WISCONSIN’S DIRTY DEEP STATE DOINGS

Wisconsin Police State USA

This is one of the creepiest articles I have ever read. It reminds me of my experience being SWATted — having armed police rush into my home in what looked like retaliation for my speech. Yet in the case described in the article, the SWATting is actually being carried out . . . by the government.
In Wisconsin, citizens had cops bust into their homes with battering rams. Property was taken from their homes, in full view of the neighbors — and in some cases officers mocked them. Then the citizens were told that they could tell nobody about what had happened. If they did, they could go to jail.
All for exercising their First Amendment rights. Essentially, for being conservatives.
And on Twitter, some lefties — including allegedly reputable outfits like the Alliance For Justice — are celebrating it. Alliance for Justice? More like “Alliance for Just Us.”
Every time a local grand jury investigating a police department comes to a decision that some politicians don’t like, there is a call for a federal civil-rights investigation. In Wisconsin, we have a clear and obvious case of out-of-control authorities conducting a campaign, possibly criminal, of police suppression targeting people for their political beliefs, a gross violation of their civil rights.
Where’s the investigation?
Question for the lawyers here: Isn’t this a case for the Civil Rights Act of 1871, a.k.a. the Klan Act? That act forbids any state or local authority acting under color of law from depriving U.S. citizens of their civil rights under federal law. This seems like an obvious remedy to me.
Well, the Klan was a bunch of Democrats concerned about the locals getting uppity, too.
ANOTHER UPDATE: In the comments, Prof. Stephen Clark observes:
Every Democrat should repeatedly be asked whether they support the police state tactics used by Democrats in Wisconsin. As with Rand Paul every media interviewer should be asked by candidates to answer the same as the price for continuing the interview.
Wisconsin Democrats should be made into a public embarrassment for Democrats generally. Behavior of this kind will cease only when it carries a global political cost.
Indeed. Excellent point. (Via Insta Pundit)

When Liberals Are Losing ...

SCOTT WALKER
Wisconsin Ranger

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is a sheriff who's been called-out by the bad guys so many times it's a wonder he's still walking.  But he is, and the floor is littered with dead union thugs who tried to kill him.  What we have here then, from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel,  is the familiar Liberal contrivance of offering advice to the guy who's just kicked your ass.

Is Wisconsin better off with weaker unions?

Some conservatives think so. Legislators will consider the question when right-to-work legislation is introduced early next year. Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) said members in his house would begin debate within weeks.

But I think Gov. Scott Walker and the Republican leadership should tread carefully. There is scant evidence that right-to-work laws boost job creation; there is evidence that weaker unions hurt working people. And there is no doubt whatsoever that a fight over right to work in Wisconsin will be bloody. Remember Act 10?

Under right-to-work laws, workers in unionized shops cannot be required to pay dues as a condition of employment. That creates a "free rider" problem for unions as workers calculate that they can benefit from representation without paying for it. As a result, unions have a harder time organizing and less clout. Twenty-four states have some form of right to work including Michigan and Indiana.

Walker says right-to-work is not a priority but he hasn't said whether he would sign a bill if one reaches his desk. If a bill gets to Walker, I don't think there is any question what he will do. He will sign it.

Conservatives have long argued that workers should be free from the coercion that comes from forced union dues, and they believe that right-to-work gives workers more choices. I understand their arguments. Years ago, I was approached to organize the newsroom where I was working at the time by a rep from the typographers union. I declined. As a young reporter, I wanted the freedom to work as many hours as I needed to learn the craft and felt the union might limit my ability to do that.

But that said, I don't think workplace freedom is the real objective here. This is about weakening unions.

James Sherk of The Heritage Foundation, the conservative think tank, wrote in a 2011 paper that right to work "makes unions less aggressive and encourages business investment, creating jobs."

Does it really encourage job growth?  (OMFG, YES).

Liberals Threaten to Assassinate Walker After Victory;

 “You Dead, B**ch”

Liberals called for and threatened to assassinate Scott Walker after his reelection this night in Wisconsin. The threats ranged from specific death threats to wishing death on the governor.
Here are just a few.
“You dead:”
Threats to Walker
“I pray:”
Threats to Walker2
“I’ve been wishing death upon Scott Walker:”
Threats to Walker3
And a few more threats, and a few suicidal liberals:

MEANWHILE ...
Holder sends poll watchers to 18 states

The Department of Justice plans to send federal monitors to 18 states to watch for discrimination against voters.

Monitors will head to Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.

“One of the Justice Department’s most sacred responsibilities is ensuring access to the ballot box for every eligible American,” Attorney General Eric Holder said in a video message on the department’s website.

“I want the American people to know that the Justice Department will stand vigilant — working in a fair and nonpartisan manner to ensure that every voter can cast his or her ballot free of intimidation, discrimination or obstruction,” he said.

