WE WANT IRFAVIEW! WE WANT ..

I MAD AS HELL!
  .                       ..

We Know Better What Best For US You

They don't even  use this bogus excuse anymore

Why is anyone surprised that Microsoft Corp, and Founder Bill Gates, poured cash into Hillary's campaign war chest? Easy.  Liberal rules begin with the premise that they know what's best for me, ergo it's okay to wipe out competition that becomes a threat to their domination.  Same as what Dems just tried ... again.

Am I right?

Damn right.   My breaking point, this time, is that MS pricks decided too many people were using the best image viewer/management system on God's earth
IrfanViewin lieu of their embedded product. And And I'm not alone.
My hope is the new AG will file criminal charges against MS Corp, and fine them $2 trillion for predatory business practices. And, btw, Apple in no better.

PS- I still haven't forgiven MS for what they did to LOTUS 123. Buncha bastids!

Windows 10

Microsoft will provide an upgrade from Windows 7 or Windows 8 to Windows 10 for free, for a period of one year from the release of Windows 10. There are some important details to this deal that were revealed, and a few that weren’t. In my talk with Woodman, I got what I think is the definitive take on who will have to pay for Windows 10 and when, and who will not.

I think this might be Microsoft's last chance

Chrome

Res Ipsa Loquitor
"I have briefly used Chrome elsewhere, but know that it reports directly to the Kremlin, NSA, and Demoncrat HQ, and I don't want those assholes enjoying the same porn as me." casca

I can't argue with casca, but what the hell—I just now installed Chrome, and sumbitch!  It integrated all my bookmarks, etc., and I feel right at home.  Understand that Blogger (through which this blog is published) is owned by Google.  I am forced to have a G-mail account, but I NEVER use it for any personal bidness.  Anyway, with ot without Chrome, Google know, or have the ability to know, everything about me.  So fuggit.  I want something that works good, and this does.  If they screw with me, I'll post Google's address so they can be harrassed by angry mobs.

Windows 8. Oye.

TECHNO THRILLS

I have seen the future.  I'll pass.

To Quote (out of context)  Archie Bunker,

“It ain’t supposed to make sense; it’s faith. Faith is something that you believe that nobody in his right mind would believe.”

Tain't a day goes by where only inertia keeps me from replacing Windows 7 with XP.   That's right.  I no longer have no faith that Microsoft can offer me something that's more useful than it is not.  I have certain things I want to do, and it seems each new iteration  stops me from doing something else I could do in the past.  Like screen cap videos.  Some wag said "Middle age is when your broad mind and narrow waist begin to change places.. "  I'm past that. Way.  I bet Windows 5 would scream on this quad core machine.

Why people who don't use a Microsoft O/S will eventually go insane.

Why people who don't use a Microsoft O/S will eventually go insane.

I use Expatshield ( http://expatshield.com/ ) to watch on the REAL BBC.

Response to Hobson's Choice

Rotting AF1

I am about to tell you why people who don't use a Microsoft O/S will eventually go insane.

In the above referenced post I complained about not being able to watch any current Top Gear episodes.  Anonymous suggested  Expat Shield which I dutifully (and hastily) installed.  It's quite a hefty program, but finally I was able browse about the streets of London and the BBC.
  • I found Top Gear.
  • I selected "watch the current episode (you have 18 hours left)
  • Message:  We're sorry but people like you who don't live in the UK are not allowed to view video, but you can listen to BBC radio.
Crapshit.  I uninstalled Expatshield, but  ... along with that program I also received "Bear Share."  It's a peer-to-peer share system that I used in the long ago.  It had hijacked the bottom rung of my Firefox menubar, so I closed it.  However, I noticed that while my Homepage dutifully opened with Firefox, opening new tabs took me to a Bear Share search page.

It's now 8:24 AM.  I began the process of deleting Bear Share/Menu Bar at 6:15 AM.  Here's some of what I did.  It didn't solve the problem, so I ripped my shirt off, jumped out of the trench and started killing everything.  House to house urban  warfare.  BLAM BLAM BLAM!  Dll carnage.  HKEY massacre.

Which brings me to my point.  Microsoft  is no different than our filthy government.  They know what's  best for us, and like it or not will shove it down out throats.  Once passed, it's impossible to get rid of. Don't like it?  Too bad.  Their judges won't listen to you, either.  Instead, they send you through a maze of useless FAQs, a process that assumes this is how you make your living wage.

While most rational people would relish being able to take on today's government in man-to-man combat,  we cannot.  Not alone, anyway.  But us WINDOWS users can take on a surrogate. Microsoft .  It's not easy.  You can't  get rid of any of Microsoft's nanny state dictates without all-out mobilization.  I mean all-out.  Leave the wife and kids to fend for themselves for the duration, as you grapple  in the muddy trenches that are  WINDOWS bowels.  But—  if you're persistent—  you can win.  You can kill  an embedded agent.  It feels fk'n  great.  Swollen manly pride!  BEAR SHARE IS DEAD!!! I killed it dead. USA UAS USA! It's like putting a hammerlock on Obama, or carpet bombing the DNC. Catharsis! Sanity!  Apple users have no such outlet, which is why they are often insane.

i rule

i

Okay, that's funny.  I love to tweak Apple cultists like everyone does.  Bur fair is fair. What's not funny *sigh* is how wretched Windows 7 is, and continues to become with every update.  For example, when I transfer pictures from my Canon A560 to the computer, I expect to be able to put them in whatever the hell directory I want.  It was a battle, because Mr. 7 wants to "organize" pictures in a some hierarchical system of its own design, and to hell with what I want. After a fashion I found a way to do it, but now I discover that the 7 pricks have lassoed and herded them back into the corral.  Obviously, then,  someone at Microsoft found out I was doing things the wrong way; cracked my knuckles with a ruler and corrected things.  I call that breaking and entering.

The reason for all this is obvious to, mostly, old timers.  The gene that makes programmers programmers is the same one that makes people control freaks.  It is their natural tendency to thrill at having dominion over people not as bright as they.  These ambitions are controlled in the carefully supervised programming environment.  Guess  what?  Yes, the inmates have escaped oversight, evidently, and are run amok.  If all this makes you think "my God, he's describing government," you're right.  The ambition to control other people attracts the same personality.  When you see a seventh grader campaigning like hell to be elected class president, after nominating himself, you are seeing a future programmer, a manipulator of people Here's an example of that culture, one that exists in Microsoft today.

Beginning with Windows 7, the time waster called Microsoft Hearts underwent an extraordinary metamorphosis.  The key move was retaining statistics from prior games.  The player is now allowed to win, say,  25% of the time with minimum cheating in the form of reneging.   At about the 40% win level however, it's total war.  By that I mean all pretense of playing by the rules is gone.  Every hand is programmed to  make it impossible for you to win.  Stacked deck and reneges galore.  If you still manage to get to the point where a win is possible, even probable, the game uses tactics tantamount to shooting you and declaring victory.  You will simply be trampled.

I swear to Jesus, I just now had a moment of perfect clarity.  Microsoft is  running the Democrat party.

Kill Silverlight

Trouble watching videos?
Uninstalling Microsoft's piece of crap
"Silverlight" will probably clear that right up.

Boned Jello
Thanks to JMcD for the tip. Siverlight is  Microsoft's interface for watching stuff like NetFlix movies on line. Its only function appears to be keeping you from copying any portion of the content.   It will reinstall when you need it again.

If you're having trouble with Firefox, but like your add-ons, etc., get the IE Tab add-on.  It lets you view content using the IE interface in Firefox.
