In the end it appears that, somehow, the partition holding Windows 7 had been encrypted and without that PW only NSA are able to unleash it ... which they prolly already have,  Ahem.

At any rate I am now running Windows XP and a massive 60GB slow as hell computer that I passed on to MoSup years ago.  But, it keeps me off the streets.  Thank you all who kindly offered solutions, and especially Jimmy who took the bull by the horns, and made hay while the sun shone, so to speak.  Now, back to bashing the Evil Empire.

Rummaging in the attic

(I just found this from 2008)
Morning Report

Here's the updated Barn Army Kids Shoot film, but without the kids.  In other words, just the Barn Army.  The first go-around missed about a half-dozen people,  due to sloppy record keeping by my adjutant, Major Secretary Bunns (#28).  This time, every member has a number, which facilitates guessing who is who?  If the guesser happens to also be the guessee, then we have validation, otherwise I am not responsible if, say, Kim du Toit says he's number 34, when he's not.

The Kids Day at the Barn video is also updated.

Let's begin.

The King of France, and Archbishop of Canterbury is #22.  A lot of people ask, Hey Rodge, why did the King of France fight for the Yankees?  Well, it was a tough call.  The CSA had the legal, and slavery not withstanding, moral authority to secede. On the other hand, I was not native to any of the Confederate states, so I felt it was my obligation to fight, not so much for Lincoln, as against the Democrat party who were  undermining him at every corner. I hate liars and traitors, and Democrats were the traitors, during that conflict, not the Confederates.  Now here's something you didn't know.

After Lee surrendered his Army, at Appomattox, I met with Lincoln with this proposal.  We keep the vanquished South under arms, and restore full citizenship if they will join us in waging war on Democrats led by that traitorous scoundrel George B. McClellan.  Lincoln agreed, but was tragically assassinated before my commission as Chief General in Charge was made official. Nearly a century later, General George S. Patton, Jr., having read my memoirs, made the same proposal to Eisenhower in regard the German army, and filthy commies.   Little did he know that FDR's closest advisors were Democrats, and they squashed it.

Carry on.

Today's Best Ever

I am reduced to blogging with iPad. I'm sure that after several years one might get used to the bizarrely  structured key pad, but you don't have to.  I would pay the original $69, or whatever if  I had to.   You're welcome.

So, was I right?

FitBit Flex on a bike

Nobody knows how, but I get bike credit on Fitbit Flex.  Just did a circuit that is 1255 steps walking, and got 452 steps credit.  Yes, only a third of step credit, but much more vigerous exersize (very hilly).  Know what Mo Sup gets credit for on her bike,on the same course?  30 steps (walking to the bike and back).

Windows XP don't get a look.

The only disk that works is the Linux startup disk, but "no root file."  This is exactly what my old 2T disk was doing wtf.  Stab me in the fkn liver.

Is there any way to give someone remote access to this POS?  Who can fix it?  We used to have three small computer shops in the area, but like phone booths they've disappeared.

Nobody move ....

Getting a little paranoid here.  My old HP running XP just out of the blue will not boot and all trace of Windows has disappeared.

Restoration

Oh My

This is actually fun. I went to the basement and dragged up three old computers from which I am piecing together my past computer life.  In the process I am updating Windows XP, which I will use with  Linux Mint as soon as my new 3T hard drive is delivered tomorrow. What I have are a pretty collections of XP tweaks and XP ca tools.  I also have retrieved most of my picture files, through 1999 anyway.  And how about Limbaugh calling the GOP a corrupt organization! Giddyup!

Two Trees

The auto-rotate drill in rotary wing flight training is where the instructor turns the engine off without warning.  The student pilot will then turn into the wind, which effect will keep the rotor blades turning while a safe descent and landing can be made.  So, my instructor at Army flight school, Fort Walters, Mineral Wells TX, cut my engine for the first time ever.  Snap! I turned into the wind; observed a landscape that consisted of level ground, with no obstructions other than some scrub.

Except.

Except for two trees, the middle of which I targeted.  When we were close enough that the instructor was convinced of my intention, he grabbed the cyclic, powered up, and took us back to the staging field.  His critique went something like;"What in all hell were you thinking?  An open stage and you decide to land betwixt two trees that offer scant clearance?"

Hey, I like adventure.  So my continuing computer problems are explained.  That I'm flying a piece of crap Microsoft computer only exacerbates inherent Windows problems.  I am the enemy of myself in all these, Lo, many blackouts over the years.  Not Linux's fault.  I love Linux.

Sharyl Attkisson

Democrat Media Monkeys

... they’ll be seen as a “right-wing nut.”

Emmy-winning investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson appeared on the June 19 “Lou Dobbs Tonight” program and explained the media isn’t digging into allegations the White House used the power of the IRS to target tea-party groups because “propaganda interests” have intimidated reporters so severely, they’re afraid if they cover the administration’s scandals, they’ll be seen as a “right-wing nut.”

