State investigators: Fulton election documents were altered
“
Res Ipsa Loquitor

Res Ipsa Loquitor
I'm not holding my breath here.  A number of provisional ballot applications were made by Bridgett Jackson.  It was explained that she was a poll worker who thought she was supposed to sign the ballots.  Then there are whole sheets of names that supposedly did cast provisional ballots.  All of them were in red ink, in the same unidentified handwriting, and written at the same time.  Where we're at now?

"If somebody who handled the documents was found to have altered them to cover their tracks, the case could move into the criminal realm, including potential charges of voter fraud."

Do ya think? Forgive me for jumping to inclusions.  After all, this could be GOP voter fraud perped by African  American Republicans.  Which would be somewhat refreshing, since something like 99.3% of all massive voter fraud over the last 100 years have been perped by Democrats (National Bureau of Interweb Statistics).

Good morning!

I wanted to drop you a short message to let you know I'm going to Ann Arbor Monday to start a treatment plan for a tumor on my pancreas. My wife Julie and I will be leaving Sunday night and intend to take our time getting there.

This has been a while in the making - I'm retired Navy, and subject to TriCare (2 lies for the price of one - they don't try, and they don't care) for my medical insurance. They don't like to allow their subjects to leave their network for treatment, and it took a LOT of pressure to get this authorized. But we won!

Anyway, I'd be grateful for the prayers and support of the C&S community as we deal with this situation. Hopefully, we can get this tumor to shrink, or go away, or something, so I can come back and resume commenting - which I've missed greatly, but I just haven't felt witty lately, know what I mean?
I'll let you know the outcome, if any.

Thanks,

Meeting Evil - JFC!

   At The Cinema

On the road with Samuel L. Jackson

People at the liquor store are always asking, "Hey Rodge, has there ever been a more despicable movie character than Woody Harrelson's Mickey Knox in Natural Born Killers? Or a movie more despicable and lacking even the—perhaps—one iota of redeeming value in that Oliver Stone  movie?"

I've always had to say no, until now.  Samuel L. Jackson, who I believe is actually playing himself in Meeting Evil, (as did Harrelson in Killers) is the new reigning despicable movie character.  And Meeting Evil is the new (well, maybe tied with NBK) piece of shit  movie of all time.

Now let's talk about what influences mentally unhinged kids to go on shooting sprees.

The price of Obamacare

                      croak

IRS: Cheapest Obamacare Plan Will Be $20,000 Per Family

Res Ipsa Loquitor

The most grotesque thing about the recent announcement of what Obamacare will cost to purchase is not that the annual national average bronze plan(cheapest) premium for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) is $20,000; nor is it that the annual tax  penalty Americans must pay if they fail to obey Obamacare's mandate is, in this instance, about $2000!  No, the most grotesque and frightening thing is the the IRS made the announcement, and is setting the fees.

The good old friendly IRS.  The agency that has the same powers to interrogate suspects, and punish with internment in a gulag or stalag, as did Stalin's KGB, or Hitler's SS, is running the show.  The IRS is the Death Panel.   Overly histrionic? I think not.

The pisser is, if I'm understanding this (AND WHO THE HELL KNOWS IF I AM NOT?), that nobody can afford to, or wants to pay $20,000+ a year to buy this monstrosity.  So,  the penalty money is what Obama plans to use to pay for the 50+ percent of residents (not necessarily citizens) who will be added (entitled) to Obamacare rolls at no charge.  And even that won't be enough money!

Despite what dreamworlders like George Will (who correctly calls this a "time bomb" think, this is not going to lead to the abolition of Obamacare. Never in history have government killed a bad idea; they just keep tinkering with it until one day they discover some
unobtainium that shut people up, and then call it a success (see Social Security, Medicare, Barney Frank).

The Evil RKOF in me enjoys the thought of forthcoming agonizing by people (useful idiots) who voted for this government, and will now be reduced by it to government serfdom, or, if they're lucky, hated pig overseers.  The Good Rodge weeps for all Americans.

