When you let Hitler drive,
he can take you wherever the hell he wants.

As America’s road planners struggle to find the cash to mend a crumbling highway system, many are beginning to see a solution in a little black box that fits neatly by the dashboard of your car.
The devices, which track every mile a motorist drives and transmit that information to bureaucrats, are at the center of a controversial attempt in Washington and state planning offices to overhaul the outdated system for funding America’s major roads.
The usually dull arena of highway planning has suddenly spawned intense debate and colorful alliances. Libertarians have joined environmental groups in lobbying to allow government to use the little boxes to keep track of the miles you drive, and possibly where you drive them — (as long as dope is legalized?)

The price of Obamacare

                      croak

IRS: Cheapest Obamacare Plan Will Be $20,000 Per Family

Res Ipsa Loquitor

The most grotesque thing about the recent announcement of what Obamacare will cost to purchase is not that the annual national average bronze plan(cheapest) premium for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) is $20,000; nor is it that the annual tax  penalty Americans must pay if they fail to obey Obamacare's mandate is, in this instance, about $2000!  No, the most grotesque and frightening thing is the the IRS made the announcement, and is setting the fees.

The good old friendly IRS.  The agency that has the same powers to interrogate suspects, and punish with internment in a gulag or stalag, as did Stalin's KGB, or Hitler's SS, is running the show.  The IRS is the Death Panel.   Overly histrionic? I think not.

The pisser is, if I'm understanding this (AND WHO THE HELL KNOWS IF I AM NOT?), that nobody can afford to, or wants to pay $20,000+ a year to buy this monstrosity.  So,  the penalty money is what Obama plans to use to pay for the 50+ percent of residents (not necessarily citizens) who will be added (entitled) to Obamacare rolls at no charge.  And even that won't be enough money!

Despite what dreamworlders like George Will (who correctly calls this a "time bomb" think, this is not going to lead to the abolition of Obamacare. Never in history have government killed a bad idea; they just keep tinkering with it until one day they discover some
unobtainium that shut people up, and then call it a success (see Social Security, Medicare, Barney Frank).

The Evil RKOF in me enjoys the thought of forthcoming agonizing by people (useful idiots) who voted for this government, and will now be reduced by it to government serfdom, or, if they're lucky, hated pig overseers.  The Good Rodge weeps for all Americans.

More snitch requests

After four years of Obama, I pretty much have the same distrust of government as do survivors of Eastern bloc communism.  Especially requests like these, from a government with a penchant to monitor our every movement.

The French who earlier announced they are considering replacing "mom and Dad" with  ‘Parent 1’ and ‘parent 2’ have run amok.  Rationale for president Francois Hollande's No Homework promise is that  it encourages "inequality" as homework apparently "favors the wealthy."

Hoallande also wants to implement energy laws so complicated that  I'll leave them for you to sort. When implemented (France's communist party has demanded changes) will:

" ... ultimately achieve is to collapse revenue at the private (for now) corporations that actually provide electricity, leading to more unemployment, less corporate tax revenues, and ultimate even higher prices passed through in different ways. Oh, and a higher deficit for France, as a result of both declining tax revenue, and higher spending which will be needed to subsidize both the public and eventually private sector, once the energy companies start defaulting left and right."

On topic, our lame-duck president looks to plant more land mines before he's sent back to Kenya.

Interior Dept. creates climate change committee

The Obama administration is creating an advisory committee on climate change to advise the federal government on future operations.

The Interior Department announced the new bureaucracy in a recent federal registry notice along with a call for nominations by Nov. 19 to seat the 25-member board.

The notice specifically states membership will be comprised of state and local government employees, non-governmental organizations, Native American tribes, academia, individual landowners and business interests.

Helpless, Useless Takers v. The United States

"Brutal new Obama ad features Mitt Romney and the 47 percenters" WaPost

Res Ipsa LoquitorI spent Sunday watching football, which means I saw this video about 60 times.  What am I missing?

Every time I saw it,  I found myself loving Romney even more. Well, loving him. I mean, he's talking about how 47% of the nation  are government dependents.  Even if you are a - damn, I forgot what Helly called them—again—(the note I made is missing). Even if you are a slave to the Nanny State, a willing frog in a boiling pot, it's not something you want to admit.  So who is Obama targeting with this commercial?  A bunch of people who got free cell phones, that's who.  Who identifies with them?  Romney's right;  he will never get their vote, which is why everyone else admires his stance.  Right?  What am I missing?

Do you think it's really as bad as 47 per cent?  Mother of God.

THE YEAR WAS 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren't only equal before God and the law. They were equal every which way. Res Ipsa LoquitorNobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else. All this equality was due to the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution, and to the unceasing vigilance of agents of the United States Handicapper General.

