Stuff

We have here a 3 in 1 post.
  1. interesting premise;
  2. an ad homonym "birther" dis,
  3. circular password idiocy.

YOU GET IT ALL!
I read John Podhoretz's  Patriotic opposition Loving a nation that elected O  last week.

“   How are those of us who stand in opposition to the domestic agenda and foreign-policy views of President Obama and his administration to think about this country in 2010 as we approach the nation's birthday on Sunday?

Or, to put it another way: How should a self-described patriot think, act and talk about the United States if that self-described patriot believes the elected leadership of the United States has led the country into a ditch that threatens to expand into a bottomless chasm?

Does the fault lie with the president and his party, or does it reside in the electorate that installed them? If it resides in the electorate, what does that say about the condition of the United States?

In the case of Barack Obama, the root questions are: Who is he and why is he doing this?
”

Here's where I got sidetracked.

“ Opponents answer the question in many ways, from the clear-cut (he's a Chicago Democrat) to the more suggestive (he's a 1970s-era campus leftist) to the silly (he wasn't born in America) to the sinister (he's a secret Muslim or Communist).
”

In the comments, I wanted to ask Mr.  Podhoretz (whom I hold in high regard);  "John, which documents proffered  by Obama did you find most convincing inre his Hawaiian birth?"

Of course I had to sign in, which I did using my New York Post password - that did not work.
Okay, lets try "I forgot my password."
Nope.  "We have no record of anyone using that e-mail address."
Okay, I'll  register for a new password.
"That e-mail address is already in use."

Sigh.  Maybe Podhoretz reads this blog and will answer?

Aw, knots!

Knots to You
Lost knowledge: ropes and knots

I took a piece of plywood and painted it black. Then, using my Boy Scout handbook as a guide, tied clothesline (remember that?) into several examples, which were then nailed to the board.  My mom said it was just wonderful.  Alas, that Boy Scout project didn't win squat in the contest; so much for stupid knots.

It wasn't until I took up sailing in the '80's that actually knowing how to tie knots, and quickly, became a necessary art form; I become a practitioner, and then expert knotster.  There is something deeply satisfying in knowing how to tie the right knot, at the right time.  It also seems to summon forth from women some ancient  racial memory of being in in the company of a manly man.  Makes them shudder amidships.

Here's everything you'll ever need to know about knots. I have no more use for them.  Sigh.
Well, maybe  this one .

2012 and the GOP's Palin trap

eye on the prize
Reagan-Obama, same thing?

Thank goodness for Lib rags like Salon, which have been advising the GOP about who not to run since, what? 1980?  News editor Steve Kornack here warns about  2012 and the GOP's Palin trap, just in case foolish Republican primary voters are feeling suicidal.

“ [A] ticket headed by Palin would be hard-pressed to break 40%. Palin as the nominee would probably make 2012 the most lopsided election victory for the incumbent President since 1984.
”

That would be Mondale v. Reagan.

“ The relevance to Palin is obvious: Like Mondale in '84, she would represent to the general election audience of 2012 just about everything they'd rejected in 2008 (and 2006). In nominating her, Republicans would be saying to the country, "We have learned nothing these last four years. We have changed nothing."
”

* Smacks head* Oh, that relevance!

1984  Having endured four years of Carter malaise,  the nation is filled with new vigor and renewed national pride after Ronald Reagan's first term.  Nobody is sorry they voted for him, and are certainly not about to bring in a Carter-clone replacement (which is why Mondale is thrown to the dogs by the DNC to begin with) .

2012  The parallels are -- huh?   It would be a fatal mistake? ...  to remind voters -- of the bullet they dodged by  rejecting Palin-McCain for this heaping pile of Obama stink?  Nice try Steve.

The solution to this long-standing problem of GOP incompetence is easy.  My preference would be to turn the party over to Sarah Palin to remake entirely, with fresh people with fresh (read "tea party") ideas.  Absent that, and likely more palatable to weak sisters, is to turn the party over to Karl Rove, with the caveat that nobody who served in the Bush Administration (either one), or was a Speaker of the House, is allowed in the building. Victory follows.

Gets a Warning
“ What follows is a non-verbatim account of an interview with Mr. X. His exact language is in quotes. Mr. X was deeply involved in Chicago Machine politics for many years. He has intimate knowledge of those responsible for manipulating the Cook County electoral process toward the outcome intended by the Machine. He eventually went undercover for the FBI and testified in trials that resulted in multiple convictions. He now lives outside Illinois. Mr. X has reason to believe that Nevada GOP Senatorial Candidate Sharron Angle, who is running against Sen. Harry Reid, will face a level of corrupt electioneering practices equal to what he witnessed for many years in Chicago. This is his warning to the Angle Campaign. -

“

I posted this Bartle Bull video in the midst of our Fourth of July reverie, so I fear it didn't reach a wide audience. It's part Amy Proctor's comprehensive look at voter fraud and intimidation.  I'm embedding it again because it is so apropos to the Big Story.  Below, some snippets from the American Prospect story.

