strewn about a battlefield.

Much to my surprise, the Ranger cadre have held firm to the macro-standards. Of the 19 women in the first class, eleven did not complete the first four days, the Ranger Assessment Program — what used to be known as City Phase, of the course. At the end of the Darby Phase, the remaining eight women were recycled having failed to meet the standard necessary to move on to Mountain Phase at Camp Frank D. Merrill in Dahlonega, Georgia. At the end of the recycle period, five of the remaining eight women were dropped from the course. Three were allowed to start with a new class from Day One. This would entail retaking the Ranger Assessment Program.

[The full SNAFU]

Don't even start.  There is nobody on this blog who loves women more than me, but puh-leeez!  I am forever and  adamantly against throwing our women into combat roles for the obvious sexist (yes, it is technically sexist) reasons—which necessitate letting women cadets at West Point parade with lightweight wood replicas of the rifles the man carryas I'm told they did; and all the rest the the Patsy Schroederization We Are Woman crap.  But even more importantly, cloistering women with men on long combat tours, especially aboard ships, creates unnecessary tensions plus morale and disciplinary problems.  You know very well what I mean. We don't have to so this.

When Progressives are in charge

Army ROTC cadets are complaining on message boards that they were pressured to walk in high heels on Monday for an Arizona State University campus event designed to raise awareness of sexual violence against women.
The Army openly encouraged participating in April’s “Walk A Mile in Her Shoes” events in 2014, but now it appears as though ROTC candidates at ASU were faced with a volunteer event that became mandatory.
This, to put it charitably, is freakin insane. Meanwhile: Obama's purge of the U. S. military is unprecedented

Obama's Man Hagel

GREEN NAZIS

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel addressed the Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas on Monday, unveiling a comprehensive plan for how the U.S. military will address the effects of climate change.

Rising global temperatures, increasing sea levels and intensifying weather events will challenge global stability, he said, and could lead to food and water shortages, pandemic disease and disputes over refugees and resources.

The Pentagon’s “2014 Climate Change Adaptation Roadmap” describes how global warming will bring new demands on the military.

Among the report's conclusions: The President's purge of  the Officer Corps, and reduction in military readiness to the lowest level since post WWII leave us vulnerable to imminent threats from    Coastal military installations that are vulnerable to flooding will need to be altered; humanitarian assistance missions will be more frequent in the face of more intense natural disasters; weapons and other critical military equipment will need to work under more severe weather conditions. The Warship Gabby Giffords WTF

Sigh

Yoo Hoo! Ahoy There!

Homer Simpson–  “Hey, do we get to land on an aircraft carrier?”

Helicopter Pilot– “No, sir.  The closest vessel is the U.S.S. Walter Mondale; it’s a laundry ship.  They’ll take you the rest of the way.”

In a daring daytime operation, apparent domestic terrorists have lured US Navy Capt. Joseph Tuite, Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP) Gulf Coast into a local Denny's where they are holding him hostage with unlimited coffee refills and complimentary Moons over My Hammy.

Captain Tuite is a mission critical asset to the official keel laying ceremony for the USS Gabrielle Giffords.

Reacting swiftly, the Obama administration awarded the now POW Captain Tuite with the Silver Star and announced that Vice President Biden is ready to negotiate for the Captain's release.  [satire by Rational Gun]

I breakfast here on the quarterdeck of the USS Gob Smacked, and wonder at the silliness of naming a warship after a anti-military Democrat congressperson, to honor her for being wounded  by a kindred spirited " left wing political radical" gunman, Jared Loughner.   Where are Monty Python when you need them?

The Syrian Mess

                      —   you berks.

