Meet The Press

Not all overheated political rhetoric is alike. Delusional right-wing crazy talk -- the kind of ranting we've heard recently from washed-up rock star Ted Nugent and tea party-backed Rep. Allen West -- is a special kind of poison that cannot be safely ignored.

Let me be clear: I'm saying that the extreme language we hear from the far right is qualitatively different from the extreme language we hear from the far left -- and far more damaging to the ties that bind us as a nation.

Believe me, I would prefer not to dignify the ravings of Nugent or West by commenting on them. Nugent seems to be motivated by paranoia; West, perhaps by cynical calculation. But the only effective way to deal with bullies is to confront them.

Nugent, who delivered his foaming-at-the-mouth peroration at a National Rifle Association convention, earned a visit from the Secret Service with his promise that "if Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year." [full Eugene Robinson:]

I think Eugene Robinson used to write his opinion for the NYT, maybe does still.  He does write a syndicated column that's picked up by various local rags, like one I read.  Here's his column for Sunday,  from an Indianapolis newspaper.  Is it out of his ordinary in today's media?  Nope.  All that causes me to recommend it to you is it happened to strike me, your host, as so agoggingly inane that it's a wonder we two can be from similar backgrounds.

Well, we're not.  I grew up Red-White and Blue, Robinson grew up, evidently, thinking the world owed him something (i.e. Liberal Demorat/Socialist), and is by now enslaved by that particular ideology.  In other words, what he says has no relevance to me, no hint of sharing a common culture, and he would in fact be more at home at a Hamas-Taliban kaffee klatch.  But his is representative  of the published and spoken think we get from the dominant American press.

When the left were making movies about assassinating G.W, Bush, I thought some hangings were in order,  When Ted Nugent says "if Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year," I think of statues on the Mall.

So, Robinson as a spokesman for the American left is correct, or I  am..  One of us is wrong, and a subversive.  It's come to that.

Brisbane on the Offence

Res Ipsa Loquitur

Arther Brisbane is the NYT 's "Public Editor."   That means, according to the Slimes,"the readers' representative." Is that the same as Ombudsman?  That was Charley Blow's job at the Slimes, but, well, he was too aptly named it seems.  A while back Brisbane  "touched off a blog and Twitter firestorm by asking whether the newspaper’s reporters should be “truth vigilantes?'"

Many of the responses expressed shock that the paper would even have to ask such a question — what else should a media outlet like the NYT be doing?

That prompted the rest of America to wonder, who's dumber?  NYT readers for evidently thinking the Times seeks truth? Or, Brisbane for thinking his employer give a rat's ass?  I digress.

In Sunday's "A Hard Look at the President,"  he admits the Times didn't do a very good job of vetting Obama in 2008.  But first—   the obligatory equivalency shot across the enemy bow ↓).

.Eight years ago, The Times offered comparably scant campaign coverage of the incumbent, George W. Bush, even as it blanketed readers with articles about Senator John Kerry and others competing for the Democratic nomination. ( Dirty Johnny is waving his arm furiously, something about "ass" and "kissing,"but I'm not going to call on him).

Continuing, there is a brief  wonderment.

Many critics view The Times as constitutionally unable to address the election in an unbiased fashion. Like a lot of America, it basked a bit in the warm glow of Mr. Obama’s election in 2008. The company published a book about the country’s first African-American president, “Obama: The Historic Journey.” The Times also published a lengthy portrait of him in its Times Topics section on NYTimes.com, yet there’s nothing of the kind about George W. Bush or his father.

According to a study by the media scholars Stephen J. Farnsworth and S. Robert Lichter, The Times’s coverage of the president’s first year in office was significantly more favorable than its first-year coverage of three predecessors who also brought a new party to power in the White House: George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan.

Writing for the periodical Politics & Policy, the authors were so struck by the findings that they wondered, [this is rich] “Did The Times, perhaps in response to the aggressive efforts by Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal to seize market share, decide to tilt more to the left than it had in the past?”

[Still
—  Horry Clap!  Maybe this guy's actually trying!]

[Whoops]

I strongly doubt that. Based on conversations with Times reporters and editors who cover the campaign and Washington, I think they see themselves as aggressive journalists who don’t play favorites.

Chuck Norris: My question is this: If there isn't any credence to the left-wing's demonizing and entrapment of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, then why would billionaire progressive George Soros spend millions of dollars on anti-Arpaio campaigns and pledge millions more to defeat the toughest U.S. sheriff's re-election?

Consider just a couple of the orchestrated efforts by the Obama administration and Soros-funded organizations:

In January 2010, 60 influential black leaders condemned Sheriff Arpaio in an ad sponsored by the Center for Community Change (an organization supported by more than $1.7 million from Soros in 2010 alone).

In December 2011, the U.S. Department of Justice accused Sheriff Arpaio of civil rights violations, discrimination and racial profiling against Latinos.

In January 2012, Obama appointed another new czar as the director of his Domestic Policy Council, Cecilia Munoz, who previously served on three heavily funded Soros organizations' boards: his Open Society Institute, the Center for Community Change (mentioned above) and, most recently, the open-border lobbyist group that fights for mass immigration and amnesty for illegal aliens, the National Council of La Raza (an organization supported by at least $362,000 from Soros in 2010 alone).

In February 2012, Janet Murguia, the National Council of La Raza's president and CEO, officially demanded that "Arpaio step down immediately" and resign as sheriff of Maricopa County.

Do you think those Obama-Soros intertwined connections and workings are coincidental?

