Hitler Was A Union Buster

HITLER WAS A UNION BUSTER
Wisconsin Unions

Steven Hayward managed to slip away from business long enough to visit the  capitol in the daylight, and capture the scene inside at the moment Governor Walker signed the bill eliminating collective bargaining for some classes of Wisconsin public employees. Above is another quickly-edited, four-minute highlight reel.

"The scene is really rather feeble, as you will see, but nonetheless conveys the infantilism of the modern left. This time I offer some voice-over commentary of my own, but couldn't resist calling in reinforcements from Monty Python on a couple of points. The old saying "It's all over but the shouting" almost doesn't apply, since the shouting going on is so lame. "

Comrade factory workers on strike

Re: infantilism of the modern left: The part I obviously liked was the "Hitler Was a Union Buster" sign.  As opposed to ...?  All the other totalitarian regimes -- that encourage the PFW (People's Factory Workers) to strike for better wages?   Regimes, btw, that many of these organize protesters represent.

Take someone who prolly has some good things to impart, but due to a lack of professionalism, or plain carelessness, often crosses that line of what's tasteful, and lands his class in tawdry-town.  No, not me. Well, okay me; but now I'm telling you about this guy, Frank Rozanski

I know what you're saying, "But Rodge, considering that these same kids are prolly taught that climate change is caused by people, or that Al Gore won the 2000 election, is this really so bad?  And the answer to that, no, by comparison.  But it's still unacceptable. I have obtained the actual quiz, with roll-over answers.  You have 5 minutes.
This is the "Sexual Tension Quiz" given to psychology students at William T. Dwyer High School, copied from a quiz widely distributed on the internet. The teacher who distributed the "quiz" has been disciplined.

Bart's Room

Bart Got A Room

I love coming of age movies because I hope to myself one day.  Srsly, COA films are usually a safe bet to entertain without any serious unpleasantness.  Bart Got A Room is really a very good movie for something I never heard of, but then I don't follow them.   William H. Macy is seldom (ever?)  in a bad movie, and he is definitely the star of this one.  He plays the divorced (from Cheryl Hines) father who wants to be his son's (Steve Kaplan) age, and treats him like a younger brother.  Bart refers to a friend of the son who is such a loser, that by telling his parents "Even Bart Has _____" gets mom and dad on his team.  What Bart got in this movie is a date to the prom, and a room in the hotel for afterwards.  Juice, you will like this. Oh, it's available on NetFlix instant.

Japanese Nuke Explosion II

Huge blast at Japan nuclear power plant

Derailed Train Post Quake

WWII is over .  I have great respect for the Japanese ability to make consumer products I must have, and for making me ROR at their cultural idiosyncrasies.   The good news about this blast is, according to the text,  the metal reactor container inside was not damaged, and radiation levels around the plant had fallen after the explosion.

From a selfish pov, however, this will pretty much stop any attempt on our part to overcome the Three Mile Island cultural hysteria, and start building nuclear power plants in the USofA.  The antis will be frothing at the mouth.  So, no oil production+no nuke power = third world nation.

Aside: I renew my request that congress make clear that if San Francisco falls into the ocean, congressmen whose congressional districts no longer exist will be immediately removed.

Stuff That Works
Boned JelloBoned Jello
Of all the Woot stuff I've bought, some of it I use.  One that I'm delighted with is the Cuisinart Bread Maker.  It's the only bread maker I've owned, so all of them may be as good or better, but there you have it.   One of the things that happened however, was that the vibration from the kneading action caused the machine to walk off the counter-  Ka-Smash.  I feared the worse, but no.  It started right up again, although the control module (upper right in picture) was hanging by wires, and the cover was half-way across the kitchen floor.  I popped the control box back in, and used heat resistant duct tape to hold the lid pieces together.  That was 4-5  months ago, and it's working fine.  But that's not what I wanted to tell you.

