Laslo Bock, Google’s outgoing chief of human resources, has, according to the Wall Street Journal, established a database of résumés to help Obama staffers and Clinton advocates find work after their unexpected yet impending unemployment.  Given the dire situation some outgoing Obama staffers are in: “A lot of us are looking for any fit,” Patel said — the soon-to-be-former president is doing what he can to help his supporters find work in Trump’s Washington. “The president made it a priority to ensure that, throughout his administration, employees had access to professional development resources and tools to help them advance in their careers and transition to new opportunities,” White House spokeswoman Brandi Hoffine told Politico, describing Obama as “extremely grateful” to those staffers who have stayed with him over the years. Both the Pacific States of America and the Eastern American puppet state appear to be mere provinces of the Japanese and German empires without any apparent autonomous (even quisling) government institutions whatsoever. The Rocky Mountain States become a literally anarchic Neutral Zone. World War II appears to have ended symbolically in 1945, with America surrendering unconditionally after the Nazis destroy Washington DC with an H-bomb, rather than in 1947 after the US is invaded and defeated by land as in the book. As for Hitler himself, while elderly, he is apparently mostly hale in his Season 1 finale appearance, though other characters elsewhere in the season do reference his supposed physical infirmity. (Wiki) My son the royal prince told me to watch this series, which is by now in it's second season (so there's that).  We just watched s1, e3, and ... wow.  I have never watched anything that caused such a visceral reaction.  I mean, making me feel unsettled, ill, and queasy. I think perhaps it's due to the fact that, previously, I would have watched secure in the knowledge that this nation was too united to allow anything close to this scenario. Red Dawn 1984 ("In our time, no foreign army has ever occupied American soiul ... until now") had a similar premise, however I saw it as a vastly entertaining object lesson about protecting our borders.  With High Castle, I'm reduced to believing that we are on a course that will lead to a similar fracture, political upheaval, and subjugation. But, that's just me.  It's an AMAZON production, free to the Prime member, although I'll bet that wont be true for season two.  In fact, I'm disappointed that there  is a season 2.  I want closure.  Somehow Daily Motion is able to show S1,E1 (above), so have a go. The word means "tight-fisted", and was loosely defined as any farmer who had more land or more cows than his neighbors. Such farmers were "enemies of the state" because they resisted the agenda of collectivization. ... the Cossacks as such were exterminated, the men shot, the women, children, and the elderly deported, and the villages razed or handed over to new, non-Cossack occupants.  I'm sure that one of Obama's heroes, Robert Mugabe, had this definition in mind in his "redistribution" plan for Zimbabwe, in which the former Rhodesia, once "the breadbasket of Africa", was transformed into a basket-case. As for the great famine in Ukraine in 1932-33, which resulted from the rural population’s resistance to forced collectivization, 6 million died in a period of several months.  Here, the genocide of a “class” may well be tantamount to the genocide of a “race” – the deliberate starvation of a child of a Ukrainian kulak as a result of the famine caused by Stalin’s regime “is equal to” the starvation of a Jewish child in the Warsaw ghetto as a result of the famine caused by the Nazi regime.   Such arguments in no way detract from the unique nature of Auschwitz – the mobilization of leading-edge technological resources and their use in an “industrial process” involving the construction of an “extermination factory,” the use of gas, and cremation. However, this argument highlights one particular feature of many Communist regimes – their systematic use of famine as a weapon. The regime aimed to control the total available food supply and, with immense ingenuity, to distribute food purely on the basis of “merits” and “demerits” earned by individuals.   This policy was a recipe for creating famine on a massive scale. Remember that in the period after 1918, only Communist countries experienced such famines, which led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands, and in some cases millions, of people. And again in the 1980s, two African countries that claimed to be Marxist-Leninist, Ethiopia and Mozambique, were the only such countries to suffer these deadly famines. ”
