Last Week Maj. Gen. Michael Carey was
personally removed by Obama “due to a loss of trust and confidence in his leadership and judgment.” Gen. Carey is by my count the 6th Flag Officer removed by Obama in the past few years; three of them had personal knowledge of the Benghazi affair.   Carey was in charge of the units responsible for its 450 nuclear missiles.  What's going on?  And don't say nothing.

Is there a real life Seven Days in May scenario brewing?  It sure as hell wouldn't surprise  me.  Here are some comments that resonated with me. Note that all of them cited are from the Brit press.

Today

ANN ARBOR, MI – U.S. Army Lieutenant General (Ret.) William "Jerry" Boykin, in a recent World Net Daily radio interview, confirmed that people with high security clearances connected to the Muslim Brotherhood hold important positions in every major federal agency including the Pentagon and the Department of Defense.

The Muslim Brotherhood is a radical Islamist organization that has vowed the destruction of America from within.

Click here to hear radio clip.

General Boykin has the credentials to back up his conclusions.  He was one of the original members of the U.S. Army's Delta Force which he ultimately led in combat operations.  He also served a tour in the CIA during which time he participated in clandestine operations throughout the world.   He served his last four years in the Army as Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence.

Blowing Up the Constitution?

“ Ho Hum. Once again, through sheer ineptitude or by grand design, Liberals have introduced plague, and now prescribe a cure.

I started reading "A How-To Guide ..." and quickly grew a chip on my shoulder because— 1) the title itself; and 2) stuff like this.

"Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was pilloried when she told Egyptian revolutionaries last year that she "would not look to the U.S. Constitution, if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012." But her sentiment is taken for granted by anyone who has actually tried to write a constitution since politicians stopped wearing powdered wigs.

I don't like RBG. She is a Justice only because her husband lobbied Clinton more strenuously than did others under consideration.  "Lobbying Clinton"  is accepted code for cash money gifts; seven-figures was rumored at the time.  She's ex-ACLU, and acts like it.  The only modicum of respect she gets from me, besides her office,  is because Justice Scalia likes her.  Okay.  I'm wired. Wrote my headline, and began picking through Alex Seitz-Wald's piece for more incendiary statements.  Like these quotes from the Thomas Jefferson to James Madison correspondence.

"  But with respect to future debts, would it not be wise and just for that nation to declare, in the constitution they are forming, that neither the legislature, nor the nation itself, can validly contract more debt than they may pay within their own age, or within the term of 19. years? And that all future contracts will be deemed void as to what shall remain unpaid at the end of 19. years from their date? This would put the lenders, and the borrowers also, on their guard."

And THIS!

"  On similar ground it may be proved that no society can make a perpetual constitution, or even a perpetual law. The earth belongs always to the living generation.[...] Every constitution then, and every law, naturally expires at the end of 19 years. If it be enforced longer, it is an act of force, and not of right.--It may be said that the succeeding generation exercising in fact the power of repeal, this leaves them as free as if the constitution or law has been expressly limited to 19 years only."

Oh, now they like Jefferson.  How nice.

Wait.  WTF am I doing? Arguing against the idea of hard-wired fiscal policies?  Arguing against sunset laws—on every piece of legislation?  Am I nuts?  No.  I was acting like a knee-jerk Democrat— who sees a  Rush Limbaugh, or  a Fox News attribution,  and swings into full chimp mode.  I saw  "Blow up the Constitution and— MFCS!

You may disagree, but I think Alex Seitz-Wald is on the right track  Towards the end, inevitably,  rewriting the Constitution is addressed.  I am here filled with he same dread as you.  In a country so politically corrupt
—where Democrats achieved super majorities in both Houses through election fraud, who can you trust?

" When the original constitutional convention convened in May 1787, members were tasked, simply, with proposing amendments to the Articles of Confederation. But once they got going, they realized that the Articles were so flawed and they wanted to change so much that they would need to start from scratch.

What a convention might look like is for the public to decide. It might, as Levinson proposes, be populated by citizens selected by lottery and given two years and plenty of staff and resources to come up with something."

I cannot buy into it.  If I feel that the United States can never again win any war if post-Nixon Democrats have any meaningful voice in its conduct, and I most assuredly do, then no way I want them rewriting the constitution.  But Wait!  Here again, it is Thomas Jefferson who solves the problem—in his 1787 letter to William Smith.  .

" God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty.
We have had 13. states independent 11. years. There has been one rebellion. That comes to one rebellion in a century & a half for each state. What country before ever existed a century & a half without a rebellion? & what country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms."

I have suggested that it was time for both sides to meet in the desert.  No quarter given.  Brilliant.  The losers won't be around to suffer the horrors of balanced budgets, honest elections, secure borders and subdued Judiciary branch. Peace in our Time! Click-click.

