An ignorant president

President X
On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes—and I see many of them in the audience here today—our sense of patriotism is particularly strong  - Candidate X

I saw the Drudge link, but Obama gaffes are become so common place, and the blurb so descriptive, that I figured to skip it. However, a need for some Obama schadenfreude compelled me to snack on it.  It was worse than I imagined.  In case you missed it:
I want to thank my Cabinet members and senior administration officials who participated today. I hear that Dr. Joe Medicine Crow was around, and so I want to give a shout out to that Congressional Medal of Honor winner. It's good to see you.
Crow was never awarded the MOH - he did win a Bronze Star for valor in WWII - and he was given the  Presidential Medal of Freedom in August.  This past August.  By Obama.  Medal of Freedom.  Medal of Honor.  What's the diff?

What we have here is another example of this president's shallow understanding, or even knowledge of the traditions, history,  and ceremony of the United States of America.  Memorial Day, and Veterans day - same thing.  Fifty states in the Union?  or is it fifty-seven?  Or fifty-eight?  His mother was a radical leftist, his father - well, we're not for certain sure who that was, but all the candidates were similarly inclined toward the views of Mr. Marx, as are ALL of his associates, and mentors.  His education was dished out with an anti-American bias, all of which leaves him woefully ignorant, at best, but very dangerous.

President X? X-President? I know that difference.

Owens - 4 lies in first hour

A record, even for a democrat?
Owens breaks 4 campaign promises in first hour in Congress

GOUVERNEUR, NY - Congressman-elect Bill Owens was sworn in at noon today.

Owens indicated in a press release released shortly afterwards that he was now in favor of the the "Affordable Healthcare for America Act" bill in direct contrast to his earlier position during the election campaign.

According to Politico.com, Mr. Owens assured voters that he felt the public option had no place in the health care reform

bill.  Contrary to that position, Mr. Owens now indicates that he intends to vote in favor of the bill even though it now contains a public option.

UPDATED: A spokesman for Congressman Owens indicated correctly that Mr. Owens had recanted his solid position against public option later in the campaign, clarifying that he did not wish public option to be a 'litmus test' for the Health Reform bill and that on Oct. 30th, several days prior to the election, in a debate had stated that he generally supported the public option as it was now...

Rep. Kratovil

A hat tip to Kratovil

Rep. Frank Kratovil of Indiana [sic], told the Associated Press he plans to vote against the bill because it does not do enough to control costs.

"At this time there is not much point in lobbying me," he said. "I am a 'no."' (PBS)

Frank Kratovil is my Congressman (MD-1) and not from Indiana.  While he's a democrat who barely won after a spoiler entered the race, splitting the vote, in a district where ACORN was active, I'll give him his due.  He voted against Cap & Trade, and now promises to vote against Obamacare.  Our old RINO congressman, one Wayne Gilchrist, most certainly would have voted for both.  Kratovil says he's voting against because "because it does not do enough to control costs."  That's good, but what about the underlying threats to our freedom?  We'll work on that.

The effigy photo is from Politico, where  Glenn Thrush cries crocodile tears over it.  Blah-blah- blah.  Then in a somewhat breathless update, Thrush finds something even more sinister.

UPDATE: As it turns out, the dangling of a noose has distant but painful historical resonance on the Eastern Shore.

The Salisbury area was the site of the last two racial lynchings that took place in the state of Maryland -- both in the 1930s, according to Polly Stewart. a former Salisbury University professor interviewed by NPR earlier this year.

Stewart, a folklorist who researched the crimes, detailed the reaction of predominantly-white local historical society when she confronted them with evidence of the lynchings in the mid-1980s:

I'll let the commenters to this article speak for me.  What a bunch of silly crap emanating from the left these days, like  Robert Gibbs's Hitler lament (post below).   Anyway, for now a hat tip to Kratovil for being a mensch.

People -- imagine five years ago somebody comparing health care reform to 9/11. Imagine just a few years ago had somebody walked around with images of Hitler.

