Due Diligence

Oh My

Get me outta here!

Res Ipsa Loquitor

Regulars of this version of the C&S Blog know that I fell through a portal into another parallel universe (this one) that is so opposite from my home universe that I can't stand it.  But I can't find the return portal.  I hate this place where assholes win and all  good people have to apologize.  Where some alien  mother-fucker is president; claims he is one of the four best in history;  but  the only people who vote for him are Looters, Illegals, and smug pasty-face slugs so stupid that Jay Leno regularly features them failing to add 1+1.     This is upside down cake.  Example.

In my home world it's a matter of record that the Ninth U.S. Court of Appeals is reviled; famously known to have 99% of thier decisions overturned by the Supreme Court.  Really.  So look at this.

JFC!  Have I had a frontal lobotomy?  Is that it?  I wan't to watch Father Knows Best.

Aside from tossing rules of good journalism in favor of pushing the agenda of America's left-wing, I can't think of a more irresponsible action than what the Journal News did here.  Here's the NRA's reasoned response.  Here's CNN grilling Christopher Fountain.  Still, the left are famous for mounting personal attacks against people they don't agree with, and are seldom if ever challenged.  This time they paid for it.

Beatle Stories

   At The Cinema

This documentary film is surprisingly entertaining, and well done.  The most surprising?   A revelation told  by Frederic Seaman, John Lennon's assistant the last year of his life. During a political discussion Lennon opined that Jimmy Carter was a phony, and expressed enthusiasm for Ronald Reagan, whom he had met in California.  Seaman, a hard core lib activist was shocked.  Furthermore, it seems that Lennon would send Fred's father, a lifelong Communist (Fred's words), into apoplectic fits by dissing his Lib prattle. And he looked at his earlier "Imagine" days with embarrassment over his naivety.  Damn.

Another Award for U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts Jr.

Res Ipsa Loquitor

“ He single-handedly delivered the swing vote to approve Obamacare and perhaps even crushed the American health system that has been the envy of the world.*
WND has selected U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. for its first-ever Benedict Arnold Award.

*And in the process gave Obama the "legal" tools to impose totalitarian rule (no, I am not overstating) over the nation.  For starters, language in Obamacare gives the IRS unfettered powers of access to what were once private matters.  There will not be a single thought, word, deed, nor savings account that can escape their grasp. Our right to disappear (think about it) has vanished, and will soon be criminal.

I made him Time's "Man of the Year" ( in this spirit ) WND decided to award him their first ever Benedict Arnold Award.  Arnold of course was found-out before he was able to deliver West Point to the Brits; not so Roberts.

In his infamy, with a stroke of the pen the Chief Justice  accomplished what Hitler, Stalin, Mao, the Islamo Brotherhood and Democrat Party couldn't.  Deliver us unto subjugation.  No,Obama is not a Benedict Arnold.  He has never been an American, and has been quite up front about what he's about, to  anyone that  listens.  Still, he was held at bay until Roberts stabbed us in the back.  I guess Roberts can rightly be called the worst American in history.

“ I knew it was them the second they walked through the door. You can't miss a giant. I stepped up, and noticing me, the big guy went for his gun, which was tucked into the waistband of his pants. I was already drawing mine.

I grabbed the smaller man by the collar and put my Beretta to his head as the big man ran down the aisle, his gun drawn. I yelled for the customer who stood frozen at the counter to leave, and I told my two workers to get down.

Using the one robber -- remarkably docile with a gun to his head -- as a shield, I tried to see where the big guy went. He was at the end of the aisle, hiding behind the rack.

I was terrified.

I knew I needed to be aggressive or this would end badly -- it was already going badly.

"If you come out with anything but you d$@k in your hands and your buddy is the first to get it."

The man I held started to sob. I shook him so he would stand still.

"Then I'm going to kill you and send what's left of you to your mother in a paper bag."

"I carried a gun in New York City for more than a decade -- back when there were thousands of murders a year and the Bronx led the nation in killings. On at least four occasions, that gun saved my life, and in a couple of instances, the lives of people who were with me at the time.

The sobbing grew louder as I pressed the muzzle of the gun harder into the back of the man's head.