The first thing the Angle Campaign has to do is scrub the voter registration list and get the dead people, the people who have moved away from Nevada, and the other fictitious voters off the list.

"There are thousands of them there."

In the 2008 election, ACORN's Las Vegas office got raided by the police in early October.  Its people were charged with 26 counts of voter fraud and 13 counts for compensating those who were registering voters; they're felony charges.  In August 2009, a Nevada director for ACORN pled guilty to conspiracy to compensate workers for registering of voters.

Just because ACORN was busted in Las Vegas doesn't mean that voter fraud is over there.  In fact it's the opposite. To think otherwise is "crazy."

"And I'm sure there are plenty of groups out there who will take money to register phony voters."

Angle's supporters have to find the phony names on the voter registration list. There'll be thousands of them, many of whom will be voting by absentee ballot.

"In Chicago in every election there are many absentee ballots and a lot of them are sent in by Precinct Captains, or by someone associated with the campaign." (continued)

Ice Cream Machine

Here it is!

Boned Jello
This is the Cuisinart ice cream maker that people on this blog bought for us. I thought I'd have to do that whole custard thing, where you blend eggs, and sugar and then introduce into hot milk, etc.  But no. I found another recipe which is this.

1 cup milk
1 cup cream
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp Vanilla

Pour it in the bucket, set the timer for 20 minutes and presto.  Truly great tasting ice cream, but everyone agreed that the sugar needs cutting back.  The machine auto stops when a certain consistency is reached, which resembles the Dairy Queen product.  I put the pail in the freeze for about 30 minutes and it firmed up nicely.  The suggested retail is $399, so $139 was a great bargain for this refurbished WOOT (that came in new packaging).  It's called commercial grade, which I take means durability, because you can only make a quart and a half at a time.  It has a small footrint, but is heavy as all hell.  Thanks again y'all.  My kids and granddaughter thank you too.

“ Also appearing on the show with Mr. Gore was the new head of the U. N.’s climate panel, Sucrose Sucrose-Ghali, sister of former U. N. General Secretary Boutros Boutros-Ghali.  Both she and Gore acknowledged that global warming has been exposed as a sophisticated hoax perpetrated by several now-discredited climatologists.  “The scientists responsible were vested in trying to prove something that wasn’t so in order to secure grants and garner honors and fame,” Boutros-Ghali said.  “They assumed they’d never be found out. Shows what they know.”
”

Is that a pencil in your pocket?

That, last week from Andrew Breitbart's  Big Journalism, was also prominently featured on Drudge, but I'm just now reading the full text.  It smacks of being a parody, wot?  Former UN Secretary General and unindicted felon Boutros Boutros-Ghali has a sister, and newly named  head of the U. N.’s climate panel, named Sucrose Sucrose-Ghali?  Get out!  Both appear on Larry King's show where  they admit Gore's whole anthropogenic global warming scam was a scam!; but he knew that (!),  and the real problem all along has been anthropogenic global cooling?  GET OUT!  And while all this is happening, a woman in Oregon presents semen stained pants to police as proof of Al Gore's sexual assault on her.  GET OUT! Hey Al, GTFO!

“ Megyn Kelly of Fox News interviewed J. Amy Proctor has,  I think, cobbled together the best "coroners inquest" I've seen, into the matter of the (dropped) dead  Black Panther voter discrimination case.   I urge you to first watch this  interview with Bartle Bull, where he actually makes the case for Obama's removal from office. Public sector unions

J'accuse!
“ The Governor wants to cap annual property tax increases at 2.5%, on the model of the successful cap that Massachusetts imposed in 1980. Over the next 27 years, property taxes in the Bay State rose 22% compared to 68% nationwide and 102% in New Jersey.

The cap is crucial to preventing local Garden State school districts, which are dominated by teachers unions, from raising taxes and thus defeating whatever spending restraint Mr. Christie can impose on Trenton. The unions know this, which is why they've spent some $7 million in TV ads portraying Mr. Christie as the scourge of police, firefighters and children.

”

Boned Jello

I think it's important to know the identities, so as to dishonor their memory in perpetuity, of America's  rat bastard politicians.   Reading  Chris Christie fights for a cap on property taxes caused me to wonder which RB to blame for allowing public sector workers to unionize in the first instance?  I mean, the idea of allowing inmates to run the asylum is so manifestly an insane circular error,  how did it happen?  Believe me, it's not easy to find the answer, but  Doug Ross knows.

