A Papal Observation

It is a mistake to downplay the seriousness of homosexuality, Pope Francis said in an upcoming book, insisting that homosexuals have no place in the priesthood.
In the book, the pope recounts an interview he had with missionary Fernando Prado, who asked him whether homosexuality was a problem, suggesting that it is not a big deal for priests to be homosexual since it is “just an expression of an affection.”

“That’s a mistake,” Francis replied. “It’s not just an expression of an affection. In consecrated and priestly life, there’s no room for that kind of affection.”

In the past I've shared my thoughts about Pope Francis.  In a nutshell, he's ...erm, at best worrisome. This latest pronouncement ('No Room' for Homosexuality in Priesthood," is stupefying.  Here's what Church doctrine says about the matter.

One can hardly be blamed for being wired with a homo erotic tendency, oui?  The sin is having sex for reasons other than procreation (spilling one's seed on rocks.)  Which is why using the pill is not condoned.  One of the biggest scandals in recent times was the  Father Joseph Maskell  rape of Catholic School girls.

So why, this.  Now?  Seems like he's running with the bulls on this one.

When Soros and Podesta Pick a Pope
Which One is Satire?

VATICAN CITY—In an effort to make the holiday as stress-free as possible for everyone, Pope Francis asked congregants gathered at St. Peter’s Basilica Thursday if it would be okay to just do a low-key Easter this year. “I know we usually get dressed up and make a big deal out of Easter, but wouldn’t it be nice if just this once we had one laid-back mass on Sunday and then called it a day?” said the Supreme Pontiff, noting that while he loved the tradition, he was completely swamped for most of Lent and did not have much time to prepare for the Christian festival this year. “We can definitely do a little communion Easter morning, and maybe we’ll have a quick homily, but, honestly, can we all just save ourselves the hassle and skip Good Friday?” At press time, the Pope was stressing that Easter was really about spending time with loved ones while wondering aloud if it might be better for everyone to just grab brunch at a bistro in Rome’s Flaminio district. *

*Pope Benedict XVI said in a 2007 sermon, “Jesus came to tell us that he wants us all in Heaven and that Hell, of which so little is said in our time, exists and is eternal for those who close their hearts to his love.”

It is “no coincidence” that some Catholic groups “have asked President Trump to open a commission of inquiry to investigate whether the administration of Barack Obama exerted pressure on Benedict,” said Archbishop Luigi Negri in an interview Monday, citing other revelations by Wikileaks regarding efforts by the Democratic Party to sway the direction of the Catholic Church in the United States.

SCROLL

Did billionaire speculator George Soros, President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden, and Obama/Clinton adviser John Podesta conspire to overthrow the conservative Pope Benedict XVI and replace him with a radical, Pope Francis? Did they use America’s intelligence agencies, and our nation’s diplomatic machinery, political muscle, and financial power to coerce and blackmail “regime change” in the Roman Catholic Church?

Far from being some wild conspiracy theory, there is sound prima facie evidence to indicate that this is a serious effort to expose a political scandal of the highest order, involving flagrant, criminal abuse of power at the top levels of the U.S. government. A group of respected Catholic lay leaders have sent a letter to
What about the secret “Cardinal Danneels Mafia” referred to above? According to the Catholic blogspot Rorate Caeli, “The election of Jorge Bergoglio was the fruit of secret meetings that cardinals and bishops, organized by Carlo Maria Martini, held for years at St. Gall in Switzerland." That is the claim of Jürgen Mettepenningen and Karim Schelkens, the authors of a recently published authorized biography of the Belgian Cardinal Godfried Danneels, who refer to the group of cardinals and bishops as the "Mafia-club."
President Donald Trump urging him to launch an official investigation into the activities of the above mentioned individuals (and others) who appear to have been involved in this alleged Vatican coup. They cite eight specific questions they seek to have answered concerning suspect events that led to the resignation of Pope Benedict, the first such papal abdication in 700 years.

