Way to go, Obamanation...

Depicted above   “To The Shores of Tripoli” (artist Raymond Massey) commemorates the 200th anniversary of the U.S.S.  Constitution- Captain John Paul Jones firing the first of 17 nuclear cruise missiles that reduced current day Lybia to an ash heap.  There was no more piracy.  Until last week.
Within days of his March 1801 inauguration as the third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson ordered a naval and military expedition to North Africa, without the authorization of Congress, to put down regimes involved in slavery and piracy. The war was the first in which the U.S. flag was carried and planted overseas; it saw the baptism by fire of the U.S. Marine Corps--whose anthem boasts of action on "the shores of Tripoli"--and it prefigured later struggles with both terrorism and jihad.

The U.S. had never menaced or quarreled with any of the Muslim powers. As Jefferson later reported to the State Department and Congress, "Their Ambassador answered us that it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners."

Jefferson's recommendation was that the Administration refuse any payment of tribute and prepare at once to outfit a naval squadron to visit the Mediterranean in strength. [Time]

"Nip Capped" and modest

In my capacity of ordained internet Bishop, a position higher than either of the Revs. Jackson or Sharpton, certain moral questions fall into my lap, and must be attended to.  Let's consider the top picture then.

While decidedly risqué in my yoot, these halter tops meet minimal standards of public decency today.  The nipples are covered.  That's where the line seems to be drawn, wot? No nips, no sin. And of course that does make certain sense, because what is a breast without a nipple?  Just another wattle.  But here comes the tricky part.

As you'll note on the roll-over, the young ladies are technically observing proper modesty by wearing nipple caps, even though they look like nipples.  So what judgment should I pass on this accoutrement?  This was difficult, because as a world renowned expert on nipples, I see immediately that they are capped, and don't give them a never-mind. However, it's quite possible that the average person would not see the distinction, and as a consequence, through no fault of their own, would have smutty thoughts. I therefore rule that nipple nipple caps are immodest.   So signed and sealed, this day.

The RECTO ROTOR Lubricating Dilator is still the only improvement ever made on the common "dilator" which hitherto was the most successful application for the relief of Piles and Constipation.  Today, by simply changing unguents, it's made more versatile than ever.  A sage unguent will nicely baste your Thanksgiving turkey, and then there's Doc Johnson's® line of personal unguents that open Pandora's Box of "vital spot" remedies.  Let's return to those days of self reliance, and tell gummint, "I ain't paying for no stinking commie health care."

President Barack Obama has recently completed the most successful foreign policy tour since Napoleon's retreat from Moscow. You name it, he blew it. What was his big deal economic programme that he was determined to drive through the G20 summit? Another massive stimulus package, globally funded and co-ordinated. Did he achieve it? Not so as you'd notice.

The Big 1-0

The Tenth Amendment (Amendment X) of the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, was ratified on December 15, 1791. The Tenth Amendment restates the Constitution's principle of Federalism by providing that powers not granted to the national government nor prohibited to the states are reserved to the states or the people.
These are states where legislators are taking action to affirm the Tenth Amendment.  What do it mean?  It means people are getting sick and tired of intrusive gummint.  [More]

I may be over-extrapolating my feelings some, but I think a lot of us are feeling what the hippies felt in the sixties ... that their, still worthless, lives had meaning when they worked to destroy the establishment.  The difference is, they were dope smoking yahoos, under the influence of a leftist education system; we're not.   They were personified

BinLaden innocent- traditional values over

From Gateway Pundit:

Dutch TV Finds Bin Laden Not Guilty of 9-11 Attacks

Via the Hollywood Reporter:

A Dutch TV jury has found Osama bin Laden not guilty of the Sept. 11 attacks.

In the conclusion Wednesday night to the show "Devil's Advocate" on Dutch public broadcaster Nederland 2, the jury of two men and three women, along with the studio audience, ruled there was no proof bin Laden was the mastermind behind the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in 2001.

The Netherlands, home to "Big Brother" creator Endemol, is known for being on the cutting edge of format-based television. But even for Dutch standards, "Devil's Advocate," from Amsterdam production house AVRO, pushes the envelope.

The show features star defense attorney Gerard Spong standing up for some of the world's worst criminals.