Hopefully we can get back to a discussion about the issues that are important in this country that we can do so without being personally disagreeable and set up comparisons to things that were so insidious in our history that anybody in any profession or walk of life would be well advised to compare nothing to those atrocities."  - Obama Press Sec/ Robert Gibbs

White House: FOX off-limits
"We better not see you on again"

One Democratic strategist said that shortly after an appearance on Fox he got a phone call from a White House official telling him not to be a guest on the show again. The call had an intimidating tone, he said.

The message was, "We better not see you on again,'' said the strategist, who spoke on condition of anonymity so as not to run afoul of the White House. An implicit suggestion, he said, was that "clients might stop using you if you continue.''

In urging Democratic consultants to spurn Fox, White House officials might be trying to isolate the network and make it appear more partisan.  (More: The Swamp)

THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF
A VERY SPECIAL COMPANION.

Marc Miller sent this yesterday ...

I, your ever-faithful companion because of my burden of my illness upon me, I realize the end of my life is near, so I hereby leave you my words for my Last Will and Testament. I have little to give you in a material way.  So many of your human companions strive for material gain.  You know how this divides families at the end.  There is nothing that I have to bequeath except my love and faith.  These I leave to all those who have loved me.

I ask for my owners to remember me always; but not to grieve for me too long.  All my life I have tried to be a comfort to them in sorrow and in indeed joy in their life’s happiness.  It is very painful for me to think that even in death, I am causing them pain.

Let them know that I have had a wonderful life but now I am growing ill and have much pain.  I should not want my pride to sink to humiliation.  It is time for me to say “Goodbye.”  It will be very sorrowful to leave you but; not a sorrow for me to die. Animals do not fear death as humans do.  We accept this as part of our lives.  What will become of me after death?  I will be in a place where I will always be young.  A place that will be a paradise for me.  Some people call that “Heaven” Yes, animals have souls.  God has a special place in heaven just for us.

I have another request.  Please find another animal to be at your side.  I know no one can take my place, but I will feel better knowing you are taking special care of another pet.  I will leave that pet my leash, or my collar.  My favorite pillow, or the special place in the car. It would be a poor tribute to me, if no one ever followed me.

One last word of farewell dear ones…Whenever you think of me say to yourself that I was the one you loved; and how much you loved me.  No matter how deep my sleep, I shall hear you and not all the power of death can keep my spirit from wagging a grateful tail. May the angels always watch over you as they watch over me.  Remember…I will always be with you in love.

Pelosi. Lie.

The Obama presidency was
always a race against time.

The time when people understood who, and what he is.  That time is now.

This WSJ opinion piece profiles some of the Blue state freshmen Dems who won't see a second term.  Something that explains why Pelosi Breaks Pledge to Put Final Health Care Bill Online for 72 Hours Before Vote.
The White House and the congressional leadership saw this coming, and it is why Speaker Nancy Pelosi is force-marching her health bill to a vote tomorrow. She's not about to give her members time to absorb the ugly results, or to be further rattled by next week's Veteran's Day break, when they go home for a repeat of the August furies. If not now, she knows, maybe never.

Look for it, nonetheless, to be a squeaker. A lot of Democrats are getting a sneaky suspicion Mrs. Pelosi is willing to sacrifice their seats on the altar of liberal government health care. Combined with the election results and Mr. Obama's falling poll numbers, this is no recipe for loyalty. Hello, tipping point. Hello, even crazier Washington.

PS ... this is hilarious.  Dictionary.com has a Pelosi audio entry (NSFW).

31,000 American scientists refute global warming claim

We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.

Al Gore Admits CO2 Does Not Cause Majority Of Global Warming

In a new development that is potentially devastating to the agenda to introduce a global carbon tax and a cap and trade system, Al Gore admits that the majority of global warming that occurred until 2001 was not primarily caused by CO2.

Before we get too excited, Gore is not backing away from his support for the theory of man-made climate change, but his concession that carbon dioxide only accounted for 40% of warming according to new studies could seriously harm efforts to tax CO2, that evil, life-giving gas that humans exhale and plants absorb.

“Gore acknowledged to Newsweek that the findings could complicate efforts to build a political consensus around the need to limit carbon emissions,” reports BB News.

