Barney Frank in trouble

“ U.S. Rep. Barney Frank - suddenly the target of an energized GOP and a hard-charging young opponent - has called in Bill Clinton for a Bubba Bailout in an apparent sign that one of the Bay State’s safest congressional seats may not be immune from voters’ throw-the-bums-out rage. Helen Thomas - MOOP

Helen Thomas's Lifetime Achievement

Thomas was fired by Hearst for this

Everybody has a lifetime achievement of some sort.  Helen Thomas's, in my view, is staying alive for 89 years, and staying employed  as an openly liberal biased White House correspondent, long before others of her ilk came out of the closet.  Did I mention famous Jew hater?  Her Lifetime Achievement Award will not be coming from UPI, where she was employed for many years (before leaving under her perceived threat of having her biases challenged by new owners),  but from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which associates in the U.S. have been indicted on terrorism-related charges. As Ann Coulter said on her site link to this story, "Who is this more embarrassing for?"  My answer is American Journalism.

I laugh at anything, once inappropriately during a scene in the movie Ghandi.   The one time I remember laughing aloud in public while reading a book was on a Denver bus.  I was reading the Patrick Dennis novel Little Me. I finally quit reading because people were looking at me with -- that look. Patrick Dennis, best known for Auntie Mame,  cracked me up.

Somebody at KompoZer took the open source Mozilla product, and made many improvements while leaving the same user interface.  Like finding old, comfortable shoes, and getting them spiffed up. Plus! “It is very much like 1964. In 1960, Republicans lost narrowly with an establishment candidate, Richard Nixon. They got to 1964, they threw out all the establishment candidates, they threw out their party leaders and they nominated Barry Goldwater who — fine man — but he was far to the right of most of the people in his party, and they lost in a landslide. And that’s why you have establishment Republicans worried about what’s going to happen now in November.”

“  ...    if I had to summon up Gitmo in a single image, it would be the brand-new copy of the Koran in each cell: To reassure incoming prisoners that the filthy infidels haven't touched the sacred book with their unclean hands, the Korans are hung from the walls in pristine, sterilized surgical masks. It's one thing for Muslims to regard infidels as unclean, but it's hard to see why it's in the interests of us infidels to string along with it and thereby validate their bigotry. What does that degree of prostration before their prejudices tell them about us? It’s a problem that Muslims think we’re unclean. It’s a far worse problem that we go along with it.  [Mark Steyn]

The Counter-Revolution Has Begun

The Counter-Revolution Has Begun

“ It took the GOP several decades to adjust to this state of affairs, but by the late 1950s, it had adapted a kind of modified "me too" stance, in which Republicans claimed to be able to achieve liberal social and political goals more cheaply, more effectively, and more in line with traditional values. This has been the strategy of the party's liberal wing from the Rockefeller Republicans through today's RINOs.
”

The Counter Revolution
J.R. Dunn's American Thinker piece sparkles with insights about what the Tea Party is, and the "counter-revoltion" that's begun. It is today's best article ever written.
“
  •  ... New York, divided as it is between an ultraliberal NYC and environs, and Mohawk Valley and adjacent mountain regions, in which the population has been reduced to a peasantry doing what they're told and voting the way they're supposed to. (This explains the election of Hillary, if you were wondering.)
  • ... the GOP elite, directly descended from the Rockefeller moderates, consistently steered the party back to the left. Congressional Republicans in large part were satisfied to remain a party of doppelganger Democrats, stifling any impulse for serious change. (A single example will suffice: In the midst of the Gingrich insurrection, with Bill Clinton on the ropes due to indiscretions with half the women on the East Coast, the best the GOP could come up with as an opponent was Robert Dole, Mr. Go-Along-to-Get-Along in the flesh.)
  • O'Donnell and Paladino may well fail --many of the candidates may fail in one way or another either before or after the elections. But it will make no difference in the long term. It's no longer a matter of counting seats, making compromises, and hustling deals; it is a matter of smashing a rotten, corrupt, and enervated system based on an errant and repellent view of human nature and replacing it with something perhaps not perfect, but at least in tune with our constitutional traditions, the political nature of this country's people, and the century we live in. The people are leading, and the politicians will follow -- or they will go to the wall.

It works as advertised.  I wirelessly streamed two Net-Flix movies last night, with nary a hiccup.  Supposedly you can add other sites, but I haven't tried.  Our goal is to use NetFlix to replace all our premium content channels, which will save us the $75 in a month. He has anointed my income with taxes,

Surely, poverty and hard living will follow me all the days of my life,

“
Two Comedy Central funnymen are apparently entering into the partisan political fray with rallies of their own in the nation’s capital.

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have set October 30 as the date for their respective rallies.

