Barry Who?

I don't have a classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at Columbia. Ever!

Matt Welch: So tell us what we should know about Barack Obama that we don't?

Wayne Allyn Root: I think the most dangerous thing you should know about Barack Obama is that I don't know a single person at Columbia that knows him, and they all know me. I don't have a classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at Columbia. Ever! [Wayne Allyn Root's Million-Dollar Challenge- September 5, 2008]

Of all the mind-spinning, gob-smacking, brain-numbing mysteries about the Obama guy, this is top tier. The fact that not a single investigative media source (e.g. Sixty-Minutes) have deemed it a worthwhile look-see is the clincher. They know he's a "Manchurian candidate," and they're okay with it.

Mr Root  decided not to testify in this trial based on disagreements over some of the subject matter that is scheduled to be brought up at the trial, and that's fine. Obama was convicted on all counts. His absence since then had me wondering—but wait!  College Classmate: 'The Obama Scandal Is at Columbia'

If this doesn't make you seriously consider that Obama is not at all who he says he is, then you also believe in AGW and think Hillary Clinton has something to offer.  You're pitiful.  Get out of my sight, or I'll strip you of your citizenship..

Going Regimental with Madonna

   At The Cinema

Dare to Be Truthful

UPDATED
This Madonna "style retrospective" is of no particular interest to me, but it did serve to remind me of Medusa: Dare to Be Truthful.

When it was making the rounds on Showtime in 1992, I watched it several times without realizing it was a spoof (that's good spoof!). I knew who Madonna was, but paid little attention. In fact, the only time I'd seen her perform was on a Showtime concert.   A stage floor up-shot camera angle caught me by surprise.  For a moment I thought she was panty-less. This was before DVR, so there was no quick review.  I set the VCR to tape the next showing, and sure enough!  Madonna was flashing beaver. So, you can see why I could be taken-in by Julie Brown.

I rank Medusa as one of the top three  five mockumentary films ever made (This Is Spinal Tap, and The Old Negro Space Program, Waiting For Guffman, Best in Show )
Unlike the other two four (watch-in-full links above), this six-part YouTube presentation is the only one I could find.  I don't have time right now, but later I will watch, for the first time in 20 years.  If I change my mind about its brilliance, I'll let you know.

Remaking Red Dawn
North Korea Invades America in Dumbest Movie Ever

Has Hollywood ever done a remake that was better than the original? EVER?  I can't think of one off-hand.  Red Dawn was a pleasant surprise for me when I got around to watching it -- about 2 years after its 1984 debut (I expected teen hero trash). The only reason for anyone, really, to expect anything was that Harry Dean Stanton was in the cast. Who the hell was Patrick Swayze?  Now I regard it as one of the best anti-leftist action films ever made.   I don't think Obama would like it..

Mitt's a Puffer, Not a Cure

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — When Mitt Romney campaigned last week at one stop in Colorado, a key swing state whose governor and senators are Democrats, he sought to sell himself with a simple message: He is a deal maker, someone who can work with Democrats and reach across the aisle, as he did when he was the governor of Massachusetts.

“We’ve got to have someone that goes to Washington that buries the hatchet and says, ‘You know what? There are good Democrats, there are good Republicans that care about America,’ ” Mr. Romney said at a rally in a Denver suburb. “Let’s work together to get the American people working.”

But on Saturday, Mr. Romney flew on a Gulfstream IV to the southwest reaches of Indiana to campaign for someone with a distinctly different view of bipartisanship: Richard Mourdock, a Tea Party favorite and the state’s Republican Senate nominee, who this spring defeated the incumbent, Richard G. Lugar, one of the most influential Republicans of the past generation.

Gore Vidal RIP (Ahem)

RIP

He's With Ted Kennedy Now

[Via Wiki] During discussions of the 1968 Democratic National Convention protests, Buckley and Vidal were arguing about freedom of speech with regard to American protesters displaying a Viet Cong flag when Vidal told Buckley to "shut up a minute" and, in response to Buckley's reference to "pro-Nazi" protesters, went on to say: "As far as I'm concerned, the only sort of pro-crypto-Nazi I can think of is yourself." The visibly livid Buckley replied, "Now listen, you queer. Stop calling me a crypto-Nazi, or I'll sock you in the goddamn face and you'll stay plastered."   Buckley later expressed regret for having called Vidal a "queer," but nonetheless described Vidal as an "evangelist for bisexuality."

I would go on that year to vote for Humphrey, but near as I can remember this was my first exposure to Buckley.  I went on a binge of checking out Buckley books from the library with profound effect on my already conservative leaning self.   Hubert was the last democrat I ever voted for.

Vidal didn't leave much impression on me one way or another.  Forgetting this  kerfuffle entirely,  I quite enjoyed reading  his Burr, Lincoln and to some extent 1876.  Myra Breckenridge was the last time I checked out a Vidal book. I grew to loathe the man.  Not because he was a publicly promiscuous bisexual; that goes without saying, but because he was the poster boy liberal.  Arrogant, snotty, and blamed the United States for everything.  Here's a clip from a recent  NPR paean
The word heterosexual is an adjective, the word homosexual is an adjective. They describe an activity. Of course there's a homosexual activity; of course there's a heterosexual activity. But there's no homosexual person. There's no heterosexual person. Everybody is everything.

It's like saying oh, I want you to meet Mildred, this is potato-eating Mildred. Oh my God, she eats - I'm sorry, but I don't want to be at the same table with a potato-eater. Sorry, Mildred, but some other time. Now that's - only a country that is based upon an extremely primitive religion, which is Christianity, I am a devoted enemy of monotheism in all of its forms, could have come with a categorizing of people as one thing or the other.