"And then, I promise you, I will find everything you love and I will kill it. I will hunt them down and I will kill them. Do you hear me?"

I could hear the big guy in the back starting to cry.

I don't remember what he said, but the next few minutes were taken up by him begging.

I told him to put his gun down and come up front, which he did. I tried to hold the two of them while waiting for the police, while the big guy begged to be let go. [Three in the Head cont]

John Kerry, Coward. Liar. Unfit.

RE: Sec State John Kerry
“
This article (John Kerry’s Quest to Communize Central America) triggered my pent-up rage.

I've been silent about John Kerry being named Sec/State. This coward who awarded himself the necessary three Purple Hearts that allowed him to exit Vietnam early, unscathed.  This man whose comrades later called him a fraud, unfit for the presidency. This man who lied (perjured himself) before Congress about atrocities committed by American troops in Vietnam.  This man whose organization voted on whether to assassinate Republican hawks in the Senate!!  This man who in violation of the law conducted his own "peace talks: with the North Vietnamese, and later with Nicaragua's Sandinista government; both acts that should have landed him in prison.  This man who threw his (unearned) medals away in a public display, and later admitted they were someone else's medals.  This man who promised a hundred times to release full public access to his military records (which many believe would have revealed his Dishonorable discharge and revocation of all awards),  and to this day has not. For starters.

You have to admit however, he is a perfect fit for the Obama Administration.

It is beyond comprehension that the imperious Nancy Pelosi  --  during her short-lived 4-year dictatorial rule of the House  --  would have allowed an open amendment process, especially one which would have hurt her San Francisco congressional district.  However, even some Democrats, whose leaders treated their opposition with absolute disrespect during the 111th Congress, gave credit to the Republicans for conducting an open-amendment process.

Thursday, on National Public Radio's website, Frank James reported that "Rep. George Miller (D-CA), a long-time ally of fellow Californian, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, likes the way the House is operating under Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), at least when it comes to how the debate over another stop-gap spending bill is being considered. Boehner has let the debate over the continuing resolution to fund government spending past March 4 occur under a so-called open rule that gives House members the chance to offer amendments. "Let there be bullshit"

“
Res Ipsa Loquitor

Is it just me, or does Kwanzaa seem to come earlier and earlier each year? And let's face it, Kwanzaa's gotten way too commercialized.

A few years ago, I suspended my annual Kwanzaa column because my triumph over this fake holiday seemed complete. The only people still celebrating Kwanzaa were presidential-statement writers and white female public school teachers.

But it seems to be creeping back. A few weeks ago, House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., complained about having to stick around Washington for fiscal cliff negotiations by accusing Republicans of not caring about "families" coming together to bond during Kwanzaa.

Thanks to the Clintonite media after the Oklahoma City slaughter, just the mention of it conjures up images of rednecks dressed in camouflage, running around the woods with plans to kill everyone isight.
But what really is the militia? According to United States Code, Title 10 USC § 311 -- Militia: composition and classes:

(a)The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.

(b)The classes of the militia are-

(1)the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and

(2)the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

The reason the Second Amendment was included in the founding documents was to ensure that the people could meet the threat of a standing army. Its writers knew from history that a standing army serves only the government, not the people. Since the form of government they provided rested the ultimate authority with the people, it was only fitting and proper that the people had a means to ensure their power was not usurped. Obama, a man recognized as, and invested with the full powers of the President is manifestly a clear and present danger to the United States of America.   Academically speaking.

A Christmas Story

CHRISTMAS
            Christmas Story

“
Res Ipsa Loquitor
My grandmother noticed Louise the moment she walked in the door.

"What the hell is that?" she asked. My brother quickly explained, "It's a doll."
"Who would play with something like that?" Granny snapped. I had several
candidates in mind, but kept my mouth shut. "Where are her clothes?"

Granny continued. "Boy, that turkey sure smells nice, Gran," Jay said, trying to steer her into the dining room. But Granny was relentless. "Why doesn't she have any teeth?"

If you've never been in an X-rated store, don't go. You'll only confuse yourself. I was there an hour saying things like, "What does this do?" "You're kidding me!" " Who would buy that?"
Again, I could have answered, but why would I?   It was Christmas and no one wanted to ride in the back of the ambulance saying, "Hang on Granny, Hang on!"