Harvard Beats Yale

   At The Cinema

“ "Harvard Beats Yale" is both an irresistible human story and as fine a documentary on football as "Hoop Dreams" was on basketball"

"the most famous football game in Ivy Leaguehistory"

The documentary includes game footage with contemporary interviews with the men who played that day, as well as contextual commentary about the Vietnam War, the sexual revolution, Garry Trudeau's Yale cartoons, and various players' relationships with George W. Bush (Yale), Al Gore (Harvard), and Meryl Streep (Vassar).

That comment to my post about crappy comic strips reminded me of  "Harvard Beats Yale 29-29"  Brian Dowling, the  Yale quarterback, became  B.D. in Gary Trudeau's campus strip, later gone national as Doonesbury."  Tommy Lee Jones was a Harvard guard.  The commentary is as interesting as the game, as players remember the times.  It seems that in  1968 only half of the students at these two schools were what we call today "Liberal twats."  Vastly entertaining.  The Hulu version on-line has four commercials (not to bad).  I think you can rent it from Amazon for $1.95.

Christie-Romney Food Fight

“ A FINE FOOD FIGHT

Hoes in the OutfieldBy now, everyone knows that Mitt Romney’s inner circle was righteously peeved at New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for spending the final days of the 2012 presidential race arm-in-arm with President Obama as they toured the Jersey coastline after its thrashing by Hurricane Sandy. The buddy-buddy act boxed Romney out of national media coverage for days while lending the president some bipartisan street cred.

But it wasn’t just the storm. Christie had rankled Romney’s team throughout the campaign: He held back his endorsement as long as possible, flirted with big-shot GOP donors who begged him to jump into the race and used his prime-time address at the Republican National Convention to puff up his Garden State record — without mentioning Romney once.

“And it will hit Christie first. Halperin and Heilemann make abundant use of a vice-presidential vetting file dropped into their hands by someone in Romney’s orbit to illuminate secrets about the governor. Delivering the documents to the authors was a stunning breach of political decorum that can only be read as a giant middle finger at Christie and his aides.

According to the authors, Romney and his team were shaken by what they discovered about Christie during “Project Goldfish,” as the hush-hush veep search process was known. His “disturbing” research file is littered with “garish controversies,” the authors write: a Justice Department investigation into his free-spending ways as U.S. attorney, his habit of steering government contracts to friends and political allies, a defamation lawsuit that emerged during a 1994 run for local office, a politically problematic lobbying career that included work on behalf of a financial firm that employed Bernie Madoff. And that’s not to mention the Romney team’s anxiety about the governor’s girth.

For Christie, who is coasti to re
ngelection on Tuesday and already laying behind-the-scenes groundwork for a 2016 presidential bid, the book’s revelations are a Drudge-ready public relations nightmare that will send his advisers scrambling to explain awkward aspects of his record and his personal life just as he is stepping onto the national stage.”

It's a proper food fight, but now I know all I want to know.  No book buy for you.

The book’s loose argument is that both Obama and Romney placed their bets about the race early on and “doubled down” throughout the contest. It’s an apt take on Obama World. The “Obamans,” as the authors call them, set out to annihilate Romney almost two years before the election and executed their plan with brutal efficiency. There were hiccups along the way, specifically Obama’s dreary debate-prep sessions and his cringe-worthy performance in Denver, but his deputies in Chicago rarely deviated from their search-and-destroy mission. Romney’s campaign, though, with its bad habit of reacting to news cycles with snap decisions, always felt more ad hoc, with tactics trumping strategy.

George Orwell and MSNBC

Meet The MSNBC All-Stars

George Orwell had a complicated political make-up, which included a commitment to democratic socialism, and aversion to totalitarian government (but fought for the communists in the Spanish civil war).  He learned from the experience,  and developed a nonpareil  understanding of today's Democrats, as portrayed in his great novel— Animal Farm. This quote then, about journalism, accurately describes what's going on with today's media, and why Fox News is bitterly attacked by even Obama himself.  Conclusions are easy.  Add Orwell to the list of Thomas Jefferson, and other notables who Liberal democrats hate for their outspoken understanding of them.

Ann Coulter Agonistes

In written history, let the term linchpin,
that allowed Obama to bring
the United States
to it's knees, be on Al Franken's head.

"Al Franken's Senate seat is another one that should be on Republicans' radar. He stole the 2008 election in Minnesota, going from a thousand votes down the day after the election to 300 votes up a few months later, after vast numbers of Franken votes kept being discovered in heavily Democratic districts. As economist John Lott pointed out at the time, the magically appearing votes for Franken were a statistical impossibility.

