Judge Crabb Stinks

Disrobe this woman!

Disbobe this judge

All I wanted to know was who appointed Judge Barbara B. Crabb to the federal court; Carter or Clinton?  (it was Carter).   By the by I wound up with a  Robing Room link, which site I've used for several years.  When I clicked  the link, up pops Google's "you can't go here because it's an attack site" message.  There seems to be no getting around it either.  Who the hell starts this process?     One of the Judges in the "bad" column?

Bottom 10 Judges
Calculated on a minimum of five ratings

The Robing Room gives attorneys an opportunity to fill in the equivalent of a "how was our service" rating slip after lawyering before a judge.  It's of interest to me only  for schadenfreudal reasons.  If a judge I want off the bench (like Crabb) happens to make the bad list, I'll use it to smear.  I think I've only used it once however.

Oh, right.  Why do I want  Barbara B. Crabb  removed from the bench?   Simple. She ruled that the  National Day of Prayer is unconstitutional after granting the plaintiff  "standing"  based oh "hurt feelings."  A first.  Hurt Feelings.  Egad.

This may be of interest to the regular people out there (who aren't  EE's),  I think there are some in the same boat as I.

Moving up to the next generation computer  presented me with a few problems to solve, chief of  which is importing video from the VCR, and video camera --  that only has RCA outputs?   There ain't no RCA inputs on this computer.

Alongside Woot, my favorite vendor is Monoprice.  They seem to sell everything by way of cables, connectors, converters, and adapters - at insanely inexpensive prices --  for very high quality merchandise!  Whew.

I ordered this Tuesday, it arrived today.  I installed it in 5 minutes; had it recording in 10.  So, if you're wondering how to get your old tapes (or even capture movies from the TV) onto your new computer, this'll work,   You're welcome.

Oh, the groinals and the glavins

"Anya was great in bed and she knew exactly what to do. She was awesome. For the first few months we met for sex about five days a week. We loved it.

"She also liked posing for pictures," he says, producing the evidence. "I took one of her topless first thing in the morning.

"I said to Anya 'go on get them out!' and I took the picture of her with only a bit of the duvet over her. She laughed about it.

"We were having so much fun. We also experimented with sex toys." Alex then produced a picture of Anna wielding a whip and another toy and wearing nipple clamps. "It was great fun although Anya was covering her face with a hat when I took the pictures!"

During the first few months of their whirlwind romance, smitten Alex saw Anna in both London and Moscow. Alex told how he joined the MILE HIGH CLUB with her during a BA flight back to Moscow in January 2002. He says: "When we were on the plane we came up with a plan to join the mile high club. I went to the toilet first and told her to follow later and knock.

"Anya was wearing a denim dress so I hitched it up and we just went for it. It was fantastic because of the thrill of doing it on a plane. We were in the toilet for about 15 minutes and then one of the cabin crew knocked on the door. I said Anya had been sick and I was helping her." [Full Monty]

I last quit smoking eleven years ago, and have yet to regress.  At 3 packs-day I spent a hell of a lot of time looking for matches, looking for cigarettes, going out to buy cigarettes, etc.  The hardest part for me,  then, was ending the ritual; finding things to do with my hands and the extra time.  So, even though I still occasionally yearn for a smoke, this would prolly lead me back to the real thing.  No thanks.  However, the thought of provoking asshat anti-smoker Nazis with this deal is compelling.  If I wanted to provoke. I don't.  But, if I did.

WASHINGTON — Too many Republican leaders are acquiescing to a poisonous "demagoguery" that threatens the party's long-term credibility, says a veteran GOP House member who was defeated in South Carolina's primary last month.

While not naming names, 12-year incumbent Rep. Bob Inglis suggested in interviews with The Associated Press that tea party favorites such as former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and right-wing talk show hosts like Glenn Beck are the culprits.-  Blah-Blah-Whine

Bad Judges

The Cultures Wars ..

JMcD sent me this article titled Woman’s land will go to Akron mission.

Boned Jello
A preacher’s wife who died last year at age 95, Petry gifted her house and 21 acres of prime real estate to Haven of Rest, a rescue mission for the homeless in Akron.

Not only did she want Haven of Rest to get it, she added a few stipulations to the gift in her will: Family friend Jim Kirby could live in the house, if he chose, until he died, and the mission could only sell the property to someone who would use it for a religious purpose.

The clauses created a dilemma for those trying to administer her nearly $1 million estate, and for many organizations named as benefactors, who also stood to inherit some money.

So earlier this year, Valentine, the executrix of the estate, filed a complaint in court. In doing so, she basically asked Stark County Probate Judge Dixie Park for direction.

I'm reading this, wondering if there was a point to this story?  Yup.  There was.

According to court filings, retired Judge Dennis R. Clunk mediated this settlement: Haven of Rest will pay Kirby $30,000 to give up claim to the house; Haven of Rest will take possession of the house and property — and Petry’s caveat that the land be used for a religious purpose will be void.