“Specifically, we have reason to believe that a Vatican ‘regime change’ was engineered by the Obama administration,” say the petitioners, in their January 20 letter to President Trump. The five signatories to the letter, first published in the Catholic newspaper/weblog, The Remnant, are: Lieutenant Colonel David L. Sonnier, US Army (Retired); Michael J. Matt, editor of The Remnant: Christopher A. Ferrara, author, attorney, and president of the American Catholic Lawyers Association, Inc.; Chris Jackson, Catholics4Trump.com; and, Elizabeth Yore, Esq., Founder of YoreChildren.

HE SAID WHAT?

He warned his followers to turn away from “having a personal relationship with Jesus ...

Pope Francis WTF?

Pope Francis has made some public statements recently that have Catholics and Christians alike very worried. He warned his followers to turn away from “having a personal relationship with Jesus,” adding that it “is dangerous and very harmful.” The speech has people worried that the Pope is fulfilling terrible fantasies.

Speaking in front of a crowd of over 33,000 Christians in Rome, the Pope warned that a “personal, direct, immediate relationship with Jesus must be avoided at all costs.”

He then followed up with a statement that may shed some light on this situation, he said that no Catholic can truly be a follower of God on his or her own, they need the help of the Church for salvation. Of course they do.

Pope Francis also recently made some interesting remarks that U.S. citizens must be subjected to a one world government “for their own good.” He continued to argue that only a “political authority” would be able to combat “climate change” and other global issues. It makes sense that Pope Francis would be so in tune with the climate considering his multiple degrees in science and climatology from esteemed universities..

The Pope seems more interested in pushing the policy of global leaders than preaching the word of God, because he also recently said he believes more power should be in the hands of the U.N. over individual countries.

The Pope clearly has another agenda, what it is, we don’t know, but preaching that you can’t have a personal relationship with God and that you need the Church, and also stating that humanity is better off in the hands of one overarching global power, it seems he may have other ambitions than the spiritual health of his followers.

A personal relationship with the Savior is the foundational principle of Christianity. The Pope’s remarks seem contradictory at best. At worst, they appear to come straight from John’s revelation, which is bad news for all.

Bottom Line .... The Catholic Church has survived some pretty bad Popes; it will survive Francis.  Wait.  I'm not saying Pope Francis is a bad pope just because he's steeped in leftist politics, and takes money from George Solos, and counsels with Barry Obamathe most despicable President of all time.  I'm just saying that on the off chance he's as bad as many Cardinals fear (re: Doctrine of the Faith), the faithful will pay him scant attention.  BTW, my confessor and I are at loggerheads over the efficacy of certain positions this Pope has taken, without any penance imposed so far.

NBC reporter and MSNBC host Katy Tur – who accused President Trump’s advisers of having close ties to Russia – appeared to draw a total blank when a Republican congressman pointed out that former President Obama was caught on a hot mic pledging to give the Russian president more “flexibility” after the 2012 election.

“I see a lot of folks within Donald Trump’s administration who have a friendlier view of Russia than maybe past administrations did,” Tur said during an interview with U.S. Rep. Francis Rooney, R-Fla.

Responding to her claim concerning previous administrations, Rooney attempted to remind her about Obama’s famous promise to Russia.

“Well, I think it was Obama that leaned over to Putin and said, ‘I’ll have a little more flexibility to give you what you want after the re-election,'” Rooney said.

After a pause, the 33-year-old host replied, “I’m sorry, I don’t know what you’re referring to, Congressman.”

I landed on the Golf Channel, and before I could chip my way out I'd become intrigued by this autobiographical film.  You will too, even if you've never packed clubs 'n irons before.  BTW, this is the whole enchilada.  Enjoy.

