A Washington Post blog site joins the conga line of the busted. The reporter for the Washington Post’s blog, The Plum Line, is described by the news outlet thusly: “Greg Sargent writes The Plum Line blog, a reported opinion blog with a liberal slant – what you might call ‘opinionated reporting’ from the left. He joined the Post in early 2009, after stints at Talking Points Memo, New York Magazine and the New York Observer.” So, Sargent is identified as the go-to-guy that enables the DNC to “help control the narrative on the front end.” He delivers the mail for the Party. Wikileaks revealed, within the 74 emails where Sargent’s name in mentioned in Democratic National Committee (DNC) emails, that the substance of Sargent’s “opinionated” columns comes not from his keen analysis of political events, nor is it rooted solely in his liberal, political philosophy.  Instead, his particular slant leans heavily on DNC input where support for the Clinton candidacy is, and has been from the start of this election cycle, firmly established. In short, Sargent is a DNC-Clinton shill on the payroll of the Washington Post. Whether the leaks prove the election was fixed is one thing; that it is perceived that way is beyond doubt. Already Debbie Wasserman Schultz has resigned as DNC Chair. Not enough. Bernie supporters are furious, and are demanding he withdraw his endorsement of Hillary. That’s highly unlikely to happen, which will shut close a possible relief valve. The left wing of the left wing of the Democratic Party is ready to bust a gasket, and go full #NeverHillary and mean it. It will only take a few percent of Democrats to stay home or run to Green Party candidate Jill Stein for Hillary to be damaged in the general election. The media cannot let that happen. So expect several narratives to permeate the convention coverage. The first and easiest narrative of the DNC leak will be that Hillary had nothing to do with the anti-Bernie shenanigans, she didn’t know about it, and she can’t be blamed. But that will not be enough. So the media will have to portray Hillary as the real victim of the DNC leak, just like she’s the victim of her home server scandal and every other scandal that has tainted her career.  “Hillary as victim” is a time tested remedy which has worked so many times in the past. 5 minute butter

5 minute butter A few weeks ago I discussed "MAKE BUTTER; SAVE $."  Yesterday was time to restock.  I poured a quart of heavy cream into my Cuisinart and pressed go.  While the machine was whirring away me and Mosup watched the bird activity on our various feeders.  A glance at the machine 5 minutes later showed nothing was moving, so I stopped it and voila!  Done.  However, when I plopped it all into a bowl it hit me. Where's the butter milk?  I dipped a pinky into the cream—tasted like very sweet butter, so what the hell.  I filled two storage containers and put them in the Fridge.  But wait!  Why wasn't there any butter milk?  Horry Clap! Did I just make whip cream?  To test it, I made a grilled cheese sammich using the new butter on the rye bread.  Worked fine.  Still, I went back to my original post and this popped out: " .... and in about 18-20 minutes I had a big ball of butter. "  I was done in 5 minutes, so yes, I did make whipped cream (minus the sugar). This morning I buttered MoSup's bagel with it and she said it tasted properly delicious. I think the difference in this 5 minute butter is that it's unsuitable for baking; won't help in rising.  Don't care.  We'll use this butter for slather, and store bought for baking.  There is also the posibilty that this quick butter will just melt in a few days, and I'll have to try and salvage it with another go in the Cuisenart. But here's a disconcerting reality.  While there are just 51 calories in a TBS of heavy cream, there are prolly (if I made them) 4 TBS (+ sugar) heaped atop these cupcakes. And nobody would give it a mind. But what if I gave you this dessert with almost a half-stick of raw butter on top? Same thing. Would I think twice?  You bet. Being a food scientist has ups and downs; joys and disappointments.  Your welcome.

I further pledge that I will not seek to run as an independent or write-in candidate nor will I seek or accept the nomination for president of any other party. In March of this year, Cruz reaffirmed that pledge. "My answer is the same," Politico reported Cruz told reporters when asked if he would support Trump. "I committed at the outset, I will support the Republican nominee, whoever it is." Cruz is not along in violating the pledge. Joining the Texas Senator are former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, and Ohio Governor John Kasich. Ohio's Gov Kasich went on to trumphet: Trump probably can't win Ohio.  Jeb Bush said, with great venality, that  "Donald Trump has not demonstrated that temperament or strength of character. He has not displayed a respect for the Constitution. And, he is not a consistent conservative. These are all reasons why I cannot support his candidacy. Ravings of petulant losers.

Federal Courts Must Enforce Limits OnPresident's Appointment Powers “Judge Ellen Huvelle ruled in State National Bank of Big Springs v. Lew that Cordray, after finally receiving Senate confirmation, could simply wave a magic wand and retroactively approve all of his unauthorized acts. No one any longer contests that President Barack Obama acted in excess of his constitutional powers when, on January 4, 2012—a day on which the Senate was not in recess—he purported to grant a recess appointment to Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Yet, in a troubling decision issued last week, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia indicated that it was of no moment that for a period of 18 months Cordray, although no more than a private citizen, issued dozens of significant decisions in the name of CFPB. Judge Ellen Huvelle ruled in State National Bank of Big Springs v. Lew that Cordray, after finally receiving Senate confirmation, could simply wave a magic wand and retroactively approve all of his unauthorized acts. That decision eviscerates the Constitution’s explicit limitations on the President’s appointment powers and encourages future Presidents to disregard those limitations. The Appointments Clause Violation President Obama attempted to make several recess appointments on January 4, 2012, including Cordray’s as well as several appointments to fill vacant slots on the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). The Supreme Court disapproved President Obama’s efforts in NLRB v. Noel Canning, ruling unanimously that the recess appointments were unauthorized because the Senate remained in session on that date. So what to do about official actions taken by the improperly appointed officials? NLRB and CFPB adopted diametrically opposed approaches. NLRB carefully reconsidered each of its actions taken while the recess-appointed members were purporting to serve on its five-member board, and ultimately issued new decisions. "Let me just say that one of the greatest challenges of our times besides the fight against extremism is to deal with the enormous battle of climate change," Kerry said in Denmark, perhaps indicating that he is changing course from earlier pronouncements that climate change is the greater threat. "The threat of climate change is, without question, one of the defining if not the defining challenge — I'd probably give violent extremism — the defining threat of a generation, and it is a challenge that everybody has to approach with urgency," Kerry said while in Norway.