Women if Foxholes

Res Ipsa Loquitor No Country For Old Men

  • 1991 Congress authorizes women to fly in combat missions.
  • 1993 Congress authorizes women to serve on combat ships.
  • 1998 For the first time, women fighter pilots fly combat missions off aircraft carrier in Operation Desert Fox, Iraq.
  • 2013 Defense Secretary Leon Panetta lifts a longstanding ban on women serving in combat,
Rush: We have Joe Geezer from Omaha.  Are you there Joe?
Joe G. Yes, but I sure had to wait a long time.
Rush: Reminded you of your army days didn't it?  I understand you served  during WWII.
Joe G. (Laughs) Yes. Under Patton. I'm 76 years old Rush, but I still hate the waiting.
Rush:What do you think about  allowing women to serve as combatants?
Joe G.. Why do they want to?  Hell, most men try like hell to stay out of war zones.  I think it's a mistake to put women in a foxhole with men..
Rush: Well, so far that hasn't happened, but you know it's coming; but what's your problem with it?
Joe G.:  Rush, if there was a women in my foxhole, I'm afraid I'd probably rape her, and so would damn near all the men I know..
Rush: Speechless..  (ca1990 anecdotal -memory)

Res Ipsa Loquitor As I move along into my dotage,  the male machismo thing isn't nearly as prominent as it once was.  And Lord knows that I've applauded  the women soljers I've known, or heard about on this Blog for their patriotism, passion, and ability (mostly) to think straighter than their civilian counterparts.  But back around that time (1991)Joe Geezer called Rush, and perhaps triggered by it,  I got into a discussion with my friend Banning.  He was a Vietnam veteran Naval officer w/four daughters, and more amenable to women serving on the front lines than I.  He did, oddly enough)  agree that James Webb was spot-on with "Women Can't Fight")

Banning asked me why I was so adverse to it.  I answered, "Because there's no woman I can't beat the crap out of. "   He thought it a silly response, and that was the end of that.  But there was a lot going on in that answer, and I suspect if you're ever going to understand what, you already do. .

As a veteran of incessant playground wars during my Chicago school days, I was stating a lesson that I think many anthropologists might agree with.  In order to lead, you have to be recognized as being at least as physically tough as the men you lead. You have to have reached that point where fighting you just isn't worth it.

What started all this today, was cowardly leftist turd Leon Panetta— installed as Sec/Defense by Barry O (which says it all)— breaking down the last feminist barrier to front line combat.  He did it as he walked out the door, and thus won't have to deal with it.

I know what you're saying, "But Rodge, times are different.  Men don't think like that anymore."

I know.

1,100 Green Berets set record straight

1,100 Green Berets set record straight on guns
'AR-15 is not an assault rifle. It is a single shot semi-automatic'

“
Res Ipsa Loquitor

“The terms ‘assault weapon’ and ‘assault rifle’ are often confused,” they say. “According to Bruce H. Kobayashi and Joseph E. Olson, writing in the Stanford Law and Policy Review, ‘Prior to 1989, the term ‘assault weapon’ did not exist in the lexicon of firearms. It is a political term, developed by anti-gun publicists to expand the category of assaults rifles.’”

The Green Berets, who use the weapons, point out the M4A1 carbine is a U.S. military service rifle – it is an assault rifle.” [Full]

Accurately and succinctly put.  However, they've heard all this before and are either just too stuck on the stupidity emanating from their Progressive cloister or,  like Chucky Schumer [Schumer’s False Fire] is captured by the brilliance of his own false analogies..

The Greely Expedition

Watch The Greely Expedition on PBS. See more from American Experience.