Some things about living still weren't quite right, though. April for instance, still drove people crazy by not being springtime. And it was in that clammy month that the H-G men took George and Hazel Bergeron's fourteen-year-old son, Harrison, away.

It was tragic, all right, but George and Hazel couldn't think about it very hard. Hazel had a perfectly average intelligence, which meant she couldn't think about anything except in short bursts. And George, while his intelligence was way above normal, had a little mental handicap radio in his ear. He was required by law to wear it at all times. It was tuned to a government transmitter. Every twenty seconds or so, the transmitter would send out some sharp noise to keep people like George from taking unfair advantage of their brains.

George and Hazel were watching television. There were tears on Hazel's cheeks, but she'd forgotten for the moment what they were about.

On the television screen were ballerinas.

A buzzer sounded in George's head. His thoughts fled in panic, like bandits from a burglar alarm.

"That was a real pretty dance, that dance they just did," said Hazel.

"Huh" said George.

"That dance-it was nice," said Hazel.

You can watch the loosely adapted full movie here, or read it here, or read some of it, and do the homework here.  Then you decide (if you haven't already).

The sign [ promoting the bar's “Marion Berry’s Dirty Asian Summer Punch.”] was removed Friday after a city agency threatened to drag Tomelden before the D.C. Commission on Human Rights in a rare display of the city’s little-known power to regulate speech in places of public accommodation.

Little known power ?  I have to imagine (with a good deal of hope) that even our dysfunctional Supreme Court would invoke the very well known First Amendment  guaranteeing free speech in this case.

the “Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act,” which was signed into law on Dec. 13, 2010.  The act subsidizes and regulates what children eat before school, at lunch, after school, and during summer vacations in federally funded school-based feeding programs.

It also, for the first time, gives the federal government the authority to regulate the food sold at local schools, including in vending machines.

During the signing ceremony for the law, Mrs. Obama said the federal government has a responsibility for what children eat at school.  “When our kids spend so much of their time each day in school, and when many children get up to half their daily calories from school meals, it’s clear that we as a nation have a responsibility to meet as well,” she said [I am not making this up]

The Enemy President

                                Ribbiting with Chef  Obama

via cuzzin ricky

Following up yesterday, Judge  Napolitano  posed some troubling what-ifs? (What If the Government Rejects the Constitution?)

  • What if the government regards the Constitution as merely a guideline to be referred to from time to time, or a myth to be foisted upon the voters ...
  • What if both political parties love power more than freedom? What if both parties have used the Commerce Clause in the Constitution to stretch the power of the federal government far beyond its constitutionally ordained boundaries and well beyond the plain meaning of words? ...
  • What if Congress bribed the states with cash in return for their enacting legislation that Congress likes, but cannot lawfully enact? What if Congress went to all states in the union and offered them cash to repave their interstate highways, if the states only lowered their speed limits? What if the states took that deal? ...

Which further  begs,  "what if we had a president who didn't bother to make  pretense of observing limits to his constitutional powers, and was prepared to do whatever it takes to achieve some mission in the full knowledge that  the vaunted "watch dog"  news media, with their abiding hatred of  conservatism,  would  cover for him  in knee-jerk fashion?

The gummint that drones you, owns you

Let's see.  Surveillance cameras in the work place, on every street corner, at every traffic light, on every roadway, and now we have gummint drones to contend with.  The same drones employed to find and kill al-Qaedas and Talibans, but not stop illegal entry into our country.

Let's keep this simple.  Should the good citizen shoot them down?   Make it a national sport, with merit badges, trophies and celebrity awarded?  There are after all no good surveillance cams in a free nation.  If you're on the jury who decides Rodney Brossart's case, you may want to acquit.   (Note, this is not my idea. I was forced to do it by the freedom surveillance chip in my brain.  I am against anything that is illegal, so check local codes.  Of course.)

Gummint Recipe For Frog Stew

Some Guy I know writes

Be sure to read the Tax List at the end.

This is about as clear and easy to understand as it can be.. The article below is completely neutral, neither anti-republican or democrat. Charlie Reese, a soon-to-be- retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinel, has hit the nail directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must assume responsibility for the judgments made that impact each one of us every day. It's a short but good read. Worth the time. Worth remembering!

545 vs. 300,000,000 People - By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

[....]

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.

If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it's because they want them in  Iraq and Afghanistan ...

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they  alone, are responsible. [Full]

The lunch Zambrano packed for her daughter? A cheese and salami sandwich on a wheat bun with apple juice. The lunch she got in the cafeteria? Chicken nuggets, a sweet potato, bread and milk.

It is entirely fair to say that  North Carolinians forget that state government work for them.  Else boots would have hit the ground after the first instance was reported.  To put it in perspective, how would any of them respond after finding that rats had nested in their home?