Make New Globes

Make New Globes

AS THE civil war in Syria has dragged on, the rebels have become more Islamist and extreme.
  • Jabhat al-Nusra (Victory Front) is the biggest worry. Its global jihadist ideology justifies violence to bring about a nation where all Muslims unite.
  •  The Farouq Battalions, whose territorial reach goes from Homs to Hasaka in the north-east, is another mixed bag, ranging from Islamists to people with no particular ideology.
  • The Supreme Military Command, led by General Salim Idriss, a Sunni defector from President Assad’s army, includes some able commanders but still lacks the cash and arms to match either the regime’s forces or Jabhat al-Nusra, which ignores the military command.
  • Ominously, rebels from more secular-minded or more moderately Islamist groups speak openly of a second war to come—against Jabhat al-Nusra. See full article. [Full article]
If you understand who's who in Syria, I tip my hat to you.  This deal has more factions and intrigue than the Spanish civil war.  But here's one thing we can take to the bank.  The United States will never again win any war that Democrats have any part of, and I include congressional  influence.  Look at this mess; why bother?

ASSAD’S FRIENDS

The Islamic Republic of Iran - a Shiite Muslim regional power - is a staunch ally of the Assad government and has been providing arms, military training and cash. If Assad falls, Iran will be deeply wounded.

Iraq
After American troops toppled Sunni Saddam Hussein in 2003, Iraq’s Shiite majority became dominant. With this shift came regional alliances with Shiite countries including Iran and Syria.

Russia
One theory for why Russia has been so resolute in its backing of Damascus is to ensure continued control of its only Mediterranean naval base, which is in the Syrian port of Tartus.

ASSAD’S FOES

Saudi Arabia

It is a follower of the strict Wahabi branch of Sunni Islam. In backing anti-Assad forces, Saudi Arabia is challenging its main regional foe, Shiite Iran. Some experts believe the Sunni-Shiite divisions are being exaggerated for political reasons.

United States
Until June, the administration was opposed to providing any lethal assistance to Syria's rebels, but in June it said it was moving ahead with sending weapons to vetted members of the opposition. What are "vetted members?"  Honest Syrian military rebels have been shoved aside by al Qaeda and the Muslim Broterhood.  Can you say "Egypt's Arab Spring?"

Turkey
Formerly a close friend of Syria, Turkey’s moderate Islamist government has become a supporter of the rebels and supplying them with arms,

Jordan
Allows American troops to train Syrian rebels on its territory and F-16 jets are positioned there.

Hamas: The Palestinians

Israel
Believed to have carried out three bomb strikes this year in Syria targeting Hezbollah weapons caches but refuses to confirm or deny whether it was responsible. Were Israeli bombers flown by Hamas?

Drudge is reporting that Obama's DOD "will only follow the International community" (UN?) into  Syria.  Nope, can't be the UN; Russia would veto.  So,  international community means the US, Code Pink, and a bunch of token bit players from France.  The answer to this mess is of course to take out Iran, and enjoy the peace.

The tree falling with nobody to hear it option
The other thing to do is simply never again acknowledge that there is a Middle East.  Replace maps and globes with Ocean.  Nobody will ever know, or care. We have as much oil in the ground as they do, so screw'em.

General Mad Dog Mattis

TRANSITION
Mad Dog Mattis ... most revered Marine in a generation.”
He rubbed civilian officials the wrong way

Res Ipsa Loquitor

Gen. James Mattis, known to his troops as “Mad Dog Mattis,” is retiring after 41 years of military service.

1. “Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.” (San Diego Union Tribune)

2. “The first time you blow someone away is not an insignificant event. That said, there are some assholes in the world that just need to be shot.” (Business Insider)

3. “Find the enemy that wants to end this experiment (in American democracy) and kill every one of them until they’re so sick of the killing that they leave us and our freedoms intact.” (San Diego Union Tribune)

4. “I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you fuck with me, I’ll kill you all.” (San Diego Union Tribune)

More of "the best quotes"
The Marine Corps Times is calling Mattis the “most revered Marine in a generation.”

Mattis has been commander of the United States Central Command since 2010 and led the 1st Marine Division into Iraq in 2003.

According to reports, President Barack Obama decided to force the Marine Corps legend out early because he rubbed civilian officials the wrong way, and forced them to answer tough questions regarding Iran.
Mattis was an inspirational leader of men and his powerful words will go down in history.

