Reparations Bonanza!

Last week we learned that Obama "Backs Bill to Collect Employee Pay Information from Businesses."

“ The Obama administration is backing legislation  that includes regulations requiring U.S. businesses to provide to the government data about employee pay as it relates to the sex, race and national origin of employees
”

He calls it the "Paycheck Fairness Act."  Of course we know by now that any legislation containing the word "fairness" means redistribution of wealth  or, as Karl Marx more succinctly put it in his Democrat Party Manifesto, "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs."  Knowing Obama as we now do, his motive here may be further refined to read "REPARATIONS."  The good thing is that the United States has a long history of sending armies to stop communist aggression, and neutralize its leaders.

Here's another insidious example of how easily our privacy is being compromised.  Wal-Mart Installing Permanent ID Tags to Track Jeans and Underwear

“ Wal-Mart Stores Inc. plans to roll out sophisticated electronic ID tags to track individual pairs of jeans and underwear, the first step in a system that advocates say better controls inventory but some critics say raises privacy concerns.

Boned Jello
Starting next month, the retailer will place removable "smart tags" on individual garments that can be read by a hand-held scanner. Wal-Mart workers will be able to quickly learn, for instance, which size of Wrangler jeans is missing, with the aim of ensuring shelves are optimally stocked and inventory tightly watched. If successful, the radio-frequency ID tags will be rolled out on other products at Wal-Mart's more than 3,750 U.S. stores.

While the tags can be removed from clothing and packages, they can't be turned off, and they are trackable. Some privacy advocates hypothesize that unscrupulous marketers or criminals will be able to drive by consumers' homes and scan their garbage to discover what they have recently bought.

I wonder how long it took CBS News to find a "neo-Nazi?" And doesn't that term apply to Obamunists anyway? It's all so confusing. Sort of like Yugoslavia during WWII when the diversity banded together to stop Hitler.

Another Obamunist Gambit

"Why can't Arizona be as inhospitable as they wish to people who have entered or remained in the United States?"

Boned Jello

The Justice Department is asking Judge Bolton to bar Arizona's immigration law from going into effect next week, but she's having none of it apparently, The Obamunistas are arguing that  federal law pre-empts Arizona's law.  "Where is the pre-emption if everybody who is arrested for some crime has their immigration status checked,"  she asked?

Boned Jello
But, in the next breath she " suggested that making it a state crime to lack immigration documents could violate a Supreme Court ruling  prohibiting states from creating their own "immigration registration systems," (LA TIMES).

Huh?  What do the Obamunists call cities who've enacted "safe havens, " where federal law is flat nullified?  And, how does Arizona's law in any way contradict federal immigration statute in the first case?

Pray that Arizona holds her ground here;  this is a seminal moment in the movement to reclaim our government.

America's Ruling Class --
And the Perils of Revolution

Boned Jello

“Thus began the Progressive Era. When Woodrow Wilson in 1914 was asked "can't you let anything alone?" he answered with, "I let everything alone that you can show me is not itself moving in the wrong direction, but I am not going to let those things alone that I see are going down-hill." Wilson spoke for the thousands of well-off Americans who patronized the spas at places like Chautauqua and Lake Mohonk. By such upper-middle-class waters, progressives who imagined themselves the world's examples and the world's reformers dreamt big dreams of establishing order, justice, and peace at home and abroad. Neither were they shy about their desire for power. Wilson was the first American statesman to argue that the Founders had done badly by depriving the U.S. government of the power to reshape American society. Nor was Wilson the last to invade a foreign country (Mexico) to "teach [them] to elect good men."

Over civilized?

Buncha Big Fat Over-Lawyered Pussies
Yes, us.

I watched a crime show today.  A woman, we'll call her Helen, was accused of killing her employer, the owner of a nursing home.  This is a partial list of the evidence they had against  her.
  1. She had just delivered  a child by Cesarean birth, but went back to work the next day.
  2. The nursing home administrator, it was discovered she'd been embezzling the crap out of it, and the employer had been looking at the books.  Ruh-roh.
  3. Witnesses saw a woman matching Helen's description trying to set a car on fire by wicking the gas tank.
  4. They chased her for a bit before going back to put put the fire before the car exploded.
  5. They said the women was carrying a small package in one arm, and holding her abdomen as she ran.
  6. Inside the car they found Helen's employer, shot in the head at close range.
  7. The recovered gun belonged to her boyfriend who said had taken it off his bureau that very morning.
  8. The victim's blood was found in the gun barrel.
  9. Helen's clothing tested positive for gun powder.
  10. Helen alibied that she was  shopping at  Target, about 30 minutes away, during the time in question.  Cell phone recorded showed her making a call at the crime scene during that time.
The D.A.didn't want to take it before a jury, because he didn't have an eye witness putting Helen in the car!?!.  He cut a deal for second degree manslaughter.  She'll be out of prison in 8 years or so.

