All The Pre-Boyd Crowder Times You May Have Seen Walton Goggins And Not Known It I re-watched Django recently. Third time.  It's one of the greatest non-stop action packed, adrenaline pumping, hair-teeth and eyeball flying, smart talking  flicks I done ever seed.  But, talk about having screen presence.  Before he ever said a word I picked bit player Boyd Crowder out of the crowd.  Got me to thinking.  Is it possible that actor Walton Goggins could play any role other than a lovable ol' psychopathic killer?  I haven't see all of his stuff by a long shot, and I never watched a minute of 90210; but I bet "Mike Munchin" was dealing crank and deflowering young ladies in the 10th grade.  Here's a list.

So you can feel good.  For a while, anyway The NYPD's crackdown on subway fare-beaters draws the ire of Reverend (Al Sharpton), a local African-American church leader, who accuses Frank of only targeting black neighborhoods. When Jamie and Renzulli enter his church on an armed robbery call, they're assaulted by (Sharpton's ) security team and barred from entering. Frank is angered when Mayor Poole wants him to give special lenience to Potter, even as the reverend continues to stir up racial tension and play to the press. ­ I previously stated that after watching a Blue Bloods episode I  (WE) always feel  good.  We watched this last night. Baltimore's Mayor missed it.

BALTIMORONS The news out of Baltimore is coming fast and furious, and pretty much all of it is enraging to anyone with an ounce of sanity. In other words, only conservatives and other racists. We're now being told that Freddie Gray's autopsy results do not indicate that the police were to blame, but rather that his life-ending injuries were either self-inflicted or (possible but less likely) the secondary result of a seizure. Which makes it all the more unacceptable that the mayor of Baltimore gave the violent rioters "space to destroy," and not only told the police to stand down and "let them loot," but also ordered the police not to wear items of protective riot gear which could cause "bad optics." Which is why some 100 officers were injured, property was destroyed, and buildings and stolen cars were set ablaze. Yeah, those are great optics, madam mayor. Now we're being told that these terrorizing miscreants, who were acting with neither cause nor control, are all good kids who are just frustrated because, according to Barack Obama, we haven't nurtured them with enough federal money. And most importantly, they shouldn't be called "thugs" because it might be code for the dreaded n-word.  Which, frankly, we consider to be an n-sult to our n-telligence. UPDATE: the Baltimore cops in the Freddie Gray case are now being charged with murder, manslaughter, and myriad other offenses. None of the charges are related to actually inflicting injuries to Freddie Gray. Rather, the charges are based on the accusation that the police failed to secure Gray with a seat belt during transport, and failed to render timely medical aid after he had requested it.  BUT WAIT!  There's MORE! When words fail us, satire steps to the plate! Stilton Jarlsberg  is our  Jonathan Swift.

GRANOLA Chopping the almonds by hand is the first choice for superior texture and crunch. If you prefer not to hand chop, substitute an equal quantity of slivered or sliced almonds. (A food processor does a lousy job of chopping whole nuts evenly.) Use a single type of your favorite dried fruit or a combination. Do not use quick oats. INGREDIENTS 1/3 cup maple syrup 1/3 cup packed (2 1/3 ounces) light brown sugar 4 teaspoons vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup vegetable oil 5 cups old-fashioned rolled oats 2 cups (10 ounces) raw almonds, chopped coarse 2 cups raisins or other dried fruit, chopped INSTRUCTIONS 1. Adjust oven rack to upper-middle position and heat oven to 325 degrees. Line rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. 2. Whisk maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla, and salt in large bowl. Whisk in oil. Fold in oats and almonds until thoroughly coated. 3. Transfer oat mixture to prepared baking sheet and spread across sheet into thin, even layer (about 3/8 inch thick). Using stiff metal spatula, compress oat mixture until very compact. Bake until lightly browned, 40 to 45 minutes, rotating pan once halfway through baking. Remove granola from oven and cool on wire rack to room temperature, about 1 hour. Break cooled granola into pieces of desired size. Stir in dried fruit. (Granola can be stored in airtight container for up to 2 weeks.) Saw this on ATK awhile back.  While I was at the Giant yesterday I noticed they were selling little bags of this for $6-$9 a pop.  Thus inspired to take it to the man, I made it.  I cannot tell you how good this is, but MoSup wants to: WIFE: "Land-a- Goshen but this is good!" Here's the best part.  It took all of 5 minutes to make and put in the oven.  40 minutes bake time, I think, is better than 45. Here the on-line recipe.  It made 2 pounds, or as host Christopher Kimball said, "$80 worth!" You're welcome.

