“ The Next Shoe to Drop in Residential Lending: FHA?
If you're fine with the premise that bankers, left to their own devices, hunger to make loans to people with no yob, no credit, and no way, then  this  new-age journalism piece at  HuffPo may be read breathlessly.

The 2 million+ -- whom neighbors described as "wonderful people who paid taxes and coached little league --"who lynched several hundred congressmen yesterday, remain an enigma - aka Crazy in Copenhagen.
Even if the U.S. doesn’t sign a new ‘Kyoto II’ agreement in Copenhagen next week, the U.S. Congress is considering legislation to constrain American life to the tune of more than a household spends on groceries every year for eight years.

Did I say new-age journalism?
Despite mounting evidence that key climate researchers were less than honest, and other indications that the science is not science at all, 56 newspapers agreed to run the same front page page editorial yesterday, 'Fourteen days to seal history's judgment on this generation'

Lots of contenders for Blago's old job are making conservative noises.

Democrats campaign against Obama's Afghan surge
In Massachusetts, all of the Democrats running in a special primary to fill Sen. Edward M. Kennedy's seat oppose the surge, as do the two top Democrats fighting for the nomination for Ohio's U.S. Senate seat in 2010.What would the New York Times call this if was Republicans campaigning against Bush?   A Party in Disarray, maybe?

When I read this Mary Landrieu story [Landrieu to Flip-Flop on Abortion-Funding], I went over to Smoking Gun to see if she was among the 28 busted hookers who advertised their services on Craig's List.  But, reading the header info told me the highest priced among them cost $800, and Mattress Back gets 300 million to go down for Harry Reid.  Oh --  I see they're all from Florida. Never mind.

Update:  I tried to find the ones who were getting $800.  Having never availed myself, are prices beginning at $150 in line?

Government by Wishful Thinking

Something about trees

Curmudgeonly & Skeptical

Theres a bit of philosophical discussion at the O Club as we speak.  It concerns "Government by Wishful Thinking." by Steven den Beste.  To wit, is he  "wrong on the use of teleology as an ontology in the realm of metaphysics - even though he correctly identifies materialism as a valid metaphysical ontology."

Right.  But that's only my segue into this delightful compound limerick from Old Spook.
“ So no, its not teleology, it is idealism that Obama subscribes to, like Hegel, one of his socialist philosophical forebears.

This limerick shows that idealism requires either magical thinking or else the existence of an omnipresent God as an observer: (Attributed to Knox or anonymous, variously)

There once was a man who said
"God Must find it exceedingly odd
To think that the tree
Should continue to be
When there's no one about in the quad."

Dear Sir:
Your astonishment's odd;
I am always about in the quad.
And that's why the tree
Will continue to be
Since observed by,
Yours faithfully, God.

“   The Obama administration is expected as early as Monday to formally declare carbon dioxide a dangerous pollutant.

An "endangerment" finding by the Environmental Protection Agency could pave the way for the government to require businesses that emit carbon dioxide and five other greenhouse gases to make costly changes in machinery to reduce emissions -- even if Congress doesn't pass pending climate-change legislation. EPA action to regulate emissions could affect the U.S. economy more directly, and more quickly, than any global deal inked in the Danish capital, where no binding agreement is expected. - Stroke of the pen .  [Business Fumes Over Carbon Dioxide Rule]

OK-LAHOMA!

An update from Oklahoma

  • Oklahoma law passed, 37 to 9, had a few liberals in the mix, an amendment to place the Ten Commandments on the front entrance to the state capitol.  Hey this is a conservative state, based on Christian values...!    The feds in D.C., along with the ACLU, said it would be a mistake.  HB 1330

Guess what.......... Oklahoma did it anyway.

  • Oklahoma recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from unless they want to get a green card and become an American citizen.  They all scattered.  HB 1804.  Hope we didn't send any of them to your state.  This was against the advice of the Federal Government, and the ACLU, they said  it would be a mistake.

Guess what........... Oklahoma did it anyway.

  • Recently we passed a law to include DNA samples from any and all illegals to the Oklahoma database, for criminal investigative purposes.  Pelosi said it was unconstitutional.   SB 1102

Guess what........ Oklahoma   did it anyway.

  • Several weeks ago, we passed a law, declaring Oklahoma as a Sovereign state, not under the Federal Government directives.  Joining  Texas, Montana and Utah as the only states to do so.  More states are likely to follow:  Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, the Carolina's, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, Mississippi, Florida.  Save your confederate money, it appears the South is about to rise up once again.  HCR 1928 Liberals didn't like it --  But ...
Guess what........... Oklahoma did it anyway.

  • The federal Government has made bold steps to take away our guns.  Oklahoma, a week ago, passed a law confirming people in this state have the right to bear arms and transport them in their vehicles.  I'm sure that was a set back for the criminals (and Obamaites).  Liberals didn't like it --  But ...
Guess what........... Oklahoma did it anyway.

Obama does not like any of this.  Guess what....who cares... Oklahoma is doing it anyway. Flip this Captain Zero

Smelly Rugs

Something Wonderful This Way Comes
A story of travail, suffering, and finally joy

Bissell 7350 PROdry Fast-Drying Carpet Cleaner
With Reagan the Wonder Dog's departure *sniff* came the job of deciding whether our two oriental rugs were salvageable, and how to go about it?  The rug in worst shape was from the den (top roll over), where I rule.  Whatever it was that caused her to lose all bladder control, lo those last 9 months, made her urine smell become progressively worse until *gasp* - I relented and it too went into stinky storage.   MoSup had rolled-up the living room rug months ago, so it was spared the god awful stuff,  and was returned to duty in quick order.

A neighbor happened to relate a rug cleaning nightmare of her own to MoSup.  She had hired a professional cleaner to rid carpet pet smell.  He failed at everything but presenting a bill.  Then, her sister who had worked for a rug retailer said that what they used was Windex with a surface washing.  We figured our rugs would cost somewhere between $400-600 with a professional, so what the hell - let's try it. Then. a serendipitous moment.

WindexMoSup suggested that she sure would like the Bissell cleaner they were demonstrating on Home Shopping.  That's her way of saying, "buy it for me."  Placed the order on the spot.  Ladies and gentlemen, I am here to tell you that this is the greatest money we ever spent!  We usually rent a grocery store cleaner, but they pump out so much water that our orientals actually started to shrink.  This Bissell surface-sprays, then sucks up all the water.  It took a few days of using Woolite Pet Urine remover and Windex, but I'll be damned if the den rug isn't bright as hell, and utterly orderless now.

I do kinda miss the Reagan smell .  MoSup does not.

You're welcome.