This video was made in China, but could have been made anywhere in the USA 50 years ago.  And we liked it that way.

Media Crime

Boned Jello

Journolist is the journalistic equivalent of  Climolist, the e-mail server through which climatologists discussed cooking data to  support spurious claims of  man caused global warming (now cooling).  Here, Chairman Ann expands our knowledge about the Journo-niks.
“ As we now know from the Journolist list-serv, where hundreds of liberal journalists chat with one another, and which was leaked to Daily Caller this week, journalists cry "racism" whenever they need to distract from bad news for Obama. (Ironically, this story did not make headlines.)

When the Rev. Jeremiah Wright scandal broke during the 2008 campaign, the first response of Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent was to demand that they start randomly picking conservatives -- "Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares -- and call them racists."

Ackerman, frequent guest on MSNBC's "Rachel Maddow Show," continued on Journolist:

"What is necessary is to raise the cost on the right of going after the left. In other words, find a rightwinger's [sic] and smash it through a plate-glass window. Take a snapshot of the bleeding mess and send it out in a Christmas card to let the right know that it needs to live in a state of constant fear. Obviously I mean this rhetorically."
”
I like Ackerman, because he understands this is a death struggle, and anything goes.  Obama exhibits the same in-your-face attitude.

The nation is in the grips of an organized socialist mafia.  We need  some "Untouchables" with guns and warrants.  If their motto is "Pass legislation while you can, and fix it later," ours should be be "shoot first and then shoot them again to make sure."  In a literary sense, of course.

"My estimates suggest (we) could lose perhaps 5 million jobs and lose about 500 billion worth of GDP if unionization returned to levels we had in the 1970s and if new union members were able to command the 15 percent wage premium that historically is applied to union membership. So we would have a much sicker economy than we have right now."

During the the Senate Ethics Committee's "Keating Five" investigation  in late 1989, Alan Cranston absented himself after claiming he was being treated for cancer ( miraculously cured when the hearings ended). At some point a legislative aide, testifying in Cranston's behalf, casually admitted that she, and other staffers, would routinely change, insert and otherwise "clarify" enacted  legislation during the conference committee that reconciled differences in House and Senate versions. *Gasps*  Big hub-bub ensued, most likely, in retrospect,  for the benefit of the C-Span audience.¹

That this could happen was news to me, and begged the question, "How in hell are we to know what laws that govern our behavior  were actually debated and voted on, and which were casually inserted by some staffer with a yen?"  The 10 million pages, or so,  that comprise the Obamacare legislation,  prolly contains hundreds of little treasures like the gold buyer tax.   We'll find out what they are when the IRS sends the penalty notice.

Obama Attempt to Prevent AZ Law from Taking Effect

“

According to Senator Pearce’s memorandum (Case No. 10-cv-01413-SRB), filed by Judicial Watch on July 20, 2010:

The law of this Circuit is clear.  In 1983, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit held that nothing in federal law precludes a city from enforcing the criminal provisions of immigration law.  Gonzalez v. City of Peoria, 722 F.2d 468, 476 (9th Cir. 1983).  By enacting Senate Bill 1070, as amended by House Bill 2162 (“SB 1070”), the Arizona legislature simply codified already existing enforcement provisions of federal law that has been the law of the land in some regard for more than fifty years.

By seeking to enjoin Sections 1-6 of SB 1070 from taking effect, Plaintiff seeks to overturn 20 years of precedent.  Plaintiff also asks that this Court ignore Congress’ intentions that states and localities play a vital role in immigration enforcement efforts…Plaintiff’s motion is without merit and a preliminary injunction is not warranted.

”
I'm a little bummed that the challenge comes, not from  Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard's office, nor the Arizona senate, but from Judicial Watch on behalf of Sen Russell Pearce, Author of Arizona SB 1070.   Seems to indicate a certain lack of resoluteness.  Am I missing something?  I hope.

Journolist Smoking-gun

Documents show media plotting to kill
stories about Rev. Jeremiah Wright

Boned Jello

“ It was the moment of greatest peril for then-Sen. Barack Obama’s political career. In the heat of the presidential campaign, videos surfaced of Obama’s pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, angrily denouncing whites, the U.S. government and America itself. Obama had once bragged of his closeness to Wright. Now the black nationalist preacher’s rhetoric was threatening to torpedo Obama’s campaign.

Boned Jello
The crisis reached a howling pitch in mid-April, 2008, at an ABC News debate moderated by Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos. Gibson asked Obama why it had taken him so long – nearly a year since Wright’s remarks became public – to dissociate himself from them. Stephanopoulos asked, “Do you think Reverend Wright loves America as much as you do?”

Watching this all at home were members of Journolist, a listserv comprised of several hundred liberal journalists, as well as like-minded professors and activists. The tough questioning from the ABC anchors left many of them outraged. “George [Stephanopoulos],” fumed Richard Kim of the Nation, is “being a disgusting little rat snake.”

