.... For Having a Bible on His Desk!

When Liberals are in charge

Have we really drifted so deeply into the madness of political correctness that the mere sight of a Bible on someone’s desk can cause an investigation? It sure looks that way. ... Trump is America’s last hope to reverse this insanity which seems to spread daily.

obama poop

We call this poop Obamunism

One of the hallmarks of the Obama administration has been the total corruption of the executive branch to serve Obama’s political agenda and interests. It doesn’t matter if innocent Mexicans and US Border Patrol agents are killed if gun control legislation can be expanded. US law can be flouted by the IRS to punish Obama opponents. Federal judges can be ignored to create a base of illegal aliens with documentation so large and diffuse that the damage can’t be undone. So is should come as no surprise that the men and women Obama has seen permanently ensconced in the Federal judiciary should have the same operating philosophy. [Wife of Obama-bundler judge, William Orrick III, is a pro-abort activist]

Yes, we live in a Kafkaesque time loop where poop cannot be wiped away.  We call that poop Obamunism.

Wages of Liberalism- Harrison Bergeron

“
Harrison Bergeron

2081 Universal Absurdity by crydixxx

A short film adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut's Harrison Bergeron, 2081 depicts a dystopian Obamunist future in which, thanks to the 212th Amendment to the Constitution and the unceasing vigilance of the United States Handicapper General, everyone is "finally equal...." The strong wear weights, the beautiful wear masks and the intelligent wear earpieces that fire off loud noises to keep them from taking unfair advantage of their brains. It is a poetic tale of triumph and tragedy about a broken family, a brutal government, and an act of defiance that changes everything. Featuring an original score performed by the world-renowned Kronos Quartet (Requiem for a Dream) and narration by Academy Award Nominee Patricia Clarkson (Far From Heaven, Goodnight and Good Luck), 2081 stars James Cosmo (Braveheart, Trainspotting), Julie Hagerty (Airplane!, What About Bob?) and Armie Hammer (The Social Network).

Professor Otis Madison: Enemy of the United States

More Outrage Upon Which We Shall Not Put UP!

“ Santa Barbara Prof Warns Ted Cruz-Teabaggers To Leave Class Or Go Home In Body Bag

Alice Gilbert can vividly recall her first day of class last fall in a black studies course called “The Obama Phenomenon” offered by Professor Otis Madison at UC Santa Barbara.

That’s because before his introductory lecture was over, the scholar “warned Ted Cruz-supporting ‘teabaggers’ to get the hell out of his classroom before he sent them home to their mother in a body bag,” Gilbert said in an email interview with The College Fix.

“The comment is from memory, however there were other students with me in the class who can attest to them,” Gilbert said. “When Professor Madison made his comments in the very first lecture, I was taken aback and offended.”

Gilbert said as a conservative student, she enrolled in the course to broaden her horizons and learn about the president from a perspective other than what she is normally exposed to, but dropped it after Madison’s remarks.

She never complained to administrators.

“He did not target me by name, so I did not feel that there was a lot the school could do based on a student just being offended by something said in class,” said Gilbert, a junior and statewide College Republican student leader.

Gilbert is telling her story now as part of the new social media campaign #MyLiberalCampus, in which students post anecdotal evidence describing when their conservative beliefs have been disregarded or denigrated by professors or peers.

The effort, launched by the College Republican National Committee, strives to highlight the discrimination and intolerance conservative students face everyday on campuses nationwide. So far, more than 350,000 people have engaged in the conversation.

This Just In - WE ARE KULAKS

OBAMUNISM, The Party,
Still think "It can't happen here"?

“

'We are now seeing the Obama regime, growing bolder every day, begin to more aggressively demonize "the rich" (which they currently define as anyone making over $125k, as opposed to the wealthy Hollywood-types and others who support the regime and are never demonized).

Is this so different from the way the Soviets demonized the kulaks? The word means "tight-fisted", and was loosely defined as any farmer who had more land or more cows than his neighbors. Such farmers were "enemies of the state" because they resisted the agenda of collectivization.

... the Cossacks as such were exterminated, the men shot, the women, children, and the elderly deported, and the villages razed or handed over to new, non-Cossack occupants.

