Where Elizabeth Warren is Electable

Coffin Medicine?

Res Ipsa Loquitor

Raja,

We got a good introduction to the Benghazi scandal last week.  Looks like next week will be even more explosive.  Joseph Curl (in the Washington Times) estimated that by close of business Friday, Obama will have his ass in a sling (and I believe Attila the Hen will, as well).  And if it is true that Obama let loose the IRS scandal in the hope of diverting attention from Benghazi, his hope will be shattered.  In fact, there will be TWO major bonfires burning on Capitol Hill next week.  Figure on several sacrificial virgins being thrown into the pyres, with little effect.

Res Ipsa LoquitorI will be listening to Rush Limbaugh for his expert political analysis, and Mark Levin for his legal view.  I was listening Friday when Mark got into the IRS scandal, and that’s when I found out it was he and his Landmark Legal Foundation that got the ball rolling on that one.  I felt practically like a witness to history.

Will Obama be impeached?  That’s problematic, as the Senate, where the trial would be held, is in Democrat control.  However, that might not be true after the 2014 elections, so timing may play a role.  Especially with these two scandals, plus further impact from the economic impact of Obamacare, and Democrat casualties of the gun control wars.  I particularly recall the 1994 situation, in which the Democrats were shellacked for the same reason.

And what of Attila the Hen?  What looked a few weeks ago like a shoe-in nomination and election campaign, now looks like a whole new ball game.  How can she appear anywhere questions may be asked?  Attila the Hen may simply be taken care of in the manner of Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Skoonj

That all makes sense—in the logical politics of yore. But consider where we're at.  To cite just one example, in the past election , when polled on the Elizabeth Warren (D) race against the incumbent Scott Brown (R who won Ted Kennedy's senate seat!) this:

Res Ipsa LoquitorBrown’s hurdle is that even as voters from both parties say they like him personally, regard   him as bipartisan, and give him high marks on his job performance, many also say they plan to stick with their political party. And in a presidential year, with high turnout expected, that bodes especially well for Democrats on the ballot in Massachusetts .  (here)

There you have it.  Rather than jeopardize Dem control of the Senate, MA voters elected the vajayjay version of Ward Churchill— a phony American Indian who additionally was found to be practicing law without a license, and appears to have just half the brains of the staggeringly  stupid  Barbara Boxer.  Politics are no longer about what's best for the country, but Duke against Maryland; Florida v Florida State, or  Michigan v Ohio State.  Blood sport. .

Missouri Stands Tall!

Missouri Legislature Nullifies All Federal Gun Control

“
Res Ipsa Loquitor

All federal acts, laws, orders, rules, and regulations, whether past, present, or future, which infringe on the people’s right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and Article I, Section 23 of the Missouri Constitution shall be invalid in this state, shall not be recognized by this state, shall be specifically rejected by this state, and shall be considered null and void and of no effect in this state.

And what’s even better is that the measure is backed by a veto-proof majority. This means that as long as those representatives that supported it initially are willing to support it again (in the case of a veto from the Governor), it will become law on July 1, regardless of what the Governor does or doesn’t do.

Kansas was brave enough to take the lead in the fight against federal gun control. And now the Kansas Governor and Secretary of State are duking it out with Eric the “Fast and Furious.”

But Missouri’s bill is even better (in part):

Pope Francis' First Crisis?
Defiant Archbishop Refuses to Quit
“
Res Ipsa Loquitor

ABC News, which for example, ignored the Pennsylvania trial  of Dr. Kermit Gosnel— the abortion doctor accused of performing late-term abortions on already delivered babies, killing one woman, but decides this is imprtant?  It's a mere piffle. What I take umbrage with is ABC's lede.

“ The new pope's first crisis is not related to the Church's controversial position on contraceptives or proposals for female clergy. Rather, Pope Francis' first major quandary is getting rid of a Puerto Rican archbishop who, despite the Vatican's numerous requests, has repeatedly refused to step down. ”

How are tenets of the Catholic church, unchanged for a millennium, controversial?  And to whom?