My grandfather, a delightful old man with poor eyesight, sidled up to me and said," Hey, who's the naked gal by the fireplace?"   I told him she was Jay's friend. A few minutes later I noticed Grandpa by the mantel, talking to Louise.   Not just talking, but actually flirting.

COBY Who?

What I Saw

    Wooted
Me and MoSup Christmas gifted Mo-Sup with a   Famous Maker 46" 1080p 3D LED HDTV  for $405 Delivered! (Woot).  3-DShe had a lousy 32 inch SEKO that didn't get full HD, and had no recognized code for the Verizon remote.  When it was being unloaded from the truck yesterday, I looked—gasp.  HFS!  The "famous maker" is SONY!  But, when the guy put the box down in the hallway—see rollover.   It was a COBY!?!

My first thought was of Manhattan discount stores selling SOMY electronics and such.  Yikes. I Googled COBY and up popped ads from Best Buy, Wal-Mart, etc.; so I felt better.

Getting to the bottom line—HMFS! Out of the box this is the best picture I've ever seen, and I have a Sony 46" LCD in the den. LED rocks.  I can pick this thing up with one hand. My selling point to MoSup was that she can leave it running for a year with $2 of electricity.  I overstated, but not by a whole hell of a lot.   Coby claims a yearly cost of $21.  Plus, the picture is viewable from any angle.

After charging up the included 3-D glasses, I  found RIO on Verizon, and HFS!  It's freaking 3-D! It's wonderful—way way better than the only other 3-D movie I ever saw, House of Wax. And get this.  ESPN is going 3-D at year end!  HFS!!!

Anyway, I'm happy.  MoSup's flabbergasted.  The sumbitch might break in a year, but for now this is one sweet deal. I just noticed that the Woot promo does say "Coby 46" 1080p 3D LED HDTV, 3 HDMI." Now it does. I swear it didn't when I first tuned in.

Dog tags of the more than 58,000 service men and women who died in the Vietnam War hang from the ceiling of the National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum in Chicago on Veterans Day, November 11, 2010. The 10-by-40-foot sculpture, entitled Above & Beyond, was designed by Ned Broderick and Richard Steinbock. The tens of thousands of metal dog tags are suspended 24 feet in the air, 1 inch apart, from fine lines that allow them to move and chime with shifting air currents. Museum employees using a kiosk and laser pointer help visitors locate the exact dog tag with the imprinted name of their lost friend or relative. [More]

When Childhood Fears Come True
Peggy Noonan

“
Res Ipsa Loquitor

"What's so terrible for the little kids who hear about Newtown is that the 'dream' monster is now real," said a friend.

This from Peggy Noonan's interesting "When Childhood Fears Come True." (Behind a paywall, but I copied some of it)

I think what's happening here is not to much the "dream monster" being realized as actually being created.   I know that the "End of Earth" monster promulgated by too many "Yes, the earth will die in 5 billion years and here's why." science shows is in my grandson's head.  I mean to kids 5 billion and next year are pretty much the same. So monsters do not have to be real.

My childhood fear was that a windy night sounded like a tidal wave rushing to engulf our house.  More than once I got out of bed to look, because I heard waves lapping the house. I think because a tidal wave hit Montrose Beach (on Lake Michigan), near Chicago's Loop stuck in my head.  This happened mostly in December, as I look back, because the real fear was I'd die before Christmas presents.
Res Ipsa Loquitor
More on point, in 1955 3 boys my age were found strangled in the forest preserve very near to where we kids played and caught catfish.  I never ever forgot that, but not once did I go to bed worried that I was next.  We, none of my gang, ever stopped playing in the "woods" because of that incident.  By the by, I stumbled across "Death Closes the Case of Boys’ Murders," five years ago.

Here's another cut from Noonan's article that I like.
‘ Religion, said Mr. Kennedy, "isn't supposed to explain such things" as Newtown. "That's not the task of religion, never has been." Religion has to do with the central mystery of existence—"the tremendous and gripping mystery" of being alive. "Joseph Campbell once said people don't need an explanation of their lives as much as they need an experience of being alive."
’

Which is pretty much, "Life sometimes sucks, live with it kid."