Chelsea Clinton Sucks

Chelsea Clinton has a problem

Res Ipsa Loquitur

The former first daughter’s new job as a correspondent for NBC News has gotten off to a rocky start — and, after just two on-air pieces (thus far) for “Rock Center with Brian Williams” and the “NBC Nightly News,” she has become the target of withering criticism from inside the TV world.

And it’s only getting worse.

Why do I get satisfaction from the misfortune of others?  I don't know.  It just happens sometimes.  Hatfield and McCoys.  Al Qaeda and the USA.   Clintons and Good.   Stuff like that. Plus, while I did ask Linda Bird J. to dance at a JOPA party once, I can honestly say that I  would never stoop so low as Chelsea Clinton.

I WANT YOUR MONEY from Michael Katz on Vimeo.

A political documentary that contrasts the two paths the United States can take using the words and actions of Barack Obama and Ronald Reagan. The film uses interviews from well-known public figures, experts, movie clips, dramatic portrayals, music, graphics and even comedic animation to tell the story in the plainest terms of the choice between the Obama and the Reagan views of the role of the federal government in our society. It also examines how these big government programs have been tried in the past at great moral and financial cost to the nation. California is offered as a case-in-point in understanding what economic challenges might face the nation, if we choose the larger government path. The RKOF&S has awarded it the Palm d' cheveux

Mark Levin talks about what he says few have the guts to talk about, and that is how the Senate GOP establishment, McConnell, is trying to minimize conservative Sen. Ron Johnson who has made it clear he isn’t in the Senate to buddy up with the leadership, but rather to represent his constituents and fight for conservatism. And on the other hand, the establishment types like McCain are teaming up with one of the go-along-to-get-along increasingly liberal senators, Dick Lugar, to help him defeat a great conservative he’s running against.

So while they claim to be conservative, what they really want more than anything are people who will do their bidding and Levin isn’t going to keep quiet about it. He explains it in full here:

According to emails obtained by WikiLeaks, which is led by the embattled Julian Assange, Republican Senator John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign staff allegedly had evidence that Democrats stuffed ballot boxes in Pennsylvania and Ohio on election night. However, the candidate chose not to pursue voter fraud, according to internal emails obtained from the private intelligence and analysis firm, Stratfor.

A recently passed bill will require all cars to come
equipped with
"black boxes" that record vehicle data. These Event Data Recorders
(EDR), similar to their airplane counterparts, will record data such as
speed, brake force and electrical systems monitoring. The days of a car
crash being one driver's word against another look to be history.

Senate Bill 1813 (known as Map-21) mandates that automakers install
EDRs in all new vehicles starting in 2015. The bill was recently passed
and is expected to be approved by the (Republican controlled)
House
(WTF?) .

Oxnard teacher who allegedly appeared in porn movie is fired

Res Ipsa Loquitur

Everyone here knows I am not a prude, and I try not to be hypocritical,  but good!  He deserved to be fired.

It was not a bad thing when teachers were expected, at risk of their job and reputation, to avoid sexual misadventure and scandal.  Peforming in porn films is way over-the-top.   There is much evidence that points to damage Bill Clinton did to kid-culture by cavalierly excusing his oral sex with Lewinsky as "not having sex."  I read someplace last year that co-ed college dorms are making  porn movies for payments of $5-10 thousand dollars, depending on the number participating in explicit acts.   These porn festivals are often organized as charity fund raisers, and students face severe peer pressure to participate. Liquor and drugs are wheel greasers.

I  know that horse is out of the barn, but that doesn't mean we surrender; stop trying to put it back.  Plus, who wants to see their male teacher having sex?  Ewwwwwwwww.

95-year-old A vet loses $300 during TSA pat-down

Res Ipsa Loquitur

Just one problem statism (police and nanny state) fosters are the idiots, nincompoops, sadists, morons and assholes who will invariably be turning the cranks.  TSA have been a godsend example of what to expect if this movement to nanny-statehood is not stopped.

Omer Petti, a 95-year-old retired Air Force major, said he expected to set off metal detectors at San Diego International Airport. He and his 85-year-old travel companion have two replaced knees, a replaced hip and a pair of wheelchairs between them. What they didn't anticipate was being subjected to full-on "humiliating" TSA private-room pat-downs. "Do I look like a terrorist?" he asked.

Worst of all, the TSA agent made Petti empty his pockets, including a money-clipped $300, which had disappeared from the screening area by the time he was released. Petti has filed police reports and TSA paperwork but hasn't gotten any satisfactory answers -- or his money. "I think I was scammed," he said. I want to make sure the next generation of manufacturing isn’t taking root just in Asia or EuropeI want it taking root in factories in Detroit and Pittsburgh and Cleveland and California.…I want to reward companies that are investing here in the United States and creating jobs all throughout this country.  —That Obama person, February 2012

At least one component of the manufacturing sector is still making stuff in Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, California, and thousands of other places in America, and making more of it than it had in decades.  The firearms industry, reports Greg Beato [The Gun Explosion], is cranking out iron at a record pace.

His list of probable reasons do not include our increasing fear of government, or the hooliganism it's allowed to fester. Tsk. They do include  (under the unfortunate use of a "feminism" tag)  the increase in women gun owners. Women serving in the military being his big reason.  I'm not so sure that's  primary. My own wife surprised me some years ago with a request for a handgun.  She was driven by a raw instinct  for self-defense.  There are more women at the gun range than ever before, but only a few seem to be vets.  But, military experience is a factor, and for that, and myriad other reasons, we are I believe a lesser people for having chucked the (admittedly less efficient)  universal draft for an all volunteer army.