I'm sure that one of Obama's heroes, Robert Mugabe, had this definition in mind in his "redistribution" plan for Zimbabwe, in which the former Rhodesia, once "the breadbasket of Africa", was transformed into a basket-case. (See my AT piece, "Why Not  Zimbabwe?", http://www.americanthinker.com/2013/06/why_not_zimbabwe.html)

But for our current Marxist/Leninist (and every day more Stalinist) regime, the definition of kulak can expand from its agricultural origin to encompass anyone who has more than his neighbor; anyone who presents too glaring an example of "income inequality". What would merely be "upper middle class" now becomes "rich", and is vilified.

As you read the material below, substitute "the rich" (as referred to by Obama & Co.) for "kulaks". And see what the future may hold if our Communist regime follows the strategy and tactics of so many other Communist regimes.

Here are some excerpts from the following:  http://tinyurl.com/lu2tk33 (The Black Book of Communism)

I have re-paragraphed it to make it easier to read. And I've added emphasis in red.

'Still think "It can't happen here"?

Andre Frossard […] believes that “it is a crime against humanity when someone is put to death purely by virtue of his or her birth.” And in his short but magnificent novel Forever Flowing, Vasily Grossman says of his hero, Ivan Grigorevich, who has returned from the camps, “he had remained exactly what he had been from his birth: a human being.”

That, of course, was precisely why he was singled out in the first place. The French definition helps remind us that genocide comes in many shapes and sizes – it can be racial (as in the case of the Jews), but it can also target social groups.

In The Red Terror in Russia, published in Berlin in 1924, the Russian historian and socialist Sergei Melgunov cited Martin Latsis, one of the first leaders of the Cheka (the Soviet political police), as giving the following order on 1 November 1918 to his henchmen:

“We don’t make war against any people in particular. We are exterminating the bourgeoisie as a class. In your investigations don’t look for documents and pieces of evidence about what the defendant has done, whether in deed or in speaking or acting against Soviet authority. The first question you should ask him is what class he comes from, what are his roots, his education, his training, and his occupation.”

Lenin and his comrades initially found themselves embroiled in a merciless “class war,” in which political and ideological adversaries, as well as the more recalcitrant members of the general public, were branded as enemies and marked for destruction. The Bolsheviks had decided to eliminate, by legal and physical means, any challenge or resistance, even if passive, to their absolute power.

This strategy applied not only to groups with opposing political views, but also to such social groups as the nobility, the middle class, the intelligentsia, and the clergy, as well as professional groups such as military officers and the police. Sometimes the Bolsheviks subjected these people to genocide. The policy of “de-Cossackization” begun in 1920 corresponds largely to our definition of genocide: a population group firmly established in a particular territory, the Cossacks as such were exterminated, the men shot, the women, children, and the elderly deported, and the villages razed or handed over to new, non-Cossack occupants.

Lenin compared the Cossacks to the Vendee during the French Revolution and gladly subjected them to a program of what Gracchus Babeuf, the “inventor” of modern Communism, characterized in 1795 as “populicide.”

The “dekulakization” of 1930-1932 repeated the policy of “de-Cossackization” but on a much grander scale. Its primary objective, in accordance with the official order issued for this operation (and the regime’s propaganda), was “to exterminate the kulaks as a class.”

The kulaks who resisted collectivization were shot, and the others were deported with their wives, children, and elderly family members. Although not all kulaks were exterminated directly, sentences of forced labor in wilderness areas of Siberia or the far north left them with scant chance of survival. Several tens of thousands perished there; the exact number of victims remains unknown. As for the great famine in Ukraine in 1932-33, which resulted from the rural population’s resistance to forced collectivization, 6 million died in a period of several months.

Here, the genocide of a “class” may well be tantamount to the genocide of a “race” – the deliberate starvation of a child of a Ukrainian kulak as a result of the famine caused by Stalin’s regime “is equal to” the starvation of a Jewish child in the Warsaw ghetto as a result of the famine caused by the Nazi regime.

Such arguments in no way detract from the unique nature of Auschwitz – the mobilization of leading-edge technological resources and their use in an “industrial process” involving the construction of an “extermination factory,” the use of gas, and cremation. However, this argument highlights one particular feature of many Communist regimes – their systematic use of famine as a weapon. The regime aimed to control the total available food supply and, with immense ingenuity, to distribute food purely on the basis of “merits” and “demerits” earned by individuals.

