The United States "Brutal new Obama ad features Mitt Romney and the 47 percenters" WaPost I spent Sunday watching football, which means I saw this video about 60 times.  What am I missing?   Every time I saw it,  I found myself loving Romney even more. Well, loving him. I mean, he's talking about how 47% of the nation  are government dependents.  Even if you are a - damn, I forgot what Helly called them—again—(the note I made is missing). Even if you are a slave to the Nanny State, a willing frog in a boiling pot, it's not something you want to admit.  So who is Obama targeting with this commercial?  A bunch of people who got free cell phones, that's who.  Who identifies with them?  Romney's right;  he will never get their vote, which is why everyone else admires his stance.  Right?  What am I missing?  Do you think it's really as bad as 47 per cent?  Mother of God.

Asked for specific budget cuts, Romney listed “the subsidy for PBS, the subsidy for Amtrak, the subsidy for the National Endowment for the Arts” and “the subsidy for the National Endowment for the Humanities.” [Full wonderfullness] Okay. I'm beginning to want to have Mitt's baby. If he follows through,  he would  immediately  serve notice that he means business, unlike the prior 563 Republicans who promised the same thing.    ”

Pro-Mitt Argument of the Day (REDUX) “ I’d just ask you to keep four things in mind: Justice Scalia just turned 78, Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year, Justice Breyer will be 76 in August, and Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago. In addition, Justice Ginsburg has Pancreatic Cancer. Justice Stephens has already said he would retire and is just waiting for Obama to be reelected. The next president could appoint as many as 4 new Justices over next 8 years. This election is about more than ObamaCare Tax.   We wish them all well, of course, but the brute fact is that whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court — in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come. If you don’t think it matters whether the guy making those calls is Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, I think you’re smokin’ something funky. Which brings us back to Colonel Travis’s point. The Supremes are about to hear the huge health-care case. How worried would you be about it if we had a Supreme Court whose last two justices, instead of being Sotomayor and Kagan, had been chosen by a guy getting advice from Bob Bork — by a guy beholden to the same conservatives whose near-mutiny forced President Bush to appoint Justice Sam Alito? ” That, from a March 23 NRO column, resonates more now than ever. BTW, cuzzin ricky added a fifth reason to keep in mind— Justice Eric Holder. But, even if Romney is elected with landslide numbers, and Republicans take the Senate, there's still reason to worry.  Ginsburg has already survived pancreatic cancer longer than any human in history, and Stephens could very likely resign Wednesday, November 7, giving Obummer  the opprtunity to remake the court in his image.  Oh, bummer.

Shades of Mad Man Muntz - without the Savvy Back in the late ‘90s, when tech stocks were flying high, JDS Uniphase capped out at $1,227 a share, giving it a bigger market cap than both Cisco Systems and Intel  have today. But then the bubble burst, taking JDSU down 99.8% and changing its name on Wall Street from “Just Don’t Sell Us” to “Just Don’t Sue Us.” [The Curious Case of JDS Uniphase] I picked this JDSU item because, for me, it defines CNBC's Jim Cramer. He   appeared regularly on Fox & Friends back then.  I can still hear him touting "Just Don’t Sell Us" like he was getting a commission on it (ahem).  Then— Jim Cramer endorsed,  and proudly voted for Obummer in 2008. Then—  In 2009 he appeared on the Daily Show,  groveling before smarmy host Jon Stewart— then on a rant about CNBC's Rick Santelli's Teaparty founding rant (about Obama's carelessness with taxpayer money).  Kramer wagged his tail and agreed that Santelli acted foolishly, and he thought it scandalous.. It's fair then to say that Jim Kramer would be welcome at any Obama White House dinner, Oui?  So, shades of  Erskine Bowles: segue 2007 "[W]hile he hasn’t talked a lot about his thoughts on this year’s presidential election, [Cramer did lay out the case for Romney during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Hardball” on June 1, 2007. 'Can I just tell you something right now — I interviewed with Romney,' Cramer said. 'He tried to hire me in 1984. Why do people now say well, ‘I don’t want to have a Mormon as president?’ I never even thought of him as a Mormon. He is like the best businessman in North America. Democrats said so. Ryan is the author of a Medicare reform plan that Democrats insist would “end Medicare as we know it.” That’s their mantra. Mitt Romney, who picked Ryan as his vice presidential running mate last week, has a similar plan of his own. Moving quickly, the Romney campaign packaged that two-step response into a crisp, 30-second TV ad that began being aired yesterday.  The campaign plans a large buy with the ad, particularly in swing states. I'd like to think that Romney-Ryan "set a trap," as do the Weekly Standard, but I suspect it was a case of the Obama campaign ( probably the most inept, tone-deaf campaign in history)    being guilty of reckless driving.  Nevertheless, the ad is brilliant, and hooray for them for running it.  I don't think McCain would have. ”