In the latest show, Spong was able to convince the jury that bin Laden's connection to Sept. 11 was a product of "Western propaganda." The jury also ruled there was insufficient evidence to prove bin Laden was the real head of terrorist network al-Qaida. However, the jury did rule that bin Laden is a "terrorist who has misused Islam."

This mini-Hague Court is what we may expect once Obama has finished ceding our sovereignty to the United Nations. I am not making that up.  On the home front, Chuckles Schumer adds an explanation point.

Bury Him at Bended Knee
The Inquest
Hi Rodger,
I've seen that pic over and over again and like some pics the AP-Reuters whomever does they 'doctor' them a certain way. Well today after stopping by off of Sondra's I decided to do it with my little IrfanView program I alway use. And now I se why (my take) they made the damn thing so dark:

Lloyd Briggs

I ought to kick myself for not questioning anything so obvious. Lightened up, the photograph clearly shows that Obama was bowing with bended knee.  Look at this video of Obama greeting the Queen of England, then compare with Abdullah's,  and Obama spinners sound all the more ridiculous with their crap explanations.

I  was puzzled by how Obama's right arm, bent at the elbow, seemed to disappear in the King's robes.  A delicious thought, that.  But then I saw what appears to be Abdullah's cupped hand, almost as if Obama is dropping a secret decoder ring into it.  No tinfoil hats here, I mention this only as a passing interest. What's clear is that The Him displayed fealty to a Muslim monarch, and butchered protocol  while greeting the Queen (with that two hand shake).  It's also clear the the media attempted to disguise that fact.  So, what else is new?

Cupped hand staged for demonstration purpose.

No, that picture was from when we pressure cooked chicken.  This is where I try  Alton Brown's pan fried chicken recipe.  Here's the actual video that seduced me, and here's the written recipe if you don't have a television. snort

I've before mentioned that, of all Brown's recipes I've tried, so far only the Buffalo Wings came out exactly the way I envisioned.  This recipe comes pretty close, but instead of being GB&D (golden brown and delicious), mine were LBBW&D (Looked burned but weren't & delicious).  I think I know why.

I followed his direction scrupulously, even marinating in buttermilk for 24 hours.  I think I screwed up with the "Vegetable shortening, for frying" part.  I did use Crisco shortening, but the butter flavored stuff we use for baking, and not the white stuff.  I'm guessing that whatever makes it look like butter caused the change.  The chicken itself, surprisingly, didn't have the slightest taste of  burn, and was in fact my best ever delicious.  Don't take my word, even MoSup agreed.  She also agreed, big whoop!, this is how she's made chicken since we were married.  Anyway, if company's involved, and since appearance is maybe half the battle in pleasing people, I'd use the white Crisco.  And Do use his rub!  It doesn't look like anything I'd do on my own, but damned if it wasn't the best taste ever.

Do Obama and Pelosi really love America?
A rhetorical question to the editor

What I see

It doesn’t seem to me our president or our Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are proud to be American, but rather ashamed of our country.

Nancy Pelosi met with illegal immigrants, telling them they are mistreated and that they are true patriots for being in America illegally. If it were not for America, some of these countries wouldn’t even be the countries they are today.

We have done more for the world ... [Tennessean continued]

Every 28 years the sun returns to the same position, at the same time of the week, that it occupied at the time of its creation—at the beginning of the fourth day of creation. A special blessing – called Birkat Hachamah, "the sun blessing" – is recited to mark this event. Due to the rarity of this event, this blessing is customarily recited amid large public gatherings of men, women and children.

Sir, Yes Sir!

This article is directed at those in the conservative movement who find my existence grotesque.  You know who you are.  You are the people that do not know how to get from point A to point B without being led around by the nose.  You are the people who might be able to recite Jefferson, Madison, Washington and other founding fathers but cannot understand what you are quoting and the meaning of those words.

Mr. Blow and Rick Moran will find this interesting.  I find it validating.  Here's a little snippage ...
Last week my Marine Corps. buddy and I were discussing the current state of America and the exchange eventually led into what the options for the nation were moving forward.  He, like myself, has become very concerned about the direction this great nation is heading and he foresees America as quickly becoming far too weak to correct its course.  He asked me straight, "What do you think needs to be done?"  I responded, without even a second thought, that I thought there were three options that faced us; convert the hearts of Americans to embrace liberty through proselytizing on its virtues and retake our government through peaceful means, acquiesce to the current majority and join them in socialist misery or, lastly and ultimately, have an armed revolution that would either allow those of us that believe in liberty to part ways and divide the nation or that would retake the entire nation.  I added that I did not believe that those who are currently destroying America would let us leave willingly and without a fight making that last option inevitable should they not be converted and considering that many Americans would never chose to join them willingly and would need to forcibly defend their right to cease being part of yet another failed socialist non-utopia utopia.