Attkisson has twice won Emmys for her investigative journalism and has been nominated for several more, most recently for her reporting on the Fast & Furious scandal.

In March 2014, however, Attkisson resigned from CBS News, in part because of her frustration with the network’s liberal bias and lack of dedication to investigative reporting.
“Whether it’s Fast and Furious, whether it is spying on a journalist, whether it’s IRS targeting, Benghazi, the list goes on and on and on,” Dobbs posited to Attkisson. “Yet the national liberal media, as I often style it, simply will not rise up to the level of a watchdog for the state. Instead they are behaving much more like lap dogs. It is, to me, mind boggling.”

Attkisson suggested some reporters may simply not be that interested in these scandal stories, but she also suggested there may be more nefarious forces at work.

“I think to some degree they have been played by propaganda interests who suggest that if these stories are covered, they are simply phony scandals and Republican generated. Which they’re not, in my opinion,” she said. “From a neutral viewpoint there are many important questions to be asked and implications here. But the propaganda campaign says that if you’re interested in the story you’re a conservative and a right-wing nut.

“Media should not be swayed by that,” she concluded, “but I think to some degree they are.”

Attkisson made similar comments on radio host Laura Ingraham’s program the same day – not about the IRS scandal, but about the recent flood of underage illegal immigrants streaming across the U.S. border.

Attkisson explained how “only one side” of certain stories are being reported, the side sympathetic to illegal immigrants.

“It’s perceived as you’re negative, or you’re mean, or you’re racist perhaps if you go after these other stories,” she said, “and I simply don’t think that’s the case, but I feel like there is that kind of pressure sometimes.”

ABC's John Stossel and Brit Hume, and CBS's Bernard Goldberg are examples of high profile, highly regarded newsmen who were fired (Goldberg) or left for more friendly environs, and were/are highly critical of the Liberal network bias.  Has it had any effect?  I mean, have GE (NBC), Disney (ABC) or Time Warner (CNN) execs ever sent a memo suggesting that news ought be neutral biased?  Have Disney ever been embarrased by the trainwreck that is MSNBC?  Not to my knowledge. Which is why we have to (sigh) nuke them all.

The Right Stuff

Natural Order

Obama's Last Card.

With the ongoing collapse of Iraq, the endgame for the worst foreign policy in American history has begun.
It is no less than astonishing to glance over the foreign policy errors made by the Obama administration since 2009.

● The deliberate alienation of the UK. Thanks to direct and malicious efforts made by President Obama personally (the Churchill bust, Region 1 DVDs), the oldest and most fruitful alliance of the modern age entered into its frostiest period since the Civil War... in the midst of a civilizational conflict in which the Anglosphere comprised the sole serious opposition.

● The deliberate undermining of Israel. Again, a loyal and steady ally was cut off for no rational reason. In this case, a country to which the U.S., as the chief representative of the West, owes an unquestionable moral debt. I guess O was listening to all thoseJeremiah Wright sermons after all.

The United States is the instrument to bring this about. The one element holding us back, the Western left, has under Obama put up their last dollar and watched it be snatched away. The left is bankrupt in every conceivable sense. It’s time to drag them away from the table and out of the game. J.R. Dunn
● The dismissal of India. Though generally overlooked, this marks a crucial blow against a future alliance promising profound benefits. The Bush administration put particular effort into widening relations with Asia’s largest democracy. Obama allowed this to collapse, evidently as an insult directed at George W. Bush.

● The abandonment of Africa. Again, Bush did yeoman’s work in reviving American involvement in Africa, an effort that generated praise even from his political enemies. As with India, our first African-heritage president dropped this without even a second glance.

● A back of the hand to Central Europe. Both Poland (the ABM system) and the Czech Republic (Early warning and control for the same system) had the rug pulled out from under them by Obama. Not a smart way to treat our most steady allies on the continent.

● The Russian “reset.” A goofy, ill-informed, and badly-executed reversal of post Cold War policy evidently designed to assure the Russians that we feel bad about 1989 and won’t do it again. Repaid with invasions of Georgia and Ukraine.

 ● The North African apocalypse. Someday, somebody is going to drill down to the bottom of this episode and reveal exactly what was going on; contemporary media is too busy attacking the tea parties. It appears that this was the result of a scheme to “liberate” the Mediterranean littoral states, a mixture of U.S. allies and neutralized dictatorships, and transform them into mass democracies under the rubric of the “Arab Spring.”  The “democrats” all seemed to be associates of the Moslem Brotherhood and Al Qaeda, the liberation a cataclysm that threatened to spread across the Islamic world. Obama, as is his custom, dropped all involvement and walked away. Thank Allah for the Egyptians.

