Barney's Revenge

The American Taxpayer Credit Card is not for everybody.  Please be advised that we have rejected your application. If you wish to appeal this decision, contact Rep. Barney Frank (D MA), or Sen. Chris Dodd (D CT).  It's called dancing with them what brung you here.   Au revoir, it's been grand, but not 3,500,000,000 of them.

Sincerely,

Finally: McCain speaks out on Palin — and doesn't say a whole lot

Hot Air links to this Yahoo News  story about McCain's appearance with Leno last night.  This version is more enlightening.  Yesterday the WSJ set the marker.
“ So it will be telling if Mr. McCain stands up for his partner and says how offended he has been by what some of his staffers have done to her. ”
Leno gave him an opening, and he passed it up.
“

Asked by Leno to address griping about Palin from unidentified McCain operatives in the days following the election, the Arizona senator said, "These things happen in campaigns.

"I think I have at least a thousand, quote, top advisers," he scoffed. "A top adviser said? ... I've never even heard of ... a top adviser or a high-ranking Republican official."

”
As if to anticipate the charge that 75% of the Palin bashing is/was manufactured by in-the-tank media, AP adds gratuitously ..
“ However, McCain never directly addressed the embarrassing controversy over Palin's expensive campaign wardrobe purchased by the Republican National Committee, or statements by unidentified McCain aides who have reportedly said she was not prepared on foreign policy or other issues. The Alaska governor has said in interviews she did not ask for, or want, the $150,000-plus wardrobe for her and her family. ”
"Embarrassing controversy?" What pissants.  Of more importance: Obama has received over $300 million that is unEXPLAINED. That's an actual  "Embarrassing controversy."

Jumping the Gun in Iraq
Jawa nails this one [Ten Iraqi Terrorist Groups Sign Their Death Warrants].
“ Gee, the AP is full of good news now that The One has been elected.

BAGHDAD – Ten Iraqi insurgent groups have agreed to escalate attacks against U.S. and Iraqi forces to derail the proposed U.S.-Iraqi security agreement, an Internet monitoring service said Tuesday.

The declaration against "the agreement of disgrace" was announced Nov. 4 in an audio speech by Sheik Abu Wael, a top leader of the Sunni militant Ansar al-Sunnah, who invited other insurgent groups to join, the SITE Intelligence Group said.

Interesting that this agreement was signed on election day. Maybe they should have waited for....inauguration day instead.

How's that for starting your day with a laugh?  Okay, bitter laugh.  Jawa goes on to predict "I don't think Bush is going to let Obama lose this war. Expect a firestorm of war, pestilence and death upon our enemies prior to his leaving office."

Which reminds me. Israel promised not to attack Iran before the US elections, if I remember correctly.

Systemic Corruption

“ When voters woke up on Wednesday morning after the election, Senator Norm Coleman led Al Franken by what seemed like a relatively comfortable 725 votes. By Wednesday night, that lead had shrunk to 477. By Thursday night, it was down to 336. By Friday, it was 239. Late Sunday night, the difference had gone down to just 221 -- a total change over 4 days of 504 votes.

Amazingly, this all has occurred even though there hasn’t even yet been a recount. Just local election officials correcting claimed typos in how the numbers were reported. Counties will certify their results today, and their final results will be sent to the secretary of state by Friday. The actual recount won’t even start until November 19.

WASHINGTON (Nov. 11) - A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist dictatorship.

"It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he's the one who proposed this national security force," Rep. Paul Broun said of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated Press. "I'm just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may — may not, I hope not — but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism." [continued]
”
Clap-Clap-Clap! What sparked that thought, Rep Broun?  I'll answer that. The same thing that anyone with a brain ought to be questionung.
“ Broun cited a July speech by Obama that has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic presidential candidate called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military.
“
"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set," Obama said in July. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."
”
”
I'll ask one question.  Why would a Democrat politician, who made his bones promising to pull the American military out of the world, want to create a new "civilian" paramilitary unit that's  'just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.?' Hmmm?  In light of his close association with about every 60's Radical in the country, like these people?  In light of his first initiatives will include an assault on the Second Amendment?  How about all those school kids marching around like Storm Troopers?

Here's the poll they're taking, although you'd never know so many sensible people were participating, going by AOL's Political Machine [Obama: The Next Great Dictator?] Read it.  Read the comments.  These people are nuts.  Stupid, and nuts.  Obamaneers. I need a chain gun.

“ We'll find out tonight, when the Arizona Republican appears on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno. In the week since the election, Mr. McCain's campaign team has leaked some nasty stuff about Sarah Palin. These leaks are personal, and they speak more to the character of Mr. McCain and the leakers than they do to Mrs. Palin. So it will be telling if Mr. McCain stands up for his partner and says how offended he has been by what some of his staffers have done to her.

Two weeks or so before the campaign was over, the first round of McCain campaign rumors alleged that Mrs. Palin was a "whack job," and characterized her clothes-shopping as "hillbillies looting Neiman-Marcus from coast to coast." More recently, she has been alleged to know as little about geography as Barack Obama knows about the number of states in the union (at one point, he put it at 57).

The unmistakable message here has nothing to do with Africa, the North American Free Trade Agreement or bathrobes. It is the campaign team's cry, "It's not our fault. How could we ever win with this woman on the ticket?"