But still:

Senate panel approves Democratic climate bill

- A key U.S. Senate environment committee approved a Democratic climate change bill on Thursday that would require industry to cut emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases 20 percent by 2020 from 2005 levels.

Secret copyright treaty leaks.
This Blog is Criminal

Via Boing Boing - If this is true, Obaa has just shut down the internet as we know it.

The internet chapter of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, a secret copyright treaty whose text Obama's administration refused to disclose due to "national security" concerns, has leaked. It's bad. It says:
  • * That ISPs have to proactively police copyright on user-contributed material. This means that it will be impossible to run a service like Flickr or YouTube or Blogger, since hiring enough lawyers to ensure that the mountain of material uploaded every second isn't infringing will exceed any hope of profitability.

  • * That ISPs have to cut off the Internet access of accused copyright infringers or face liability. This means that your entire family could be denied to the internet -- and hence to civic participation, health information, education, communications, and their means of earning a living -- if one member is accused of copyright infringement, without access to a trial or counsel.

  • * That the whole world must adopt US-style "notice-and-takedown" rules that require ISPs to remove any material that is accused -- again, without evidence or trial -- of infringing copyright. This has proved a disaster in the US and other countries, where it provides an easy means of censoring material, just by accusing it of infringing copyright.

  • * Mandatory prohibitions on breaking DRM, even if doing so for a lawful purpose (e.g., to make a work available to disabled people; for archival preservation; because you own the copyrighted work that is locked up with DRM)
 UPDATES:
This whole thing is  bizarre enough, and Huff Post just made it more so by claiming " The Administration is bowing to demands from a handful of corporations to keep the public in the dark."  That's right.  The Chamber of Commerce is making Obama do it.

Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement: Fact or Fiction? - Wired
Because the text of the treaty and relevant discussion documents remain secret, the public has no way of assessing whether and to what extent these and related concerns are merited," the groups said in a letter (.pdf) to trade representatives from the participating nations.

Two of the damnedest things ...

1. A week ago BGE replaced the meters in our neighborhood with units that could be read remotely.  Took maybe 3 minutes w/o power.  Yesterday we get a notice from BGE that says "many of the homes in your area have been undercharged for their service, but you are not one of them.  Have a nice day."  My wife's friend two doors down got the same letter, except hers said, "you have been grossly undercharged for years.  We'll let it slide but be prepared for the real world."

This makes no sense to me.  How could a new meter recall data from a mechanical meter

2. We,  both of us, were anxious to watch the morning media to see how the election spin went. Guess what?  Every local television channel in Baltimore and Washington came up with this message.

I called the number and am told they will reset ourset top boxes.  They do, and now I can't get any channel.  I'm transferred to a technician who asks "How can I help you?"  GHAK! I tell her, and in a few minutes she explains that the reason I can only get local channels is they have an outage in my area.  No, I tell her, I can only "Not Get" local channels, until you reset me, and NOW I get no channels.  That's because we have an outage in your are, and the estimated time to have you up and running is 2PM.

It's pretty damned obvious what's going on.  Payback by Obama for calling him a two-bit chiseling wetback mfcs.

RINO Recall

Has the alarm bell been heard?

21:06Pappy
Semi-related news: SoCal Assemblyman Anthony Adams (R-Claremont) is facing a recall. The petition has collected 52,000 signatures - 36,000 signatures were needed by Oct. 13.

Anthony voted with Democrats to support a budget plan with $13 billion in temporary tax hikes. Petitioners said Adams had campaigned on a promise to not raise taxes.

Apparently it's sunk in that there may be a special election in January. Anthony's gone from being dismissive, to hosting town meetings with his opponents (I should say 'holding town meetings and daring his opponents to show up - they did), to writing editorial articles that more or less attempt to reinforce his credentials, etc.

However, stories like this, especially when we are discussing a huge corporate company, have a way of becoming bigger than they really are because of the medias obsession with contamination in restaurants.

Reid reassures left Lieberman on board
Lieberman’s vote is crucial because he likely represents the 60th vote needed to end debate in the Senate. Without him, Reid would be forced to fish on the other side of the aisle for a vote, something that has not come easily this Congress.
Sen. Joe Lieberman has reached a private understanding with Majority Leader Harry Reid that he will not block a final vote on healthcare reform, according to two sources briefed on the matter.

