with delicious hazelnut cream substitute,  Mmmmmmmmmmm,

If you're a coffee brewing method-ist, move along, nothing to see here.  And I don't want to hear the ridicule.

Yesterday I happened upon an old leather valise, abandoned no doubt because the strap broke.  The contents were a clue to when I'd last used it.  1998.  I know that because inside were a Continental Airline boarding pass to Phoenix, and a Sedona hotel receipt.  Also, along with the usual  hotel shampoos, soaps, and remote control booty, were two packs of coffee.  Each packet (made by Mr. Coffee)  made "4 cups," which happens to be exactly what my cup holds.

I brewed one.

Holy crap!  It was  excellent. So good in fact that I went ahead and  did the second one. Yep.  Definitely better than today's coffee.  Especially since 100% Aribaca Bean. coffee have disappeared from planet grocery store.

However, before making that second cup I weighed the contents—exactly ½ ounce. This morning I  weighed out exactly ½ ounce.of the Wal-Mart coffee we use, and brewed it up.  Guess what?  It was maybe even better!

From this I will surmise that the key is in the measurement.  That sounds elementary, but I scoop by eye,  willy-nilly.  Normally I would have used half again that amount (my daughter-in-law Jen would use 6 times!). So there you have it.  You cannot go by the length of a man's thumb, you have to measure.

You're welcome

The Voting Fraud Numbers Are In—

(Philadelphia)
As each state reported their final election details, the evidence of voter fraud is astounding. Massive voter fraud has been reported in areas of OH and FL, with PA, WI and VA, all are deploying personnel to investigate election results.
Here are just a few examples of what has surfaced with much more to come.
* In 59 voting districts in the Philadelphia region, Obama
received 100% of the votes with not even a single vote recorded for
Romney. (A mathematical and statistical impossibility).
* In 21 districts in Wood County Ohio, Obama received 100% of
the votes where GOP inspectors were illegally removed from their
polling locations – and not one single vote was recorded for Romney.
(Another statistical impossibility).

* In Wood County Ohio, 106,258 voted in a county with only
98,213 eligible voters.
* In St. Lucie County, FL, there were 175,574 registered
eligible voters but 247,713 votes were cast.
* The National SEAL Museum, a polling location in St. Lucie
County, FL had a 158% voter turnout.
* Palm Beach County, FL had a 141% voter turnout.
* In Ohio County, Obama won by 108% of the total number of
eligible voters.
NOTE: Obama won in every state that did not require a Photo ID and lost in every state that did require a Photo ID in order to vote. [The Voting Fraud Numbers Are In—and They’re Shocking!]

thoR! comments:
Makes me wonder how much longer the rest of us will continue to participate in playing this ridiculous game. It’s no longer about liberty and justice; it’s now about coercion.

Are you shocked?  I'm not shocked.  Election day 2012 was wall-to-wall filled with stories about ongoing election fraud in these very states.  I think it took, in total, less than two million strategically miscast votes to give Obama a victory. Many of   those battleground states were reported leaning Romney, not to mention polls that showed him winning handily. .

I recognize that the current administration has the power to crush me, but I do not recognize it as a legitimate government.  Obama is no more a legitimate president than he is native born.

UPDATE:  thooR writes "Thanks for posting this, while all of it seems to be true, the website that I gave you, that came from another chain email appears to come from a quack" .

That's right, the friggen trash compactor crapped out.  I'm hoping someone has an idea, because I Googled till the cows came home and  nobody, evidently, has had this happen before.

  2. Stopped making normal compact noise, but went into sounding like the gear is  just spinning but nothing is moving.
  3. I turn it off, but can't open it to see what's going on.

Negro Dressed In KKK Hood On Street Corner Sparks Controversy In Philadelphia

“
Res Ipsa Loquitor

The man, who stood on the corner of 13th and Filbert on Tuesday, is not out to lynch or kill black people. In fact, he is black.

Thirty-five-year-old Sixx King says he’s using the offensive symbol to highlight a serious problem: black on black crime.

“We’re bringing awareness to the black hypocrisy, complacency and apathy in the African-American community,” said King.

According to the FBI, in 2011 more than 7,000 black people were killed. King’s sign reads that the KKK killed 3,446 blacks in 86 years, while black on black murders surpass that number every six months. [Full nonsense]

“

I haven't spoken of it, but Midsomer Murders has been, along with Top Gear re-runs, my go-to feel-good entertainment source.  Like Doc Martin (which series MoSup has now watched twice), it's holding power
over me has much to do with the ensemble of regular characters, and interesting if somewhat obtuse murder mysteries, and understated humor..

But that's not what this is about.   Annika Bengtzon: Crime Reporter is (I love the name Annika). But, just when I got to where I couldn't get enough of it, it was over.  Just six episodes.  Damn Damn Damn.