He then responded with what was obvious surprise, but relieved surprise, that I even mentioned that last course as an option.

Montana's Challenge

This is right out of the movie "The Second Civil War"  While the plot there was ostensibly a rebellion against immigration policy, its scope covered constitutional overreaching by the Federal gummint.
Montana-made guns may form the basis for a court showdown over states' rights if the governor signs a bill to release some firearms in the state from federal regulation.

The proposed law aims to exempt firearms, weapons components and ammunition made in Montana and kept in Montana from federal gun laws. Since the state has few gun laws of its own, the legislation would allow some gunowners and sellers in the state to skirt registration, licensing requirements and background checks entirely.

The question is, will a governor who bragged that he  rigged the 2006 Montana elections in favor of the Democrat Party sign it? .

Lefty Gun Nuts

The Lefty's View

Snippage from The book of Shibboleth (View from the Porch blog)
Everyone who's ever attended a gun show knows that you are guaranteed to find at least one table (and probably several) of genuine whackos: Neo-Nazis, conspiranoiacs, people who think space aliens assassinated Elvis with fluoridated water, that sort of thing. It's just the eddies in the stream where the First and Second Amendments flow together. Frankly, a gun show without Nazis to mock would be like a gun show without beef jerky.

Every now and again, some lefty discovers this and recoils in horror, completely ignoring the fact that their side of the political fence has its own equally charming equivalents (It ain't bible-thumping conservatives smashing store windows and playing slap-tickle with the riot cops every time the WTO comes to town...)

Something that I got a giggle out of in the latest bout of the vapors over Knob Creek is the mention of The Anarchist's Cookbook as a (and I quote) "soldier of fortune training manual":
highly secret “soldier of fortune” training manuals (”Militiaman’s Handbook”, “How to Change Your Identity and Erase Bad Credit”, “The Anarchist’s Cookbook”, “The Hit Man’s Guide to Assassination” . . .)
I am going to go out on a limb and state that these correspondents have never read said Cookbook. I can state this with reasonable certainty, because if there is a less right-wing, "soldier of fortune" book than The Anarchist's Cookbook, I am not aware of it. The book in question is a charming counterculture relic from the days when Baby Boomers sat around crash pads with flat stomachs and full heads of hair (or heads full of Hair) and planned The Revolution. For heaven's sake, it has recipes for hallucinogenic drugs (which you shouldn't follow, by the way) and instructions on how The People can rise up against The Man to stop the Vietnam War. By "Anarchist", it means Kropotkin, not Kazynski.

Schuyler Fisk

My Schuyler Fisk story

While recommending the movie "I'm Reed Fish" to MoSup last night, while I watched Hoops - it's available on Showtime On-Demand - I said that I couldn't do the same on my blog, or I'd be expelled from the man club.  But I'm doing it anyway, because now I can add something that men will understand.  That in a moment.

I watched two movies over the weekend, The Promotion, and said Reed Fish.  Both wildly exceeded my expectations.  The Promotion,  because I associate star Seann William Scott
with American Pie goofiness, but he's excellent in the role of Doug, the assistant grocery store manager, as is John C. Reilly as his nemesis, but I expected that.

I don't know what prompted me to try Reed Fish, but I'm glad I did.  Didn't  recognize a person in the movie ... including Katie Sagal who has .. aged somewhat.  I found  Reed's old girlfriend Jill, played by Schuyler Fisk, whom I'd never heard of before, hauntingly pretty.  Her impromptu singing at a bar talent show blew me away, so I looked her up.  Here's her Facebook, but I'm sure y'all know her stuff.   Now, here's the man stuff.

Some years ago, c1983, the wife and I were meeting friends for lunch at Charlottesville's Boars Head Inn.  We had a table, they were late.  I went to the lobby to make sure they weren't waiting for us there and noticed a women with a baby stroller, baby and bags in arms, struggling to open the door.  She was with an older woman I took to be her mother.  I opened the door for them, and offered to carry her bags, which she allowed, and I followed them into the dining room where they were seated at the table behind ours.  It was Sissy Spacek, and the baby had to be her daughter, now named Schuyler Fisk.