Boned Jello
I made a special recipe MoSup found, but instead of using store bought vermicelli, I decided to make my own.  I used to have a pasta roller that had a cutter attachment, but my daughter wanted it so I gave it to her.  Now, I would never have tried this before, but I discovered that the Cuisinart's Basic Pasta Recipe makes such pliable, easy to work with dough, that I don't even need any flour when rolling it out.  I rolled some out on the counter and then cut strips with a kitchen knife. The strips were irregular as all hell, but that became part of the charm.  I forgot how good fresh pasta tastes, not to mention the fast cooking time.  Time from thought to noodles- about 30 minutes.

While I'm at it, my most used recipe is the cranberry pumpkin walnut bread; I made a dozen just for Christmas presents.  Takes about 90 minutes from beginning to end .  (The entire recipe book here)

Grey Lady Giving Succor

On Cue:  Grey Lady Does Her Thing

“
As public sector employees in Wisconsin begin to "shoulder more of the burden" for their pensions and health care they "will provide immediate relief for struggling towns, school districts and state agencies, and help them balance their budgets," reports the New York Times.

"But new pension cost estimates, ordered before Governor Walker was elected...are expected to show that the current contribution levels to the state pension system are too meager. More money, from employers and employees in some combination, will be needed, and perhaps much more in coming years."
Grey Lady Giving Succor
According to economists, the problem won't be unique to Wisconsin, and doing away with collective bargaining won't fix it. According to labor officials, economics are evil and anyone who says that public pensions are in trouble is the Antichrist.

Driving on the right side may be left

Why Some Countries Drive on the Right; others Left

Sarah Waves Hello to Kathy Griffin

Among  the many possibilities given at What I Learned Today, I'm going with the driving on the left as being the the most practical.  The across the chest move is so awkward, not to mention dangerous.

“ ... if you were right handed and you met some unsavory company on the road, you could draw your weapon, typically attached to your left side, with your right hand and bring it to bear quickly against the person who is going the opposite way of you on your right; all the while, controlling the reigns with your left hand. ”

Barry: What can I say?

What can I say?

I was born in Hawaii

How about saying,

"Look, I was always under the impression that I was born in Hawaii.  I guess my grandparents knew I wasn't, and tried to make up for it by getting a certification of live birth.  I found it, and naturally thought it was like a real birth certificate.

I knew nothing about this until Bill Ayers, who was writing my autobiography said, Barry, we have sort of a problem.  All your relatives say you were born in Kenya.  I checked, and you have no record of being born here.

I said, so what, my mother was a citizen?

He said, nuh-uh.  She was under-age and could not transfer US citizenship to you.  You have dual British and Indonesian citizenship, as near as I can tell.

By that time I had already decided to be president, and there was no turning back; and it's a stupid law anyway, aimed at keeping the black immigrant down.

You could say that Barry.  It's a start.

Cameras? I have believed for some time now that this ilk really do believe the stuff they regurgitate (there is no critical thought involved).  I'm not saying you can't find any, but off-hand, how many stories in the past 3-4 years contained verified accounts of conservatives attacking anyone?   How about progressives, union thugs, and pinksters?

I account for this seeming conundrum - they read and listen, but remain uninformed -  by blaming it on the left's refusal to hear or read, let alone believe, any news account that does not emanate from Moonbattery Central. Do you know how many of them have ever watched FOX News straight-away?  Zero.  There is not a Moonbat alive who has ever read, or listened to a non sanctioned (leftist) media account, unless it was in response to some specific link from another outraged  bat.  Not one.  Which would leave anyone ignorant, let alone plumb stupid.  Michael Moore is an exception.  He's a hard core Marxist trying to foment communist revolution.

Ann Discusses Wisconsin Unions

Addendum
(to UNIONS LOSE IN WI)
“ Fine, we understand that Wisconsin public sector employees like the system that pays them an average of $76,500 per year, with splendiferous benefits, and are fighting like wildcats against any proposed reforms to that system. This isn't how we usually view people fighting for their own economic interests.