Unlike the video sample, it's subtitled of course.  Unreliably so.  Is there anything worse than white or yellow subtitles against a white background?  Or black against black?  If the United Nations wants to do something useful, it ought mandate that all subtitles be yellow with black borders!  So there's that.  Sometimes the same subtitled dialog will stay on the screen  while a boatload of Swedegibberish is being spoken; and then,to catch up, the next four flash by in one second.

Don't matter. I loved it.

Oh, and one more thing.  It seems that Sweden have sunshine laws that allow any citizen, at anytime, to look at the public records of any government employee, including the police.  I mean everything.  Annika is able to go to a clerk in the Swedish government and peruse an up-to-date elected politician's expense report, and submitted receipts.  Can you imagine?  Our politicians can, so you'll never see it here.

Just two years ago I was doing 3000-4000 discreet hits per day; now down to half that.  And why?  A few nipples, some F-word and C-word bombs, and there went my prissier following.  A few misquotes; a faulty analysis or two, and bang!  I lose the flaky "Oh I expect a little accuracy and proper grammar" crowd.  You know who you are.  As Jesus said, "Let he  among you who have never linked to a pornish website take the first train out of Dodge."  For those who have faithfully stuck around, what the fuck are you thinking?

Of course I'm just kidding.  This is just a neighborhood bar. While I do miss the legions of once faithful customers, now off to Facebook,  it is the nature of this blog that whatever it was that first attracted them in the first place, will  find it was just an anomaly, or found not enough of it.  Or maybe too much of it was just off the tracks?  Or maybe my untempered hostility towards anyone who voted for a Clinton, Gore, Kerry or Obama.  Or my bizarre sense of humor? Not Jusus-like to be sure.

For the rest of youse guys,  free Flaming Moes all day! . And Doug Ross, you also get a Reuben sandwich on home made rye! Free.

When Glenn Reynolds speaks ...

A revolution in the works?
Glenn Reynolds
“
Res Ipsa Loquitor

Americans are out of sorts, and increasingly they're unhappy with the government. According to a Pew poll released last week, more than half of Americans view government as a threat to their freedom.
There are two possible ways to address this problem. One is to elect people that everyone trusts. The problem with that is that there aren't any politicians that everyone trusts -- and, alas, if there were, the odds are good that such trust would turn out to be misplaced.

And it's not just Republicans unhappy with Obama, or gun owners afraid that the government will take their guns: 38% of Democrats, and 45% of non-gun owners, see the government as a threat.

Add this to another recent poll in which only 22% of likely voters feel America's government has the "consent of the governed," and you've got a pretty depressing picture -- and a recipe for potential trouble. - [Glenn Reynolds cont]

Reynolds suggests that the last best chance to avoid a bloody messy revolt is to call a constitutional convention. " Are we there yet? I don't think so. But we're getting closer all the time. Political class, take note."

God bless him for his optimism, no matter how muted, because I cannot for the life of me see any way that  a nation who elected Barack Obama could make political soup that wasn't more toxic than what we have.  The only hope of course is to appoint me benign dictator for just, say, 100 days.  You know I'm right.

Thanks to smibsid for the heads-up on this one.

Well it just never ends does it?

Last night I was preparing my dough for some overnight puffing up, when my Hobart Kitchen Aid FP-700 motor seized.  You've all heard that sound—when a motor is trying to turn,  but just can't overcome the invisible force holding it back. HMMMMMMMMMM.  At least I knew to stop trying before the smell of death came, but it was still a hand-biting bad. situation..

We've had this 14 cup, 700w dude for 40 years.  About 12 years ago the magic spring lock that engaged when the lid was in place (so you couldn't blend your hand?) broke.  It didn't take long to figure out that the lid in the lock position pressed a plunger with a magnet that interacted with something metal and allowed it to work.  I found a little magnet in the garage and glued it permanently on the magic G spot,  and it worked better than ever.  That's right, You could even cut stuff with the lid off—if you were that stupid.

Anyway, I spent at least 90 minutes this morning trying to find a replacement base.  It seems I had the last working FP-700 in the world, and a new machine with the same muscle and capacity starts in the $300 range. So I went back and laid hands on its shaft, and gently massaged it.  Hand turning  the  spindle ever so gently, back and forth, pulling and pushing until, voila!  I felt it move freely.  I put the bowl on and  hit "pulse"—and verily I say unto you it did pulse. Say Amen.

Time for more bagels! But not right now.  I don't want my mellow harshed if it seizes up again.  Give me my hits.

Whipped this up this morning.  Saw it on AmerTestKitches and—well I was hungry so what the hell.  The breakthrough differences here are (supposedly) that carrot layer cakes are almost impossible to apply the obligatory butter-cream cheese icing (too crumbly).  The technique here is to bake it on a cookie sheet (just 20 minutes), and slice it into one-third layers,  The frosting uses powdered Buttermilk to solve some other problems.  Anyway, it took anbout $10 and two hours start to finish (and another hour cleaning up). There you have it. It's damned good, and I could eat the icing by itself.  I put it in the freezer so I don't eat it before MoSup comes home from Florida (she loves carrot cake).