On Thursday night’s airing of “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart,” the comedian announced plans for a “Rally to Restore Sanity.”

“See you October 30 on the National Mall to spread the timeless message, ‘Take it down a notch for America,’ ” he said.
Stewart dubbed the event a “clarion call for rationality…”

On “The Colbert Report,” which airs immediately after Stewart’s show, Colbert fired back with plans for his “March to Keep Fear Alive.”

“Now is not the time to take it down a notch. Now is the time for all good men to freak out for freedom,” Colbert said…
cnn

MY THOUGHT -- Pocket liberals both;  John Stewart and Stephen Colbert (and every other Hollywood-type American) cringed over Glen Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally.  At the time, Stewart suggested a counter-rally, and this is it I guess.  The two are hugely popular with college kids, especially girls, so attendance ought to be respectable.   Of course this is more a USO type affair  (LSO- Liberal Service Organization in this case) than an expression of anything  meaningful.  Well, hatred is meaningful, but you know what I mean.  The media will swoon, crowds will be photo-chopped, and clips played endlessly. Liberals are about getting-even.

Anyway, my very impractical idea is this.  Everyone who showed  for Beck, comes to this deal with banners, signs and megaphones.  If the "jokes" being served-up  aren't deemed funny,  they get booed off the stage.  Ad hoc singing of patriotic songs and hymns abound. All done with eyes twinkling, of course. But, if the SIEU, Black Panthers, or other administration thugs show up, we  kill them.

Public Servants? LOL

How public servants became our masters

Boned Jello
“ In April 2008, The Orange County Register published a bombshell of an investigation about a license plate program for California government workers and their families. Drivers of nearly 1 million cars and light trucks—out of a total 22 million vehicles registered statewide—were protected by a “shield” in the state records system between their license plate numbers and their home addresses. There were, the newspaper found, great practical benefits to this secrecy.

“Vehicles with protected license plates can run through dozens of intersections controlled by red light cameras with impunity,” the Register’s Jennifer Muir reported. “Parking citations issued to vehicles with protected plates are often dismissed because the process necessary to pierce the shield is too cumbersome. Some patrol officers let drivers with protected plates off with a warning because the plates signal that drivers are ‘one of their own’ or related to someone who is.”

Maher explained to Jay Leno that places of worship are where “people go to retell nonsense stories from a time before men understood what a germ or an atom was, or where the sun went at night.”

Reaching out to what?

Tea Party Fights All-White Image

Here's yur "reaching out"
Boned Jello
“ The Tea Party movement has an image problem that it is urgently trying to change: It's viewed as a whites-only group. Washington Whispers
”
"Reaching out" in this context carries a supplicatory connotation; "Please, what must we do?"  In Lib-talk it means, "do what we want and we'll be friends."   Guy named Matt Kane (runs the Tea Party organizing group" called FreedomWorks) will not agree with me,  that the very thought of Teapartiers reaching out  pumps yellow bile into my throat.  Matt told Paul Bedard,  "We do need to reach out."  In fairness, Matt's idea of  reaching out was a new Web site , called "Diverse Tea," where minorities can share their stories of backing Tea Party candidates. That's better than putting reparations on the table; but a sterile, useless gesture nonetheless.

The Tea Party is a spontaneous movement, fueled by the raw feelings and emotions of millions of Americans who love this country; who have a sense of the history that made us a great people; and who want it all back. We despise the gatekeepers from both political parties who sold us out  We HATE socialism.  Hate it.

Let's be real here; thems what think things are just terrific; who love what today's government does to them, and want more of it! - well, they're not Teapartiers; not part of the process.  How do you reach out to people who don't share even fundamental values?  You can't; you don't try.  If we're successful, their children will have a chance at a decent education, and live in a free society though. They'll grow up to be Americans.

Sheesh.

Encouraging the lady to hide (and give up her career) and give up her life is cowardly on the part of the FBI. I would recommend the lady be given a special gun permit for her safety, one for a semi-automatic, and the lady should be given firearms training by the FBI. comment from BIG PEACE

Washington State has a carry law; no special permit required, but this is a disgrace.   Finding the source of the threats would require some "profiling, " and I think everyone in the room knows SMERSH is not going to investigate any crime carried out by protected ethnic groups.

Old Sea Story

“
Boned Jello
There's an old sea story about a ship's Captain who inspected his sailors, and afterward told the first mate that his men smelled bad. The Captain suggested perhaps it would help if the sailors would change underwear occasionally.  The first mate responded, "Aye, aye sir, I'll see to it immediately!" The first mate went straight to the sailors berth deck and announced, "The Captain thinks you guys smell bad and wants you to change your underwear." He continued, "Pittman, you change with Jones, McCarthy, you change with Witkowski, and Brown, you change with Schultz."