This policy was a recipe for creating famine on a massive scale. Remember that in the period after 1918, only Communist countries experienced such famines, which led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands, and in some cases millions, of people. And again in the 1980s, two African countries that claimed to be Marxist-Leninist, Ethiopia and Mozambique, were the only such countries to suffer these deadly famines.

Vonnegut Wherefore?

about government-mandated absolute equality

“

Some strange doings in my head this morning.  Stranger than usual anyway.  While shoveling new snow so MoSup can go to Mass, I thought of Kurt Vonnegut.  Out of the blue.

I loved the  movie  adapted from his  Slaughterhouse Five, but it was Harrison Bergeron that cemented the idea into my head that Vonnegut was a visionary; someone who could  recognize and extrapolate consequences from emerging tyrannies.   I was quite jolted then by
his celebrated-by-the-left quote ..

"The only difference between Hitler and Bush is that Hitler was elected."

And another celebrated by the left quote

"Our president is a Christian? So was Adolf Hitler."

If Vonnegut was who I thought he was, it meant that I was wrong.  Despite all evidence to the contrary, Al Gore was the rightful 43rd President of the United States. Bush was the liar; not Gore. Bush and Hitler were good Christians and bad men.  If a Bush agent hadn't killed him by pushing him down the stairs in 2007, what would he be writing today about Obamunism?  Could he, would he,  overcome his biases and see the truth of Obama?  I suspect not, or not until events made it inescapable, and then who would care?

The year was 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren't only equal before God and the law. They were equal every which way. Nobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else. All this equality was due to the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution, and to the unceasing vigilance of agents of the United States Handicapper General. —From " Harrison Bergeron " (1961), a short story by Kurt Vonnegut
What of George Orwell?  He wrote of his participation in the Spanish civil war, "I have seen wonderful things and at last really believe in Socialism, which I never did before."  Then he wrote  Animal Farm. and  Nineteen Eighty-Four.  It's true that he hated Stalin, but died believing still in the promise of The State.

What novel would he write about  Obamunism?  Or was that novel Animal Farm II?

I was well into writing this when I discovered that Bret Stephens (Kurt Vonnegut's State of the Union) was channeling me in an article Updating a story about government-mandated absolute equality. Will Hollywood make this movie?

Ann Coulter Agonistes

In written history, let the term linchpin,
that allowed Obama to bring
the United States
to it's knees, be on Al Franken's head.

"Al Franken's Senate seat is another one that should be on Republicans' radar. He stole the 2008 election in Minnesota, going from a thousand votes down the day after the election to 300 votes up a few months later, after vast numbers of Franken votes kept being discovered in heavily Democratic districts. As economist John Lott pointed out at the time, the magically appearing votes for Franken were a statistical impossibility.

Obamacare could not have passed without the Democrats' prodigious vote theft in Franken's 2008 election."-Ann Coulter

Ann continues that thought with this churlishness, however—

" But if the Republican candidate had won, some conservatives would now be trying to take out moderate Republican Norm Coleman for being a "RINO." The far-left Democrat won, so conservatives can't be bothered to find someone to beat him."

In fact, the point of her article is a condemnation of teaparty "purists."   Ann, it seems, has found room for accommodation in her own principles.  She wrote an entire book exposing the wrong done to the left's official bogyman, Sen. Joe McCarthy,  but then labeled, as "birthers," those of us who,  properly still,  demand to know why the President keeps issuing counterfeit birth certificates?  Would I be churlish to note that this change in Ann seems to have occurred simultaneous with  the emergence of Sarah Palin as spokesman for conservatives?   Sarah, who dissed the likes of Chris Christie, even as Ann was calling him her dream President?  As for me,  I still acknowledge Ann's ability for brilliant insight, and delicious rhetoric,  but I wonder if she still believes that there's no right way to do the  wrong thing?  She did, once.

More Outrage Upon Which We Shall Not Put !

Every weekend I'm mind-pestered by outrageous news that I noted, but never got around to commenting on.  Here's this week's outrages upon which I will not put!

It's a hands down given  that the next Pacific naval war will be fought against China.  So what have the  Obamas done?  That's right; invited the Chi-Coms to participate in a naval exercise  held ostensibly to practice deep-sixing  their fleet.  Can you spel D-U-H? And,  even the LA Times got this right.