AFSCUM & Scott Walker

Union Thuggery

“

We have seen this picture before in the Wisconsin’s union-induced long strange trip during the 2012 Recall Election:
Police insurrections.  Palace guards.  Catch a Senator contests.  Doctors behaving badly.  Massive national solidarity protests which weren’t.  Identity theft as political theater.  Shark jumping.  Legislators who run away to other states.  Busbang bangs.  Protesters locking their heads to metal railings and pretending to walk like Egyptians.  Beer attacks.  Canoe flotillas.  (alleged) Judicial chokeholds.  Tears falling on Che Guevara t-shirts at midnight.  Endless recalls.  And recounts.  Communications Directors making threats.   Judges who think they are legislators (well, I’ll grant you that one is common).  V-K Day.  Hole-y warriors.  Cities namedSpeculation and Conjecture.  And the funniest blog headline so far:
First They Came For The Right To Retire After 30 Years On Full Salary With COLAs
The collective bargaining law that precipitated the insanity recently was upheld in its entirely by the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Now the unions are doubling (or is it tripling, at this point?) down on the get Walker meme, viaWaPo:
The nation’s largest public sector union is mounting an intense effort to eject Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker from office this fall, determined to oust the Republican who punctured the power of organized labor in the state.
“We have a score to settle with Scott Walker,” Lee Saunders, president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, said in his first interview about the union’s midterm strategy.
“He took collective bargaining away from us,” Saunders added, noting that the union was first started in the 1930s by state employees in Madison. “He stole our voices, in a state where we were born.”
Okay, then.
AFSCME may be getting a helping hand from the Democratic Prosecutor in Milwaukee County, John Chislhom, whose wife is a union activist and allegedly behind the John Doe investigation of Walker following the failed Recall attempt.
Will it be different this time?

Wisconsin Judge Trumps Election

Bad Judges
“
It's by now an old story.  Citizens vote into law something left-Democrats don't agree with, so they do what?  That's right.

Wis. judge strikes down law limiting union rights

A judge struck down Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's law that repealed most collective bargaining rights for public employees Friday, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The deeply controversial law revoked nearly all collective bargaining rights from most workers and has been in effect for more than a year.

NPR reports that the original law signed by Walker in February sparked massive protests and even caused all 14 Democratic lawmakers to flee the state to Illinois in a failed attempt to stop its passage.

The Governor's staunch support of the law was partially responsible for the unsuccessful attempt at recalling him earlier this yea

Everyone knows that there's really only one solution anymore, but it's a Sophie's Choice.  Do we save the country from judicial tyranny with the noose—by  sacrificing our tradition of making things work without resorting to violent third world solutions?

 Make that Hobson's choice.

The Jubilee

Let's not let Wisconsin interfere with the Jubilee you berks
“

Res Ipsa Loquitur

But enough of my glamorous life. I wanted to talk - once more - about the Queen's Diamond Jubilee since I think it's jolly important that not every post on Ricochet today should be about the results in Wisconsin, delightfully encouraging though they are.

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee. If you're a Royalist like me, your heart will sing at this delightful tribute to the top twenty highlights of the celebrations.

Apart from the terrible weather (God, clearly, is a republican - and, to judge by Wisconsin, a Republican too) which is threatening to kill off the poor old Duke of Edinburgh (who caught a nasty chill, standing in the rain, saluting his wife for four hours), the event was a glorious triumph: an affirmation of national unity and pride in a country which has precious little reason for celebrating either right now.

If on the other hand, you're one of those curmudgeons who took such vigorous issue with my last post on this subject, let me correct a few of your more glaring misconceptions.

1. George III is no longer on the throne. What's more, a lot of us Limeys - myself anyway - are really happy for you that you won the Revolution. When I imagine the Revolutionary wars I definitely think of myself as a minuteman rather than, say, Banastre Tarleton. But hey, guess what: things have changed since 1776.

2. For example, there is nothing tyrannical or remotely oppressive about ...  [Full]

Wow. The Wisconsin recall was a big deal in Britain- and I guess anywhere public sector unions hold sway.   France, your phone is ringing. Oh, that's right.

Hitler Was A Union Buster

HITLER WAS A UNION BUSTER
Wisconsin Unions

Steven Hayward managed to slip away from business long enough to visit the  capitol in the daylight, and capture the scene inside at the moment Governor Walker signed the bill eliminating collective bargaining for some classes of Wisconsin public employees. Above is another quickly-edited, four-minute highlight reel.

"The scene is really rather feeble, as you will see, but nonetheless conveys the infantilism of the modern left. This time I offer some voice-over commentary of my own, but couldn't resist calling in reinforcements from Monty Python on a couple of points. The old saying "It's all over but the shouting" almost doesn't apply, since the shouting going on is so lame. "

Comrade factory workers on strike

Re: infantilism of the modern left: The part I obviously liked was the "Hitler Was a Union Buster" sign.  As opposed to ...?  All the other totalitarian regimes -- that encourage the PFW (People's Factory Workers) to strike for better wages?   Regimes, btw, that many of these organize protesters represent.

Unions - The Last Hope, LOL

UNIONS LOSE IN WI
The Lost Dope

Unions:The Last Hope LOL

Thanks Juice, but if I was a conscientious police officer, I'd have to profile that guy as being of Messican descent of the illegal kind.  Prolly imported SEIU from Las Vegas or Oaxaca.  I'm just saying.

“   "In 30 minutes, 18 state senators undid 50 years of civil rights in Wisconsin. Their disrespect for the people of Wisconsin and their rights is an outrage that will never be forgotten," said Democratic Senate Minority Leader Mark Miller. "Tonight, 18 Senate Republicans conspired to take government away from the people." ”

That was my favorite part.  Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid should only have been this generous with Republicans in their many midnight constitutional emasculating  Obamalations, like health care.
