The Visitor is a movie I would never - in a million years - have payed to see, rented, or watched on free television.  Then son # 3, whose movie taste, while eclectic, tends to favor Adam Sandler/Jack Black vehicles, recommended it highly. [*Aside -  For the life of me, I couldn't remember Jack Black's first name just now.  It' was a Googling nightmare* ] We watched it over the weekend, and we loved it.  The acting is sensational.  I've seen Richard Jenkins in movies before, but didn't know his name.  Now I do.  Given what happens, it's pretty remarkable that I felt uplifted by it.   My immediate assessment was (out of 5); my day after score is ¼, meaning it stays with you.   Oh, did I mention the film is about three Muslim illegals living in New York?   Go figure.

The New York Times yesterday delivered a lengthy (10 pages on the Internet) piece on religion.   Here's the answer to the their question,  How Christian Were the Founders?, in a single paragraph, 99 words.   The rest is a veiled attack on Christians. All Europeans who settled in early America were nominally Christian.  The Founders, those who wore their religion, were Christian.  Some, Deists, believed in the existence of God based solely on natural reason, without reference to revelation, and slept in on Sunday.  We had a common religion, a common unreligion, and a common tongue.  Because of slavery we are  biracial, and that has caused some problem, most of which is today perpetuated by race baiters for political reasons.  We prospered.  Now, we find ourselves being divided  (Balkanized) by religion, language, and race.  There you have it.  We had wise leaders.  Now we don't.

Cuzzin Ricky sent me "the Real Reason Conan Got Fired" video.  It's the Tonight Show parody of Michelle Obama's appearance on Sesame Street.  Before I self produce e-mailed videos, I look for the YouTube version ,which usually exists.  Not this one. Other video services found by YouTube owner Google had a "No longer available" tag.  At the last minute I checked the O'Reilly/Chris Wallace version (above) and voila.  I'm pretty sure I posted this at the time, but in retrospect it may very well be why Conan was fired.  What? NBC West chief Don Ohlmeyer insisted Norm McDonald be fired from his SNL fake news job because of shots he took at the Clintons and O.J.