Park said the religious purpose clause contained in the will didn’t have legal teeth. She said courts have consistently found such hand-tying language on future use to be discriminatory.

Let's say that Mrs. Petry had instead directed that the property could only be resold to the Communist Party, or Obama reelection campaign, or Muslims?  Is there one chance in a thousand that Judge Dixie Park would have voided it?  I think not, but that's beside the point.  Judge Park had no right to dissolve Mrs. Petry's covenant.  Period.

Meet Eric Holder's friend

A close friend, then an Atlanta cop, and his partner responded to a reported burglary.  It was a high profile call because the victim was the girlfriend of new Atlanta mayor, Maynard Jackson.  One of the items stolen was a tape recorder (back when they cost real money).  She had no serial number, so they asked mayhaps she had a tape made on the machine, in the off chance it  contained some electronic signature in the event they found the perp.  She dutifully produced one from a dresser, on top of which was a large bag of dope, and paraphnailia.   They read her rights and  arrested her.

All hell broke loose!   The charges were eventually dropped after the evidence, somehow, went missing from the property room just before her trial. Here's the good part, however.

The tape she gave them was made at a soiree attended by Mayor Jackson and his friend, and later mayor himself,  Andrew Young.  Both were high on the "great dope," and joking about how sweet it was that " the crackers" would now be dancing to tunes played by the Black man.  All very racist stuff.  My friend's partner was so incensed over the obvious manipulation of the dope case,  that he made copies of the tape which, somehow, began showing up for sale in convenience stores across South Georgia.

Democrats Squelched

Too,too yummy

Boned Jello
EAT ME!
I ran across this story (via Free Republic) that is decadently delicious.  I seems that after Sarah Palin accepted the VP slot on the McCain ticket, the campaign, knowing how democrats operate, established a completely transparent legal defense fund to pay legal fees resulting from anticipated allegations related to her service as governor.

On cue, within minutes of the announcement of Governor Patin's trust, a complaint was filed. And, the first "independent counsel" selected to investigate the trust was the Alaska office of Perkins Coie (President Barack Obama's law firm). .

Boned Jello
Here's the fun part.  Since everybody knows how Democrats operate,  --->
"the language of the proposed trust fund was drafted to directly mirror the language and provisions used by the John Kerry Trust fund." .

Indeed, former Democratic Presidential nominee Senator Kerry's trust was drafted by the same Perkins Coie, President Barack Obama's law firm.

Apparently before realizing that Governor Palin's trust was nearly identical to the trust Perkins Coie prepared for John Kerry, the Perkins Coie "independent counsel" found in a detailed nine page “CONFIDENTIAL” letter -- that was promptly leaked to the media — that Gov. Palin's trust was illegal.

Ridicule ensued. In addition, once the conflict of interest between representing President Obama and investigating Gov. Sarah Palin became public, the Perkins Coie "independent counsel" resigned. And so, a new second "independent counsel" (with no background or expertise in the area of legal expense funds) began the investigation anew.

Read the outcome here. Had you heard this before?  Not me.

Boned Jello
Not even officers from Israeli security service Shin Bet can escape the scourge of lost [and stolen] luggage it seems.

A bag belonging to agents travelling with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was mistakenly put on a flight from New York to Los Angeles, not to Washington. Alarmingly the bag contained four 9mm Glock handguns, which are now missing…

The Israeli officers were accompanying Mr Netanyahu to Washington for White House talks with President Barack Obama.

NBC News reported that the handguns had, in accordance with security procedures at New York’s John F Kennedy airport, been placed inside checked luggage. The luggage was then supposed to be put on a connecting flight to Washington however, American Airlines workers at the airport instead sent it right across the country to LAX in Los Angeles.

By the time the luggage was located and recovered, the guns had disappeared, and are presumed to have been stolen. [Dvorak]

  1. interesting premise;

  3. circular password idiocy.

YOU GET IT ALL!
I read John Podhoretz's  Patriotic opposition Loving a nation that elected O  last week.

How are those of us who stand in opposition to the domestic agenda and foreign-policy views of President Obama and his administration to think about this country in 2010 as we approach the nation's birthday on Sunday?

Or, to put it another way: How should a self-described patriot think, act and talk about the United States if that self-described patriot believes the elected leadership of the United States has led the country into a ditch that threatens to expand into a bottomless chasm?

Does the fault lie with the president and his party, or does it reside in the electorate that installed them? If it resides in the electorate, what does that say about the condition of the United States?

In the case of Barack Obama, the root questions are: Who is he and why is he doing this?

Here's where I got sidetracked.

Opponents answer the question in many ways, from the clear-cut (he's a Chicago Democrat) to the more suggestive (he's a 1970s-era campus leftist) to the silly (he wasn't born in America) to the sinister (he's a secret Muslim or Communist).

In the comments, I wanted to ask Mr.  Podhoretz (whom I hold in high regard);  "John, which documents proffered  by Obama did you find most convincing inre his Hawaiian birth?"

