Baby On Board III

BOB III

Yes moms, an easily bored public no longer pay attention to your Baby-On-Board reminder to drivers—  "Please Don't Plough Into Me; BABY IS ON BOARD"  sign.  As a result,  death and injury levels skyrocketed.   The poorly received  BOB II  did naught to lower vehicular manslaughter rates (except in Pierre, SD).  In fact, insurance companies report  BOB II may have resulted in some mothers being pummeled  by drivers angered by the perceived  insensitivity and brutality.  They shan't easily ignore BOB III; and there is no blood displayed to raise hackles.

Design was overseen by Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius.   She wants to make them mandatory, with severe penalties for use by drivers with no actual baby on board.

The Silence of the Republican Candidates

The Taliban Are Really Pissed On!
Taliban Are Really Pissed On!

I was just poined to this Bill Kristol piece on the Taliban Pissers.  It exactly comports with my stated view, only luke-warmly supported.  Kristol once again becomes a great thinker, and patriot; this is the full article. /

The Silence of the Republican Candidates

Obama administration bigwigs are falling all over themselves to denounce, condemn, lament, and apologize for the unfortunate behavior of a few Marines in Afghanistan last year. Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta condemned the action as not just deplorable but “utterly deplorable.” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed not just dismay but “total dismay.”
The Silence of the Republican Candidates

Give me a break. More importantly, give our troops a break. Yes, the Marines who appear to have done what they did should be reprimanded or punished, as they would have been in the normal course of things once their deed came to light. I will even grant that some higher-ups might have felt it prudent to deplore what happened, based on realpolitik considerations of depriving our enemies of excuses to whip up sentiment against us in the region (though I’m doubtful the effort to do this isn’t more counterproductive than not). But the administration’s reaction is over the top. And it smells of cheap self-righteousness and moral posturing from an administration that, to be honest, hasn’t devoted a whole lot of time to thanking our troops for what they've been doing in very difficult and dangerous circumstances.

Maybe it was too much to expect senior officials to make the common sense points that 1) this incident is not something to get hysterical about, and 2) it needs to be put in the context of the admirable behavior of 99 percent of our troops 99 percent of the time. But aren't there Republicans around who might want to make this point? I gather, for example, that there are several people running for the Republican presidential nomination. Maybe one of them could say a good word about our troops?

If they need some reassurance as to where public opinion might be, they can take a look at the results of a poll on the website of, yes, the Washington Post. The question is, “What was your reaction to the video that appeared to show Marines urinating on three Afghan corpses?”

So far, with over 20,000 votes cast, here's how the responses break down:

It's an unacceptable desecration - 11 percent
It's an embarrassment - 7 percent
It's not surprising -- things like this happen in war - 82 percent

If only our political leaders were as sensible—and our Republican leaders as willing to express their opinion—as Washington Post readers!

Under an illusion ...

Illusions

It's hard to figure Jimmy Carter out.  Does he think Clinton relieved him of his "Worst ex-President Ever" title?  Or, Obama the "The Worst President?"   Did losing an election drive him insane, as it did Al Gore?  Or, is he just an anti-semitic, American hating corksucker?  A man of many such qualities, our Jummy.  Since he's not dead yet, Jummy continues to burnish that legacy; even treading on Ted Kennedy ground

Former President Carter meets with Muslim Brotherhood in Cairo

The chairman of Egypt’s new Freedom and Justice Party — a/k/a the Muslim Brotherhood — met last week with former U.S. President Jimmy Carter. The stated purpose of the meeting was the ongoing Egyptian transition process and the recent elections. Carter congratulated FJP chairman Mohamed Morsi on the parliamentary election results achieved by the party, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), noting there was international consensus to respect the results which reflect the Egyptian people’s choices, said a statement posted on the Muslim Brotherhood’s web site. “The former U.S. president called on the FJP to accommodate nascent and new parties of youth which have not achieved significant rates of victory in recent elections,” the web site stated.

President Carter is known for his enthusiasm for Islamist groups that takeover Middle Eastern and North African nations. He’s also known to curry favor with Islamic radicals, neo-Marxists and other enemies of the U.S. and Israel.

In fact, Carter angered the Israeli government and people when he compared Israel with South Africa during that nation’s Apartheid policy. [etc]

Any great thriller has a great villain.  What makes it great is the audience's anticipation of the baddie's demise.  If we 'mericans were a novel or a movie,  these last 50 years would be the greatest thriller of all times.  I can't wait for the spectacular ending that is our due. Or, I want my money back.

UPDATE

GET  PREPARED

This morning the Muslim Brotherhood warned that if the United States continued meddling in Egypt , Libya , and other  potential hot spots in the middle east, they intend to cut off America's supply of 7-11 and  Motel 6 managers.

If this action does not yield sufficient results, cab  drivers will be next, followed by Dell, AT&T and AOL customer service  reps.

Finally, if all else fails, they have threatened not to send us any more presidents either.

It's gonna get ugly people.

If Mr. Smith Went To Washington— Today

  • 12-year-old ChristianU2uber, whose video arguing same-sex marriage is morally wrong resulted in a stream of responses that called him a “fag in denial” and suggested he “kill Christianity, and then kill yourself.” The response was so vicious, WND reported, that Internet crime specialists in Texas tracked down the boy and his family and persuaded ChristianU2uber to remove the videos and receive counseling.
  • 14-year-old girl from Ventura County, Calif.  has been forced off the site by the cruelty she faced for protesting the admission of transgender boys into the Girl Scouts.
And this from the WSJ:

The Secrets of Tebow Hatred

It's easy to see why legions of loyalists lavish love on 24-year-old Tim Tebow, who leads his underdog Denver Broncos in a crucial playoff game against the New England Patriots on Saturday night. Yet other fiercely focused fans feel no hesitation at expressing their contempt and loathing for a remarkable athlete whose behavior on field and off exemplifies the values of hard work, fearlessness and concern for the downtrodden.