Seein' the Pope

Trippin' Out

“
Res Ipsa Loquitor

This is truly a milestone week for me. I've been using all my spare time, which is to say all my time, getting MoSup ready for her visit to see the new Pope.  Since telephone rates from Europe are exorbitant, and since—as she pointed out to her sister—we have never gone a single day in our 82 years of marriage without talking to each other, I needed a plan..  I got the bright idea to polish up my 7 year-old Acer Aspire notebook, and harness its powerful Intel Atom CPU NC70 @1.608Hz and 93.38 GB of available memory—and  10" display— to power Skype.  I ain't never used Skype before, but all my kids use it (on their fancy Apples) to interface with each other.  I down loaded and installed it, and now what?  Shit.  I'll deal with that later.

Next thing I had to set up her e-mail, because JFC, can;t be missing those gardening tips and sewing machine projects.  Iit's been years since I set up her Verizon e-mail, and none of the passwords or account names are working.   I'll have to call Verizon and find out WTF her e-mail particulars are.. Shit.I'll deal with that later.

Of course the first thing I  had to do is sanitize the thing.  It's been so long since I used it on road trips that, you know, some stuff might have gotten on there.  What happens if Pope Francis admires her notebook, and asks to see it?  And he pushes some wrong keys and up pops Paris Hilton in sporting mode?  Or  her plane is hijacked,  And the Islamos something like  this?

I did a full scrub, a full defrag and a full everything., then dabbed some holy water on it.  It's still slow as shit, so I'll be interested to see how it handles Skype.

This is where the milestone comes in.  My grandaughter (4ys) got for Christmans what I thought was a toy I-Pad.  Oh no.  The sumbittch has Skype on it. She and the princess are coming tomorrow to show me --SHOW US! how to use it.   I may look like I'm only 75, but I damn sure feel like 76 (after a certain point, nothing more changes.  What's gonna shrink has done shrunk, and what gonna ache, does, always.

But Hey!  Soon as she leaves, it's PAR-TAY TIME. sigh

Best Series Ever (Confirmed)

Salesmen will understand.  When I find something that excites me, I am compelled to tell people about it.  I'm also  naturally prone to over-hyperbole stuff, even afterjust  a short test drive. This sometime comes  back to bite me in the ass, like when I waxed all flowery about LILLIE:

"This BBC series is magnificent on several levels, not the least of which is it's intimate look at Victorian Age London ..."

Problem was, I had only watched  a few episodes when I wrote that. When the action  moved from London to America, the whole thing fell apart.  The characters were  boring and not believable;  the sets cheesy.  I immediately jumped ship, but felt guilty at having led others into a trap.  An event that would naturally send them cursing and to pretermit future recommendations.

Same thing happened with SPOOKS.  Almost immediately calling it "the best television action series ever made," it went into full blown, anti George Bush BBC liberal mode.  I have since skipped several episodes, but am recently  rewarded when Adam Carter gets blown away.  The BBC is no more to be trusted than NBC.

But, Prime Suspect.   In April I called it the "Best Series Ever."  I just watched the 15th, and last episode, and it is all of that.  Confirmed with a ++. Premiering in December 1992, it lasted until October 2006.  Helen Mirren's 30 year career as Detective Inspector Jane Tennison evolves, almost in real time.  In those 14 years she ages gracefully, but noticeably.  I fell in love with Mirren, and this week's public rant fits perfectly Jane Tennison, who by the end had  become an alcoholic.  Bravo. Best Ever.

By the bye, it happened that just afterwards I watched what I thought was the 81st, and last, episode of Midsomer Murder.   There was no great acting here, nor brilliant screen play.  And it was decidedly  about showing the worst side of Britain's landed gentry. But it was like chicken soup, or a sail on the bay.  Something to exorcise demons after a day of too much Obama. I just now discovered it has continued,  with retired Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby's  cousin, John,  taking over for him.  That series in not in the NetFlix line-up, but I assume it will pop up soon.

Thank the Hollywood News Machine

There are no subtleties with Obama

Of Tyrants & Tyranny

“

"When governments fear the people there is liberty. When the people fear the government there is tyranny."
— Thomas Jefferson (attributed to Jefferson, by his contemporaries)

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

— Thomas Jefferson (attributed to Jefferson, by his contemporaries)

"... rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our own will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual"
— Thomas Jefferson (Letter to Isaac H. Tiffany - 1819)

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.”
— C.S. Lewis

“Tyrants have always some slight shade of virtue; they support the laws before destroying them”
— Voltaire

“The worst form of tyranny the world has ever known the tyranny of the weak over the strong. It is the only tyranny that lasts.”