In Europe, these distinctions are not only not known, but we're thought to be mad. Latins just roar with laughter. ... And I was actually stopped all day long by Italians, these villagers, saying what kind of country is this. And I said, well, it's a very primitive country, the United States, and it's full of superstitions, which come out of a very fundamental religious bias, which is primitive Christianity.

And since they have enough votes to terrify the more sophisticated people who run the country, these are some of the bones that they get thrown - like prayer in the schools and abortion and all subjects which have nothing to do with the federal government, but they see to it that it does. No, no, we're kind of a joke.

He's with Ted Kennedy now.

Obama's Calculiar

LIARS
"If you're trying to change minds and influence people it's probably not a good idea to say that virtually all elected Democrats are liars, but what the hell." TRKOF&S

This calcu-liar is absurd when you consider that under Obama  congress can no longer balance the budget even if it shut down government.  Add to that Obama's reputation as a liar on the scale of the Clintons, and pooof!  Here's some guy's quick analysis.  More detailed breakdowns will surely be forthcoming.

Because the tax code is complex, the calculator makes a number of simplifying assumptions that may differ from the circumstances of any particular user.
  • It assumes all income is from wages. For married filers, it assumes that income is split evenly between two earners.
  • It assumes that income does not vary over the years analyzed.
  • It assumes that taxpayers claim the standard deduction for the purpose of analyzing the impact of the expiration of the middle class tax cuts.
  • The impact of Mitt Romney’s tax plan is based on an analysis by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, which determines the tax increase or tax cut the average family in each income group would face if Romney paid for his $5 trillion tax plan by cutting tax benefits.
  • The analysis assumes that Romney eliminates all tax benefits, except those for savings and investment, for households earning over $200,000, and reduces those benefits for households earning under $200,000 to cover the rest of the cost – resulting in a reduction by more than half.
  •  The Tax Policy Center uses income thresholds based on “cash income”, a measure broader than AGI commonly used by TPC.

New York, You’ve Changed

The Filming Locations of Annie Hall, Part 1

“New York, You’ve Changed” is a Scouting NY feature in which the New York depicted in classic movies is compared with the city of today, a full shot-by-shot dissection to see what once was and what has changed. Side note: I think this concept would make for an excellent coffee table/photo book, and if anyone might be interested (ahem TASCHEN ahem), please contact me!

Annie Hall may just be the best movie ever made in New York. [Full]

I don't think so, but that begs the question.  Don't matter. I'm fascinated with projects like this, and have been a fan of Scouting New York for some time.  Yes, I do like NYC.  I even like the people I know there.  I also think they're among the most politically ignorant people extant, but the city pops.

Would blacks vote for Obama if he was white?

Black Racism

If Barack Obama wasn’t black, would black voters support him?

That's a question Rev. C.L. Bryant, a former chapter president of the National Association for the  NAACP is asking in his movie “Runaway Slave."  We won't know what impact Black leaders like Bryant have had until November 7th.  If Obama received appreciably less than the de rigueur 113% of the Black vote, they will have made progress, and there's hope.

Okay, what really think.  Blacks, along with the rest of the dependent class Liberals have been constructing since 1965, would vote for  Joe Stalin if he ran as a Democrat (and he does). You know it; I know it.  Dammit.  We appreciate your effort though Rev. Bryant.

‘Let His Days Be Few’ Very Few

Psalm 109:8 ‘Let His Days Be Few’
An anti-Obama bumper-sticker slogan which seems to urge people to pray for an end to the President’s days (in office?).

Res Ipsa Loquitor
Res Ipsa Loquitor

There’s a hilarious new meme in the wingnut sectors (*snort*) of the internet,” Gawker announced:

Posters to various message boards tell stories of seeing bumper stickers with the message “Pray for Obama – Psalm 109:8” on the highway, only to look up the verse and find, “Let his days be few; and let another take his office.” …

Anyway, now it’s a real thing: CafePress is selling T-shirts and bumper stickers, the Christian Science Monitor is wondering whether it’s “funny or sinister” to pray for Obama’s death, and Rachel Maddow referenced it last night on her show.

However, as a number of commentators have noted, the wording that follows this bumper-sticker appeal is somewhat more disturbing:
  • Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
  • Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
  • Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.
  • Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labor.
  • Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favor his fatherless children.
  • Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.
  • Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
  • Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.
November 19, 2009, 10:30 am

Lest you missed this (I did), a reprise is in order.  I like that The New York Times cites Gawkerin the manner of the AP or UPI— although I guess it is a contributor..  And, there is nothing in the psalm that translates " to pray for Obama’s death."

The clerk said he didn’t mean to be forward, however white typically represents ladies who have maintained their innocence. The lady responded she in fact had maintained her innocence. The clerk asks; how so?

The lady said her first husband tragically died of a heart attack in anticipation of the honeymoon following the wedding service. What of your second marriage the clerk asked? Carry a Baseball Bat Policy

Evolution from TR to BO

Res Ipsa Loquitor

Big Stick ideology, Big Stick diplomacy, or Big Stick policy refers to U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt’s corollary to the Monroe Doctrine: "speak softly, and carry a big stick." Roosevelt attributed the term to a West African proverb, "Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far," but the claim that it originated in West Africa has been disputed -  Wikipedia

Because Obama has no feel for United States culture or tradition, he's confused Teddy Roosevelt's signature phrase with the Kenyan Mau-Mau dictum, "Warn them once then use a baseball bat."
