Our Real Legislature               Don't forget to turn on SCOTUS Blog if you want to watch a live execution.  I mean, our country's fate, as determined by the 9 guys in robes. The best case scenario, IMO, is the court throws out the entire Obamacare law in language so narrowly defined that Medicare is also thrown out.  Chance of that happening is about less than 0.  At a minimum then, the personal mandate must be stricken, meaning the government cannot force people to purchase heath insurance. The odd thing,  to me,  is that while better than two-thirds of us hate Obamacare, and want it thrown out, polls indicate that only 19% want the government to then leave health care as it is.  With 4% undecided, 77% want a new bill enacted. If they were asked what they want in a health care bill, what would they answer?  We already have Medicare and Medicaid, so what's left?  The answer, I'm afraid, would be Obamacare without any opt-in at all.  Obamacare for free, for everyone.  Just do it.  It's who we've become.

Lovelock still believes anthropogenic global warming is occurring and that mankind must lower its greenhouse gas emissions, but says it’s now clear the doomsday predictions, including his own (and Al Gore’s) were incorrect. Why?  He admits previous AGW predictions haven't panned out? Despite "blasting greens for treating global warming like a religion," he's sounding rather doctrinaire to me.  Still, he says things here that have the Green Nuts going more nuts, and that's a good thing. ”

I'm taking my down time opportunity to to clean up my mess, like deleting old programs I had installed, and have no idea why.  Here ↓ I threw out Power Director — Hello?!? ... using IOBit (Advance System Care).  Look at the crap that was left in the registry after running the Windows uninstall program.  Can you imagine?  Not all are this bad, but there are always at least a dozen registry items left.  By the by, I'm not entirely sure that Advance System Care was not responsible for my problems. Drew (from Moonbattery) had earlier sang its praises, so maybe not.  Years ago, I think it was SondraK who observed, "I don't know anyone who has more problems with their computer than you, and it's all because you keep installing software you don't need."  I didn't listen then, and I prolly won't now, because I like to create crisis in my life, or so it seems. Maybe because I miss the adrenaline rush from parachuting into occupied France, and stealing library books from Nazi General Choltitz- for kicks.  But, that episode, and the reprimand,  is still officially Top Secret.

I Love Fixing Stuff Since I'm able to operate willy-nilly in safe mode, I know the problem is not hardware, but software.  Drivers not loaded in Safe Mode Network  include audio, so maybe that's where to look first.  When I have everything backed-up properly I'll do a Windows Install.  If that dun't work, I'' do a Fresh Install.  If that don't work I'll Install Windows XP.  Hey, it's why I make the big bucks.

Then went into cconvulsions, puked, and blue screened. God, I love the challenge of it all!

If you've not watched one yet, Inspector Frost is Colombo, but not quite so dapper, and without his bedside manner.  A curmudgeon who gets the job done, by hook or crook.  Great writing, and acting. Last week I mentioned Doc Martin, and horry clap!   Mo Sup's into it - and last night she watched 5 episodes in a row; got up this morning,  and watched three more.  In all our years of marriage she has never been hooked on anything to this extent.  I'm just saying. ”

In 2000, Portman voted for implementation of the Kyoto Protocol, a treaty to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change meant to fight global warming by reducing emissions of greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide. The protocol has not been ratified by the U.S. Portman authored the Tropical Forest Conservation Act, a piece of legislation the Bush White House described as a “program [that] enables eligible low and middle income countries to substitute some portion of their debt obligations to the United States for domestic tropical forest conservation and protection activities.” Portman also voted to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act, newly structured by Joe Biden and offering  and increased number of visas to illegal-alien victims and offers specific protections of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender victims.