In 1881, 25 men led by Adolphus Greely set sail from Newfoundland to Lady Franklin Bay in the high Arctic, where they planned to collect a wealth of scientific data from a vast area of the world’s surface that had been described as a "sheer blank." Three years later, only six survivors returned, with a daunting story of shipwreck, starvation, mutiny and cannibalism. The film reveals how poor planning, personality clashes, questionable decisions and pure bad luck conspired to turn a noble scientific mission into a human tragedy.

I watched The Greely Expedition last night and was awe struck—that I had no remembrance of ever hearing about it.  Probably because the government, out of embarrassment, tried to keep it hidden. I highly recommend it for its adventure, but mostly because of this lesson about leadership—the folly of judging a person's ability based on just a  slice of what's happening baby.  But, that's still not what I'm wanting to tell you about.  This is.

At the end of this incredible story hardship and survival, this is what PBS sees as the lesson learned.

Voiceover:  ".... for more than a century his records gathered dust until once again the Arctic captured people's attention.

We are now using Greeley's data to try and understand how global warming happened; how the climate has changed over the past 100 years

The irony is that this data is of interest today-- not because it offers an understanding of nature, but rather because it provides a key to how human beings have changed nature

Appreciate the level of arrogance it takes to assume that we have the ability, even if we wanted to, to control any long term behavior of a climate that has been evolving for 4.5 Billion years! Especially since those efforts have been proved to be politically motivated, based on manifestly silly argument rife with fraudulent facts and using unreliable data collection models.  These then are people who call themselves Progressives.  As in, progressively getting dumber. And I have been watching them for 35 years.

Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show: What Postponement of the U.S.'s Largest Gun Show Says About America

“

These are people who cherish their Second Amendment to be sure. They love an America that stays out of their way so they can use firearms in the field or to defend themselves and their loved ones. They cherish outdoor experiences with family and friends. They kill deer and eat the venison. They’re connected to the land and go to game commission meetings to give them hell if they don’t think the deer herd is being managed properly or the streams kept clean. They get tears in their eyes when a son or daughter catches a first fish or tags a first deer. They plant food plots to feed deer and hang game cameras to keep track of local bucks. They’re very involved in their outdoor resources and everything they do is taxed to fund conservation.

Reed Exhibitions’ leadership should go, too

Raja,

I think the point of this article is that pro-2nd Amendment people and organizations are coming together and will not take it from anyone. Not progy politicians, and not wayward people and groups supposedly in their own ranks. That show “postponement”, or cancellation, was ripe for being miscast by the MSM. This article gets to the heart of the matter, and this side isn’t going to be fooled. At the least, it is a warning to RINO squish artists who became weak-kneed in the wake of Sandy Hook.

This is big trouble, in the making.  Among other things, one of the big issues will be the expectation that student loans for worthless degrees should be forgiven..... and then, as taxes upon taxes kick in, there will be a growing resentment among those with limited earnings potential, regarding them having to pay social security and Medicare entitlements for the generations before them..... with the limited prospect of ever receiving any of those benefits themselves.

Think social unrest on a grand scale.

I took another crack at rye bread yesterday.  I had trouble getting it off the peel and into the oven, so it deflated a little.  Still, it came out looking good and had a nice thump.  I told MoSup that, while it might taste good, it's so time consuming that in the future I'll leave it to the bakery.   My New York Pizza dough takes three days percolating, but only five minutes to assemble. This rye bread takes 8 hours with constant kneading and smashing and all the glayvin.  But today I sliced into it and  made a BLT on rye.  Best rye bread I ever tasted.  Dammit.

CNN also added one to its ranks, poaching Chris Cuomo from ABC News. In a release Tuesday, CNN said Cuomo - the brother of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) - will have a “major role” in a new morning show and across the network. According to the Associated Press and Politico, he is expected to pair up with CNN’s Erin Burnett to host a new show that will replace “Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien.” TPN

Some shake-up.  Let me axe you something.  What began CNN's slide into obscurity?  That's right; Fox News.   And, what did  FNC do that created such a television news whirlwind?  That's right.  They put together a news team, headed by Brit Hume—who had a sterling reputation at ABC News where he spakled  as White House correspondent.