Marines at Camp Leatherneck in Afghanistan will lose a key daily meal starting Saturday, causing some to forgo a hot breakfast and others to work six-plus hours without refueling on cooked food, according to Marines at the base and Marine Corps officials.

Are you kidding? What's the first thing that came to your mind?   Was it  THIS? That's right!

Finally, and this was not on my original list,  I noticed that he LAT's editorial cartoonist is Ted Rall.  TED-Freaking-Rall/  Here's some of Rall's work I clipped after 9/11.  Small wonder then that  Times thinks that enforcing the Federal immigation kaws makes you a loose cannon.   Enough said.

From them what have cake to them what wants cake

OBAMUNISM, The Party,
Let Them Eat Cake - It's Free

Raja,

President Obama has stated, over the last year and a half, that “I believe that this country succeeds when everyone gets a fair shot, when everyone does their fair share, when everyone plays by the same rules.”

Res Ipsa LoquitorRadio talker Barry Farber pointed out that “everyone gets a fair shot" and "everyone does their fair share", is just a restatement of Karl Marx: "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need."

Some people need more than that to understand that President Obama is a communist. Well, try this on for size: You remember the Marxist means of negotiation, Dialectical Materialism. Thesis, anti-thesis, synthesis. Sounds very fair, though carried out to the lengths reds do, it means each time we have moved the center of the playing field, we look at it again, and sonofagun, we get more. Then we do it again, and we get more. Etc.

I can’t count how many times we have heard Obama call for a “balanced” approach to the economy, and how if the Republicans would just add some revenue, taxes, we would be fine. But then, at the fiscal cliff, the Republicans DID add taxes, and what happened? Immediately, through this very day, Obama calls for a balanced approach, and won’t the Republicans meet us half way by raising taxes? Again? Thesis, anti-thesis, synthesis. The dialectic never ends!

Just remember, to a communist, what's his is his. What's yours is negotiable.

Res Ipsa LoquitorI started watching 'The Last Enemy' last week.  Watched the first episode,  and got as far as Matthew Good's intro to episode two, and stopped.  I mean what the hell, we're living this.  It's where we're at right now.  To put a finer point on it, listen to the episode four intro (I began watching again last night).

As a commenter below mentions, it gets a bit slow at times. The protagonist in played by Benedict Cumberbatch,  who also plays Sherlock Holmes in SHERLOCK, which I immensely enjoy.  Here's episode one;  the other four full episodes are also available on You Tube.

As an aside, Headhunters is Swedish subtitled, but so were the "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" movies.  Headhunters is equally gripping.  Trust me.

Was the attack on Benghazi an "October Surprise" gone bad?

Friday, October 19, 2012 11:09:15 AM · by Jeff Head
JEFFHEAD.COM ^ | 19 October 2012 | Jeff Head

This Free Republic post intrigued me.  What "October surprise" would have come with success?   Mr. JeffHead's article doesn't answer the question, nor seem even to attempt to.  Still, this observation seems to me quite valid.

“ Could it be, that President Obama's slight and slap in the face Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu helped embolden these enemies? When the President of the United States indicates he does not have time for the Israeli Prime Minister who is facing an Iranian enemy who has promised to destroy Israel and is rapidly advancing in their aims to get nuclear weapons...when that allied prime Minister requests an audience with the president of the United States over these weighty matters Netanyahu is told that Obama does not have time for him?
”

I'd say it's a near certainty.  What U.S. Presidents say, matter.  Or used to, anyway.  Remember how Saddam tried to feel out the Bush administration's stance on his conflict with Kuwait?  And US Ambassador April Glaspie conveyed the message to Saddam that the US 'had no opinion' on Iraq's future intentions with regard to Kuwait?  Saddam took that to mean he could invade Kuwait, willy-nilly.  You know the rest of that story.

The only other "surprise" outcome I can think of requires the belief that Obama is the anti-Christ and was trying to trigger WWII by serving up Israel to Islamos. Ahem.

How do you photograph one of the most secretive countries in the world?  For Charlie Crane the answer was simple, photograph what they want you to see. If there is no possibility of getting underneath the surface then the answer was to photograph the surface itself. This series is taken from a larger body of work in Pyongyang, the capital city of North Korea... Although not commonly thought of as a holiday destination all these photographs have been taken at tourist sites throughout the city.