More Hollywood Agitprop

How John Kerry Won, Then Ended The Vietnam War
Coming soon to a theatre near you.

Remember The Distinguished Gentleman (1992)?  Where Eddie Murphy conned his way into congress, but soon discovered that some crooked Republican congessmen were using  their Committee Chairs to blackmail  corporations into 'cash donations?

AHEM
In 1990 a democrat staffer named John L. Jackley wrote Hill Rat, a book that exposed the cavalier attitude most law makers have about ethics. Using terms like "The Favor Factory," and "The House of Lord s," Jackley revealed how whenever members of John Dingell's Energy Committee needed campaign cash, Dingell would simply hold hearings on legislation -- any legislation, it didn't matter -- which resulted in lobbyist money pouring in -- from both the pro and con camps!
The Distinguished Gentleman

" Initially, the lucrative donations and campaign contributions roll in, but as he learns the nature of the con game in Washington D.C., he starts to see how the greed and corruption makes it difficult to address issues such as campaign finance reform, environmental protection, and the possibility that electric power companies may have a product that is giving kids in a small town cancer.

In trying to address these issues, Congressman Johnson finds himself double-crossed by (Republican) Power and Industry (
Energy and Commerce Committee) chairman (John Dingell) Dick Dodge. Johnson decides to fight back the only way he knows how: with a con. Johnson succeeds and exposes Dodge as corrupt. As the film ends, it appears likely that Johnson will be thrown out of Congress for the manner in which he was elected".  Wikipedia

WTF? Remember this was in 1992, two years before the Gingrich led revolt  ending 40 years of Democrat House rule.  The movie villain Dick Dodge in real life was Democrat John Dingell.  There are tons more instances of Hollywood portraying Republicans villains with recognizable traits of real life Democrats.   Here's one ( The Double 2011) that I started to watch last night.

“ Synopsis - The Double
Retired CIA agent Paul Shepherdson joins young FBI agent Ben Geary to track down a Russian assassin who has seemingly returned after the Cold War. Old conspiracies quickly resurface, embroiling the pair in deeper and deeper peril.
”

After an opening sequence where Russian agents kill, and assume the identities of Mexicans trying to sneak into the USA, we segue into a Meet The Press style interview..

Find missing spoons and candy bars.
I always get a rush when I rip all the wires and cords from my computer, get out the vacuum cleaner, some bleach and wood cleaner, and then put it all back so no wires show and everything works the way I want. I'm on stage three (of four) of that process.

I found two teaspoons, various and sundry doo-dads and whatchamacallits.  After a heavy cleaning I plugged in the router, computer and monitor.  And that's where I'm at.  The floor looks like a minefield—that's done exploded— but I don't care.  I have four whole days to deal with it before MoSup gets back from the Florida nudist camp.

Everything is so much faster, and the ride smoother, and quieter (no speakers plugged in yet). Just like after a car wash.   And here's why (I think) .  I noticed that, even though I plugged in the same wireless mouse, keyboard and such, there were a lot of  "found installing new hardware" messages.  Then the Microsoft Windows Keyboard and Mouse Center opened (WTF)?

Here's what I think.  Windows 7 is so intent on things being just soooooo tidy,  that unless you use the same connecty slots that it expects, it creates new device info.   That's the only thing I can think of to explain the new crispness and response.  Never happened on the older Windows.

An Obamacare tsunami is about to hit ...

Right now, prior to Obamacare, if you were uninsured, you didn't pay anything.  You went to the emergency room, you finagled, you did whatever you had to do, everything was fine.  It was an option not to pay health insurance. And maybe you didn't pay insurance, if you went to the doctor, you just paid for it.
"Now everybody is going to pay."

Is Rush saying that the people using free Obamaphones are going to pay? That the near 50% of all Americans who pay no Income Tax but get  tax refunds anyway are going to pay this"fine?"

I don't think so Lucy.
No longer.  Now everybody is going to pay.  The thing is, how many people think Obamacare's free?  How many people think that Obamacare is this massive new entitlement that isn't gonna cost them anything.  Somebody else is gonna be paying for it.  Yet under Obamacare even the uninsured are gonna be paying a minimum of $2,400 a year.  And that $2,400 does not buy you insurance.  It's a penalty for not having it.

It's just a new tax, $2,400, and you do not get insurance coverage for that.  It's a penalty for not having it.  Family of four or five starting in 2016, $20,000 for the low-end plan.  What's the solution?  First thing, get rid of the kids.  If that doesn't wipe it all out, then get rid of the spouse.  That's the fastest way to get these costs down.  But who's gonna do that?  Who's gonna get rid of the kids?  Nobody's gonna get rid of the kids.  Who's gonna get rid of the spouse just for this?  Well, we'll have to wait and see.  (laughing) [Full Transcript]