I was speaking with a friend whose husband is a (US NAVY) submarine commander.  She, like most of us, is frantic, and at a loss to explain what just happened.  I asked her in the spirit of bar-talk whether her husband had said anything about the "military" solutiuon  (not that either of us support one).  Without answering, she offered that he had told her that our military is now weaker than it has been since he's been in the military. It's getting weaker.

Tipped Over?

Res Ipsa Loquitor

The official story surrounding the events of September 11, 2012 in Bengzahi, Libya which left four Americans dead, has now officially fallen apart.

After numerous flips and flops by the Obama administration, which originally attempted to paint the incident as a Muslim outcry over an anti-Islamic video, whistle blowers throughout the U.S. government, including within the White House, the State Department, national intelligence agencies and the U.S.military have made available stunning details that suggest not only did operational commanders have live visual and audio communications from drones overhead and intelligence assets on the ground, but that some commanders within the military were prepared to go-it-alone after being told to "stand down."

Africom commanding officer U.S. General Carter Ham, after being ordered to essentially surrender control of the situation to alleged Al Queda terrorists and let Americans on the ground die, made the unilateral decision to ignore orders from the Secretary of Defense and activated special operations teams at his disposal for immediate deployment to the area.

According to reports, once the General went rogue he was arrested within minutes by his second in command and relieved of duty
. [MORE]

This story is in a state of flux.  Here's two comments to that article

Sooo what this article states to me, is that General Ham didn’t select a second in command that was loyal to him...
but instead was a drone in the collective..

Ham may have assumed democrat functionary’s can be loyal..
On the other hand Ham may be a democrat himself..

HAm was not in charge.. he didn’t know his men.. or HIS situation..
Seems pretty much the case with Petreaus as well..
Zero like Clintoon has seemed to salt traitors in the ranks.. maybe even George Bush.. Remember Bush KEPT most of Clintoons lawyers at the Justice Department..

Little doubt the Chiefs of Staff are functional Marxists too.. like the Cabinet..

Zero just may have critical mass met for a Coup D’Etat..
He also OWNS the FBI, NSA, CIA, and BATF... supported by a corrupt Justice Department.. Plus Zero OWNS the Unions meaning the Police, Firefighters and Teachers.. in most all States..

A Coup D’Etat is possible.. assuming it hasn’t happened ALREADY..
It’s possible Romney is the same cabals Plan “B” in case Zero totally screws up.. and causes the sheeple to STAMPEDE..

I am ready to stampede NOW.. in ways already have.. (metaphorically)..

and

Sounds good.

But get back to me when there is documentation of an actual “arrest” of a U.S. Army General.

Under UCMJ disobeying orders would not cause an arrest of military personnel other than a superior officer ordering that the service member be relieved of duty.

Fog of war.  Something happened, but count on some of these details being altered.  Still - I am not surprised.  It's seemed, to me anyway,  that Obama has been trying to provoke us. He may just have.

Ochopping the Military

Culture

Three things that can be lumped together

  1. Pentagon proposes 13% cut in Army size...
  2. Obama Administration Intends to Unionize U.S. Military with Executive Order
and ...
  1. If this nation doesn't reconnect with its military, we will lose more than our wars
re #3 ...  About 1 percent of the nation's population is currently in uniform as either active duty or reserve such as the National Guard, and that number will dwindle as factors such as budget cuts and the inevitable drawdown because of the end of the Iraq War take effect. During World War II, about 12 percent of the population was in uniform. True, it was a different time and a different war. But, an entire generation comprising millions of citizens had some personal experience with the duties, sacrifices, opportunities and pride that came with military service. That shaped citizens' outlook on everything from how they voted to what they considered the proper role of the United States in the world. This gap is particularly large among young people.

I may be the only conservative in the nation who rues the day we stopped drafting men into the military.  Now, when fewer than 50%  pay any income tax, and 99% of  under-40s have never served in the military ... —.    With no investment, nor pride of ownership,  we're exactly like any run-down pulic housing project.  Francis Ewan Urquhart is my only hero.and role model.  God help me.