Francis Ouimet came from an immigrant family that was part of the working class. He watches an exhibition by legendary British golf pro Harry Vardon (Stephen Dillane) as a 7-year-old boy, and becomes very interested in golf. He begins as a caddy at The Country Club, a posh enclave located across the street from his home in suburban Brookline, Massachusetts, while making friends with the other caddies. He works on his own golf game at every chance, and gradually accumulates his own set of clubs. Francis practices putting at night in his room. He wins the Massachusetts Schoolboy Championship. With the inauguration of Donald Trump just days away, droves of his supporters are preparing to meet in Washington D.C. to welcome the new President. But there are also darker forces assembling; a gathering of at least 75 anarchist, socialist and communist groups preparing for an event called #DisruptJ20 that has officially called for violent Black Bloc protesters to gather at 10:00 am on Friday, January 20th in Washington D.C. at the Logan Circle and the Francis Scott Key Memorial.

Black Bloc Tactics
The article gives the criminal participants detailed advice on how to break the law. It explains the materials that the Black Bloc is encouraged to bring and how to use it. Anyone attending the inauguration should be on the lookout for protesters who may boast the following.

▪ Provisions: water (plenty, especially if you’ll be dressed in hot gear or expect chemical weapons attacks), food (don’t rely on shops or shopkeepers in contested zones), etc.

▪ Camouflage: different layers of clothing for different purposes or stages of the action

▪ Defensive gear: banners, shields (possibly disguised as puppets or placards), steel-toed shoes (should still be comfortable for running!), body armor or padding, gas masks or goggles and bandannas soaked in lime juice (store in ziplock bags until necessary), rain coats or chemical protection gear (if there is a risk of chemical attack), whatever relevant medical supplies you know how to apply, etc

▪ Offensive gear: spraypaint, projectiles, slingshots, signs or flags on thick poles (or just plain poles), molotov cocktails, bright lights (to obscure police or camera vision during night actions), ladders and/or bolt cutters for scaling or breaching barriers, etc.

▪ Communications equipment: hand radios, cell phones, police scanners, flags, drums, shared codes for making internal announcements

▪ Transportation: bicycles, enough change for the subway.

FAKE YOU!

.

The press' crusade against the spread of fake news is not going well.

Newsrooms were set abuzz Wednesday morning after a Belgian Catholic weekly published an interview in which Pope Francis supposedly condemned "fake news" as a sin. Ironically enough, the pope didn't quite do this, meaning the press pushed a bogus story claiming Francis had condemned bogus stories.

Fake journalist Brian Williams, who was suspended from the NBC Nightly Newsanchor slot for reporting fake news and lost the job altogether — and is now relegated to an MSNBC position — slammed fake news on MSNBC on Thursday.

The Pope What?

Just saw this Drudge item.

Pope grants all priests power to forgive abortion...

Here's the deal.  R.C.  priests have, from day one, the power to forgive a penitent sinner of any and all confessed sin.  More to the point, in this case, if you're  not Catholic, who cares?  I have no interest in keeping up with pronouncements by, say, the Methodist Council of Bishops, because I'm not Methodist.  Nor would they be particularly interested in what Pope Francis has to say.  Oui?   So why do  the leftist secular press pay so much attention to this Pope's utterances?*

Simple.

If I'm a rat bastard abortion (the Left's holy sacrament) activist, I'm terrified that President Trump will make good his promise to defund Planned Parenthood.   So, using their peculiar calculus, Pope Francis can be made to look like he's saying, hey, this is okay.

Oh. This is a CNN story.  Case closed.

*Aside I have in the past reacted negatively to several of PF's  pronouncements.  I  later discovered that the English translation had, either by design, or  by purpose,  been  mischaracterized..

Tim Kaine "God approves of homosexuality."

a major award

Soon after Democratic vice-presidential candidate Tim Kaine suggested the Catholic Church would change on same-sex marriage, the Bishop of Richmond has said Catholic teaching on marriage is constant.

“More than a year after the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on marriage, and despite recent statements from the campaign trail, the Catholic Church’s 2000-year-old teaching to the truth about what constitutes marriage remains unchanged and resolute,”

Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo of Richmond said Sept. 13. “As Catholics, we believe all humans warrant dignity and deserve love and respect, and unjust discrimination is always wrong,” he said. “Our understanding of marriage, however, is a matter of justice and fidelity to our Creator’s original design.” Bishop DiLorenzo’s statement does not mention Kaine.