The Fox News hour, including the evening news with
Shepard Smith, covered all the news, including stuff  the alphabet networks avoid like Nancy Pelosi avoids travelling coach.    That is, they dared Democrats to explain themselves.  A new paradigm for success?  You'd think.

Just a week into CNN president Jeff Zucker’s tenure, he's painting the red walls a different shade of red.  He's saying, "Damn the West Coast Offense, I'm going with the T-formation!"  Failure percolating.  His greatest achievement will be to fire Piers Morgan; but also the easiest. The whole lineup reeks howvever. Nobody deserves to stay.

What would I do?  Why I'd emulate FOX, and I'd quit tailoring my news so as not to offend foreigners.  But first, I'd have to un-ban word "foreigner."

Take This Waltz

“

Very quietly Seth Rogen has crept onto my list of people whose movies I'll watch just because he's in them.  Most of them, I mean all of them that I've seen,  are quirky (The Green Hornet, Zack and Miri Make a Porno,  Superbad, Freaks and Geeks), but never ever slap-stick. And funny.  And Rogen's character is always cool, and that goes for Waltz.

Take This Waltz (2011) was written and directed by Sarah Polley, and is nominally a Chick Flick listed as comedy/drama— "A happily married woman falls for the artist who lives across the street."

I loved this movie (it receives just 6.5 stars on IMDB).  The dialog between Michelle (the "good wife"),  her husband (Rogen), and paramour (Luke Kirby) fairly crackles.  There are times when you'll be startled, and surprised. And,  there is, in the end something of an understated Greek tragedy quality imposed.

My guess is that everyone in the family will love it.  Little Tommy—because  Michelle Williams and Sarah Silverman are quite  naked; mom and dad—because both will see something of themselves in it.  Five Stars for me.

Disclaimer - I no longer go to the cinema, nor pay any attention to what films are popular, or not.  So, Take This Waltz may have won 10 Academy Awards and I shall not have known it.

New Yorkers give Cuomo the FINGER

... passing laws which cannot be enforced.

“
Res Ipsa Loquitor

"The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this.”

 — Albert Einstein, “My First Impression of the U.S.A.”, 1921 "
Assault-rifle owners statewide are organizing a mass boycott of Gov. Cuomo’s new law mandating they register their weapons, daring officials to “come and take it away,” The Post has learned.

Gun-range owners and gun-rights advocates are encouraging hundreds of thousands of owners to defy the law, saying it’d be the largest act of civil disobedience in state history.

“I’ve heard from hundreds of people that they’re prepared to defy the law, and that number will be magnified by the thousands, by the tens of thousands, when the registration deadline comes,’’ said Brian Olesen, president of the American Shooters Supply, one of the largest gun dealers in the state.

"Political officials might want to consider those experiences, as well as a recent poll finding two-thirds of Americans willing to defy tighter gun restrictions, before setting themselves up for public demonstrations of their impotence in the face of mass defiance"

Prancing twats like Cuomo think  they can do anything they want, now that Obama's overwhelming popularity (ahem)  has been revalidated at the polls.  While I'm convinced that the Obamas would like nothing more than to entice us into missteps that justify imposing martial law, they have to choose something that doesn't ignite the rebellion people are beginning  to see as inevitable.  I look for them to backpedal; they have to—as long as we are UNIFIED in resistance.

The government, for example, has determined that black people (somehow) have fewer abilities than white people, and, so, must be given certain preferences. Anyone acquainted with both black and white people knows this assessment is not only absurd but monstrous. And yet it is the law.

President Obama, in his reelection campaign, referred frequently to the “needs” of himself and his opponent, alleging that each has more money than he “needs.”

But where in the Constitution is it written that the Government is in charge of determining “needs”? And note that the president did not say “I have more money than I need,” but “You and I have more than we need.” Who elected him to speak for another citizen?"  Mamet