More pictures here from Doug Ross, who comments:

Remember: this is the inevitable endgame for the Democrat Party's incessant, eight-decade drive for ever more centralized, authoritarian government. Their various mandates -- governing energy, health care, retirement, automobile design, shower heads, you name it -- must be enforced through compulsion. That is: they must use force over the individual to compel adherence to their unconstitutional dictates. That is what the Democrat Party's failed policies must inevitably devolve into: tyranny. -

Franken Was Not Elected; He Was Imposed

York: When 1,099 felons vote in race won by 312 ballots
177 people have been convicted -- not just accused, but convicted -- of voting fraudulently in the Senate race. Another 66 are awaiting trial.

“
Res Ipsa Loquitor
Allegations of fraud, they say, are little more than pretexts conjured up by Republicans to justify voter ID laws designed to suppress Democratic turnout.

That argument becomes much harder to make after reading a discussion of the 2008 Minnesota Senate race in "Who's Counting?", a new book by conservative journalist John Fund and former Bush Justice Department official Hans von Spakovsky.

The election was particularly important because Franken's victory gave Senate Democrats a 60th vote in favor of President Obama's national health care proposal -- the deciding vote to overcome a Republican filibuster. If Coleman had kept his seat, there would have been no 60th vote, and no Obamacare.
Although the authors cover the whole range of voter fraud issues, their chapter on Minnesota is enough to convince any skeptic that there are times when voter fraud not only exists but can be critical to the outcome of a critical race. [Full]

You'd think this report would leave me with a sense of satisfaction; of justice being served.  In fact, it makes me furious.  That four years after the fact, the obvious to a certainty is treated as something of a revelation. In fact the Minnesota judges and officials knew, or should have known all  this when they handed the race to Franken.  This was no simple vote fraud.  It was a conspiracy to overthrow a government, and a way of life.  A capital offense. GAH!

Federal Court finds Obama appointees played pulling guard ... .

OBAMUNISM, The Party,
Federal Court finds Obama appointees interfered with New Black Panther prosecution

“
Res Ipsa Loquitor

The New Black Panthers case stems from a Election Day 2008 incident where two members of the New Black Panther Party were filmed outside a polling place intimidating voters and poll watchers by brandishing a billy club. Justice Department lawyers investigated the case, filed charges, and when the Panthers failed to respond, a federal court in Philadelphia entered a “default” against all the Panthers defendants. But after Obama was sworn in, the Justice Department reversed course, dismissed charges against three of the defendants, and let the fourth off with a narrowly tailored restraining order.

“The Court’s decision is another piece of evidence showing the Obama Justice Department is run by individuals who have a problem telling the truth,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said. “The decision shows that we can’t trust the Obama Justice Department to fairly administer our nation’s voting and election laws.”

This is very big news, and I'm heartened by it - even if it took almost 4 years.  But, there's  this— (as the Church Lady is won't to say,  "Isn't that ... . ")

Exclusive: Five ATF officials found responsible for Fast and Furious

“ Two more final reports, they said, will deal with “the devastating failure of supervision and leadership” at the Department of Justice and an “unprecedented obstruction of the [congressional] investigation by the highest levels of the Justice Department, including the attorney general himself.”

The first report did allege some Justice Department involvement, however, notably that Kenneth E. Melson, then acting ATF director, was made into a “scapegoat” for Fast and Furious after he told congressional Republicans his Justice Department supervisors  “were doing more damage control than anything” else once Fast and Furious became public.

Record number of coal-fired generators to be shut down in 2012

OBAMUNISM, The Party,
Record number of coal-fired generators to be shut down in 2012

What's to add?  Let''s skip to the comments.

messup

Res Ipsa LoquitorNow, these Coal fired electricity producing plants will effectively be "off-grid." There is literally nothing in the current system to fill this tremendous void. Not to mention the devastating effects this will have on employment, Tax revenue for these communities and costs of cleaning up all vacated building and properties.

Renewable energy costs are already increased around 32% over 2010 costs and soon going higher. This is reflected in residential , industrial and commercial operating budgets.

This White House has not only increased the cost of energy but has: reduced employment on a massive scale, decimated communities and their taxable revenues, shut down coal mines, caused widespread power grid lapses and disrupted a large swath of America's economic, mid-Atlantic states' livelihood [sic].

