Bread Pudding

The Best Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 5 large beaten eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cups cubed Italian bread, allow to stale overnight in a bowl
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, softened
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

For the sauce:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup brandy

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13 by 9 by 2-inch pan.

Mix together granulated sugar, eggs, and milk in a bowl; add vanilla. Pour over cubed bread and let sit for 10 minutes.

In another bowl, mix and crumble together brown sugar, butter, and pecans.

Pour bread mixture into prepared pan. Sprinkle brown sugar mixture over the top and bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until set. Remove from oven.

For the sauce:

Mix together the granulated sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir together until the sugar is melted. Add the brandy, stirring well. Pour over bread pudding. Serve warm or cold.

This is essentially the same recipe for Chocolate-Hazelnut Bread Pudding I saw on America Test Kitchen [Video], but without the chocolate, and pecans instead of hazelnuts.  I did throw in some chocolate chips.  The end result is sinful, and actually tastes a lot like Cinnabons, only way way better.

The key, I discovered, to making anything bread pudding is to first cube the bread, and  bake in a single layer @ 200ยบ for 45 minutes (stale bread will reconstitute water, oven dried bread will not, so it's not soggy).  And best of all, I lost 10 pounds after eating it all!  God I love this country.

Fraudphobia

FRAUDPHOBIA

Here's an interesting thing, in light of the North Carolina voting anomaly, and CBS's  early call of Obama's reelection.

First off, Maryland Republicans have good reason to worry about voter fraud, especially after the blatant theft that cost Ellen Sauerbrey our governor's office in 1994 (a tactic Dems later used to get Christine Gregoire elected in Washington, and award Al Franken the critical 60th Senate seat from Minnesota; [See 'Voter Fraud']

I just learned that MD. elementary schools, at least in this county, are holding mock elections.  The kiddies are given real electronic ballot cards, and use actual electronic voting machines that will be used for the general election.

Ahem.

No matter how bad things get, we should always believe that the next election will give us a chance to right things.  An awful lot of us don't have that comfort anymore.

The post just below shows CBS calling the election for Obama just before the third debate.  Here, the RNC has a commercial the DNC evidently decided not to air*snort.*   Here's the question we all ask.  Are there people out there who would vote for Obama after seeing  these (for the first time, in most cases)?  The answer is of course, yes.  It's called cancer.

CBS Calls election for Obama - In October

Go home.  Nothing to see here.
CBS has called the election for Obama

CBS-calls-election

Phoenix and Cincinnati ran this,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Isn't it a little premature to call the race for Obama two weeks before the election? It looks like a CBS News affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona did just that last Friday for 17 seconds when they flashed a graphic showing Obama beating Romney with 99% of the precincts reporting. CBS needs to explain this. But whatever their explanation, let's make this their "Dewey Defeats Truman" moment. Please remember to tune in to the important debate tonight. The momentum for this election is not with Obama, regardless of what some in the media might want to think.
Trumps big surprise? Yawn?
Donald Trump to reveal ‘divorce papers of Michelle and Barack Obama’, claims respected financial pundit
BFD.  Every marriage will experience rocky times.  Shoot, I thought Trump's promised "October Surprise" was a verified Kenya birth certificate.  Not that that would matter in this  go-along to get-along culture. What's the significance of Trump's revelation, then?  Nada.  Unless of course it was because Michelle found Barry in bed with a dead hooker or live boy.  Anything is possible with that lot.
Ann Coulter in Tweet: ‘I Highly Approve of Romney’s Decision to Be Kind & Gentle to the Retard’
In an article highlighting and deriding the controversial message, Mediaite’s Tommy Christopher wrote that Coulter, “crossed lines of decency untrod even by her standards.”
Politicker also noted that this isn’t the first time the commentator has come under fire for using the word, which many advocates view as an offensive term to people with special needs. A few weeks ago, Dan Niblock, a father of a child with Down syndrome, penned an article on NBC’s “Today” web site, demanding an apology for Coulter’s use of the word in a separate tweet.
Damn, I do love her for tweaking these officious liberal  twats.  And for what it's worth, there are numerous  charitable orgs. like "Sacramento Association for the Retarded. Charity."   Secondly, if someone is a retard, they won't know to be insulted by the word because they're retarded. If they do understand the modern PC proscription against using "retard,"  they won't think of themselves as being one.  So, the only retards here are Tommy Christopher, Dan Niblock, and other professional aggrieved libtards.
PS - the people who abort babies because of +  Downs Syndrome scans?  Liberals.
Fact Check: Obama Challenges Us to Look Up Romney’s Op-Ed, So I Do
Guess who was telling the truth?
Here’s the transcript:
ROMNEY: I just want to take one of those points, again, attacking me as not talking about an agenda for — for getting more trade and opening up more jobs in this country. But the president mentioned the auto industry and that somehow I would be in favor of jobs being elsewhere. Nothing could be further from the truth.
I’m a son of Detroit. I was born in Detroit. My dad was head of a car company. I like American cars. And I would do nothing to hurt the U.S. auto industry. My plan to get the industry on its feet when it was in real trouble was not to start writing checks. It was President Bush that wrote the first checks. I disagree with that. I said they need — these companies need to go through a managed bankruptcy. And in that process, they can get government help and government guarantees, but they need to go through bankruptcy to get rid of excess cost and the debt burden that they’d — they’d built up. The most comical analyses as usual come from Media Matters, who evidently see this as a race between Fox News and Obama.