The unpredictable Democrat-turned-Independent last week publicly stated he would join Republicans in filibustering the Democratic legislation after Reid (D-Nev.) announced he had included a government-run health insurance plan in the bill.

But sources said Reid’s staff is telling liberal interest groups that Lieberman (Conn.) has assured Reid he will vote with Democrats in the necessary procedural vote to end debate, perhaps with intentions to change the bill.

“Lieberman keeps assuring Reid that he’s OK,” said one source. “But he’s one of those characters — you never know with Joe.

(bring back America I)

You might think this is a late start, but you'd be wrong.  Since 4:AM EST I've been working on secret bacon recipes - FOR YOU!  But that's over.  Now, election day.

In New Jersey, Republican challenger Chris Christie has failed to gain the 15 point lead necessary to eke out a victory over a Democrat, so it looks bad for Jerseyites.  Still, Democrats are clearly worried.

N.J. Democrats Paying for Third-Party Robocalls

So, the Democrats seem to have decided the best use of at least some of their resources, in a tight race, is to throw some cash into the third-party Daggett campaign. When you're running a dirty-trick robocall, the tagline with the address of the Democratic HQ is a giveaway. Audio:

Obama will definitely lose Virginia, and likely New York 23.  So what?  The media won't factor Obama's plummeting approval, and Millie the Avon lady wouldn't care if they did, because she lives in Indiana.

Following release of the House health care plan by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, 42% of voters now support the Congressional effort while 54% are opposed.

Fifteen percent (15%) say that Congress is doing a good or an excellent job while 53% rate Congressional performance as poor.

Nearly half the conservatives nationwide do not consider themselves Republicans.

Confidence in the War on Terror has fallen to the lowest level in three years. Just 34% now believe the U.S. and its allies are winning, down from 62% earlier in the year.

Don't need no stinking election results to know this, even without the polls. You can feel it. The most disturbing thing to me is is the war on terror (ha!) results.  What Obama has done here is absolutely criminal, on a global basis.  I plucked this from the Lounge last week, but didn't mention it because it was so disturbing to me.

Glenmore  With the Administration's disrespect of all things military it stands to reason that a lot of our best soldiers etc. will leave.

With the economy a mess and unemployment way up, it stands to reason that a lot of less-than-desirable people will be willing to join - and bring their entitlement mentality with them.

For the Administration it's a win-win: they get rid of an excellent, professional, non-political military and replace it with a mediocre, dependent military perfect for political abuse (think Brownshirts.) (Don't worry about Constitutionality - government hasn't been concerned about that for years.)

This is my worse nightmare, because at some point I'm certain that it all will come down to who the military sides with in one gigantic showdown.

Palin does Biden

Sarah Palin: Response to Vice President Biden's Comments Today About My Position On Energy Independence

R'voltin' Joe was in Watertown stumping for Donk Owens today, and stepped on the wrong fashionable pumps.
As the vice president knows, I have always advocated an all-of-the-above approach to American energy independence. Among other things, my alternative energy goal for Alaska sits at 50 percent because Alaska reached more than 20 percent during my term in office. The Obama-Biden administration, on the other hand, recently announced a renewable goal of only 25 percent. However, domestic drilling should remain a top priority in order to meet America’s consumption and security needs.

The vice president’s extreme opposition to domestic energy development goes all the way back to 1973 when he opposed the Alaska pipeline bill. As Ann Coulter pointed out, “Biden cast one of only five votes against the pipeline that has produced more than 15 billion barrels of oil, supplied nearly 20 percent of this nation’s oil, created tens of thousands of jobs, added hundreds of billions of dollars to the U.S. economy and reduced money transfers to the nation’s enemies by about the same amount.”

This nonsensical opposition to American domestic energy development continues to this day. Apparently the Obama-Biden administration only approves of offshore drilling in Brazil, where it will provide security and jobs for Brazilians. This election is about American security and American jobs.

There’s one way to tell Vice President Biden that we’re tired of folks in Washington distorting our message and hampering our nation’s progress: Hoffman, Baby, Hoffman!
