Let's be a litle more proactive

Today's Brilliant Idea

100,000 votes would have sent Pelosi packing.  Are you thinking what I'm thinking?   Beginning now, we begin quietly registering in Cali District 8.  No, you don't have to live there, and a park bench will suffice as a home address.  Then, before the 2010 off-year election, we get absentee ballots, and presto!  She'll never know what hit her.  You'll have to forfeit your vote back home, though - we're not law breakers.   It's patriotic for another reason.  Like when the democrats went nuts with the special prosecutor law?  It wasn't until they were hoist on that petard themselves that they got rid of it. They'll look at ACORN a bit differently after we use it to cut them down. So, who's in?

PS -- After I pasted some Charles Manson features on that whack job Sheehan, it struck me that she actually looks better.  Not so pasty.  What do you think?

Minister Farrakhan's Million Jew March

Obama received 95% of the Black vote, second only to the 100% from Alzheimer's patients bussed to the polls by ACORN.  Close behind were Jews, who gave Obama 78%, more than the 74% Kerry received in 2004.  One can understand the incentive for Blacks. No more rent, or car payments is  tough to pass up.  But Jews? I went to the National Jewish Democratic Council  for an answer.

“ Election after election for the last 36 years, Republicans have persisted in asserting that their nominee would gain a significant portion of Jewish vote. Supporters of Senator John McCain engaged in an unprecedented anti-Obama campaign in the Jewish community. After spending millions of dollars on an ad campaign filled with misinformation and absolute lies, it appears that Jewish Republicans once again could not sway Jewish voters from supporting Obama. ”

Well they sure snookered us this time.  With Vice-president Joe Biden (with his decades of foreign policy experience) dealing with Hamas, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and Minister Farrakhan, what could go wrong for Jews?  Boy do I feel stupid.

I'm trying to figure out why Georgia hasn't yet been ceded to McCain?  Is it because the media know there are 250,000 uncounted ACORN ballots out there, that they can't find?  Maybe the guy who was supposed to deliver them is passed out in some De Kalb County bar?   THIS IS NOT OVER!  Send in the Lawyers!

Republican Intellectual Elite My Ass

I love being lectured to by fu**-ups.

“ Complicating the coming fight is a widening gap between the party's grass-roots activists and its intellectual elite. Gov. Palin sits squarely in the center of the debate. Embraced by many social conservatives in the party's base, she was dismissed by some party leaders, including some former government officials who endorsed Democrat Barack Obama. Activists see her as the party's future, others as a novice whose at-times shaky performance has doomed her prospects -- a split reflected in polls that showed her popularity dropping during the general election, but her supporters' enthusiasm high. [WSJ]
.
This is just too much.  I propose that "party leaders (Scott McClellan?!)" who endorsed Obama, aren't.  "Intellectual elite?"  Nobody who endorsed Obama deserves inclusion in Intellectual anything.  Not unless those flibbertigibbets can cut through the Gordian Knot - what accomplishment was  it that recommended Obama to them as president?  It was they who ignored every honest Pat Toomey that came along, in favor of the "moderate" Arlen Sphinter equivalent.  It was they who gave us John McCain!

Dismissing Sarah Palin as a "populist," is too cute.  And therein lies the prollem.  These slugs can no longer tell the difference between Ronald Reagan and Joe Biden. At this moment in time Sarah Palin is the titular head of the Republican Party, and deniers do so at the risk of being the next Chuck Hagel.

Today's Does Not Compute

Alear has been watching returns from the State of Ohio's election site, and what the state is reporting does not square with what the media are reporting.  Earlier Lindas Sue noted the same thing was occuring in Florida.  (it's now BHO49.43% JM 48.90%)

“ I like this picture of Sarah Palin voting. Heavy on the Caribou, light on the Barbie. She didn't need to be dunked in RNC bling. And the more the campaign went on and the more she wiggled free of her minders, the better she sounded. If you've got organic style, you shouldn't be shoehorned into generic campaign issue. If the night goes the way it seems to be heading, the differences between the Governor and the campaign will be one of the most interesting parts of the GOP post-mortem. [Mark Steyn]

Election Erection Directions

Big Poll With a Push Fan

Click on a state in the election map and get a county breakdown.  Obama is running as much as 11% below exit polls in some areas.  PA is crucial for McCain, but has been called for Obama.  The question is, did their sample districts make assumptions based on past elections that may not hold true anymore - i.e. - Western PA?