We can thank a  mayor from NYC, Robert Wagner, for promulgating the initial outrage, and John F. Kennedy for taking his pass over the national goal line.  Come to think about it, aside from being the first good looking American president, this seems to be JFK's single, aside from being assassinated,  legacy.   And a very bad one.  To the pitchforks then!

Mental Illness: Obama's family
tree is replete with the unbalanced.

Almost immediately after posting on  A Shrink Asks:What's Wrong with Obama? yesterday, and recognizing that relatively few people move on to read full articles, I regretted not including this excerpt. Now I have.
“ --Mental Illness: Obama's family tree is replete with the unbalanced. His maternal great-grandmother committed suicide. His grandfather, Stanley Dunham, was particularly unhinged: He was expelled from high school for punching his principal; named his daughter Stanley because he wanted a boy; and exposed young Barry to not just drunken trash talk, but unrestricted visits with alleged pedophile Frank Marshall Davis (who might or might not be Obama's biological father). Barack Sr. was an abusive, alcoholic bigamist.

Since mental illness runs in the family, does Obama have any signs? Yes and no. No, he is not a schizophrenic babbling about Martians. But there are red flags for some other conditions.

Snipettes from Amy Miller's  I Will Stand Behind Jan Brewer
“ ...  I think Governor Brewer’s obvious anger is a good thing, because it finally shows–if I may be so bold–that Jan Brewer is OVER IT. She’s done the dance, sung the songs, met with the bureaucrats, and what has it gotten her? A pretty lawsuit, and a battalion of Obama’s flying monkeys bearing a friggin’ POWERPOINT presentation.

The situation is so devolved it’s almost comical. On one hand we’ve got the President of the United States throwing together a slideshow basically telling a fellow executive officer to go jump off a bridge; on the other, we’ve got idiot politicians rolling over for the minority vote, and US cities feeling completely comfortable with giving the finger to federal immigration laws ....

...  right now, Obama is daring Jan Brewer to defy his Administration.  ...

Standing behind Jan Brewer means standing up in the court of public opinion. It means not keeping your mouth shut when you hear people talking about that disgusting bunch of racist pigs down in Arizona. It might mean losing friends; I personally have lost two over this whole mess, but I’m okay with it if it means that by doing so, I regained little bit of control over the debate.

Sea Change

Inquiring mind ...

I've asked this before as an aside, or a comment,  but I really do want to know.  In the event that, say, the entire left coast fell into the sea, would California, Oregon and Washington's congressional delegation be unseated?  When?    Who decides?  I think this needs to be settled anon! I've been praying real hard, and there's a " tingling."

A Shrink Asks:
What's Wrong with Obama?

Cuzzin Ricky brought this, what I missed, to my attention.  First thing I saw was this apparent lede --  The 9mm won't save your ass Obama!  It's actually an oddly placed advertisement for combat arms training, but it made me wet.

Robin of Berkeley, a shrink from  ... you know,  begins ... "Obama's odd mannerisms intrigue a psychotherapist like me. He also presents a serious diagnostic challenge. "   Actually this is a good read even if it was about a nobody.  Here's a few snippets about Mr. Nutjob.
Boned Jello
“ For one, Obama's teleprompter and the men behind the Blackberry keep him well-scripted. We know so little about the facts of his life.

But it's more than just a lack of information. Obama himself is a strange bird. He doesn't fit easily into any diagnostic category.

Many people attribute Obama's oddness to his narcissism. True, Obama has a gargantuan ego, and he is notoriously thin-skinned.

Yet a personality disorder like narcissism does not explain Obama's strangeness: his giggling while being asked about the economy; his continuing a shout-out rather than announcing the Ft. Hood shootings; or his vacations, golfing, partying and fundraising during the calamitous oil spill.

Take also Obama's declaring on the "Today Show" that he wants to know whose ass to kick. Consummate narcissists would never stoop to this vulgar display of adolescent machismo.

Obama is flat when passion is needed; he's aggressive when savvy is required. What's most worrisome is that Obama doesn't even realize that his behavior is inappropriate.

So if it's not just simple narcissism, what is wrong with Obama? Since I've never evaluated him, I can't say for sure. But I can hazard some educated guesses.

If I saw a client as disconnected as him, the first thing I would wonder: Is something wrong with his brain? And I'd consider the following theoretical diagnostic possibilities.

--Physical problems: There are a multitude of physiological conditions that can cause people to act strangely. For instance ... continue
