A University of Michigan department chairwoman has published an article titled, “It’s Okay To Hate Republicans,” which will probably make all of her conservative students feel really comfortable and totally certain that they’re being graded fairly.  “I hate Republicans,” communications department chairwoman and professor Susan J. Douglas boldly declares in the opening of the piece. “I can’t stand the thought of having to spend the next two years watching Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Ted Cruz, Darrell Issa or any of the legions of other blowhards denying climate change, thwarting immigration reform or championing fetal ‘personhood.’” She writes that although the fact that her “tendency is to blame the Republicans . . . may seem biased,” historical and psychological research back her up, and so it’s basically actually a fact that Republicans are bad! Douglas said that in the 1970s she did work for a Republican, Rhode Island’s senate minority leader Fred Lippitt, but she hates them all now because Lippitt was a “brand of Republican” who no longer exists in that he was “fiscally conservative but progressive about women’s rights, racial justice and environmental preservation.” Republicans now, she writes, are focused on the “determined vilification” of others, and have “crafted a political identity that rests on a complete repudiation of the idea that the opposing party and its followers have any legitimacy at all.” (Apparently, the irony of this accusation given the content of her own article was lost on her.) Charles Schumer -- who, last we checked, opposed the Iran deal -- proclaiming "fair-minded Americans should acknowledge the president's strong achievements in combating and containing Iran." The networks sounded just like that on a previous night for "victory," Sept. 2, when liberal Sen. Barbara Mikulski made the agreement veto-proof. "A big victory for President Obama," announced ABC anchor David Muir. "In a major win for the Obama administration, the nuclear deal with Iran now appears unstoppable," gushed NBC anchor Lester Holt. "This is a major diplomatic victory for the President. ... This is something that will shape the Obama legacy," declared CNN reporter Jim Acosta. These Obama servants have a problem with those aforementioned "fair-minded Americans." They don't trust the Iranians as far as they can throw them. NBC's Andrea Mitchell briefly mentioned on NBC that "Polls show Americans are sharply divided over the agreement but Republican candidates sure aren't." If George W. BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The war in Syria is forcing millions to flee their homes, and the United States is working to accept 10,000 of the fleeing refugees over the next year. “Just tell us where to find the white racists you want beheaded" The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Baltimore has resettled more than two dozen Syrians so far this year, and they are preparing to help more. “They are desperate to seek safety,” the IRC’s executive director, Ruben Chandrasekar, said. “They are desperate to be given a new chance at a new life.” The International Rescue Committee in Baltimore has welcomed Syrians by providing them with the tools, money, healthcare, food stamps and modern dress and sports wardrobes to succeed, including a furnished apartment and even employment as a Baltimore City police officer. They say their program is successful because refugees are eager to start their new lives free from prosecution. “They want nothing more than to get employed, collect their tax refunds, and be able to do the normal stuff you and I take for granted,” said Chandrasekar. Nearly 90 percent of the refugees the IRC assists become self sufficient, which in turn helps Baltimore thrive as a city. The citzens of Baltimore were not asked what they thought about all this. Gummint Bird In The Hand? First the Filthy*Obama Administration began pressuring public school systems. If the school systems wanted to keep federal money coming in, they needed to allow boys to use the girls’ bathroom if the boys decided they were girls. Parents did not like it, but in suburban Northern Virginia, the school board told the parents to go to hell and told the boys to get on in the girls’ bathroom if they wanted. While the wording of the newly-proposed regulation doesn’t technically force insurance companies to start paying for gender reassignment surgeries, it does say that HHS would investigate and sue insurers if they refused to pay for them. Well, now the Obama Administration is coming after insurance companies. Cover sex reassignment surgeries or get sued is what is going to happen. In other words, Obamacare is not a vehicle for affordable healthcare, but rather a vehicle for “civil” rights activists to use to pressure private companies and use tax payer dollars. Never mind that transgenderism is a mental health issue. It is only a matter of time before the Obama Administration decides to cut off any funding and go after any psychiatrist who tries to help someone through the difficult mental issues surrounding transgenderism. Scott Walker- The Real Deal Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wis.) is proposing the elimination of federal employee unions as part of broader package of policies aimed at curbing the influence of unions across the country. Walker rocketed to national prominence on the back of his own anti-union policies back in Wisconsin, so he’s looking to elevate that push to the national level as he works to rebound from slipping poll numbers. The plan, released Monday morning, includes shuttering the National Labor Relations Board, a government agency that protects employee’s ability to join unions and rules on unfair labor allegations. Walker plans to call the NLRB a “one-sided proxy for the big union bosses — often at the expense of taxpayers and workers,” according to excerpts of a Monday afternoon speech at a Las Vegas town hall. It also calls for a federal “Right to Work” law, a measure that prohibits compelling employees to join a union. Opponents of the policy criticize it for impeding collective bargaining rights. “Any economic plan that does not bring our federal labor laws into the 21st Century is incomplete,” he will say. “To grow the economy at a higher rate, requires a comprehensive approach and reform of the labor unions is a key part of the plan.” States would be allowed to pass a law to overrule the national “Right to Work” presumption under Walker’s plan. “Many of the nation’s federal labor laws and regulations have stood as a roadblock to fairness and opportunity, and instead have created rigid, top-down workplaces that don’t really work for Americans,” he said in a statement released with the plan. “This will not be easy. Many—including the union bosses and the politicians they puppet—have long benefited from Washington rules that put the needs of special interests before those of middle-class families.” The plan would also halt the practice of automatically taking union fees out of federal workers’ paychecks, bar unions from spending fees for political purposes, repeal the Obama administration’s labor regulations, and repeal a 1930’s law that forces the government to pay federal contractors the “local prevailing wage,” as determined by the Department of Labor. The anti-union push mirrors the direction he’s taken Wisconsin, which has drawn both praise from supporters and the deep ire of critics. Walker helped shepherd a budget bill that restricted collective bargaining rights through the legislature in 2011, setting off wide-scale protests. That prompted a 2012 recall election, which Walker won, and protestors continue to target Walker while he’s out on the stump. Re: The Vivint Solar Saga In my last update (Aug 14) we were finally wired into BG&E's meter.  Just got our August bill which covered the period Jun 24-Aug 25; so we were only solar logged for 10 days.  Our actual electric bill was around $280 from BGE, but since we were on  BG&E's budget plan that billed  based on our projected average, with settlement at year end,  that's misleading. As you can see, our combined gas and electric use was  ½ of our neighbors (last month we were average efficient). I'm happy, especially since our air conditioner was running for most of that time.