Get Over It?

What If You Can't?

The Real Queen of France just volunteered that two things ruined her faith in our (the nation) ability to do the right thing.

  1. The OJ trial verdict
  2. Marion Barry's election in DC  after he was released from prison.
My own moment of disillusionment came after Rep. Adam Clayton Powell (D Harlem) stopped the movement in the House to expel him (a second time), by threatening to squeal on them.

What was your splash of cold water - if any?

EXIT POLLS

Exit Poll Crap

The purpose of exit polls is to discover why voters voted the way they did, and traditionally Democrats will answer the questions,  Republicans not.   Gawker has the complete exit polls ... these are meaningless, but their release is calculated to suppress the R vote and instill fear (remember 2004).  I guarantee these are not close to the actual vote count.

Two Tribes?   [Lisa Schiffren]

Late last week results of early voting by expat American Jews in Israel were released, with John McCain winning about 70% of the votes. This has something to with the reality factor, when your personal house is in the line of fire of Iran's half-built nukes. And it has something to do with the fact that the majority of Jewish immigrants to Israel from the U.S. over the past two decades have been Orthodox, of one stripe or another. Social and religious values dictate conservative politics among Orthodox Jews as among the religious of most Christian denominations.

So, today I was at the Modern Orthodox day school my fourth and fifth grade children attend, to participate in part of the election day program, which included the traditional mock election. Let's assume that all of these kids voted the way their parents — or their more vocal parent, in split homes — vote. When the principal announced that the winner was John McCain the auditorium went wild. And it was a blowout — 73% for McCain.

As Linda Sue has pointed out, religious Jews are significantly more patriotic than Hollywood/Manhattan Jews, so we'll see what happens at the heathen level, but this is good news.

“ I'm a student at Carleton College who has contributed (financially and with my time) to the Obama campaign. I just got an automated call from Jeff Blodgett, the chair of the MN campaign. The text of the call was:

"Hello, this is Jeff Blodgett from the Minnesota for Obama campaign. Our initial data shows this election is significantly closer than the polls predicted. We are putting out an urgent call for volunteers... We are organized groups to knock on doors at five P.M., or earlier if you can, for our final GOTV operation." This was followed by different numbers to call based on your residence. [Atlantic Blog]

“ I’ve checked my email, and I have over a hundred new messages. And I can’t get to anything resorting to ‘Sean Malstrom’ due to real life situations. Luckily I changed my career gears long ago. But my old profession of political analysis is going to be absolutely destroyed. I still think McCain will win the election and do so by a larger margin than Bush did in 2004. When this happens, a hurricane of outrage will be unleashed at the political analysis business, mostly the pollsters. People will demand to know how they could be so off. In other words, the future of the political analysis business will be destroyed as their reputation will become destroyed in the upcoming days. ”

Four Reasons McCain Will Win

Four Reasons

“

For what it is worth, here is why John McCain just might pull it out today, or at least tomorrow morning: 1) The new Battleground Poll has him down by 1.9 percentage points, 2) internal McCain polls show him gaining fast or leading in key states, 3) the stock market is up today, 4) Karl Rove picked Obama.

...and in regard to Rove...

...he simply took averages of the latest polls and assigned states based on who led. Not a very sophisticated approach for one of the pioneers the use of internal research to engineer of strategic "breaks" among undecideds.

Today's Lottery Dream

In some ways the next few hours will be my best in some time.  Other than voting, there's nothing else I can do to save the Union, so I have a billion dollar  lottery ticket in my wallet.  Until tonight I can dream the dream.

McCain wins in a blow-out, and his coattails save enough Senate seats that Vice President Palin casts the deciding vote making Mitch McConnell the Majority Leader.  Nancy Pelosi loses her seat to the buffoon Cindy Sheehan, and Republicans pick up 72 House seats. I TIVO every network's election coverage, and turn them into an award winning documentary comedy that makes me rich. This is America.  That's my dream.