The former U.S. Senator is a parishioner at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in the Diocese of Richmond.  [Full]

[...] While the abortion lobby has showered Kaine with praise, several U.S. Catholic bishops have challenged Kaine’s claim to being a faithful Catholic by citing his open dissent from essential moral teachings of the Church.

In a Facebook post titled “VP Pick, Tim Kaine, a Catholic?” Bishop Thomas J. Tobin of Providence noted that Kaine “has been widely identified as a Roman Catholic” while at the same time “he publicly supports ‘freedom of choice’ for abortion, same-sex marriage, gay adoptions, and the ordination of women as priests.”

“All of these positions are clearly contrary to well-established Catholic teachings; all of them have been opposed by Pope Francis as well,” Tobin wrote, dashing the left’s spurious claim that Kaine is some kind of “Pope Francis Catholic.”

“Senator Kaine has said, ‘My faith is central to everything I do.’ But apparently, and unfortunately, his faith isn’t central to his public, political life,” Bishop Tobin concluded. [FULL]
There is a large gap between recognizing active homosexuality as a forgivable human frailty,  and "God approves of homosexuality."  Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo of Richmond might also consider  Sen. Kaine's  voting record on abortion. And then excommunicate him.

Pope channels Urban VI

    Liberal Culture

Pope Urban VI presided over a major schism in the Roman Catholic Church in 1378, which resulted in the emergence of parallel feuding papacies that lasted nearly four decades. Urban was supposedly prone to violent outbursts; later on, he caught wind of a conspiracy to depose him and had six cardinals arrested, tortured and ultimately executed. Legend has it he complained to the torturers that the cardinals' screams were not loud enough. The Church survived.

ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE (AP) -- Thrusting himself into the heated American presidential campaign, Pope Francis declared Thursday that Donald Trump is "not Christian" if he wants to address illegal immigration only by building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Trump fired back ferociously, saying it was "disgraceful" for a religious leader to question a person's faith.

And this from Pope Francis's Argentina:

Last week, a young Franciscana dolphin was killed on a beach in Argentina as a consequence of rough handling by throngs of eager tourists. The animal, along with another dolphin, had reportedly been yanked from the water so people could take photos.

Jim's Corpse

stuff I think about

Time and Space

Here's a story that Sister Edna, my 2nd grade teacher at St Francis Borgia, told us (to the best of my recollection).

One Sunday afternoon, Jim was struck dead in his basement workshop.  Heart attack.  At the Pearly Gates he was remanded to purgatory for one year, in penance for various venial sins.  Having had a taste of what it would be like to be in the presence of God, Jim was crushed beyond words at being  denied HIS glory for so long.  If only he had gone to confession yesterday!  Too late now.

Now, after what was certainly a period of 100 years, or more (certainly more than double the life he had lived on Earth) had passed, Jim was granted an appeal.  When he complained to St. Peter that a huge error had been made, St. Peter let Jim to see what was happening, in real time, back on Earth.  His wife Betty was just now standing over his body lying on his work shop floor.  She was sobbing while a rescue squad placed his corpse on a gurney.

So it was that we were introduced to time and space at a tender age.  I remember that when people attack the Genesis creation narrative.

Memo to Pope Francis

stuff I think about

I addressed this in January (Just My Opinion), and I stand by it. Or, more profanely.

THIS JUST IN -
  • Pope Francis Confesses He Knows Little about the Economy

In a striking series of admissions, Pope Francis told journalists on the flight back to Rome from Paraguay that he has an aversion to the economy, which he does not understand very well, and that he has neglected the middle class. On the plane, journalists asked the Pope his opinion of the economic situation in Greece and its relation to the rest of the European Union. Francis responded that he has “a great aversion” to the economy because his father was an accountant and used to bring his work home with him on the weekends. “I don’t understand it very...