A popular website called TebowHaters.com serves as a clearinghouse for denunciations, while Jeff Darlington of NFL.com got a big response for a survey on what offended fans most about the Broncos quarterback. An Orlando, Fla., radio station (WJRR) used crude language promoting a public campaign to terminate Mr. Tebow's well-advertised virginity and to break his pledge to save himself for marriage. Bill Maher, acerbic tribune of "Real Time" on HBO, got into the holiday spirit last month by celebrating a Denver loss and tweeting: "Wow. Jesus just f---- #TimTebow bad! And on Xmas Eve!" Novelist and blogger Drew Magary proudly declares on the sports website Deadspin.com: "Not only is it OK to root against Tim Tebow, it's practically your duty as cynical Americans."

It is a cultural thing,  For me the acid test in these matters is—  if  Frank Capra were to make a movie about any of these three people, who would be the villain? The hero?  Which culture would moviegoers want to live in?  Tebow's, or one where the President of the United States gives a thumbs-up to an army of filthy, disease carrying anarchists?  KISS.

My first thoght was "Om my, another lot of people bosses with Sierra Clubber mentalities flexing their legislative muscles.  But no.  At least not primarily. It's TAX INCOME

Fisherman Ernie Foster said the legislators were missing the point. Fish are a public resource that anyone should be allowed to catch, not just those who are going to produce the most taxable dollars for the state.
[...]
Rep. Darrell McCormick, R-Yadkin ...  has estimated the new designation would increase economic activity in the state by billions of dollars. He and the CCA say the three species of fish are worth much more to the state recreationally than they are commercially. That’s because of tourism, as McCormick told Carolina Journal last summer
[...]
“The dock value of one red drum is about $1.50 a pound,” he said. “Its value to our state, as a recreational fish, is $300 a pound.”
[...]
Sen. Don East, R-Surry, took issue with McCormick’s economics. ... “Do you place a value on all those jobs that come along with the commercial fishing industry?” East asked. “The fish houses that have 25 or 30 people processing shrimp or other fish? Do you put a value on the fact that those jobs are feeding the family?”  [Full]

It all reminds me of Oliver Cromwell and his rump parliament. I can't really say why. Just something my inner-self feels.  *spit*

Well Done Sid.

But I Don't Feel So Good Judge

John Edwards has life-threatening heart condition

WYSIWYG
And he's still chasing them—

I must be excused of my cynicism over John Edwards court ordered trial delay.  The reason, according to the federal judge presiding, is John has a serious health problem. There is a cure apparently—  (BIDFSG)Jim Guy Tucker and Alan Cranston can attest to that. The Judge? I did win some money on that score.

On March 10, 2010 President Barack Obama nominated Catherine Eagles to a seat in the Middle District of North Carolina that came open when N. Carlton Tilley assumed senior status. Eagles had a hearing in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee on April 16, 2010 and her nomination was reported to the full Senate on May 6, 2010. The Senate approved her nomination on December 16, 2010, during the lame duck session of the 111th Congress.

The odds were 1 to 5 so I only won $200    [Story]

Montana Launches Baucus, Tester Recall

Montanans Launch Recall of Senators Baucus and Tester

Montana would be the first recall drive to be launched as a result of the vote for the NDAA military detentions provisions.

(HELENA) - Moving quickly on Christmas Day after the US Senate voted 86 - 14 to pass the National Defense Authorization Act of 2011 (NDAA) which allows for the indefinite military detention of American citizens without charge or trial, Montanans have announced the launch of recall campaigns against Senators Max Baucus and Jonathan Tester, who voted for the bill.

This is the way it ought be done. But, evidently Montana is one of (only?) nine states that allow the recall of members of its federal congressional delegation.  And this:

"New Jersey's federal recall law was struck down when a NJ state judge ruled that "the federal Constitution does not allow states the power to recall U.S. senators," despite the fact the Constitution explicitly allows, by not disallowing ("prohibited" in the Tenth Amendment,) the states the power to recall US senators and congressmen."

The good old Jersey court system.

Red-Wine Researcher Charged With 'Photoshop' Fraud
Dipak K. Das

A University of Connecticut researcher known for touting the health benefits of red wine is guilty of 145 counts offabricating and falsifying data with image-editing software, according to a 3-year university investigation made public Wednesday.

The researcher, Dipak K. Das, PhD, is a director of the university's Cardiovascular Research Center (CRC) and a professor in the Department of Surgery. The university stated in a press release thatit has frozen all externally funded research in Dr. Das's lab and turned down $890,000 in federal research grants awarded to him. The process to dismiss Dr. Das from the university is already underway, the university added.

Dr. Das replied in response:
"I became the Devil for the Health Center, and so did all the Indians working for me ... The evidence for conspiracy and racial hatred is overwhelming."

"As Maine goes. so goes the nation"

       WHAT GUMMINT DOES

                   Welfare recipients outnumber taxpayers
That's the situation Maine faces, and likely other states as well

Su casha, Mi casha

Paul LePage, the Republican governor of Maine, mentioned an uncomfortable truth in a radio address this month: Maine has more welfare recipients than income tax payers.

Democrats challenged the accuracy of this assertion.

The Bangor Daily News fact-checked LePage and discovered that 445,074 Mainers paid state income tax,  while 453,194 received some sort of state aid.

In Maine, Medicaid, welfare, food stamps and subsidies for education have a combined enrollment of 660,000.  [Full]

I like the part where Democrats challenged the report. Like someone had called their children bastards (which I reckon is how they see it).  The best way to attack this unsustainable way of life is to make it a joke, like these actual welfare application statements.