Murtha's Grenade

Today's Mirth-a
I've enjoyed being on the same side with Democrats for McCain, but this from No Quarter, a stalwart defender of American freedom during this time of crisis, reminds me that, well, they're still democrats.

In 2004 Kerry won Allegheny, and outlying counties, by slim margins:
Allegheny: 96,987

Beaver: 2,230
Washington: 552
Fayette: 4,075
That’s 103,844 votes. Leaving a margin of 40,044 votes in the 2004 totals.

There is one reason and one reason only that Kerry took these counties: Tereza Heinz-Kerry. Knowing this, Obama tried to trot her out in the run-up to the Pennsylvania primary. Her lack of enthusiasm for the candidate was pretty obvious. Obama has no such connection. In fact, the one thing he had going for him in the area, John Murtha, decided to pick the scab off the bitter/cling incident by calling his constituents racists, and then rednecks. Personally I think Murtha fell on a grenade, potentially ending his political career to prevent Obama from getting into the White House.
”
Murtha, who was saved from a prison term by virtue of listening to his radio while driving to pick up his bribe, and  learning that the Feds were making Abscam arrests in time to turn-around. Murtha who slandered the Haditha Marines. Murtha, an ass-kissing toad of Nancy Pelosi, the worst House Speaker in American history? Falling on a real grenade would be the first patriotic thing he's done in 40 years. Other than that, pretty good summation.  I like this part.

“ And lay off the conscientious abstainers. They have made their decision based on their ethics. Respect it. If, in the privacy of the voting booth they have a change of heart, they will do that without being cajoled by us (my entire immediate family is voting for Pampers, guess how that feels?). Now, on to Pennsylvania. ”

I know how it feels, being in virtually the same boat. I could drink beer with this No Quarters guy.

OBAMA HAS TO WIN BY A LANDSLIDE
OR NOBODY WILL BELIEVE HE WON

Meet Mantreh Atashband   ...
“  ...  an Obama field organizer in North Carolina. She registered to vote in Mecklenburg County, NC on October 4. According to county auditor reports, the address Minwalla used belongs to a Wanda Nabors. But oddly – Minwalla is also registered to vote in New York AND Nevada. All three registrations are listed as active. So, is she a resident of North Carolina, Nevada or New York? Technically, it appears she could vote in all three.

Minwalla’s online bio for NextGenNow says she is currently pursuing a degree in English and Journalism in New York City. As recently as July, Minwalla wrote a review for a band in Brooklyn, but now she’s registered to vote in swing state North Carolina.

Whatever else you think about it, you have to admit that the predicted last minute media poll foot-shuffling is running right on schedule.   Take this AP story --
“

Can Obama win popular vote but lose election?

Sure, chances of Republicans retaining the White House are remote.

But some last-minute state polls show the GOP nominee closing the gap in key states — Republican turf of Virginia, Florida and Ohio among them, and Democratic-leaning Pennsylvania, too.

If the tightening polls are correct and undecided voters in those states break McCain's way — both big ifs — that could make for a repeat of the 2000 heartbreaker for Democrats that gave Republicans the White House.

”
How about, "can he lose both the popular vote AND the election?"  Yes.  Yes he can do both, depending on how many GOP voters are tired of it all, and will just stay home.  I personally would enjoy watching a huge lynching party of media punkdom  One that would require a National Park's worth of tree branches to handle the crowd.

Marsden-RKOF Polls

THE MCCAIN-PALIN LANDSLIDE
McCain-Palin 309 Obama-Biden 229.

Texas Darlin' is certainly a worker bee. I've been fascinated by the PUMA campaign to elect McCain, because as hard core, high profile Hillary supporters, they know their way around alleys and side streets I've never heard of, and would prolly hesitate to venture into.  This most recent boost deals with the number of PUMAs it will take to win enough battleground states electoral votes to forestall a communist takeover.
“

The P.U.M.A. Factor.