● The demolition of Syria. A direct result of the “Arab Spring” strategy, the Syrian collapse piled one humiliation after another on the administration in the form of Benghazi and arms for al Qaeda. Almost unnoticed, the people of Syria are suffering a humanitarian catastrophe fully the equivalent of Rwanda and the Balkans in the '90s. Obama is handling it with same dynamism that Clinton did back then.

● The failure to back the “Green Revolution” in Iran.  This is something of a mystery -- why undercut an uprising that promised to remove a active threat in the form of theocratic Iran and then two years later embark on something as foolish as the Arab Spring? Perhaps Valerie Jarrett’s future memoirs will enlighten us.

● Refusal to address the Iranian nuclear threat. See above.

● The collapse of Iraq. This is undoubtedly another case where Obama was intent on throwing away a Bush success. Fumbling the Status of Forces agreement and dropping all attempts to influence the Maliki government, the administration stood aloof while Noor al-Maliki, essentially a primitive tribal leader in a fancy suit, deliberately trashed the laboriously (not to mention bloodily) established postwar status quo. The smartest man of his epoch somehow couldn’t foresee how this was going to work out.

● The China Seas confrontation. The administration has allowed the Chinese to get away with their “blue territory” scam at direct cost to our closest allies in the region with minimal response. I guess that “swing toward the Pacific” is still in mid-motion.

● The rape of Ukraine. The sole reason Putin hasn’t seized the rest of Ukraine must be that he can’t believe what he’s being allowed to get away with. For all the reaction from the White House, he could reoccupy Ukraine, the Asian republics, Alaska, and then move on to Canada with no serious worries.

That’s a good solid dozen. We could go on, of course .....

Looking at the record laid out like this, it’s easy to understand the more hysterical types who insist that it’s all part of a plan, that Obama is a super Bond villain set on bringing Western civilization down in ruins. But in fact, it’s all a result of long-term leftist ideas, chief among them, in the case of foreign policy, that A) the United States is the source of the world’s ills, and B) Remove American influence and the world will soon revert to a humanist, collectivist modus vivendi.
[...]
What can be done? Very little, at this point. To consider otherwise is to assume that this crew of losers -- Obama, Hagel, Rice, Power, and a cast of thousands -- can somehow undo what they set in motion through their own stupidity and self-delusion in the first place. (This is to assume that you can attract Obama’s attention without calling airstrikes against every golf course on the planet). With the coming collapse of Iraq, the avalanche is in motion and cannot be stopped. The best strategy is to ride it out and prepare to pick up the pieces.

A wise man (that being Calvin Coolidge) once stated that “if ya see ten troubles comin’ down the road, you can be sure nine will run into a ditch before they get to ya.” This is simple truth.  Not all these disasters will play out completely.

[....]
This elitist, murderous, and imbecilic ideology needs to be laid in its grave. The world stands on the verge of a new renaissance, based on incredible technological breakthroughs and a mature understanding of the human condition. The United States is the instrument to bring this about. The one element holding us back, the Western left, has under Obama put up their last dollar and watched it be snatched away. The left is bankrupt in every conceivable sense. It’s time to drag them away from the table and out of the game.

Rushbo Redskins

“Cheer if you want, but scoffers need to remember that no one is safe when the protections of a constitutional republic are stripped away.” El Rushbo

At the beginning of this year, Limbaugh predicted the landmark decision handed down Wednesday by the Patent and Trademark Office. He told listeners Jan. 9 that, “the way the feds are going to get the Redskins is the federal trademark office.”
Sure enough, “that’s exactly what the Redskins are dealing with today,” Limbaugh said on the air.

“I want you to imagine the federal government eliminating your private-property rights due to the interpretation of political correctness by five people, or a very tiny minority of people,” said Limbaugh.

“The tiny minority of people are ostensibly, they say, offended by something that you own. (…) Because of interpretation of political correctness, because they’re liberals, because they’re statists and authoritarians and assigned to them that kind of sweeping power.”

The radio host went on to say that what happened to the Redskins is neither the first nor the last “assault on private-property rights” citizens can expect to witness.

“Cheer if you want,” Limbaugh said, but scoffers need to remember that “no one is safe when the protections of a constitutional republic are stripped away.”
He warned his audience not to take media reports on the Redskins decision at face value. Mainstream outlets are naming the source of the decision as the Patent and Trademark Office.

However, Limbaugh pointed out, “This is Barack Obama. This is the executive branch. All this stuff is coming out of the executive branch. All of this, well, tyranny.”

Limbaugh added that “the people responsible” for Wednesday’s decision, such as “civil rights” activists and other “progressives,” will be smugly satisfied – but not for long.

“They never are. They’ll gloat maybe for a while, but they’ll just be angrier at those things remaining that offend them, and will set out to attack them,” too.