How could anybody in their right mind vote for four more years of this rambling disaster? God Save America. Amen.

Pedro

Apparently you failed to listen when Obama told us that he would shut down the coal industry. Obama has showed that it is his goal to bring this country to it's knee's. This monster of a man will be hard to stop. The American people can't see what he really stands for. The death of America and praise to allah.

It's US! Donilon and Power

OBAMUNISM, The Party,

Donilon pegged as likely White House mole
It's Them!!

“

Tom Donilon- Mole in thr Whitehouse

It suggests that Thomas Donilon, the national security adviser, is a likely source in The Times reporting, considering he is “the commenter of record on events." Read more:

The book [The Amateur]  also describes a rivalry between Jones and his deputy Tom Donilon, who currently serves as National Security Adviser. Donilon, a longtime Democratic operative, made derogatory remarks about military commanders in Iraq and Afghanistan, the book says. Klein quotes Jones as once telling Donilon, “You have no credibility with the military.”

“When he (Jones) went into the Oval Office, he was usually accompanied by a phalanx of aides, including three political operatives who had played roles in Obama’s 2008 campaign,” Klein writes. “Jones’s chief of staff Mark Lippert; his deputy Tom Donilon, who had coached Obama for his debates against John McCain; and Dennis McDonough, the director of strategic communications. At times this group was expanded to include Hillary Clinton, Valarie Jarrett, David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel, and on rare occasions, Michelle Obama.”

Another book, “Obama’s Wars” by Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward, released in 2010, also discussed the conflict between Jones and Obama’s political team.

Woodward’s book says that Jones saw the political team “as major obstacles to developing and deciding on a coherent policy.” Woodward identifies the group as including then-White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, top adviser David Axelrod, and then-press secretary Robert Gibbs. “He (Jones) privately called them ‘the water bugs,’ the ‘Politburo,’ the ‘Mafia,’ or the ‘campaign set.’”

“There are too many senior aides around the president,” Jones is quoted as saying in the Woodward book. “‘They’re likely water bugs. They flit around. Rahm gets an idea at 10 a.m., a briefing by 4 p.m., and I will say ‘no’ because the work can’t be done in a day. The water bugs did not understand war or foreign relations, Jones felt.”
[ clipped from  Book Describes Rift Between Obama’s Nat’l Security Adviser and His Political Team: ‘Water Bugs’]

While I was reading The Amateur, questions about WH  security leaks were raging.  Two people I knew little about- Donilon and Samantha Power, screamed out "IT'S US!  as I read about them. Here's Power. I think this shows how pliable our nincompoop-in-chief is,  in the hands of the experienced hard core leftists he feels so comfortable with.  Too bad Power didn't suggest immolation while wearing a saffron robe instead of the bow.

“ .When it came to foreign affairs, no one had a more profound influence on Obama than Samantha Power, [a Harvard professor]who burst upon the scene in 2003 with her book , A Problem in Hell, which indicted America and other democracies for being "bystanders to genocide."

Samanta Power- Hates America
Obama made her a member and then appointed her to the National Council as special assistant to the president.

"US foreign policy has to be rethought," Power argued. "It needs not tweaking but overhauling ...Instituting a doctrine of mea culpa would enhance our credibility by showing American decision makers do not endorse the sins of their predecessors."

Power's answer to her own question was clear:she wanted Obama to "get down on one knee" and seek pardon for the sins of American Foreign policy."

... the American Military Coup of 2012

Police State Culture

The Origins of the American Military Coup of 2012

“
                  CHARLES J. DUNLAP, JR.

Back in 1992 the Pentagon’s Joint Chiefs of Staff held a "Strategy Essay Competition."
The winner was a National War College student paper entitled, "The Origins of the American Military Coup of 2012." Authored by Colonel Charles J. Dunlap, Jr. the paper
is a well documented, "darkly imagined excursion into the future." The ostensibly fictional work is written from the perspective of an imprisoned senior military officer about to be executed for opposing the military takeover of America, a coup accomplished through "legal" means. The essay makes the point that the coup was "the outgrowth of trends visible as far back as 1992," including "the massive diversion of military forces to civilian uses," particularly law enforcement.

I skimmed the first few pages and usually get bored and move on. After 4 pages and read with a bit more intent and found this worth passing on.