Paul Marston, an elections expert, is staking his 45-year reputation on a public prediction that McCain-Palin will win, based on an analysis that assumes the major pollsters are ignoring the PUMA Factor.

At 2pm ET Monday, Paul Marston made his latest prediction:

Ohio, Virginia, Nevada, and Pennsylvania have edged back up slightly, but are still below the average from two days ago. North Carolina is now a tie and RCP now shows it for McCain-Palin on the no toss up map. The big news is that Florida has come down drastically from 4.2 to 2.5 and is bound to go for McCain-Palin. The stunning news is that Minnesota is coming on like gangbusters. The kind of movement would indicate that Minnesota is quite likely to go for McCain. I will up my prediction from a 42 to a 52 electoral votes margin pending further data.

Marston’s blog is fascinating. Read it all at Marston Chronicles.

”
I don't know who Paul Marston is, so I did some snooping.  AJStrata [The Strata-Sphere] also picked up on it, and 'splains things good.
“

For example, Paul Marston shows Ohio needs to see 103,788 PUMA voters for McCain-Palin to win. Let’s put some error bars on that and say it is +/- 20%, which gives a conservative estimate of 124,456. Now I have no idea if Mr. Marston's calculations are correct - none. I am not vouching for his math.

Now let’s look at this year’s Democrat Primary in Ohio and see how many people voted for Hillary - and we find it is 1,207,806. 10% of this number is 120,780, which is about how much Mr. Marston claims can put McCain over the top. OK, that seems like it might be in the ballpark because Obama lost Ohio pretty badly to Mrs Clinton.

”
Interestingly enough - the Marston prediction exactly replicates the Barn Army Poll
10-31-2008
I released on Saturday.  Marston has his record of success; I have mine.  I am able to go grocery shopping with MoSup, and at the check-out she'll ask, "How much will this come to," and I'll answer within $5, and sometimes dead-on.  So, that's that.  McCain wins.  I'm going out to buy some bullets.

IBD/TIPP: Race Tightens, McCain Surges

November 2, 2008 by texasdarlin

“

A Statistical Tie.

The most reliable pollster from the 2004 Presidential Election reports:

McCain takes a 14-point lead with men!

McCain takes a 16-point lead among rural voters!

McCain takes the lead in the Age 25-44 Category!

The race tightened again Sunday as independents who’d been leaning to Obama shifted to McCain to leave that key group a toss-up. McCain also pulled even in the Midwest, moved back into the lead with men, padded his gains among Protestants and Catholics, and is favored for the first time by high school graduates.

”
Check out this Gerald Nadler video too.  "Obama didn't have the political courage to make a statement and walk out." [of Reverend Wright's racist church]

Obama Enforcers

Let's Play "Who's the Nazi?"

“

First, a 20-year-old College Station woman was convicted in Pittsburgh of faking a story about volunteering for John McCain and getting attacked by a tall African-American Obama supporter.

She won’t be coming home to the heart of Aggieland anytime soon. A court ordered Ashley Todd into mental treatment.

Now, a Texas A&M student group known as the class clowns of conservatism has staged a stunt that even their own faculty adviser calls "really dumb."

I love the way the Star-Telegram's  Bud Kennedy sets the Ashley Todd-conservative Aggies predicate for his story.  Pretty subtle, eh wot?
An Aggie student group held an "Anti-Obama Carnival — with the Soviet hammer and sickle added inside the "O" in Obama."  Patrons were offered an opportunity to egg a poster of Obama, but some students didn't like it, so in true Obama-trooper fashion they shut it down.
“

A surly student crowd saw them smearing Obama’s photo Wednesday with dozens of spattered eggs and surrounded the Rudder Plaza "carnival" to scramble it with more free speech.

According to photos and descriptions posted on the Web, a football player identified by other students as 6-foot-4 Aggies lineman Paul Freeney blocked the shelled photo of Obama.

”
A college professor at Northern Kentucky University, upset by crosses displayed by a campus right-to life-group,  urged her students "to express their freedom-of-speech rights to destroy the display if they wished to.”  The same thing happened last month on another campus. Cute, huh?  Your Second First Amendment rights allow you to trample my Second First Amendment rights. This is what happens to your kids when you send them to college. How very ... Stalinist.