PREFACE: It's been my theory that because the media have promoted, protected and advanced the Democrat Party agenda for so long, any ability their advocates once had for rational thinking and  debate have atrophied beyond repair.  This revelation occurred while watching a give and take on the newly created Fox News.  Some Democrat, guesting I think on Fox and Friends, had his misstatement of fact thrown back in his face.  The look on his face was one of utter, "deer in headlights" astonishment.  Really.  This had never happened before.  Nobody had ever called him out for a lie.  In quick order, of course, FOX NEWS got the full Alinskey.  In just a few months core, mind numbed Democrats had been convinced that FOX NEWS was  a radical right-wing attack on the established order;  not to be trusted, believed, nor watched.  TODAY It's been a long time since I bothered to clock-in at Democrat.COM.  They hold a special place in my heart because someone on the site once dismissed a factual argument I made because I "was a paid Republican operative."  I never see them referenced anywhere, but they're still on my working menu. Individual Rights. Because individuals are moral agents, they have a right to be secure in their life, liberty, and property. These rights are not granted by government or by society; they are inherent in the nature of human beings. It is intuitively right that individuals enjoy the security of such rights; the burden of explanation should lie with those who would take rights away. So property rights are pretty darn important to libertarians like Rand Paul, right? [BUT no one else?] In fact, Rand Paul got into deep doodoo over property rights and the Civil Rights Act when he argued Southern restaurant owners had the right to refuse to serve lunch to blacks if they wanted. I don't like the idea of telling private business owners — I abhor racism. I think it’s a bad business decision to exclude anybody from your restaurant — but, at the same time, I do believe in private ownership. So given the importance of property rights, it was a pretty serious betrayal of those rights when Rand Paul stole Warner Music's music copyright to "Shuttin Detroit Down." How do you deal with that ... enhanced water?  Answer: You can't.

OUR WORLD WAR Our World War - Episode 1 by limukohou I was, I think, 2-3 years-old when my recently widowed Mom came home early from work and took me to see, for some mysterious reason, a WWI war movie.  Maybe to experience something of what my late dad had experience at the Bulge?   I remember this because I later had my first ever nightmare. In the dream there were looped visions of great, huge, sepia toned balloons rolling around in sepia colored mud. It recurred several times, and I never associated it with the movie.  It wasn't until 40 years later, or so, that I was watching an old WWI war movie and BANG.  There was my nightmare.  The giant bubbles were great boxy tanks rolling over trenches.  Mud and dirt and smoke.  I've later tried to find that movie again,  but no. Anyway, I was a WWII guy with little interest in the Great War.  It's only recently that I, and it seems the world, have developed a fascination for The Great War.  This first episode of the  BBC's OUR WORLD WAR may be the best.  Certainly there are none more innovative.  On Netflix and others.

Blue Bloods ... a 2010 era cop drama with 1950 values. Five stars. The series BLUE BLOODS follows the Irish-American Reagan family of police officers with the New York City Police Department (NYPD). Francis "Frank" Reagan (Selleck) is the Police Commissioner. He was a U.S. Marine Corps officer and a Vietnam veteran before he joined the NYPD. He is a 9/11 First Responder, a widower whose son Joe was murdered in the line of duty, and has three other adult children—Danny, Erin, and Jamie. All the women are hot. Looking for the next dinner hour series we found Blue Bloods.  It's a CBS series which explains why I'd never heard of it. I no longer watch anything raw on the "Peoples Networks."  The 5th (and evidently last) season just ended, so there are lots of episodes.  After the first few episodes MoSup was hooked.  Me?  I thought it a little too, I don't know, bland?  However, as usually happens with a new series the writers expand personalities and tweak the characters. I've always liked Tom Selleck and Donnie ( Mark too) Wahlberg so there's that.  Anyway, here's what I'll say.  After episode 4 or 5 I noticed that I could not remember an instance where Blue language was used. None.  Which meant I hadn't missed it at all. I also noticed that I  felt good after we watched our nightly two episodes. I felt at home with them.