Others went further. According to records obtained by The Daily Caller, at several points during the 2008 presidential campaign a group of liberal journalists took radical steps to protect their favored candidate. Employees of news organizations including Time, Politico, the Huffington Post, the Baltimore Sun, the Guardian, Salon and the New Republic participated in outpourings of anger over how Obama had been treated in the media, and in some cases plotted to fix the damage.

In one instance, Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent urged his colleagues to deflect attention from Obama’s relationship with Wright by changing the subject. Pick one of Obama’s conservative critics, Ackerman wrote, “Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists.”

LETTER From the Hustings:
Democrats want to cut Medicare

Boned Jello
“ The Democrats keep trying to convince the public that Republicans want to cut Medicare. They obviously believe in the philosophy of telling a lie until it becomes accepted as truth. Fact: It was Rep. Dave Obey who proudly "gavelled in" the health care bill that contains a half a trillion dollars in Medicare cuts. It also will drastically cut the Medicare Advantage plan, a plan that is working reasonably well.

Obama himself said that he wants to get rid of Medicare Advantage. This would adversely affect a lot of seniors in this area. It was also on the Democrats' watch that Social Security recipients got no cost of living increase this year. Not a dime. At the same time, Congress got another raise of somewhere near $5,000.

“ These fears are mostly overblown. Some of the alarmist scenarios are the opposite of what would more likely unfold after an Israeli attack. Although dangerous for Israel, a preventive strike remains the most effective answer to the possibility of Khamenei and the Revolutionary Guards having nuclear weapons. Provided the Israeli air force is capable of executing it, and assuming no U.S. military action, an Israeli bombardment remains the only conceivable means of derailing or seriously delaying Iran’s nuclear program and—equally important—traumatizing Tehran.

Oil and Lockerbie

Ginned up

Boned Jello
Drudge links to a London Evening Standard story, the full title of which is "David Cameron braced for American anger over BP leak and Lockerbie deal."  The oil leak garners exactly zero attention in the story, which is good, because the notion that "Americans" are angry at BP, or Britain, over the oil leak requires a good deal of journalistic license to sell.  I will wager that along the Gulf coast, there's more anger at the Obama administration for its inept, meddling, and dishonest role in the clean-up.

There would be every reason in the world for Americans to be angry if BP did exert pressure to release  Lockerbie bomber, Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, "in return for lucrative drilling rights handed to the oil giant by Tripoli.  Except.  Except not two in a million Americans know who the hell Abdelbaset al-Megrahi is, or remember what he did.  Eighty-seven percent recognize  a Muslim name, and figure he prolly should be executed for something, but what?

Prime Minister Cameron's visit will be historically notable only for the opportunity the left media will use to gin up more oil drilling angst, and that Cameron will return home hating Obama's  guts.  Even more.

I'm beginning a new category to handle posts like this.  Self indulgent rambles. Carry on.

Public trash

Public Housing Culture

“ The problem with public housing is that the residents are not the owners.   The people that live in the house did not earn the house, but were loaned the  property from the true owners, the taxpayers. Because of this, the residents do not have the "pride of ownership" that comes with the hard work necessary.  In  fact, the opposite happens and the residents resent their benefactors because the very house is a constant reminder that they themselves did not earn the right to live in the house. They do not appreciate the value of the property and see no need to maintain or respect it in any way.

The result is the same whether you are talking about a studio apartment or a magnificent mansion full of priceless antiques. If the people who live there do not feel they earned the privilege, they will make this known through their actions. The picture below illustrates the point

I worked for ten years for a former member of the Goldman Sachs Management Committee who made partner when the firm was about more than just making as much money as fast as it can, any way it can, risk be damned. He was the finest gentleman I've met in my thirty-plus year business career. TH - you know who I'm talking about.

I've never seen a more blatant example of transparent insincerity than when I hear Blankfein heave up his garbage about the firm's devotion to its clients. Goldman doesn't have clients, it has counterparties.

Boned Jello

I feel badly for my former boss, having to live out his days seeing the firm he devoted his life to converting itself into a huge hedge fund and sinking to the disgusting level it has. The lightning speed with which Goldman converted itself to a bank holding company was laughable, but nothing could top hearing Blankfein say the firm had its CDS positions with AIG fully hedged and was in no danger - none at all - had AIG done a face-plant in the turf. Hey Lloyd, I may not be smart enough to work in your shop, but that doesn't make me a complete moron. So please, refrain from pissing on my shoes and telling me it's raining.

Were these guys still playing with their own capital, Goldman would not be populated with all the grasping snakes now in residence there. When Wall Street's private partnerships converted to public ownership, the respect for firm capital vanished. The Street treats shareholders' capital the way Congress treats taxpayers' funds - it's strictly Other People's Money. And sadly, 99% of people on earth treat OPM with no more caution and respect than they do a glass of water. Tap water.

I grew up in business having the strongest respect for the name Goldman Sachs and now everything about the place makes me want to puke.
