My Life So Far (1999)

MY LIFE SO FAR
Starring Mr. Darcy

We daily watch a movie, or series episode, daily whilst dining, so we go through a lot of film.  It's my job to find stuff that MoSup will like.  I'm well  practiced by now (MoSup will not watch movies where drugs and/or "fuck" language dominate).  Last night I found on Netflix a 1999 film "My Life So Far."  You haven't seen it. The film is set in 1927 and based on the memoirs of Denis Forman, a British television executive, and it's been around long enough for  Roger Ebert  to have given it four stars.  The odds are 94.2% that you'll like it. You're welcome.

BEING PREPARED

Now, dear friends, as part of my stress therapy to help stop obsessing over knowledge that my country—one that I proudly defended; one that my father and stepfather also defended, with one giving his life in that service—that my country is in the hands of a man illegitimately conceived and allowed to govern through legerdemain and by a body politic increasingly having no investment whatever in this nation, and increasingly most  willingly stupefied .... where am I?  I'm lost in my own compound sentence.  I want to talk about the M-6 Anti-Tank Rocket Launcher (Bazooka).

I did some scouring of Maryland's draconian gun laws, and nowhere found its, the bazooka's, prohibition.  Did you know that?  If it's legal in Maryland, then it's almost certainly legal in your state.  Did you know how versatile and easy to use
is the bazooka ?  Watch the instructional video and be amazed.  Every patriot ought have a bazooka in the gun closet.  URGENT! Act quickly before Obama declares by fiat that the sale of bazooka ammo is prohibited.  And remember your oath.

Terps LOVING Michigan

Terps Loving The B1G Boss!

As expected ....

'Don't shoot the messenger ....

Erick Erickson's "My Candid Candidate Thoughts After CPAC," are worth reading.  He pleads, "don't shoot the messenger," so that will give you an idea.  As for me, I've decided to take full advantage of my age and not (try not) to let the destruction of our culture destroy me now.  I'll fortunately be dead before the full impact of Obama is felt. If he fell down an elevator shaft today, he cannot be undone because we are governed by circus clowns.

Caveat: It will not however take much more of this to make me saddle my horse and ride to Texas though.

BROADSIDE

BROADCHURCH

An ice storm (and ultimately accurate) forecast caused the cancellation of a birthday party we were to attend, so we had a blank calender.  What to do?  Well, as it turned out we used the day to watch all 8 episodes of BROADCHURCH, season one. Didn't want to.  Had to. That will serve as my review.  Brilliant.

By the by, I was able to identify the killer, but only because I named everyone in the cast before it was over.

Also, I've watched
ohsay 62000 movies based in Britain, but never seen the particular landscape (Westside Cliffs) where this takes place.  Stunning.

Sweet and Sour Boner News

John Boehner allies fret coup attempt

Conservatives warn the speaker’s fate could be determined by how he handles the next seven days.
YAY!

Article by POLITIO
BOO!

.... Close allies of Speaker John Boehner are worried that his conservative rivals could move to oust him as soon as next week.
YAY!

Removing a sitting speaker is exceedingly difficult, and such an effort would almost certainly fall short.
BOO!

Yet growing speculation about the possibility of it – coming after Friday’s embarrassing defeat at the hands of conservatives and House Democrats on the homeland security battle — shows how vulnerable the speaker has become.
YAY!

Frustration with the Ohio Republican is mounting after dozens of hardliners voted Friday against his three-week funding package for the Department of Homeland Security. Hours of frantic leadership meeting ensued. After some backroom maneuvering with Democrats, Boehner was able to push through a one-week bill to keep DHS open. Obama signed the bill into law just 10 minutes before a shutdown of the massive federal agency.
BOO!

The stinging rebuke of Boehner on the House floor infuriated his supporters, who accused opponents of handing Democrats a huge PR victory.
YAY!

“Some of these 52 [Republican who voted no] are more worried about protecting their own careers than protecting their constituents from ISIL. They are more worried about primaries than they are about the country,” said a GOP lawmaker close to Boehner, using an acronym for the Islamic State.
You Utterly Stupid Asswipes

“This is all aimed at Boehner. They want to take Boehner out.”
YES!  USA! USA! USA!

QOD

we have met the enemy and ...

Impeach Boehner & McConnell

First Barack Obama decided to overreach and extend amnesty by executive order. One judge in Texas has told him no and Republicans are hanging their hat on that judge’s order.

Then the FCC decided to declare internet a public utility. They overreached, rushed it through, and committed to as little transparency as possible to make it happen. Congress did nothing on this front and the FCC decided to replace the Congress on the matter.

Now there are reports that Barack Obama, by executive order and agency regulation, will curtail the manufacture of certain ammunition.

At some point men have to stand up and damn the consequences to do what is right. But we are not led by leaders of men. We are led by cowards — cowards for whom no oath is meaningful or sacred.
Again and again and again the President of the United States has met the boundaries of his powers and stepped across them. The Senate is now on the verge of confirming his Attorney General appointee who sees no limits to the power of Octavius Obama.

Given Barack Obama’s continuous overreaching of power, I must now ask if it is time to consider impeachment proceedings. Is it even possible?