Our friends arrived just then, and I whispered to them "don't look, but that's Sissy Spacek behind you.  They looked, but fortunately she didn't notice, because she was removing her breast (left one) from behind a dropped flap, and began feeding little Schuyler.  Guys know where I'm coming from here.  I 'm uncomfortable with women who breast feed in public, because I can't not watch.  I just can't (unless it's my daughter, stab my eyes out).  She looked up and caught me, gave a wee hint of a smile and I looked away, embarrassed at being caught.

That's my Schuyler Fisk story.  I recommend both movies.

Oh yeah, Sissy somehow got my phone number and called and called until MoSup threatened to rip her eyes out.  I think that happened, but I'm old and get mixed up.

Media Malpractice
FrontPageMagazine.com | Monday, April 06, 2009

Frontpage Interview’s guest today is John Ziegler, a former talk show host who is the director of the documentary Blocking 'The Path to 9/11’. His new film is Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Targeted.  Here's some snippage.

FP: What threat did Palin pose to the Obama campaign and why did the media treat her so viciously?

Ziegler: Obviously the only time McCain took a real lead was after Palin's convention speech. She represented the worst nightmare for liberals because she had been able to reach national prominence without already having been discredited by the news media.

The media lost their ability to decide for America whether she was acceptable or not. She had been able to go over their heads and that proved that the initial attempt to destroy her had backfired. This is part of the reason the media needed to bring out the big guns to destroy her. Again, the examples are too plentiful to get into here, but it was more a death by a thousand cuts, most of which were illegitimate with the public's belief in one myth making it easier for them to believe the next one. You have to watch the film to see it for yourself.

FP: Why was the feminist Left so silent in witnessing the media treating a woman so badly?

Ziegler: It seems pretty obvious that it was because she was obviously very pro-life and someone who actually lived that belief. But I think it went further than that. I think the fact that she was a very successful career woman, with five children, who still clearly loves her husband, who kills her own food and who looks amazing doing all of it, is a very threatening package for a lot of women. Unfortunately, Sarah Palin makes a lot of women feel badly about themselves.

FP: What has been the reception to this film? Has the media recognized its arguments, let alone existence?

Ziegler: The answer to that is complex. The reaction of audiences has been amazing. We often get standing ovations when it is screened and the e-mail I get from people who have purchased the dvd is overwhelmingly positive. As for the media, I have been on The View and The Today Show among many other shows, so it is hard to say they have ignored the film, but some elements (particularly the written press) of the media have pretty much done so -- at least so far. Interestingly there has not been even ONE allegation of me getting a fact wrong or even of a distortion. The best one liberal critic could come up with was basically that I didn’t have video of Brian Williams, Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson mapping out their plan to get Palin. I figured that pretty much meant I had nailed it.

FP: What does it say about our country in general that this media bias occurred in terms of Obama getting elected?

Ziegler: It says a lot. It says that far too many of us simply down whatever the media spoon feeds us and that we don't do a lot of critical thinking or research on our own. The video we did of Obama voters on election day and the two scientific polls we did to back those up prove that.

Here's a clip from the film ...

Seats and Chops

Can We Talk ?

I don't care to go into the details of what brought this to mind, and not for the first time, but here it is.  Why is it that public toilet seats have a convenient safety cut-out/access portal, while home versions do not?   Public seats, btw, that men are loath to use in all but the direst of circumstances, and women do their best never to come in contact with.  And yet, in the safety of  home we're inconvenienced, and put at risk?    Why, damn you, why?

And another thing.  Why don't dogs get vasectomies, instead of the current savage practice of beheading, so to speak?  "But Rodge, nut chopping not only renders the dog sterile, but alters the personality so the male isn't always trying to score!"  Not good enough. Bruno is still always trying to score, only with my leg, or any large bump on the ground.   If Ms. Prissy knew precious Puppums couldn't be impregnated by my German Shepherd, she ought be happy - if she loves Puppums - to see her safely, and naturally satisfied.  Here's what I think.  If veterinarians had to learn this skill, they'd have to spend six days in Veterinary school, instead of four, and couldn't sell those fake sack stuffers at outrageous prices. Am I right, or what?