Rodge - I caught Dick Morris talking about NPR on Hannity last night. He mentioned the big picture which is the real game plan, with or without public funding.

http://www.dickmorris.com/blog/preserve-talk-radio-from-fcc-assault/

Their offensive takes three forms:

a) Shortening the licensing period for radio stations from the current eight years to four. This change gives the FCC power of life and death over stations while Obama’s appointees are still there.

b) Requiring 25% of talk stations’ programming to be locally produced. Since it costs vastly more to hire a talk show host than to subscribe to a national show, many stations can’t afford it. The result will be forcing many stations to give up talk radio entirely.

c) Requiring stations to establish community advisory boards.

It's Time
These boards, composed of “community representatives” will report to the FCC on whether the station is satisfying the needs of the community. Ratings won’t matter, the opinion of these activists will. With their predictable liberal bias, their reports will provide the basis for an FCC denial of licenses to conservative stations.

The FCC also wants to be able to fine stations for failing to comply with the community board advice, a lesser punishment, with the fines going to NPR!

blackhole theory v2.14a

I'm an inveterate cosmologist who, except for an unfortunate slip on a job application, would today have my own Universe show on a Hitler channel.  Anyway, I watched something the other night - I forget which show it was - that introduced me to a whole now possibility for black holes. The supposition advanced was  "what if we fell into a black hole, and instead of being torn apart, we exited into an entirely new universe?"  Which could qualify as that new universe's "Big Bang" moment.   Wow.

Of course I'm really not on a level with Stephen Hawking (who evidently knew at some point what to do with a cosine), but I've come to appreciate the possibility that no astro-expert really knows what the hell is going on out there, or why.  I think God's fucking with them.

The NPR TAPES

“

So it's more complicated than saying, 'Where was Obama born?' In Hawaii or not? Is he an American citizen or not?" she asks. Ms. Liley then describes the birthers as conservatives.  [WaTimes]

”
NPR Splooge
If we can treat NPR as a microcosm of the Democrat Media Complex, and we can, then this is what you call the smoking cigar secreted in Monica's vajayjay.

“   Senior Vice President of NPR Ron Schiller met with individuals he believed to be potential donors. However, undercover video was running during this meeting. In the following clip, Mr. Schiller and his co-worker Betsy Liley describe how NPR covers those who deny climate change is happening. ”

Ms. Liley talks about a donor who would only give to NPR if the outlet did not talk to those who believe climate change is not happening: Liley tells Schiller  "It is a complicated thing ... "   How so?  Well  form the science perspective we treat it as settled science, so no problemo ...

“ But in politics, our Washington desk, might actually cover it should it resurface as a political issue...this debate."

[...]

Mr. Schiller chimes in later saying, "The main point here is that it is not our responsibility to present the opinion of a non-scientist through our science desk. All educated scientists accept that climate change as fact.

”

Liley continues:

“

So it's more complicated than saying, 'Where was Obama born?' In Hawaii or not? Is he an American citizen or not?" she asks. Ms. Liley then describes the birthers as conservatives.

"We're not covering the birthers. We are not covering them. There's a whole movement within the conservative group about questioning something that Obama has said as fact, 'I was born in Hawaii, when it was the United States.' The group that questions this, some of whom are commentators...I don't know any who are Democrats, but they are primarily conservative commentators and people who follow them question if Obama is [a citizen]," she further explains.

"I think the challenge in our society now is that we are questioning facts. It's not opinions we are debating. I mean, what are the facts? Is the world flat? Is that the next question we're going to debate?" Ms. Liley wonders. [Full]

”

In yesterdays installment, Slate's David Weigel answered his own question "How much damage will this do to NPR" with "Unfortunately for the stingers, Schiller just left NPR for the Aspen Institute."  Did he take Betsy Liley with him?  Did he take NPR's Liberal culture with him?  I see some irony in all this.  Liley and Schiller, albeit unwittingly, have just done for NPR, and by extension the DMC, what Joseph Valachi did for the Mafia.