Of course some of you think I mean against Barack Obama. No, can we impeach, remove from office, or otherwise put metaphorical cement shoes on Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)N/A and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)67%?  [Full Excelentness]

Obama Goes Full Stalin

GREEN NAZIS

An actual email from the “Are you now, or have you ever been a member of any
anti-science organization?” department and Barack Obama’s “Organizing for Action” front.

The level of Soviet style criminal activity at the White House has reached spectacular new lows. On February 20, The White House sent out this E-mail announcing that they were going to start attacking individual scientists who dissented from the White House global warming agenda.

Real Science Full
After getting the e-mail alert from drummerick I sought confirmation; I checked with the gold standard on climate, Anthony Watts .  This. (Check out the comments from the mostly real scientists.)

Friday Funny: Well if I was a ‘denier’ I guess I’d be on notice by Barack Obama

In case you think this Obama message is an anomaly
that whack Greens are a minority within the inner Obama Proletariathere's a sample that ought dissuade you.

Woman beats off ruffians at Domain Registration Center

An unidentified woman was entering the Olympia Domain Registration Center, just minutes before closing Friday, when she was attacked by a group carrying "STOP KISP" signs.  She told police she had forgotten to renew her web page and "had to get it done today."  Her attackers were evidently members of a leftist hate group from nearby Evergreen State College.   When two men in the group grabbed her from behind she responded with what one onlooker described as "a scene from the movie Crouching Tiger."  When others in the group piled on, they were also quickly disabled by a series of chops and kicks to the face and groin. Eight of the group  had to be medevaced to Seattle Medical Center where ....

Maybe this is why SondraK's site is down??  Anyone?

Mr Peabody

Mr. Peabody & Sherman

I was actually stunned when MoSup admitted to not knowing about Mr. Peabody.  When I explained that it was a side show on Rocky and Bullwinkle, she drew another blank and blamed her ignorance on not having a television as a kid until she was 8; (1986?).  Streaming on Netflix, this is great fun for all ages.

Those are my choices?

Rather bizarre polls via Rant Political, wot? Re: the "worst president" poll,  I'll guess that the author's editor inserted a picture of the obvious answer out of shame.  And if we're honest, the "greatest president poll"  choices are easily usable for both.  By the by, the Pearl Harbor facts slide show are "little known" only if you learned U.S. history by reading Howard Zinn.

GOP DOUBLE-CROSSING TRAITORS

Sample:

Now that a federal judge has held Obama's illegal executive amnesty unconstitutional, perhaps U.S. senators will remember that they swore to uphold the Constitution, too.

Back when they needed our votes before the last election, Republicans were hairy-chested warriors, vowing to block Obama's unconstitutional "executive amnesty" -- if only voters gave them a Senate majority. The resulting Republican landslide suggested some opposition to amnesty.

Heading into the election, college professor Dave Brat took out the sitting House majority leader and amnesty supporter Eric Cantor in a primary, despite being outspent 40-1. It was the greatest upset in history since the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" at the Lake Placid Olympics: Never before has a House majority leader been defeated in a primary. And Brat did it by an astonishing 55.5 percent to 45.5 percent.

Again, the voters seemed to be expressing disquiet with amnesty.

After that, even amnesty-supporting Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., was denouncing Obama's executive amnesty. "If the president were to do that," he said, "and we have a Republican majority in the United States Senate, why, we have a number of options that we don't now have to remind him to read Article I of the Constitution."

Poll after poll showed Americans ranking illegal immigration as the No. 1 most important problem facing the nation. We haven't changed our minds. Last week, an Associated Press-Gfk poll showed that Obama's single most unpopular policy is his position on illegal immigration.

In other words, Obamacare is more popular than amnesty. That's like losing a popularity contest to Ted Bundy.

Ms. Ann Coulter doesn't really break any new ground here
—wait. There is one thing.  I didn't know that "Never before has a House majority leader (Eric Cantor) been defeated in a primary."

What makes this column worth reading then is true of most of her musings. They are factual, and acerbically cut her targets to the bone with a surgeon's skill.  Wait, I used that trite cliche when she really is more like a combine mowing a wheat field, with grain and chaff neatly separated and flying everywhere. On a dark and rainy night. God bless her little heart.

DEM TOES

Global Clots

and other goofy bastards

It was satisfying, and pompous of me, to think that I was the first to recognize that it would only follow the logic of  AGWers to blame the automobile for our Sun's (and Algore's favorite planet) cooling period. I mean, what else could it be?  There goes my Nobel for Best AGW Bitch Slap.
The conceit that human production of carbon dioxide is capable of driving the earth’s climate is running smack into the sun. CO2 accounts for a mere 0.039% of the atmosphere, while the sun accounts for 99.86% of all of the mass in our entire solar system. And Ol’ Sol is not taking the insult lightly. Vencore Weather reports:
For the past 5 days, solar activity has been very low and one measure of solar activity – its X-ray output – has basically flatlined in recent days (plot below courtesy NOAA/Space Weather Prediction Center). Not since cycle 14 peaked in February 1906 has there been a solar cycle with fewer sunspots.