Of course I had to sign in, which I did using my New York Post password - that did not work.
Okay, lets try "I forgot my password."
Nope.  "We have no record of anyone using that e-mail address."
Okay, I'll  register for a new password.
"That e-mail address is already in use."

Sigh.  Maybe Podhoretz reads this blog and will answer?

Knots to You
Lost knowledge: ropes and knots

I took a piece of plywood and painted it black. Then, using my Boy Scout handbook as a guide, tied clothesline (remember that?) into several examples, which were then nailed to the board.  My mom said it was just wonderful.  Alas, that Boy Scout project didn't win squat in the contest; so much for stupid knots.

It wasn't until I took up sailing in the '80's that actually knowing how to tie knots, and quickly, became a necessary art form; I become a practitioner, and then expert knotster.  There is something deeply satisfying in knowing how to tie the right knot, at the right time.  It also seems to summon forth from women some ancient  racial memory of being in in the company of a manly man.  Makes them shudder amidships.

Here's everything you'll ever need to know about knots. I have no more use for them.  Sigh.
Well, maybe  this one .

2012 and the GOP's Palin trap

eye on the prize
Reagan-Obama, same thing?

Thank goodness for Lib rags like Salon, which have been advising the GOP about who not to run since, what? 1980?  News editor Steve Kornack here warns about  2012 and the GOP's Palin trap, just in case foolish Republican primary voters are feeling suicidal.

[A] ticket headed by Palin would be hard-pressed to break 40%. Palin as the nominee would probably make 2012 the most lopsided election victory for the incumbent President since 1984.

That would be Mondale v. Reagan.

The relevance to Palin is obvious: Like Mondale in '84, she would represent to the general election audience of 2012 just about everything they'd rejected in 2008 (and 2006). In nominating her, Republicans would be saying to the country, "We have learned nothing these last four years. We have changed nothing."

* Smacks head* Oh, that relevance!

1984  Having endured four years of Carter malaise,  the nation is filled with new vigor and renewed national pride after Ronald Reagan's first term.  Nobody is sorry they voted for him, and are certainly not about to bring in a Carter-clone replacement (which is why Mondale is thrown to the dogs by the DNC to begin with) .

2012  The parallels are -- huh?   It would be a fatal mistake? ...  to remind voters -- of the bullet they dodged by  rejecting Palin-McCain for this heaping pile of Obama stink?  Nice try Steve.

We have a great opportunity to take the House and Senate, but now with this kind of financial kick in the pants we may not have the resources to pull it off," a senior member of the Republican Party's national governing body told The Times, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

Boned Jello

The solution to this long-standing problem of GOP incompetence is easy.  My preference would be to turn the party over to Sarah Palin to remake entirely, with fresh people with fresh (read "tea party") ideas.  Absent that, and likely more palatable to weak sisters, is to turn the party over to Karl Rove, with the caveat that nobody who served in the Bush Administration (either one), or was a Speaker of the House, is allowed in the building. Victory follows.

Sharron Angle Campaign
Gets a Warning
What follows is a non-verbatim account of an interview with Mr. X. His exact language is in quotes. Mr. X was deeply involved in Chicago Machine politics for many years. He has intimate knowledge of those responsible for manipulating the Cook County electoral process toward the outcome intended by the Machine. He eventually went undercover for the FBI and testified in trials that resulted in multiple convictions. He now lives outside Illinois. Mr. X has reason to believe that Nevada GOP Senatorial Candidate Sharron Angle, who is running against Sen. Harry Reid, will face a level of corrupt electioneering practices equal to what he witnessed for many years in Chicago. This is his warning to the Angle Campaign. -

Boned Jello

I posted this Bartle Bull video in the midst of our Fourth of July reverie, so I fear it didn't reach a wide audience. It's part Amy Proctor's comprehensive look at voter fraud and intimidation.  I'm embedding it again because it is so apropos to the Big Story.  Below, some snippets from the American Prospect story.

The first thing the Angle Campaign has to do is scrub the voter registration list and get the dead people, the people who have moved away from Nevada, and the other fictitious voters off the list.

"There are thousands of them there."

In the 2008 election, ACORN's Las Vegas office got raided by the police in early October.  Its people were charged with 26 counts of voter fraud and 13 counts for compensating those who were registering voters; they're felony charges.  In August 2009, a Nevada director for ACORN pled guilty to conspiracy to compensate workers for registering of voters.

Just because ACORN was busted in Las Vegas doesn't mean that voter fraud is over there.  In fact it's the opposite. To think otherwise is "crazy."

"And I'm sure there are plenty of groups out there who will take money to register phony voters."

Angle's supporters have to find the phony names on the voter registration list. There'll be thousands of them, many of whom will be voting by absentee ballot.

"In Chicago in every election there are many absentee ballots and a lot of them are sent in by Precinct Captains, or by someone associated with the campaign." (continued)
