Deconstructing the Lie of TWA 800 [SNIP] From the outset, Mr. Cashill expertly destroys the myth that a cover-up and conspiracy involving TWA Flight 800 to prevent the truth from being known would take too many people to accomplish. This is a situation that has continued inside and outside of the beltway and one that has been reinvigorated and reinforced for the upcoming 2016 election. The astute reader and honest investigative journalist will be able to see the emergence of a familiar strategy of information containment and political damage control orchestrated by the “Clinton cabal,” past and present. In this and numerous other situations potentially damaging to the political aspirations and ambitions of these serial liars and their abettors, their behavioral profile becomes clear. Tactics employed on the night of July 17, 1996, did not begin then, but much earlier. Nor have they stopped, but continue today. Having a compliant infrastructure already in place and a captured media ready to direct an already fatigued public away from the truth, including a certain few ‘investigative journalists’ to give the false appearance of honesty, inconvenient truths can be more easily contained and managed. Under the pretext of exposing scandalous activity, the public’s attention can be diverted away from far more serious criminal actions. It’s an effective strategy used by the media, and a comfortably profitable enterprise for certain journalists and pundits willing to compromise truth for the warm glow of the spotlight, however fleeting. To them, the lives of the victims be damned, along with the truth. Additionally, and even more telling, the footage captured the activities of a FBI agent trying to flatten out a piece of metal with a hammer. Shaping the narrative, perhaps literally. In all such instances, it is obvious that the objective was to remove or change the evidence to better fit the official account of the Clinton White House. Then there are the career politicians and agency heads placed in certain key political, intelligence and even military positions. Their tactics of containing the truth and misdirecting the public becomes even easier, especially if convinced that perpetuating a lie is not merely a matter of loyalty, but an issue of national security. Ending the careers of those who see through the charade or who are unwilling to assist becomes blood sport, while those who agree to play are handsomely rewarded.  If this operational strategy sounds familiar, it should. We have seen Hillary Clinton use the same tactics in her position as Secretary of State as she dealt with the loss of life in Benghazi and her continually troublesome e-mails. Previously, it was Whitewater, the strange death of Vince Foster, Travelgate, et al. Again, the operational strategy is from the same playbook, the same set of plays, and in some cases, the same players today, some twenty years after TWA 800. How many times have official accounts and video reconstruction of a plane crash been tasked to the CIA?

WHAT THIS GUMMINT DOES

As previously mentioned, I find Smithsonian's "Air Disasters" series compelling. Very.  I just watched VANISHED.  An Airbus A330, traveling from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, vanished somewhere over the Atlantic. After two years of scouring the ocean floor they finally recover the two black boxes and discover the reason.  Ice crystals temporarily clogged the device that measures air speed.  A common occurrence that will self correct in about a minute if level flight is maintained.  However, the Auto Pilot is automatically disengaged with an audible warning,  What happened was that the experienced head plilot had taken a sleep brake, leaving two "2nd officers" in charge.  When the alarm sounded, one pulled back on the yoke to gain altitude which, in the rarefied air at 35,000 feet put the plane into a stall.  Duh. The pilots, instead of nosing down to gain airspeed and lift,  kept it nose high while it fell 13,000 ft/min, kerplunk.  The reason?   Air France pilots had grown so used to the Auto Pilot that they had not been trained on manual flight in this event.  I am not making this up.  Another reason I so love this series is that every episode is solved using using data.  Blame is put without fear of embarrassing any person, company, or manufacturer. And guess what?  So far not a single crash investigation has been performed by the FBI, with the final report produced by the CIA!  So I checked.  Sigh.  TWA 800, has so far been ignored.

Keeping to the spirit of Death Penalty Month, let's review the execution of Pvt. Eddie Slovik. Slovik's offense: desertion in wartime. (See the tie-in?) Unlike Bowe Bergdahl, who deserted his unit, according to the accounts of his comrades, Slovik never actually deserted. He also didn't call America a "disgusting" country or say he was "ashamed to be an American." Slovik was just a chicken. In October 1944, as Allied forces were sweeping through France, Slovik left his position on the front lines, walked to the rear of his unit and handed a note to the cook, confessing his desertion. The letter explained that he was "so scared" that he had already abandoned his unit once, and concluded: "AND I'LL RUN AWAY AGAIN IF I HAVE TO GO OUT THERE." Slovik was like Bradley Manning minus the lipstick and eyeliner. A lieutenant, a company commander and a judge advocate all tried to persuade Slovik to shred the letter and return to his unit, warning him that he'd be tried for desertion otherwise. Slovik refused. In the middle of World War II, the military court-martialed Slovik, tried him and sentenced him to death. Allied Supreme Commander Dwight Eisenhower denied Slovik's pardon request, saying it would encourage more desertions, just as the fighting was getting especially hot. Slovik was executed by firing squad and buried among the numbered graves of court-martialed rapists and murderers in an American military cemetery in France. Contrast Slovik's story with the beloved troop whose return just cost us the release of five of the most dangerous terrorists in the world. Three days before he walked off his base, Bergdahl emailed his parents: -- "I am ashamed to be an american." -- "The US army is the biggest joke ... It is the army of liars, backstabbers, fools and bullies." -- "These people need help, yet what they get is the most conceited country in the world telling them that they are nothing and that they are stupid." -- "The horror that is america is disgusting."