The first point to make here is the most obvious: This is the language of losers. [WSJ Continued]
”
Goes on to predict:  "Ultimately, of course, this will all pass. And if Mrs. Palin goes back and continues to do a good job as governor of Alaska, these attacks will likely only reinforce her outside-the-Beltway credentials to rank-and-file Republicans."

Like this ...

TIMES and Treason

All Secrets Fit To Print

“ Security: The New York Times is reporting the U.S. military has "broad, secret authority" to kill al-Qaida terrorists anywhere on Earth. As is too often the case, the Times has spilled information it should have sat on ”

“ None dare call it treason, of course, this telegraphing of information that is useful to our enemies. But the Times nudged up against it when it revealed in Monday's edition the existence of a "secret order" from 2004 that "gave the military new authority to attack the al-Qaida terrorist network anywhere in the world, and a more sweeping mandate to conduct operations in countries not at war with the United States." NOW ...
“ IAEA Finds Uranium Traces at Syrian Blast Site

(IsraelNN.com) United Nations investigators have found traces of uranium contamination at the site of an Israeli air strike in Syria, diplomats told Reuters and German media sources on Monday. The report is the first sign of a “smoking gun” proving that Syria was in fact building a secret nuclear reactor on the site, as Israel and the United States have insisted.

Ex-Official: Russia Moved Saddam's WMD

A top Pentagon official who was responsible for tracking Saddam Hussein's weapons programs before and after the 2003 liberation of Iraq, has provided the first-ever account of how Saddam Hussein "cleaned up" his weapons of mass destruction stockpiles to prevent the United States from discovering them.

"The short answer to the question of where the WMD Saddam bought from the Russians went was that they went to Syria and Lebanon," former Deputy Undersecretary of Defense John A. Shaw told an audience Saturday at a privately sponsored "Intelligence Summit" in Alexandria, Va. (www.intelligencesummit.org).

"They were moved by Russian Spetsnaz (special forces) units out of uniform, that were specifically sent to Iraq to move the weaponry and eradicate any evidence of its existence," he said.

The Supreme Court's duty to protect the population from themselves?  Liberals are sick sick sick.
“ More than one-third of California's lawmakers added their voices Monday to the chorus calling on the state's highest court to overturn  (whatever) approved by voters last week.

Forty-four members of the California Legislature filed a friend-of-the-court brief in support one of the three lawsuits seeking to invalidate Proposition (whatever). The case, brought on behalf of  (whatever), argues  (whatever) be tossed out because voters did not have the authority to make such a dramatic change in state law.

The brief argues that the (people)  improperly usurped the state Supreme Court's duty to protect  (whatever) from  (whatever). Proposition  (whatever) overturned the court's May decision that legalized  (whatever).

“ My child no longer participates in Toontown, an online consensual hallucination provided by Disney. I’m glad; it had promise, but seemed limited, the graphics were chunktastic, and your character had names like Merry Flippy Pantswhistle. What annoyed me most were the foes the toons had to battle for jellybean points – they were called Cogs, and they were all businessmen, various forms of capitalists in robot form. The Disney execs who signed off on the project must have a big bin outside the office where they could place their sense of irony before heading in to work.

Antisocial Conservatives

By W. James Antle, III
 'Center-right' America lurches further left

Mark Steyn:

“ In truth, there is very little evidence that the country has moved left on social issues since 2004, when values voters were said to decide the presidential election. Polls have been shifting somewhat more pro-life since the mid-1990s. Even leftward movement on same-sex marriage, which has gone from being unthinkable in the early '90s to a live issue today, seems to have stalled around late 2003. Republicans emphasized their social conservatism much more in 2004, when they won, than during their losing campaigns of 2006 and 2008.
My Republican friends are now saying, oh, not to worry, look at the exit polls, this is still a "center-right" country. Americans didn't vote to go left, they voted to go cool. It was a "Dancing With The Stars" election: Obama's a star, and everyone wants to dance with him. It doesn't mean they're suddenly gung-ho for left-wingery.

Up to a point.
”
W. James Antle, III (whoever he is) gravitates toward the David Frum camp's solution, "Republicans should now embrace "a future that is less overtly religious, less negligent with policy, and less polarizing on social issues," a move that will "involve painful change" on such issues as abortion."  Also known as the "what do Frank Luntz's focus groups say?" method of social pandering.  Poop. The  "overtly religious" values that so bother these party intellectuals, are values embraced by even those of us who are non-religious  -- because they happen to represent core conservative values.

Mark Steyn, who actually understands, and lives conservatism, recognizes the real problem that faces us, and by "us" I mean all Americans.

“ The president-elect's so-called "tax cut" will absolve 48 percent of Americans from paying any federal income tax at all, while those who are left will pay more. Just under half the population will be, as Daniel Henninger pointed out in The Wall Street Journal, on the dole. ”

The successor to the failed RNC formula, that has been leading us into the jaws of defeat for a dozen years, had better go back to acting out of principle in all matters, regardless of what a Luntz focus group dictates. In fact, quit using focus groups entirely. Give no quarter, and ask none. Begin by moving every resource they have into ACORN infested Minnesota, where Democrats are poised to steal Norm Coleman's Senate seat, using the Christine Gregoire method of "finding lost ballots" until she won. . Things have slipped so far that it may be impossible to restore our democracy, but keeping 100+ million of us together with focused, principled goals will make it possible to do this
Don't Tread On USA