An outfit named No More Stolen Elections! is petitioning that the UN be allowed to oversee our election so the right person wins this time.
“ A coalition of U.S. pro-democracy organizations today petitioned the members of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations for international election observers for the upcoming U.S. presidential election. Coalition representatives today visited the U.S. Embassies of ECOSOC member nations New Zealand, Brazil, Uruguay, Bolivia, France, United Kingdom, and Sweden, and plan to visit ECOSOC offices in New York City tomorrow to request election observers to document violations of American voting rights, ....

“ U.S. elections remain undemocratic and rife with voting rights violations, and international election observers are needed.” said Ben Manski, executive director of the pro-democracy group, Liberty Tree.

The petition points to international covenants, conventions and the Declaration for Human Rights itself as a basis for supporting the right of U.S. citizens to freely choose their president and their right to seek international assistance. ..."
”
Taking a cue from Jimmy Carter, they tried this in 2004. Here's a list of who these people are, by the way. The names of Bill Ayers and Barack Obama would complete this who's who of America hating radicals.

But wait!

This isn't the only indication that this year's Democrats are hell-bent on causing riots if they lose. This outfit of misfits wants Obama to pledge that he will not accept defeat at the polls.
“ Gore Vidal Signs Open Letter to Obama Urging Him Not to Concede Even If He Loses

If Barack Obama loses the election, will he graciously concede? According to an open letter signed by author Gore Vidal and a gaggle of leftists, Obama should not concede under almost any conditions.
”
At the risk of sounding intemperate, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that we'll one day have to shoot it out with these people in an act of national self defense.

End game, poll-wise

Today's Poll Smack

I pulled this from Volokh
“
Polls:

Today's polls released so far show everything from a 47-45% Obama lead (well within the margin of error), with 8% undecided, in the TIPP poll, to a 52-43-5 result in the "Gallup expanded." The CBS and ABC News polls, so far the most favorable to Obama, aren't out for today. So the polls are predicting everything from an Obama blowout to a tossup, perhaps leaning McCain (if, as most observers seem to expect, the undecideds break at least 2-1 in McCain's favor).

Overall, the picture is of a comfortable victory for Obama, but if the pollsters are wrong in their assumptions about turnout (will young people turn out now that the Iraq War has faded from the scene? Will Sarah Palin bring out a higher turnout of conservatives than expected? Will African Americans vote in unprecedented numbers, as expected?) and voter party i.d. (Rasmussen, for example, who has Obama up 51-46, is assuming 39% to 33% favoring the Democrats), it could turn out to be either a huge Obama victory or a close race. One interesting datum: McCain seems to have made serious inroads in Pennsylvania, reducing a double-digit gap of a week ago into the mid-single digits. Very likely too little, too late, but something of a rebuke to the "experts" who claimed that McCain was foolishly wasting resources there.

UPDATE: FWIW, a reader points out that Clinton did three points better in the Pennsylvania primary that the Real Clear Politics average of polls had suggested. Most likely, the undecideds broke overwhelmingly for Clinton.

”
I have two serious quibbles with this otherwise sober analysis.
  1. Bradley Effect.  - While everyone talks about it, no poll takes it into consideration, nor can they.
  2. Internals v. Media - We had here a documented instance where Obama's internal polling (PA) showed him below 2%.  This at a time when media polls were showing him 11-15% ahead.  Rasmussen, Marist, et al, are  more thoroughly objective than Obama's own campaign polling? Nuh-uh.   A week later a" nervous" Gov. Rendell seemed to confirm it.  What effect did any of this have on media polls?  None. So why place stock in them at all?
On the negative side for McCain is his puny, if it exists at all, get out the vote machine. He should have paid Rove $20M - if that's what it took - to get that into shape.  If moderate Republican voters do vote, however, and they have to be more brain dead than usual not to have at least one soul searing vision of impending Obama apocalypse not to be so motivated, then McCain wins. Period.

Oh. One more intangible.  God hates communists even worse than I.