Obamacare could not have passed without the Democrats' prodigious vote theft in Franken's 2008 election."-Ann Coulter

Ann continues that thought with this churlishness, however—

" But if the Republican candidate had won, some conservatives would now be trying to take out moderate Republican Norm Coleman for being a "RINO." The far-left Democrat won, so conservatives can't be bothered to find someone to beat him."

In fact, the point of her article is a condemnation of teaparty "purists."   Ann, it seems, has found room for accommodation in her own principles.  She wrote an entire book exposing the wrong done to the left's official bogyman, Sen. Joe McCarthy,  but then labeled, as "birthers," those of us who,  properly still,  demand to know why the President keeps issuing counterfeit birth certificates?  Would I be churlish to note that this change in Ann seems to have occurred simultaneous with  the emergence of Sarah Palin as spokesman for conservatives?   Sarah, who dissed the likes of Chris Christie, even as Ann was calling him her dream President?  As for me,  I still acknowledge Ann's ability for brilliant insight, and delicious rhetoric,  but I wonder if she still believes that there's no right way to do the  wrong thing?  She did, once.

RE: Obama executive orders government to prepare for impact of global warming!

Dear Senator,

I am not naive enough to think you care about  the president's dangerous  dependence on the executive order to accomplish what cannot pass legislative muster, but perhaps this will strike home.

I am surrounded by Liberal friends (this being Maryland), and they are, for the first time since Obama was imposed on us, very very angry.  Especially about Obamacare, and that anger is directed at the democrat party.  So, if plain old concern over our democracy doesn't move you, I'm hoping the prospect of the GOP winning a super majority will. Don't laugh.

That would please me to no end, btw, but it would be more important to see some democrats question the validity of what this president does, or who he is, for that matter.  I think you will agree that if Obama was a republican president, impeachment proceedings would probably have begun with "gunrunner," and certainly over Benghazi. He deserves impeachment.  We'll settle for congress curbing his dictator's  mindset.

Respectfully

Mr. & Mrs. Rodger Schultz

Horry Clap!  I certainly understand that Obama is the most divisive and hated president we've ever had, but sheesh.  These people are just asking for trouble.  I wonder if the Secret Servive got wind of this?  Was there a recent attempt that I'm not aware of?  Be smart people; we DO NOT want a bunch of airports and highways named after that sumbitch.  Just two more years.

A letter to Stu

                                                          Provoking Racial Unrest

Stu,

“Something has been bothering me lately.  As you know, conservatives consider Obama racially divisive.  Nothing new there.  On the other hand, conservatives, libertarians, and Tea Party folks are frequently depicted as racist by the left, though they are absolutely not.  In fact, there are black people in those conservative, libertarian, and Tea Party organizations.  Hell, I contributed to and voted for one in the last presidential election.

Which leads me to the point at which Obama has gone from annoying would be tyrant to hateful, actual tyrant, as we get into more of the impact of the Obamacare program.  Right now we are seeing real harm being done to people, many of whom are being denuded of first their existing health insurance programs, to be followed by their hard earned money, as they are forced into new insurance plans under Obamacare.  People will not be quiet as they are robbed by the government.  We may well be looking at serious repercussions before this is over.

Which brings me to my first point, Obama and racial divisiveness.  Obama has set up Americans for racial hatred we haven’t seen in this country in a hundred years.  How will white working people react to black people, 90% of whom voted to put Obama in office, and retain him there.  Without them, this tyrant could not occupy the White House.  Will white people, after suffering under Obamacare, still maintain a non racial view of other people, nine out of ten of whom voted for this monstrosity.  Of course black people will also lose their current policies, though I think a greater percentage will be eligible for subsidies.

My answer is that I don’t know.  But there is now a greater possibility, or likelihood, of racial hatred in this country than there has been in the past. Have you given this issue any thought? "

BOY'S LIFE

As seen

ROLLOVER

This Wayback archive of Boy's Life is a fun site if you were a Boy Scout, or just enjoy perusing old period magazines.  What struck me while looking through this 1955 edition (that I likely viewed in real time)  was, "Hey it's who I am today!"

The BSA didn't become successful by promulgating against prevailing culture.  God, patriotism, self reliance, and respect for others ooze throughout.  It was entirely consistent with the culture we lived in (and had since 1776), and what we heard at home, in school and in the movies we watched.  Need spending money boys?   Earn it.  The notion that anything found on these pages could be found controversial—well, it just never occurred.  So what changed?  And by whom?* There's no simple answer, but somewhere at the core you'll find a Walter Cronkite, the ACLU, Hollywood, and "Progressives."   I don't think the SEIU could persuade Norman Rockwell to do the cover of their rag.  Ever.

Here's the Wayback site, or look at some of the selections I clipped,
* My  just posted "And it came to pass ..." goes a long way toward the answer.