—  Oscar Wilde quotes

“When the tyrant has disposed of foreign enemies by conquest or treaty and there is nothing to fear from them, then he is always stirring up some war or other, in order that the people may require a leader.”
— Plato

“The tyranny of a prince in an oligarchy is not so dangerous to the public welfare as the apathy of a citizen in a democracy”

 — Charles de Montesquieu

Yeah, Gary . . . Dennis Miller or somebody did a little riff on somethin like that a few months ago. Think I saw it in a YouTube clip I got in e-mail. This is better, tho.

And this mornin on FoxNews, the subject of where to bury Tamerlan Tsarnaev came up. Apparently no cemetery in or around Boston will allow its being buried there. So Brian Kilmeade said, "Why do we have to bury him anyway?" Then Gretchen Carlson said that she thinks cremation is somehow abhorrent to Muslims. So then Kilmeade says, "Well, why can't we just put his body in a bag and dump it in the ocean like we did with bin Laden?"

During the next segment, with Stu Varney, Kilmeade wasn't on the set any more and I thought to myself, "Oh, JFC! Some PC cop has got to the executive producer and Kilmeade is being severely chastised, or fired, or both. But he was back later, still his smiling wise-cracking self.

Antonia W. "Toni" Larroux
“
Waffle House lost a loyal customer on April 30, 2013. Antonia W. "Toni" Larroux died after a battle with multiple illnesses: lupus, rickets, scurvy, kidney disease and feline leukemia. She had previously conquered polio as a child contributing to her unusually petite ankles and the nickname "polio legs" given to her by her ex-husband, Jean F. Larroux, Jr.

It should not be difficult to imagine the multiple reasons for their divorce 35+ years ago. Two children resulted from that marriage: Hayden Hoffman and Jean F. Larroux, III. Due to multiple, anonymous Mother's Day cards which arrived each May, the children suspect there were other siblings but that has never been verified.

Well, now I miss Antonia and I didn’t even know her.  And, may the person who wrote this please write my obituary.  I might just sound like I had an interesting life.

Israelis pound Syria

Raja,

The NY Times and Debkafile both report Israel destroyed a warehouse at Damascus International Airport.  Both report that the warehouse contained either SCUD or much more modern surface to surface missiles, destined for Hizbollah.  They had just been sent to Syria by Iran.  According to both reports, the Israeli missiles were fired by Israeli aircraft over Lebanon, so they are long range missiles the Israelis fired.  The Israeli jets later continued to fly over other parts of Lebanon, including the capitol.
.... thousands of Basij militiamen had just been airlifted from Iran to Syria, establishing an Iranian military presence opposite Israel from Syria as well as Lebanon. They joined a comparable number of Hizballah militiamen fighting for the Bashar regime.

Debkafile adds that Israeli ground forces have entered Lebanon, and entered the Shebaa Farms area.  Recently, Iran flew thousands of Iranian Basij militia troops, which are guarding about 30 Syrian Shiite villages.

The Israelis announced there will be an “exercise”, starting tomorrow.  Debkafile believes that is cover for a major Israeli operation.  Apparently, the shit has just hit the fan.

The Debkafile article.

In order to recognize the American spirit of loyalty and the sacrifices that so many have made for our Nation, the Congress, by Public Law 85-529 as amended, has designated May 1 of each year as "Loyalty Day." On this day, let us reaffirm our allegiance to the United States of America, our Constitution, and our founding values. Obama Proclamation

Am I reading this right?  "... reaffirm our allegiance to the United States of America, our Constitution, and our founding values." With the decline of the authority of Judeo-Christian values in the West, many people stopped looking to external sources of moral standards in order to decide what is right and wrong. Instead of being guided by God, the Bible and religion, great numbers -- in Western Europe, the great majority -- have looked elsewhere for moral and social guidelines.

Obama administration Pentagon appointees met with anti-Christian extremist Mikey Weinstein to develop court-martial procedures to punish Christians in the military who express or share their faith. HERE

For many millions in the twentieth century, those guidelines were provided by Marxism, Communism, Fascism or Nazism. For many millions today, those guidelines are . feelings. With the ascendancy of leftist values that has followed the decline of Judeo-Christian religion, personal feelings have supplanted universal standards. In fact, feelings are the major unifying characteristic among contemporary liberal positions. Dennis Prager
