Norm McDonald's Col. Sanders

Res Ipsa Loquitur

Who is the real Colonel Sanders, anyway?

Darrell Hammond out, Norm Macdonald in.

Wieden + Kennedy (agency) shook up the musty image of Col. Harland Sanders in its first work for KFC back in May, with Hammond being memorably off-kilter—both reverent and tongue-in-cheek—as the chicken chain's founder. But now, the campaign gets even more ambitious in its oddness, and stakes much more meta territory, by replacing Hammond with Norm Macdonald, who claims in four new ads that Hammond was an imposter.
Check out the spots here, which sell the new $20 Family Fill Up meal:

I takes me pleasures wherever I can find them these days, and Norm McDonald's Col. Sanders is one.  I rank Norm McDonald in the the top 5 ever SNL cast members.  Here's some reasons why. .
Macdonald's version of Weekend Update often included repeated references to prison rape, crack whores and the Germans' love of Baywatch star David Hasselhoff. Macdonald would occasionally deliver a piece of news, then take out his personal compact tape recorder and leave a "note to self" relevant to what he just discussed. He commonly used Frank Stallone as a non sequitur punchline. Macdonald repeatedly ridiculed public figures such as Marion Barry, Michael Jackson and O. J. Simpson. Throughout Simpson's trial for murder, Macdonald constantly pilloried the former football star, often heavily implying Simpson was guilty of the brutal slaying of his wifeNicole and her friend Ronald Goldman. In the broadcast following Simpson's acquittal, Macdonald opened Weekend Update by saying: "Well, it is finally official: murder is legal in the state of California."

During the February 24, 1996, episode, Macdonald made a controversial joke about the sentencing of John Lotter, one of the two men who committed the notorious murder of Brandon Teena: "In Falls City, Nebraska, John Lotter has been sentenced to death for attempting to kill three people in what prosecutors called a plot to silence a cross-dressing female who had accused him of rape. Now this might strike some viewers as harsh, but I believe everyone involved in this story 'deserved to die'."

After the announcement that Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley planned to divorce, Macdonald joked about their irreconcilable differences on Weekend Update: "She's more of a stay-at-home type, and he's more of a homosexual pedophile." He followed this up a few episodes later with a report about the singer's collapse and hospitalization. Referring to a report of how Jackson had decorated his hospital room with giant photographs of Shirley Temple, Macdonald remarked that viewers should not get the wrong idea, adding, "Michael Jackson is a homosexual pedophile." The joke elicited audible gasps from some audience members. He responded to this by saying, "What? He is a homosexual pedophile."

Macdonald's time with Saturday Night Live effectively ended in late 1997, when he was fired from the Weekend Update segment upon the insistence of NBC West Coast Executive Don Ohlmeyer, who pressured the producers to remove him, explaining that Macdonald was "not funny." Some believe that Don Ohlmeyer's friendship with O.J. Simpson — a celebrity whom Macdonald often antagonized on the show — may have fueled Ohlmeyer's decision ... (WIKI)

RECYCLE YOUR KOTEX! A CONTEST

Mad Men Run Amok -    BLOODY HELL!

I thought this was a spoof ad, but no.  Saw it while watching Armando Montelongo (who astounds me).  Anyway, the copy goes..

Dear POISE. Women are using period pads for pee. I said pee.

What if Women took those period pads and turned them into something awesome?

HOW WOULD YOU RECYCLE YOUR PERIOD PAD?

My first thought was brake pads. Too flimsy.

SHARK CHUM!
What will your entry be?  It'll have to be pretty damn good to beat what I finally came up with (under the beer can rollover.)

The whole idea is pretty stupid, but then I'm really out of touch. For instance, this is an actual Bud Light beer can that touts it will (girls)"remove 'NO' from your vocabulary."  I'm thinking the same agency is responsible for the pad abortion.

Obama hates this idea!

Mad Men You Know!
Gee Mom! It's UPSY DOODLE!

She meant Upsy Doodle
Okay, this invention is self explanatory because ALL OF YOU have experienced the problem of getting the last gooey stuff out of jars.  Not only that, some foods like natural peanut butter have oil that rises
to the top.  Right?  And no matter how much you stir it you end up eating all the oil before even half the  peanut butter is gone and the rest is dry as a 5 day old dog turd.  Am I right?

Well this idea, like penicillin, is so simple that it's a wonder nobody has discovered it until now.  Am I right?  With a lid at both ends you can just oopsy doodle
©™ it for easy access, or maintain proper balance of oils and emollients, and save hundreds of dollars a year in the process!

I'm hoping all of you will help me create a buzz at GMA (Grocery Mfrs of Amer) meetings by asking store managers why they don't have stuff in the Upsy-Doodle©™ Jars?   Thank you.
